I love going in here even as a SF local. I can get SF or CA themed gifts for out of town family or friends. Ive even picked up a few items for myself. They also carry art from local artists. Its not cheesey as some of the other stores in the area.

I love coming to Haight Ashbury area because I grew up here and I feel like I am at home amongst everyone. I have bought some outfits from The San Francisco Merchant store. They are getting to close soon, so please come see them and buy some wonderful exotic things for your home and yourself before they are gone for good.

Visited when last in SF 2 yrs ago. Really exceptional customer service. Stopped to show me photos of the area when Janis Joplin was playing outside. Loads of local intel. I bought a lovely Joshua Coffey print - True North & other pieces.

Such a cute shop with a wide selection of things, much of which is local! Id definitely recommend checking out! It was a little bit out of my budget range, but I loved everything I saw!

COULDNT RECOMMEND MORE!!!! I recently visited the city with an out of state relative. We had been to several souvenir shops prior to SF Mercantile. My cousin had spent a ton of money already and did not have much to show for it! Well the stuff was much cheaper for identical or similar items she had already purchased for much more. The guy heard us talking, and helped her find, and even reduced the price of a piece of jewelry, the remaining items she needed to on her list. One of which was a cute cable car coffee mug. When we got home and she was unpacking, there were a pair of mugs in her bag.There was a post-it note inside that read just for you. We were both so touched by the thoughtfulness, there was no way I wasnt writing this review.

I got my ideal souvenir here - a pint glass designed by a local artist that creatively illustrated all the sites of San Francisco! LOVE it! Expect amazing customer service and a store that takes pride in their merchandise.
