I love how this store covers all the bases. I found some buried vinyl treasures on the second floor and also bought a cassette deck. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. It’s a must stop when visiting SLO.

Place is cool, found 9 edm records. Mostly house music and 1 dnb record all for under 20 bucks.

If you are a collector of music you need to visit this store. Plan lots of time to wander and remember times past. If you are a gamer stop here first

Bought a game here today and it is broken and there are little pieces of dirty tape holding it together.I understand it’s used but do you seriously buy broken items to resell? I didn’t check out the condition because it was in a security box and gave them the benefit of the doubt assuming they screened the condition of items before they buy them, obviously they do not.Not worth the time to go back and deal with the hassle of trying to return since all the games here are overpriced unpopular titles anyway.This place is not what it used to be.

I went here and then went to boo boo records. Found twice the amount of CD and vinyl and other cool used stuff compared to boo boo and the prices are better and cooler environment overall

This place rates the quality of used records on the price tag and has a good selection. My boyfriend goes here everytime we go to the coast. They have comics too and every cord you could possibly need.

Cheap Thrills is a treasure trove of music, video, gaming, comics and other random things. Everything is well organized and easy to ge through. Be careful, you could spend hours in there as the passage of time doesnt really exist there. Also, if you are into vinyl dont forget to head upstairs.

Folks there are less then honest . I ended up loosing a bit of $ because i bought a used record player, it did not work, and they would NOT refund the money (the next day!). Only “store credit”, meaning i had to buy ANOTHER record player (much more expensive). GUESS WHAT? It stopped working after a couple weeks. So, i can spend MORE, or upgrade to an even more expensive piece of garbage...DO NOT SPEND YOU MONEY THERE. Rick, the owner is a CROOK!!! They are not trustworthy

I love cheap thrills my dad brought me there a lot when I was a kid Jodi long hair who works there is great and really cool. Thats what makes that place awesome. Someone at GameStop said that their competition but no one can keep up with cheap thrills.

One of the oldest and most unique Indian stores on the West Coast. The store had over 50,000 turntable grated records upstairs and its record Loft, they had a huge selection of CDs as well as probably the most complete selection of old school video games anywhere. Do you need hours of time to even have a chance to to see just part of whats in this storeThey also have a huge selection of DVD and Blu-ray movies over 25,000 titles,They are also part of a sister store, Captain Nemo games & Comics which has an incredible selection of graphic novels, comic books, family and board games, D&D miniatures, magic and all the non Electronic Entertainment you could ever want to find.It is not possible to see everything in Captain Nemo and Cheap Thrills in one visit!Prices seemed internet competitive and selection was awesome. I certainly highly recommend the store!

Overpriced and cheap on the trade in credit. With the prices they charge they could be more generous with store credit. However, sometimes it is the only place to find that one piece of media you are missing. Also, people are nice but not the extra mile type. I have called to ask for a certain title and told no they don’t have it only to stop in and find it myself.

This is a good place to find vinyl records, cds, videos, and other media. They also carry vintage stereo equipment and speakers. One of my favorite places to stop by when Im in SLO.

I came in looking for an RCA to AUX adapter that I hadn’t been able to find any of the three previous stores in SLO that I went to. Not only did Cheap Thrills have what I was looking for at an awesome low price, but the woman who helped me was very friendly too!

This store is the worse back in the 90’s & 2000’s they rented and sold video games. One time I was trying to buy a1st Generation PlayStation and the owner Richard Ferris is the one who sold it to me. But when I got home I found of that It did not work I took it back and he claimed it was not one of his because of how the laser was situated he then promised me that if he had another one I had the same thing he would give it to me for a replacement. So we took it down and saw that it was exactly like the one I bought and then refused to replace my broken one. Richard Ferris owns Cheap Thrills, Square Deal, and he did own the Sub all in San Luis Obispo California. In 2015 The sub burned down due to poor Management on the owner’s part which led them to try and blame the fire department and local off-duty firefighter When in actuality it is most likely all their fault And I feel that it was probably for insurance

Love love the upstairs! If you want good prices on used vinyl in central coast, this is the place! The rating system (very good, excellent, NM etc..) is pretty accurate, they let you open it at the counter before you buy to double check. My fave of the 2 places in SLO

Great place for used vinyl and cds, in various genres. I enjoy just browsing, but I find something good everytime I visit. Also used video games in various formats, and DVDs. There is a comic book room, and the adjacent Captain Nemos is good for board games and D and D stuff.

Cheap Thrills is the only place you can get a lot of vintage video games and gaming equipment that still works for fairly cheap. Always more used records coming in. Yeah you have to take off your backpack. Ive never sold anything to them, but Ive bought a lot of awesome stuff for pretty cheap.

Very neat store.

My initial visit was lackluster at best. Older staff were grumpy and clueless; not of much help finding items on my want list - looked it up in their computer system, got the spelling wrong multiple times & played it off as my fault, then just pointed me to the genre area (where I had already been and looked). All discs are in the plastic carrier theft protection pain in the ass; so you have to flick through each item front art rather than scan the spines - takes forever. Add to the pain of the low height of shelving for the CDs, and you grow tired of the hunt rather quickly.Selection on sub-genres was lackluster at best. Being a college town, you would think the selection would be diverse - no so.If you did find a title you wanted, pricing was on the expensive side. Anything in the gaming console section is extremely overpriced - I found games I picked up last week for $4 and $5 that they were asking $15 and $20. A PS2 Guitar Hero controller for $35?!? Outrageous! The asking pricing on the stereo gear was also insane - $65 for a 100 disc Sony player is laughable.The check out process is also antiquated - the student had to fill out a slip for each disc; then put some sticker over every UPC. Seriously?!?!? Add in they could not find the shipping boxes that they had on display, the entire experience was so easily tainted - and could have been prevented.Not a good visit, not a good first impression/experience.

Good selection, customer service is aight

I dont see why the warrantee on the games there dont let you replace them, only if they dont work when you buy them. Which is highly unlikely because every game there is cleaned up a lot where it will work. One of the games I bought broke one day, I took it in and they told me the warrantee is only good for if it doesnt work at first and they offered to put it in their disc fixing thing. I was there for 30-40 minutes, took it home and it still didnt work. Not the best experience from a place that has that many selections of music, games, movies etc. If you like them, thats cool. But I recommend finding your entertainment elsewhere.

Nemos (which is right next door) is great, big selection of comics and dvds.Cheap Thrills is also not bad, although their metal section is lacking. Every so often theyll have something rare or imported for a low cost (usually less then $10 or so). Their other sections are also decent.
