Pricey, but impressive selections. A large selection of specialty sodas and drinks from all over the world. A deli bar with enchiladas and pasta and cakes and deserts. Fresh fruits and veggies. Recently added a coffee bar. Delicious coffee, and open until late in the evening!
Definitely overpriced but very nice staff, comfortable environment, great location and clean store. Wide selection of items available, however, could use better sign postage for the location of goods. Would make some things easier to find but because its such a friendly environment I dont mind wondering around.
Love this little store. I got a really nice brownie here the other day!
Very hipster but not all of the items are expensive. Also great ambiance. Has indoor seating area to eat or be productive on your laptop.
Convenient for people in need at the sanctuary resource center.
They accept ebt. They have stocked up an array of different drinks. Including some with strange bitter tastes.
The market is on my building the prices are too high and not a good customer service !Everything is over priced!Quality of food is really Bad!I prefer to go to another markets to buy My essentials they ripping off the customer and the people in the South of market !
This was the only place open until 10pm and had a great selection of items that you may need after the main markets close.
Overpriced, snooty staff, nothing fresh or locally farmed, not worth the effort or expense. inside the store smelled like an open sewer.
Great little corner store with nutritious, wholesome food & snacks. My favorite is their fresh salad bar with choices aplenty. I often end up with 2 bowls due to their variety of well prepared topping choices. The groceries are always well stocked with an excellent variety of nutritous items. A tad bit pricey, but well worth it!!The staff is helpful and friendly, with minimal checkout lines. I have tried many things & none have disappointed.Definitely the place to go to treat yourself well!! Enjoy🤗
Going here for many years. Great sandwiches, bigger selection than youd think! A neighborhood treasure.
Bought a white coconut cake tonight for my grandmothers birthday, bought it at 6:42pm served it around 8:15 pm cake was beyond stale whip cream frosting was rock hard and cake was inedible. There was 5;people served at dinner and still over 3/4 cake left. It was just simply gross. This place should be ashamed of themselves for selling this disaster, and hope they are embarrassed for their failure to sell fresh food. The cake cost $12.59 and I hope they are at least professional enough to offer a cash refund as I doubt I will return last week a moldy pie now this. How can I contact a food inspector to have this place checked out.
I love going here. I live nearby and the coffee they sell in the morning beats any cafe in the city. Really nice staff and the best selection of groceries in Soma.
Its obviously the majority of these reviews r were written by the uber-wealthy class of young overpaid urbanites that are disproportionately represented in SF. A working class person need to take secnd mortagage to purchase a sandwich in this over price yupster emporium. The owner is a very snippy man who always appears to have been awakened a few hours before his alarm has gone off.The evening cashier is a persnickety bundle of sticks with a square IQ, square it and it goes lower.
They sell a gourmet key lime pie that is expensive, but worth it! The help is a little rough around the edges, but the assistant manger is the nicest guy. Thanked me for shopping there, that made me feel great!
Handy store and good staff
10.95 for the cheapest sandwich. The quality is good there but very pricey.
Very nice fresh produce and selection of herbs and spices. A homeless guy attempted to remove alcohol and was scared off! A bit sad that.
Clean and well stocked, the Sales clerks are warm and friendly. I find it a pleasant experience.
Expensive and not the best selection of foods. Like a Whole Foods.
Well the food is great. Look hard you will find some good deals and the produce is wonderful a bit high but worth it
Great prices, healthy options, and good food.
Good variety compared to Trader Joe’s, but at a slightly higher price. Very handy to those who live nearby.
Great selection as a local alternative to Whole Foods.
Delicious fresh & organic food and drink. My fav is their home-made soup. They specialize in delicious take home items, as theres a refrigerated section and also a relatively large deli section with beautiful lunches/dinners to go or eat there, (theres a few dining areas.) The rest of the market has hi- quality products and also a nice variety of wine & beer. The barista is sweet and friendly. She serves good coffee early in the morning along (up to 6pm or so) with other baked items and a fresh salad bar. Its expensive though and the manager needs better customer service skills. All in all, a foodies delight! Enjoy.
I used to be pretty skeptical of this place, but Ive come to really appreciate it. Its expensive, but convenient, and they have a surprisingly good selection of all sorts of things. And the owner and staff and really nice, good people doing hard work. (This is a really tough neighborhood in which to operate a business like this)
I love Harvest..im glad i stay across the street...the food is great. They have alot of great choices in food selections.
It’s a great store
This is a great neighborhood market... I am not sure why people are noting it as overpriced, they have fair prices and great healthy food. I pop in here for the sandwiches and salad bar, its consistently fresh and great. I especially enjoy the friendly and engaging staff, they are a large part of why I keep coming back... again and again!
So this place is another of my favorite places in San Francisco.. Now I say this for many reasons.. First its always clean..like I could eat off the floor clean, and thats saying something!.. They were a life saver when I became homeless in San Francisco.. They accept EBT for their hot foods and coffees.. The food is made fresh right in front of you.. The coffee is delicious and the mocha is fantastic.. Plus its also a grocery store and produce market.. I wish I took photos today, but I forgot.. Ive know the owner and barista for 4 years now.. She calls me tiny, even though I am 7ft tall.. I know alot of people look at my reviews.. 30,000 so far from the Terria Market alone and 9,000 who saw the nasty dirty ups store.. This is a must see and experience place.. its location is on 8th and Howard.. check it out.. youll be glad you did..I would like to say one thing.. They treat you the way you treat them.. if your mean and rude.. you get mean and rude back.. if your expectations are their expensive... well you live in San Francisco.. not everything is expensive but remember where you are.. I still rate this place 6 stars.. I love the staff and I treat people the way I expect to get treated.. Loyal shopper.. See u next month..but I say that each month..
This place has everything. May appear too fancy from the outside but theyve also got budget friendly items. The workers are very sweet as well
These guys are crooks. Every time I am there I am being incorrectly charged. Sticker or sale prices are usually lower than what you will find on your receipt. Furthermore, a lot of items are pass the due date. Shopping there requires your full vigilance; you have to check due dates and freshness of all items and to check the receipt before you pay. Stay away from this place.
Not bad
Expensive and their kup melon is sprayed with some sort of acid the literally burns your tongue. They say its preservative but if Im going to pay twice as much for something like cut melonit had better be fresh enough not need a preservative. They do have other stuff thats good, but so do less expensive places.
They got stumptown nitro cold brew
Unfriendly, expensive, amateur and so many other negative features, no wonder they look deserted most of the time...
Pretty handy. Not sure the covid-19 routing through the store actually helps increase distance between customers though.
Was here in mid-May 2020 while on my 3-4 day SF vacation. It’s just like I said about Price Chopper in Roeland Park, KS; everything - EVERYTHING - about grocery stores nowadays is just plain draconian and 100% anti-customer. Same attitude as always. Shopping used to be fun, fun, FUN as a young child, but over the years, it’s turned into a hassle to get anything from the store period. Waste of time and HIGH prices here. 7 dollars - $7 - for TWO SKITTLES PACKS! MY WORD! The guy who owns the store, Gil, chased me down several aisles and had the audacity to tell me “Put those away. You’re not allowed to buy Skittles candy” as if he either thought I was 8 years old or as if he thought I was shop-lifting and stealing. Neither were true. This store was also featured was in Tucker Carlson on Fox News one time (American Dystopia part 2) in early January 2020. No matter what people say, don’t bother going to this store and buying anything in shopping aisles. Rather be bitten by a small pit bull pup. Go elsewhere. Such low IQ idiots and sheer blatant incompetence.
Lords of healthy choices clean Owner/manager is rude and vulgar and can be very obnoxious
Has all everything you need! Great service! Best café in SOMA! Highly recommended!
About the only nice place to grab a great reasonably priced sandwich within blocks; great (overpriced) soup & salad bar too. All the grocery basics you need in a pinch, if you dont mind paying 2-3 times what youd spend for the same things at Whole Foods, or 3-4x Trader Joes prices! But great spacious seating to enjoy your sandwich, and fine selection of overpriced drinks!
They actually have cheap ziploc bagged legumes $1.5-$4 and pretty good produce prices, all looks good
Great whole food selection
Great convenient grocery store
Amazing helpful staff, clean, well organized, delicious soups & variety of healthy & organic foods/products!My boyfriend had gone in on the off chance that they would have soup for me.Turns out they do & a nice variety at that! I had the most delicious chicken noodle soup. I returned the next day for the same soup but they had none in rotation. One of the staff was extremely helpful when I asked for suggestions on other places nearby that would have a comparable soup to theirs. A few minutes later, he apparently noticed I was still looking around; he went in the kitchen & then found me to tell me they had just made a fresh batch of Chicken noodle & were just about to bring it out. He then served me up a huge to go cup & made my day. Thanks to all the staff for the wonderful attitudes & work ethic! If were in SF again Ill definitely shop here again.
Skittles pricy, but nice to treat yourself
Location is fantastic, place is spotless with a great selection of product, especially organic. The staff are the nicest people Ive met, and will help in any way they can. The prices are significantly higher than Trader Joes, and even higher than Whole Foods. The food bar has great options, and the espressos are delicious.
Its alright. Prices are ok, staff okish. Think they need to improve the quality of their meats and fish
Frequented this place daily. Atmosphere can be 5 stars when not being followed around expected to steal or something
You got to stop off around this area if you bvb have then you should youll love the great live seen you drive into when yo ih come to the city you go th to come here
Has a little of everything. With that said, I won’t be coming back, which breaks my heart since I like to support local businesses. Service is awful and not friendly at all; it is like we are bothering the owner/cashier (older guy with gray hair) by buying something. Also, a $10 credit card minimum. At their inflated prices, really?!?
Horrendously over priced! Everything is TWICE TO THREE TIMES THE PRICE! Youre better off getting delivery from a normal grocery store, Amazon Fresh, or take out food.
Stuff was very rude and unhelpful
Great specialty storeWent in late one night to get a sandwich after work and was informed buy one get one. That immediately told me everything is always fresh. Pricey? Absolutely.Worth it? Im a regular. The free sandwich meant my lunch the at work the next day was free.
My surprise, with Harvest, is that its not busy every minute of the day. They really are good.
They have a pretty good selection of healthy and interesting food and a ton of awesome chocolate. They also have some yummy baked goods. They prices are pretty high so I cant imagine shopping there on any kind of regular basis, but its nice to be able to stop in if I am near by and would prefer to eat something quick and healthy. The service is ok though it doesnt feel real personable.
Great variety of products. Not everything is pricey. Some of their items are competitive like ICE CREAM! :) Cant go wrong with that!
I enjoyed an amazing lunch from the deli on my first day visiting. I came back on the second day, Sunday, it was just a little after eight, and there is a young man cleaning off the deli counter with glass cleaner and paper towels. I politely asked is this closed? He what are you around and said why dont you have some patients.I waited to speak to the manager, something I never do. He didnt seem to care
Little too expensive but in a more likelier area of the city
Expansive selection in the SOMA area. Kind of pricey, but worth the money if you shop right. Pass the salad bar and head to the rear of the store, excellent burgers, sandwiches and deli meals that will make your mouth water.
I went into the Urban Market to get a drink around 8:30 in the evening. They did not have the particular brand I wanted. But I kept looking to see if anything else might be a good substitute. I asked for a few price checks because most items are not properly marked. The clerk then said to me you havent found anything yet? When I finally made a decision all the drinks were warm. The clerk helped me find one all the way in the back. I went to the checkout and the cashier was not very friendly. An older heavy set man. I then decided since I was spending my own money I should not settle for a room temperature drink. I left the items with the cashier and went to the light to cross the street. To my surprise a man approached me on the street. He said his boss, the owner, saw me put something in my purse on camera. And asked to search my purse. I refused because I knew that was impossible because I had not put anything in my purse. You can not see something that never happened. The clerk even said, well I am not going to force you to let me see your purse. The owners should review the laws before they send their employees to harass people out in the street. Because I had none of their merchandise in my purse they would have been breaking the LAW. DO NOT SHOP AT THE HARVEST URBAN MARKET.
Very nice 👍
Hip, cool market for small groceries and deli food. Not bad compared to sandwich shops in town, not good compared to markets in town. They have a lot of organic and local goods in addition to a good amount of freshly prepared foods.
Staff is always super rude..i guess i dont look like im rich enough to shop in thier store..overpriced by a ton..save your mobey and go to Food Co..same stuff minus the 250% markup..
Love to support local market but it is OVERLY expensive for no reason. I dont expect top tier customer service but every time I go there, I felt like Im bothering them.
Theyre awesome and they accept EBT throughout the whole store even the deli.
Outstanding food,people..Gilles,Ivan...wow.!
Great market
Little bit too greedy for my taste.
Rough area but great selection
I only go for sandwiches occasionally. The deli is great. Everything else is way way over priced however. (Youll pay a few bucks for the same sized bottle of water you can get for 49c-99c, down the street at Trader Joes).
Great variety, but too pricey.
A little bit expensive but you can find what ever you want there and there is never a queue (which is great for Covid times)
This place would be good if the food wasnt expired! Be sure to check the expiration date on everything you buy. They sell expired yogurt, expired canned soup etc. You know its bad when the soup has expired...
This place is fantastic! A lot of foods and beverages at the right price for San Francisco average. We stayed in San Fra for 3 days and we took our dinner there every evening. The owner, born in Canada, is very fun, he was so polite and kind, I also met his little nephew Cali! Hes too coool!! So young, 7 years old if Im not wrong, but very smart! I love his hair, he will be a model a day trust me! :)Thank you guys for your companyEnjoy lifeCiao from Roma!P
Very nice market and the soups are really good. But, the hot meals are a bit high in price :(
So convenient, they have a very wide range of products, a lot of both vegetarian and vegan friendly offerings, produce, as well as a prepared foods section - where you can get a dish made for you if the section is open, or choose one of the pre-made ones from the cooler. They have a coffee bar, pastries, a salad bar, and are open late enough that its convenient to stop by after work
All employees are polite but atore prices are too high.
While I was shopping yesterday, the manager approached me and said hi and I politely said hi back. And then he just stood there staring at me. I asked if there as some sort of problem and he said, no, you were gonna ask me something. All I had said was hi and turned away from. I dont know how he thought I was asking for help. He kept staring and I confronted him. I asked to speak to a manager and he said he was the manager. He said because I was bothered by him staring at me that I was weird. His words exactly.
Stayed at Holiday Inn Civic Center on 8th / Mission. Wanted an evening snack. Walgreens on Market closes between 7-9pm (depending on the day) but this Market stays open until 11 pm. They had everything you could want in a small grocery. Glad we could grab some chips, cheesecake, beer and ice cream to take back to our hotel.
Shop here and support a locally owned and operated business. ..get a latte made with love and less foam art involved
Convenient Euro-style store with a good selection. Prepped food here is great. I suggest the premade sushi. Prices are a bit high. Owner/manager is cold and unfriendly. Cafe WIFI never works in the mornings.
Cool staff good store kinda pricey but still good
Friendly, nice slection of orepared food, clean eating area. The only thing they need blinds to shield eating area from the sun. A few more tables needed in the front entrance of store! Reasons to give 2 stars
This place is so cool. They can be pretty pricey sometimes but can always find those grw at treasure when coming to food and delightful drinks.
Good food but I warn you its Pricey. The Burger is awesome the soups are always good and there sandwiches rock.
While I like the idea of harvest market and many of the products they carry, the only problem is, its an overpriced pretentious. The seller of food products that poor poor quality and overpriced extravagantly because of the organic labels that truly really mean nothing.
Lil bit of everything. Like the sign !
I got food poisoning from the honeydew mellon I got there. One hour after eating I was on a bathroom floor for 14 hours.
Solid create your own sandwiches and prepared sushi. Normally not a fan of pre-made sushi but theirs still had soft rice on the later side of lunch. Big selection of snacks but on the expensive side for a grocery store.
Prices a little high but it OPENS at 6:30am -11:30pm a great variety of wine, produce, organic everything else meats from Deli, setting, salad bar, quick shopping for the 3 major meals & snacks in between. No public restroom, parking or outside sitting or table service.
Looks great from outside.. Havent compared the prices yet
I refer to this as Yuppiemart. Its fine when you are in a hurry - but *man* are you gonna pay for the convenience. The one definite flaw is the bulk foods offerings—they dont seem very well attended to.
They have cool items and I got a very tasty Cuban sandwich here but it is very expensive
