Weird, defensive and unhelpful. And that was just from a phone call with questions.
They are nice people.
Big city futon has been in business for 18 years now and is part of Santa Barbara County sleep shops in Design Center. You are never going to make everyone happy, and satisfied customers usually dont go on and post that everything went perfectly. You dont really hear about all the planes that land safely. It is now under new ownership and we will continue to give you really good products and always striving to have the best possible service. Come in and visit at Big City Food time because you can also pick up luxury mattresses or designer sofas or recliners at the same store. Truly a very friendly buying experience.
BUYER BEWAREIn fact, dont bother at all.Last AUGUST (2015) My wife and I bought a love seat futon that folds out into a full bed. It was super comfy with the cushion part being springs rather than a foam. A place to chill after work and a place for my daughter to lay her head when she comes home from college. However, within 2 months (October) the springs started separating and breaking through their individually wrapped containers. We contacted the owner and told him what was happening, he didnt seem too interested in the issue, blamed it on the manufacturer and took our name and number stating he would get back to us when he got the replacement part. Two moths later (now December) my family and I had breakfast at Maxs, just across the street. So we went back into his store to check on the status. We told him that the springs were now popping through the fabric of the seat and that the unit could not be sat on unless you wanted a spring sticking you in the butt-cheek. He said he had still not heard from the manufacturer and to just turn the mattress around in the meantime. I told him I wanted a solution or a REFUND within two weeks, he just peered at me with, literally, a crooked smile and went back to his paperwork, essentially dismissing us. On my way out the door I told him I was just going to bring the darn thing back. He looked up from his paperwork and said, NO. Dont bring it here, theres nothing I can do with it. I gave it a month (January), called him back, he told me the manufacturer started this new thing where they will not replace parts unless the customer sends them pictures of the damage. I asked him when he intended to inform us of this new thing and had I not called, how would I have known.....to which he had ABSOLUTELY no response. So, I took the pictures, sent them in and waited.....waited....waited.....another month (February), my wife went in....she was only 3 steps inside the store and he immediately became IRRITATED and CONDESCENDING. Being very short with her, he said, Look, I told you I would call you when the part comes in, its going to be two more months. So now, as I write this review, its April 16th -- 8 MONTHS after purchase -- and still nothing. I have given up. I dont have the time or patience to take this guy to small claims court to get my $700 back. I just went and bought a new couch from a reputable local business owner. I have half a mind to drop this futon off at his front doors in the middle of the night with a nasty note for any passers-by to not EVER do business with this man, and the reasons why. But Im above that. I believe I have demonstrated patience above and beyond any expectations any business owner could realistically place on their customers.PLEASE do yourself a favor and shop elsewhere.
