Run by idiots, there are always mistakes every time I order anything from that place. And when I call, no one answers and then someone picks up the phone and hangs up right away. Cannot believe management doesnt care about this.
Dupree at the print center was so sweet about running our print quickly so we could have materials for our meeting the next day. Greatly appreciate the exceptional service and fast turnaround!
Went to office max along Geary to buy a monitor and the staff were great. Very friendly and helpful. Went to this location by Best Buy to return the monitor because it caused me eye strain and the staff were awful.1) this young guy has the nerve to put my return money on an office max “return card” after struggling to figure out how to process a return for me. When I tell him I expected my money back since I told him I wanted to do a return, he says that I have to use the return card, which has my money on it and I can buy something else with it.That’s an exchange. An exchange isn’t a return. UmmmmmmmHe says there’s nothing he can do now that my money is on the return card (no refund for me).I go over and complain to another employee, oldest guy in the store, he seemed senior but he wasn’t apparently, and he asks why I’m complaining to him if he wasn’t involved. RIP quality customer service.I get a random item, bring it over to checkout, and ask the girl if I can pay for the item with my return card and then immediately return it and have my debit card refunded. She tells me she’s not sure it’ll work multiple times. I tell her to just humor me.I buy the item with the return card. She goes to refund my debit card and voila, it works. The manager had to come over and bless it with his password. He had been nearby the whole time and did nothing to intervene.Employee 1) lied or negligence at play in getting my refund back or else a horrible office max return exchange policy in place where you can’t actually get a refundEmployee 2) didn’t provide customer service as a customer service representativeEmployee 3) lied or negligence at play in saying she didn’t think I could get a refund1) Retrain or fire the manager to stop having him tell employees to prevent returns by forcing customers to do exchanges with these BS return cards. Or if that’s not true then have him train them on refunds.2) In general, train your employees better on how to talk with customers to de-escalate situations, explain company polices, and process transactions.
Convenient with helpful and friendly staff. Good selection and decent prices.
I come here all the time, and have positive and negative experiences, like all places, but on Monday I was helped out by an employee named Johnson and he was so caring and attentive and just made the whole experience so much better! I do wish this location had more items in store (and not just order ahead) but Johnson made the effort to search all of the shelves to find the boxes I was looking for.
First, customer service was quick, friendly, and efficient. Couldn’t ask for more. The issue was that there were only two people working in the whole store and even with few customers and the hustle of the employees, they couldn’t meet demand for questions and checking out. 100% a management issue and needs to be resolved.
Went there for the print services on a Saturday at 5pm, no one was there to help us and when we asked when we could come back they wouldn’t tell us.
So, I’m astounded and how tragic the employees and the store has become. Put this place out to pasture and let it die. That was beyond, and never again.
A full service office supplies site at Division & Harrison. Pretty much has whatever you may need. It also offers other services such as printing, passport photos & more. After shopping, get some tacos from the food truck to round out an errand run.
Got what I needed and things I didnt know I needed.
Went in today to get a new ergonomic office chair now that my company requires everyone to work from home at least for the next month. Johnson helped with some recommendations and pointed a couple of sale items they had that were perfect for my needs and I also got a free additional 2 year protection coverage. He even helped with getting the box through the cashier and to my car. It’s been a while since I’ve had such attentive service at a retail store. Thanks so much Johnson for an amazing customer experience!
Was just at this location to drop off a fedex envelope. Since it was my first time using this location for fedex I did not know the procedure so I stood in line. A tall gentleman started practically yelling at me if I needed copies. I said I was there for fedex. He told me the drop off was in the lobby. I asked for an envelope. He gave me one and said to put everything in the envelope. I was trying to ask how to address the envelope, but he just walked away and said it’s a self sealing envelope. Luckily a nice woman at the front of the store helped me with addressing the envelope. So, in conclusion, if it’s customer service you’re looking for, you might not find it here.
In this moment, we need businesses like your to play a supportive role in mitigating against en epidemic and part of that is embracing community. as you know there is limited parking for Rainbow Grocery next door. Given the increased shopping for essentials, its no surprise to need to park on the edge of your lot. Of course that act is criminalized by threats to tow cars (like my own) while having 0 impact on your ability to do business. Based on your good management deciding to tow under these circumstances, i will no longer patronize Office Max/Office Depot and will encourage everyone i know to do likewise. Convenient location with lots of parking! They have some good sales going on this week. I got a box of printing paper on sale today!
Shipped a fedex package here last Saturday and was told that their receipt printer was out of service. Thank god I took a photo of the package on their counter as proof of shipment. It’s been over a week and tracking still shows no movement of the package. Tried to call them 25 times and never anyone picking up the phone.Don’t ship here with fedex, they steal packages!!Edit: a few days after I posted this I got a shipment notification - somehow they must’ve found my package and it was finally shipped after weeks of delay.
Dont go here for shipping services. No one in the store, including the manager, was trained in how to use the system. The woman who helped me was lovely but it took about 30 min as she went step by step through the 30ish page instructions. According to the manager, corporate changed the system without telling anyone. He then proceeded to tell another customer that they were shorthanded, so the turnaround time for their print order would be longer than usual. Not to mention there was another person - maybe another manager - who was mostly just standing around.
They always have good art supplies and a wide variety of pens and pencils. The prices on backpacks are very reasonable and they have all the different kinds of backpacks. Lastly they have a really good variety of storage containers of all different sizes.
The whole staff was eating hot dogs behind the counter- but seeing as I love hot dogs, I am writing a 5 star review here!
They had everything I needed for reasonable prices a lot of choices for style and prices. Except for a 2 inch binder not a lot of choices and they ALL were priced at $10.99. I am still satisfied with my purchase.
I go there very often to make copies. A little pricey but the quality of their work is amazing. If you go for the photocopy service the staff will be helpful and knowledgeable. They take their time with every customer so it takes time. Try to go at odd hours to avoid waiting times.
I only use this location for the printing services — primarily large format engineerin/architectural drawings. I have never ever not had a problem with something they have done. Absolutely horrible.
The customer service at this store is appalling. This is a perfect place to film a corporate training video on terrible customer service. It would be funny if it were not so very sad. In this store it takes ages to find a floor rep. When found they have idea how to search for an item in stock. The manager stands to the side and does nothing to help the poor children he has hired as staff but has not trained. There is no leadership in this store and they do not seem to care about customer satisfaction one bit.On the websites there is no contact person for the store or the corporate office, so customer sites like this seem to be the only way to file a complaint. However, on the website you can search inventory for an item yourself. What do you know? It turns out what I had spent 45 minutes seeking had been in stock at the Harrison Street store all along. Such a shame no one there seems to know how to find it.To the Owner: if youre reading, time to pay attention to your customers and train your staff!!
Beautiful Ceramics but pricey. $30 for a mug ? $60 for a large bowl? You decide if its worth it. Nice selection of ceramic books as well.
This OfficeMax is very organized and clean. Today I came into the store and had an incident with the cashier because there was a lot of small items on the display for a dollar each that I bought. But the guy wants to charge me two dollars for each item even though the sign says one dollar causing the total to be higher than it was suppose to be.
Surprising this place even still exists. I just needed a flashlight right away (never mind why), but there was police activity in the parking lot. I think online would be safer.
Don’t bother, long waits, zero interest in customer service.
Ordered some coffee for store pick up. This elderly gentleman at the store was rude and did not help at all. After i finally got some help and they pointed me to the rack with store pickup stuff. I had to go back and stand in queue all over again.Worst part was after i reached home, i realized the coffee had EXPIRED 2 MONTHS BACK !!! Why would you offer store pickup if you cant provide the right item to start with !! Cant imagine going back to that store just knowing how rude the staff was !
If I didnt need to go to this location I wouldnt. Tonight was something else. My daughter was in need of school supplies and since we dont have a car today, we decided to go to this location. Just because I had to turn back because the cashier double charged me, I clearly heard the old man with glasses and a goatee LOUDLY whisper Jesus Christ. Dude, dont get upset with me because you earn minimum wage AND youre unhappy with your job. Youre also going to get Yelped by the way so kudos to you for bringing down your company !!!
I was greeted as I entered the store. I explained what the problem was and was taken to the tech department where we discussed my options. Jahmar suggested sending my laptop out for repairs, which would take two weeks. If this fix works I will be a very happy customer.I will send a follow-up comment when I have had time to check out the results.
We used them for desks and panel installation. Very Competitive pricing and professional. Would recommend.
I really got disappointed about this place. I bought cash register for my store from this place and it wasnt working at all. The guy who sold it to me he knew it but he tried to just sale it anyways. I brought back to them and they refused to replace it or refund my money back. The Customer service and the management are the worste he was talking to me like. We cannot replace it or refund it because its been 10 days. I am asking head qurter of Office Max to change the management otherwise they will lost the business.
I went to buy one electronic gatget. And I had to wait for 2 days but it worth because they had to install a software. They want to be sure that everything is working correctly. The service is very good .The guys who are working are very polite and professionals. The store has good quality in merchandise every body should check the merchandise specially if you have your own business. Even if you dont have a business you can find quality of computers and laptops at affordable prices. If you go to school or college you will find quality in merchandise.
Great selection. Competitive prices. All of your office and school project needs in one place...
They have some very unhappy/rude staff. Which sucks because when you need help they give you attitude for asking questions ?? ( I’ve been here about 3 times, and I thought maybe it was a one off.. but always the same experience) I would say go to any other office supply store if you want decent service. There’s a lot nearby so you don’t need to subject yourself to this kind of service
Awful customer service. Tried to get a order of business cards done. The customer service rep assigned to me acted as if the last thing she wanted to do was help me complete my order. Noticed other customers getting similar attitude from other employees. So frustrated with the non existent service I left the store without buying anything. Stay away from this Office Max, they obviously dont care about customer service.
Copy and print services have been good here. Fast competent service when I need a couple thousand copies of a packet.
Very helpful. Quick in and out!

People who work at this store lack education and customer service. People who hire them are just as dumb.
The only full size office store near downtown Sf (other than Staples on Van Ness, which is smaller, and the micro Office Depot on 3rd) selection is good, but prices seem a bit high.
Always pleasant check-out staff when we come in for self-serve copies every week or two.Sometimes difficult to get help when the machine breaks down, even if several people are standing around unoccupied. You may have to chase rather than flag someone. The computer help desk has been very helpful with some silly questions.Strangely their prices and inventory can be very different from the other location we frequent.Usually plenty of parking in their private lot, a definite rarity in SF as someone else noted.Ive never felt the area scary.
Very nice staff. Place was very clean and organized. Looked great.
Typical big box store. Ive had some stuff printed here and been happy with results. The staff are friendly.
Good place to buy Electronics horrible place to return something that they sell that was given as a gift had nothing but hassle with trying to return a simple Texas instrument calculator
Good staff assistance. Great parking
They always have what I need.
They need more staff here. The staff they do have is knowledgeable though.
Shipped a fedex package wasnt very difficult
Has a fedex print center in it, added bonus! Prices and customer service leaves much to be desired, though.
Wow. Russian manager is lazy and crooked. Great $1 buys like tissue boxs and big waters. They keep very close eye on you while you shop feels uncomfortable always. Id rather go to one on Geary Bc they dont act like that there.
Typical of office Max. Good parking.
They have all the office stuff you could want.
For copy and like needs the staff remained alert and attentive to completion.
Found everything I needed. Prompt service at the register.
Always give me good service.
Customer service doesnt exist here. There was 3 people in the entire store and miraculously it still took 12 minutes to get rung up. I stood there and watched a cashier and a manager help a phone call inquiry while we waited. Then a second cashier came to help and took that same call off hold and radioed the manager about the inquiry. Really slow, no urgency, and a manager who is clueless on customer service. The only reason to stay was the great deal on the chair. Do yourself a favor Office Max. Mystery shop the hell out of this store! You might fire everyone but it will improve your customer experience.
Can get printing done, though inefficient as the throughput is based on available staff instead of automated jobs in a print queue.
Office Depot on 16th and Potrero was so so much better. We always chose Office Depot over Max because Max staff were just not as friendly or available. Now that theyve closed Office Depot and we have no other choice, we still have a hard time with the incompetence of their staff... of course not all... but enough to make ones experience a bit miserable.
I came to OfficeMax to help my father find a decent color laser printer. The selection was not bad but I had a lot of trouble finding anybody to help us or even answer simple questions. When I finally found an employee she told me she was not the one to help with printer issues and assured me she would find the resident printer guru and send him/her my way. I waited for a long time before I finally asked her again and I was told to hold tight and the printer guru would be with me shortly. Needless to say no body ever came to help us. Finally I decided to leave a d try the Best Buy adjacent to the OfficeMax. Before leaving I noticed a bunch of Candy items near the counter but did not purchase anything as the prices were outrageous. Some items were so expensive I took photos of their price tags to post on my Facebook page!
I love it had everything I needed
Service and staff was very good and friendly and attentive. Lots of office chairs to choose from.
This is an ok place to shop. Pretty decent place.
Horrible store with rude non professional employees. Dont go there
Easy to get to, helpful although always seems to be low in stock. Came through twice in a pinch for last minute supplies because theyre open until 9p during the week.
Everything you need for the office / home office. Fast print service and helpful people.
Store buying seems outdated. Only good to check out the sales item before order by internet.
Good price, nice people!
Happily stunned! Probably will result in the sales person being fired for dealing with the situation as an intelligent human being with a good sense of customer relations and how to promote customer loyalty.Purchased a Microsoft keyboard. Took it back the next day and explained the problem. She offered the options of replacing it with an identical item or exchanging it for something else. I took the something else - a Logitech keyboard. They happened to be the same price. Nothing was said about a 15% re-stocking fee. A new receipt was issued. I left happy. The Microsoft keyboard hot key switched screens or brought up dialogue boxes (forgotten which already!). Being ultra-sensitive, it was impossible to type even this much without at least 10 interruptions. Whether this feature key was defective or not is unclear. It could not be disabled and Microsoft Support requires setting up an account before you can ask a question (oh, puhleeez! Yet more metadata.). So it was exchanged for a product from a different brand to avoid the potential hassle of having to return to the store again. So did she do the direct exchange because I said the words possibly defective? But, I also said the problem might be caused by my own typing style. Having read the official versions of OMs Return Policy, the various web based comments, and in general agreement with other comments about lousy service, I was braced for an unpleasant scene. Hence being happily stunned. As to the general matter of 15% restocking fees: They are a blatant Rip Off !!!! It means the brick an mortar store you shop in makes a profit on the original purchase plus 15% and gets to return the item to the manufacture for exchange on which the store will profit again (possibly profiting the full original retail price). Three points of profit. Thats a scam. Reputable little guy brick and mortar stores generally dont operate this way because they want your return business. Amazingly, Home Depot and Lowes seem to know this and offer full refunds no questions asked.About lousy service - With todays exception, it is agreed that the stores approach to service is generally awful . Even today, the first person I talked to was doing something on the a computer and made me wait in line for an otherwise occupied cashier. And, my wonderful cahier was interrupted to take a phone call, apparently a private call for another employee. So to sum up: This store gets 3 stars (unless the employee gets fired) where past experiences would barely earn 1 star.
They advised a laptop but didnt have the charger so we would have to oder the whole thing and it would cost more
Easy and fast to get some copies
Big with easy parking... not easy to find in San Francisco!
The best place for the offices stuff
This place is horrible. Nothing is ever in stock, you cant even buy 11x17 size paper despite them selling 11x17 printers. Ill go back to ordering on Amazon.
Super slow, unfriendly staff. However its decently stocked.
Waited in line forever just to get one page printed. I dont understand why they dont have a self service computer like staples or kinkos.
Dont try to get anything printed here. The service is terrible and the print area is a joke. A terrible setup and only 1 person working.
Not a lot of people who work there offer to help and the few things I needed was not able to find
Had what I needed and I did not have to wait in line too long to pay.
I fine all my office supplies i need
What a sad dying company. At least they have La Croix..?
My favorite always empty walk around store for work
Best place to get printer ink w/o going broke.
Very helpful employees.
Good place for office goods
Is a good place.
Not bad, but checkout slow sometimes
Come here for all my office supplies. . if i only had an office
Wow wow wow its heaven to me
The Manger(chanise) and the assistant too, is racist and rude, some employees too
The employees dont even know what they are selling and a lot of items were not available in this store. Never coming back here again since I have a lot more better options.
Park here if youre going to Nihon Whisky Lounge.
Great customer service!
Quite Friendly & Helpful
Wait printing for a long time! Why just 1 worker for the printing??
I went in looking for a file box and they had many to choose from.
Terrible customer service
A lot of the shelves were just empty..
Not a hug fan of this place, but it gets the job done. Always a bit pricey for what you can find online, but with a little work they will price match what you find online.
Friendly and quiet store
Prices are too high on everything except school supplies
