This is a proper old style ice cream parlor, in taste, atmosphere, and price Great family friendly spot. Good seating, three booths and several smaller tables. Shared an ice cream sundae because thats what you do in an ice cream parlor!We ordered at the counter and they brought it to us at the table.Super friendly staff and try the butterscotch! It was delicious and best of all they still have old style prices. Only $7 for a two scoop sundae.

I had high expectations because “homemade” is in the name. I would have been disappointed if it didn’t have the smooth, rich, extra creamy texture that I was expecting. Also, homemade ice cream has a rich sweetness that’s missed in mass-produced ice cream. This place did not disappoint. It tasted slow-churned, thick, and creamy just like I had hoped. I couldn’t decide which flavor to get since there were so many, but I decided on Peach. It was a very refreshing summer choice.I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area, and it might even be worth traveling to even if you’re not nearby.

Everything here is homemade, the unique flavors are a fun change from the usual flavors you find at BR, etc. There are fun items like cookie ice cream sandwiches. The lunch menu looks good too so we will be trying that next time around. The gals there are friendly too. Go check it out.

Old school charm with food from the two best food groups… sandwich and ice cream.

This place is AMAZING! From the moment we walked up we were greeted by Branden (I believe thats what I heard, mask tend to muffle sound). He gave us the run down on the menu and ingredients. We had their honey lavender, cookie monster, and a dough melt (a warmed up donut stuffed with ice cream). Their flavors will not disappoint. Be patient as the long came be long, but its worth the wait.

Cant go wrong here. Covers all the basic flavors and some. In a big strip mall so theres Plenty of parking outside and quite a decent amount of indoor seating as well. Friendly staff. The smallest scoop is $3.95 and its a good amount.

GF used to come here years ago so she dragged me. Got a club sandwich, she had a French dip. Our drinks came in frosted mugs, Unfortunately by the time I took a pic the frost was gone. Afterwards she got an oreo ice cream for desert. Quaint little shop. Staff was great.

Horrible service, the ice cream was not as great either. I have had a lot better. I’m writing this review while I’m having pain in my stomach. Do not get the mango it does not taste like mango at all. And they don’t give samples even though they don’t wear gloves or masks.

Customer service sucks there was a girl behind the counter very quiet and a tall guy very short hair not even hi or welcome dry cold... didnt feel welcome at all. Honestly your product can be great but many times you better pay for great service than food...not sure if I will be back...I am in the restaurant business and I will never hire a person like that guy I hope he wasnt the owner.

1st, Hans is NOT ONLY ICE CREAM! I had to mention that Rt off the bat because I didnt even realize they are a Deli as well, until I was in there. I havent tried their sandwiches yet, but they look really good & a good # of items on their menu looked good too. That said... Back to Ice Cream! Every single flavor of ice cream Ive had at Hans is amazing! My current favorite is their Orea Cheesecake Ice Cream. It looks like Cookies & Cream ice cream but it isnt... Its better. And Im a big fan of cookies &cream Ive cream, so honestly, I didnt think Id like it more than the regular cookies & cream, but sure as Sh!t, I loved it & prefer it now. Overall, Hans ice cream AND DELI, is awesome. Ice cream, ice cream sandwiches, drumsticks, you name it - if theres ice cream in it, Hans might be the best ice cream in the area. Hans- creamy ice cream. Lots of different flavors and it changes!! How exciting, especially since it is so good. This place is located within a shopping plaza a few blocks from south coast mall. It is in the same plaza as a thai good place I like to frequent (shout out to Georges!!). Been here many times, this time going for ube ice cream. Love this flavor, it is so good left with a pint of it.If you are the type of person who wants a bargain and can be patient go for the pint size. They pack that thing till it bursts, such a deal since I think it is like getting 2-single scoop ice cream cones. I mean I still was able to quickly finish the pint (within 3 days) but soooooo good!!!Awesome during the summer days, but I eat ice even on rainy days haha.

Great ice cream.

My first experience was really good. Ice cream was really good and I really liked the taste. I ordered pistachio and rocky road. Pistachio flavor was good and i could see small pistachio in it. Rocky road has chocolate and marshmallow and taste is good. I know it looks weird because they have different taste but it was really good. I paid $5.95 for two scoop ice cream and i am really happy because worth it.

The girl that waited on us wiped her nose...twice, with her fingers, just prior to scooping our ice cream. The staff does not wear gloves. I did notice that she didnt touch my cone with her bare skin, but used the paper she wrapped up my cone in. Not completely disgusting.There was freezer burn on some of the ice cream in the tubs.There were assorted ice cream flavors in other ice cream flavors; droppings from the scooper that hadnt been removed by the staff.They use reusable metal spoons for customer samples. (Keeping it green!)It appeared as though there had been a hasty electrical repair in the middle freezer; wires were draped over the ice cream with wire nuts (not an ice cream topping) and electrical tape hanging in plain view.The ice cream was very tasty 😋

Ive been going to this place for years. Everything is made fresh to order. They make their own ice cream on site in dozens of flavors. The staff is always friendly and helpful. It can get a little busy, and its a little small, but its a nice, cozy, little, local place. Everyone loves the ice cream and desserts and the food is great, too. Parking is ample, as it shares a lot with a shopping center. And it can be a little hard to find, if you dont know where to look. Its a hidden little gem.

Service was quick. Half sandwich choice was reasonably priced. Beef in sandwich was very tender but small to average in size and quantity. Split pea soup was hearty with bits of carrot and potato but could have been warmed up hotter. Potato salad didnt taste homemade seemed bland to me.My coffee and chocolate sundae needed more fudge syrup. Size was average.Interior decor was average casual atmosphere.

Came here for the first time after I got this place recommended from different people, the ice cream is good but not great, but what they do excel in is customer service, the girl that was taking my order was very patient and gave me different flavors to try before I settle on two different ones that I liked.This ice cream parlor has a vintage vibe to it, which brings some good memories from being a kid and going to get ice cream with my parents. They also have other things aside of ice cream which I need to go back to and try them out.

I went here near closing time and expected to be rushed but they have very friendly and patient staff. Had 2 kids with me and they made them feel welcome no pressure just patiently waiting until the kids tried some ice cream and finally decided which one they wanted. We are always on the search for pineapple malts when on vacation. After looking high and low no places seemed to exist. We finally found Hans and were not disappointed. The malt was extraordinary. They use handmade ice cream for all their treats. We will definitely be back next time we are in town.

I love how Hans Homemade Ice Cream. Have a great night of unique flavors and ice cream is just so darn creamy. It is a bit on the pricey side, but they do offer an option for you to get as much as two flavors in each single scoop. That way you get to try a lot of flavors of ice cream.

Delicious ice cream! Their portions are absolutely huge. Theres also rotating flavors to keep it interesting. Cookie butter and peanut butter chocolate was good. They allow you to split a scoop into 2 flavors so you dont need to buy two scoops.

We are a big fan of the ice cream especially on vacations and enjoyed sampling their fudge, ice cream, and chocolates; however, the staff were amazing too! I will definitely come back here next time

This place is right around the corner from where we have lived for a almost a year now and I cant believe we havent been here before now. This place is so cute, they serve sandwiches and soup and handmade ice cream which is to die for. Their home made drumsticks are my absolute favorite! Service was amazing and everyone there is happy and accommodating!

Excellent and super friendly service. Very generous with samples before we committed to our orders. They also offer half scoops, for the undecided, like myself. The ice cream? Ahhh freakingmazing! Seriously intense flavors, that taste like what theyre supposed to taste like. Peach was soft and creamy and actual peach taste. Butter pecan was buttery and lots of toasty pecan flavor and chunks. Chocolate orange was chewy and rich and very chocolatey with intense orange flavor and chips. A lovely place to sit and enjoy a Sunday afternoon ice cream splurge. We will be back.

The ice cream here is quite rich and delicious, a small amount really does go a long way. You can also have a very tasty and refreshing cucumber sandwich with sprouts, tomatoes and mayonnaise. This joint is busy and well patronized but well worth the wait.

The Ice Cream here never dissapoints. My husband and I always come here for a banana split. Its a good portion for two. Theres usually very little wait time and the staff have always been friendly and accommodating, especially since I am always asking for specific toppings on my orders. It also has a very nice aesthetic and atmosphere. Its yummy and a cute place.

Although staff seems a little overwhelmed even at 8pm at night since the line was out the door, the ice cream is divine. Perfect cream to flavor ratio. Not overly sweet or icy just bursting with flavor and creamy consistency. We ordered a double hot fudge brownie sundae, caramel pecan fudge sundae and a waffle cone with a double scoop of Boudreaux Cherry and Peanut butter chocolate. All orders were beyond expectations.

We shared a single scoop of the chocolate marble. The single scoop was more of a cup full. The girl behind the counter hooked it up as she was trying to scoop the last of everything in the tub. She gave us so much that other customers were questioning our single scoop order; it was kinda funny.The chocolate marble was okay. The ice cream was so creamy and buttery in taste that it was a tad much for me. There also werent any chocolate. We almost wanted to bring it back but didnt since they were nice enough to hook it up.Im in no hurry to be back.

The *Best* ice cream. They make it in store. They have a root beer flavored ice cream - which is delicious by itself, but its *ridiculously* delicious when used to make a float in Virgils cream soda. Very highly recommended! :-P

Small, friendly ice cream parlor with a limited but great lunch menu. Their split pea soup is really good. But its the ice cream, my friends, its the ice cream. Homemade and delicious. Numerous interesting flavors, but you have to try their Chocolate Orange Chip. If you remember and loved Swensons Swiss Orange Chip, you will love Hans Chocolate Orange Chip. Enjoy, but please leave some for me.

I got the sandwich special for $8.50 plus tax. It was good, nothing special or amazing about it but Im scoring up for customer service. They did take about 20 minutes to have my order ready which was really slow but they were a little busy and they made up for it by constantly checking in on me. Really friendly staff!

I got cookie butter! Super good! Its this cinnamon like sweet flavor but not too heavy! The texture is also great! Doesnt melt fast. I enjoy it!Really good ice cream! Id come back! Im from NorCal. Its similar to a place in Palo Alto called Scoops Microcreamy. If you go there and get Speculicious, the cookie butter here is similar but better.Thats why this is 5 stars.

This was one of our favorite places when we lived in OC. So when we came back to visit the area, we had to eat there. They have really good ice cream, ice cream cookie sandwiches, and frozen bananas. My favorite are their frozen bananas. Made fresh! It is small, which can be difficult to find seating when you have a family and its busy. Never had their deli, so no comment there.

Lived in this area all my life (30+ years) and have barely discovered Hans ice cream. Hands down the best here locally. Many great flavors and the staff are friendly. Highly recommend it.
