You can go to Walmart and buy a bike. Its not a good idea. When you ride, you have to run with the steel sheep, and the steel sheep have teeth. Unless you can do your own repair and maintenance, youre going to need help. It needs to be done right.I once rode a bicycle 10,000 miles in a year. You probably dont want to do that. But it taught me alot. The folks in the front at Summit have great bicycles to sell. Some will shock you with their price. Those are special. They even have one with a battery that senses your pedal pressure and does a force multiplier on it to drive the wheels. It makes you Superman. But you probably dont want to pay thousands for it.They have quality, serviceable, name brands with great support. Their line of Trek bikes is reasonably priced, reliable, functional, and serviceable, and theyll support it. They have a good team of guys in the back who can repair and maintain it right quick.
Wanted to share my nice experience at this bike shop. Had a situation where my shifter cable snapped and needed the bike for the weekend. Jake did an incredible job not only replacing the cable but also squeezing me in at the end of the day with other customers waiting. He added a red end cap to the cable - nice touch. Brian also helped me on many occasions with my bike and finding me a new cassette.I did see several negative reviews on here. My experience here has been great and limited to Jake and Brian. I believe the best qualities are their dedicated service and pricing. I do find other bike shops to have a slightly lower price and higher ratings. However they took much longer to service a bike. At this bike shop, the mechanics try to help customers as much as possible and may be taking on more than they should. The area is quite busy and many customers come in. Given this, I believe a balance is needed to minimize the low ratings. Otherwise in my experience I believe this is a great shop with quite reasonable prices.See pictures on the wide selection of helmets, bikes, equipment, and accessories.
The people working in this shop look quite disinterested. Everyone knows its pandemic and there is wait on everything, but at least try to be nice to people visiting the shop. I got some attention after 15-20 minutes of wait and then the person attending to me sounded pretty tired and frustrated repeating again and again that stuff is not available without a pre-order and its unreasonable to expect to get out with a bike right away. If I want to get out with a bike right away, you should at least look interested in getting the business.
Very well stocked store, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and quality products! You wont find any cheap knockoffs here.
I got a brand new Marlin 6 2022 model from Summit Bicycles Santa Clara. The day after I got the bike home and unloaded it in my garage where it stayed the whole time, the front tire went flat the next day. I called up Summit and was told to look for Chris and it will be taken care off. When I took the bike over for them to have a look, they charged me $40 to replace the tube for a brand new bike within a week of having got it from them with almost zero time on the road. The person who did the repair said that is how it works here. He found no issues or holes anywhere in the tire but a pinhole in the tube during replacement. I told him The bike stayed in my garage all the while. He said he can take a new bike out for 1min and that can happen. So basically they have the audacity to blame the customer with illogical argument.Avoid this place at all cost.
Zero Stars rating: I had one of the worst experiences at Summit Bicycles. I went for my bike repair today and asked for adjusting back brake. I was not informed about the price to fix this. Mechanic went ahead made bike brake loose and quoted me $20, when I said it is not fixed he said it looks good to him. I will avoid going to this place in future.
Long-time mountain biker, and passionate cyclist advocate, I had to find a reliable and supportive local bike shop after moving to Santa Clara. Id heard of Summit Bikes before moving to Santa Clara but had never stepped foot inside one of their many Bay Area locations. I compete in enduro mountain bike races throughout the race season, and am generally pretty hard on my bike. My first time into Summit was greeted with a smile and and all the help I could have ever asked for from Jake. One of the many maintenance tips and tricks Jake helped me out with was the chain-waxing service they provide. After many years of foolishly cleaning and re-lubing my chain, Jake finally had an answer to my time-consuming chain maintenance.I have put over 100 hard miles on my mountain bike without having to touch my drivetrain. After the wax service that Jake suggested, my chain has been shifting smoother than ever, and not collecting ANY dirt. Probably the best invention since sliced bread. If you are hard on your bike, or are tired of cleaning and re-lubing your drivetrain, please do yourself a favor and get the chain-wax service. You will be so happy you did.Thank you so much to the excellent service team at Summit for keeping my race bike running strong all season and helping me improve my race times. Friendly staff, clean shop, and the product knowledge to back it all up.**2/3/18 Update**It was time for me to have the 50hr service done on my RockShox Monarch shock and I could either send in the shock to SRAM or let my local shop handle the service. I prefer to support my local bike shop (AND YOU SHOULD TOO!) so I dropped the shock off with Dimitri who was happy to help me. Instead of waiting weeks to have the service done w/SRAM, Dimitri was able to service the shock in just a few days and I can honestly say it feels better than new.I also want to mention that Dimitri was able to true my rear wheel back to its original shape after a handful of other mechanics had told me that the wheel would never be round again. These guys are serious miracle workers. I cant say enough good things about the service department at Summit. Thank you! I will definitely be back.**6/28/18 Update**Jake has done it again. I was having some shifting issues on my new race bike and of course these guys were happy to help. I had the chain waxing service done to make sure my shifting was always smooth in the wide range 9-46 E*Thirteen cassette. These guys introduced to the service and Ill never ride without a waxed chain again! Jake made some adjustments on the limit screws and took a little bit of tension out of the shifter cable. I was so happy to get in and out of the shop so quickly. I also took some photos of inside the shop while I was there. Summit is always spotless and staff is always happy to answer your questions. Very impressed with their service department. I have no reason to go anywhere else. If you havent been here yet, check them out!
Friendly and helpful, but also pretty bogged down right now so response time may not always be ideal. Did get my e-bike up and going again despite the manufacturer being half defunct so that was pretty impressive.
I needed Time XPresso cleats and they sold me RXS cleats which was $34.99 on May 11th. I said Im using XPresso explicitly and the stuff even checked the Time web site said he is sure about that I need RXS cleats. Performance bicycle sells it $22 with $1.99 shipping. I wont use this shop again.
They did a good job servicing my bicycle.
Please avoid this bike shop. I wanted to replace tire and tube for both my bike wheels. These guys overcharged me and the bike tire went flat after a month of riding. And puncture is not due to sharp objects but because tube joints are coming apart at multiple places. I ride once or twice a week only on road, so very surprised. This shows they put in a low quality tube but charged a premium. Also, the experience at the bike shop was less than desired. The person at bike shop was not interested in attending us and when he did was cold and impersonal. Now what you expect from a local bike shop.
After making multiple futile attempts to reach someone over phone, me and my wife went to the store to inquire about couple of bikes. The first kid (yes seems this place is run by a bunch of high school kids) we interacted with was neither knowledgeable nor courteous. He did not know about different bike sizes and was clueless about shops bike inventory. The second kid had more info and was helpful (hence the 2 *).However, the information these kids gave about the services provided by the bike store was inconsistent. I did find a bike that I wanted to buy, but I couldnt trust the store because of the experience I had with the reps. They were rude, looked disinterested in helping the customers and as another reviewer pointed out, they lack expertise and experience to handle customers in the current pandemic situation.
I was quoted a delivery date for a recent purchase, however the company was unable to meet the timeframes originally stated. I understand backorders and having other customers however if theres hangups follow up. Be professional. 1)Dont tell me my bike is still sitting in the box in warehouse 2)Dont try to push an upgrade when you havent been able to deliver on the initial transaction, and 3) when dealing with a customer directly who has already paid for the product your main concern should be them; we dont want to hear about your other customers; they irrelevant to the transaction at hand. I will be holding out for my bike because its been hard enough trying to find however I wont be continuing patronage of this establishment moving forward.
Mo and Regina were both stellar. Never made me feel stupid and answered all my questions. So happy that we chose to buy here.
Would be zero stars if possible.Order a bike tire online on 7/24. My credit card was charged on 7/27. The tire was never mailed. I emailed twice with no response. I called and left a voicemail. No response. Finally I called on 8/4 and was told it would be shipped that day. Received a USPS tracking number. Two days later the post office still has not logged the package. Called and the person was very rude. They claimed it takes several days for it to go from Santa Clara to Cupertino, but I was trying to explain it wasnt even logged in the USPS tracking system. The person said Just return the item when you receive it and hung up. So rude.Im contesting the charge with my credit card company. They should not be doing e-commerce.
Horrible bike shop. I wish that I never purchased a bike from them. I had to order a part through them. A month later and no call so I decided to order it myself. It received it in 2 days and still have not been contacted by the shop about their order. Horrific shop, avoid at all costs.
Great place. Love my Marlin 7.
Great team, thoroughly answered all my questions, and I will go back for any bicycle needs. They have a great covid system in place as well!
Bought a bike over the phone with these folks. Mostly, it went fine, but they are not equipped to handle the load under the pandemic. Their customer service is inadequate. You cant reach them on the phone, they dont return phone messages, and if you show up to visit, you will wait a long time to be helped. After a couple of months of waiting for my bike, I went to pick it up after they called to tell me it was ready. It was there, but it took them a while to find it because they arent really organized. They dont seem to be able to find peoples names and orders in the computer system they are using. Lets be frank, this place appears to be run by a bunch of high schoolers and twenty somethings that just dont know how to run a tight ship. They offered to install the bike lock I ordered with the bike and I said sure thinking they were saving me some time. They installed the lock and I took the bike home. When I got home I realized that the bike lock keys were not given to me and were still in the store. I called them on the phone and asked them to put the keys aside so I could pick them up in a couple of days. I went to the store two days later and they cant find them. They made me wait outside in 90 degree weather in smoky air for half an hour to tell me they couldnt find the keys. Im probably going to have to make a 3rd trip and wait around a bunch more to get this resolved. They arent going to fix this for me without me pestering them, which is not how this should work. This is the epitome of bad customer service. I will avoid doing business with them going forward. While I sympathize with the load they are under and the complications of Covid19, they have to do better than this to be thought of positively. Nobody was actively rude to me, but I did get the feeling that they didnt care and that they were just going through the motions. This sort of experience would leave a bad taste in anyones mouth. We have another bike on order with them and Im very tempted at this point to cancel it. I just dont trust them to do a good job.
Rude, volatile staff. Came here to purchase a bike after seeing that they had the bike in stock. When we arrived there was a line and a sales person came to speak to each person in line. This person, Caucasian, with curly red hair, fist bumped the white man in front of me and asked pretty much everyone politely what they needed. When he came to us he asked if wed checked for our purchase online and without thinking we said no. To which he rudely replied that they would not be serving us because it was a massive waste of their time.If the issue was that they were understaffed and needed customers to know what they wanted before entering the store, then they should hang a sign. How can these store people be so rude to somebody bringing in business? I wanted to laugh at this man. Such horrible service.
Great service. Honest people. Labor is ~$5 expensive than cheap shops but their service was so fast and efficient I’d definitely go back again.Changed my rear tire and tube. I was in and out in 15min
Worst customer service ever.I ordered a bike online. I called customer service after a week of no updates, they assured me the bike was real and was on its way from the warehouse to the store.Another week passed without updates. I called again and now suddenly the bike was back-ordered. When I asked them how that was possible, they refused to investigate and simply *hung up on me*.I completely understand if a bike is unavailable due to Covid-19, but it should not take 2 weeks and multiple phone calls to find out the bike is not there.
Got the best service: Maddie was so patient, explained everything in such a great way and even helped carry out. Super happy with my purchase.
I really wanted to like this shop as its close to home. My first impression was good - big store, decent choice of bikes and accessories. But the staff is rude. When I stopped by to buy a bottle of lube they told me I have to wait an hour because they are at capacity. They turned me away and immediately let other customers in who brought their bicycles for service.
Such kind humans, genuinely helpful and willing to go out of their ways to make sure I got the bike I wanted on a serious time crunch (even in the middle of a pandemic-induced bike shortage)! Would recommend all day every day. Thanks again!
TL;DR if you can take your bike to the San Jose branch do that, the service is better there. We had same two of the same electric bike that needed to be assembled. We took one to this shop and the other one to the San Jose shop.First, this branch billed us extra money without informing us although their price is fixed for the assembly. When we asked about this they said it was for the electrical wiring. San Jose branch didnt ask for such thing, they were even surprised when we told them that.Second, they did a really bad job of tuning the rear brake. Because the pads are hitting the disc and making a noise when you go faster. They loosened the rear brake so much to prevent noise, that it is unsafe now. Now the rear brakes are even squeaking. I know this might be a problem with bikes with rear hub motor. But, we didnt have the same problem with San Jose shop. Their assembly was spot on.I really wanted to give 1 or 2 stars but they are decent people and agreed to refund us the extra, and I have a working bike (still with a brake problem).
After returning my Walmart Schwinn hybrid, I knew I loved biking but didn’t know what the was the right bike for me. They helped me get a quote on couple of bikes over the phone. Once I went there, James was very helpful and polite in sharing information. 10/10 for customer satisfaction and precise knowledge of all the components from a variety of manufacturers. He stayed after the closing time and helped me browse the catalog until I had chosen my bike. He seemed as excited as me. Would definitely recommend this store for anyone who’s a beginner like me. Go JP!
Rude employees, worst customer experience. After paying for bike, their ETA was July 13th, when I checked only July 12th they say it will be available next day, when I went again on July 18th, they say it wont be available until end of November. They dont have even decency to say sorry and responded rudely and asked me to get out of the store, when I showed my dispeature ( Dylon and Micheal are the people I interacted with avoid them if you can).
The reservation website screwed up my reservation (completely not *this* shops fault), but Jake and the team made it right anyway. They went above and beyond to get me a bike I could use immediately. They were absolutely awesome. Gotta love the small shops like this.
They say friendly staff, But it depends on how you look and what you buy.I went there in morning to find about Trek Fx3, she said it will go back order and may get delivered Feb 2021. She mentioned they accept commute pass and I can go with 12 months financing if I order at store. On reality, when I went back with commute checks and place order they say I cannot do financing I have to pay full amount, financing is only available online. Crazy!!Response of the store staff is careless, may be that is due to high demand in these days. It is not that I like your shop, I thought Trek bikes are good so I came there. If there is option who sells same bike near by, for sure will not come to you.
Awesome shop. I went in here today to get a repair done on my bike - that I did not buy in the store. They were able to service me immediately, and I had my bike with me again in 30 minutes. They didnt only do the repair - but made sure everything around the repair area was alligned as well.I was expecting a very high charge for the work, but the price for the repair was actually very reasonable. They will see me again in this store!
I came in as a novice rider looking to rent, then to upgrade from my entry level hybrid. Jake spent a good hour with me walking me through the rent-to-own program, two test rides, bike types, bike models, the tuning guarantee, finalized the rental, helped to get the bike into the car, and then we discovered that Im eligible for a temporary free bike through Google, and it made more sense to postpone the rental. Jake refunded it without hesitation, and was super chill about the whole thing, when it would have been pretty easy to be pretty upset. Thanks man, Ill be back.
I discovered Summit Bicycles when I needed to rent a top quality road bike for my son who was visiting from Chicago. I found that they had great bikes at prices that were significantly lower than the competition. The bike was ready when we arrived and performed flawlessly for the entire week. I have been an avid cyclist for over 40 years and it is rare to find a shop that provides this quality of service. From now on Summit will be my go-to shop for all my bike needs. Thanks Summit (and especially Zack)!!
Came Im with a Xiaomi m365 scooter wheel where I just couldnt get the tire seated. I was originally just looking to buy some tire levers and get some advice on how to get it back on but they said they would give it a shot. It took three people and a bunch of tools but they got it sorted within 20 minutes and wouldnt even charge me when I asked. Super friendly staff with awesome customer service.
I have bought 3 bikes from here and brought in my bikes for maintenance here as well. The staff is extremely friendly and very helpful. I had issues with my electric bikes battery and they took care of it hassle free! Ill only buy bikes from here because their service is top notch.
From the very first time I have never had a better customer service experience for service on my Fitbike, HIGHLY recommend you bring them any and all bike related issues!
Great selection and easy bike rental process. Got a flat, and found out they had given me a tire repair kit with a broken tube and no pump or C02 canister. They were apologetic and replaced it when I went back in.
Terrible customer service, no experience in straightening wheels. Tires are directional and they installed them backwards. Returned bike with a flat tire. Charged $24 for a new chain and $25 to install way overpriced !
I dropped in to Summit to see about upgrading my 30 yr old Specialized with 1000s of miles and as many memorable rides. It quickly became evident it was far too costly, economically I was better off purchasing a new bike. After several test rides and a conversation I selected my bike. Within a week my bike was built, my accessories were installed and my I was ready to ride home. Darcy, Kevin and Vin are knowledgeable, patient and helpful- these guys are genuine. No hard sale or pressure just a great experience. If youre in need of anything bike related stop in and see this great group of guys at Santa Clara Summit
Staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Would go back again!
Got back into mountain biking after a long hiatus. Summit was running a killer sale so I bought myself a new bike. The service is exemplary. All the employees at both this location and the one at the Plant on curtner street have been incredibly helpful and genuinely seem to enjoy their work and getting people to bike more. Add on the free summit maintenance service and its even better. Will definitely buy from them again.
These guys are awesome. Hands down the best shop in the area. The service team is highly knowledgeable and willing to help with anything. I have been here over five times and every staff member was helpful, respectful, and took care of my needs in a timely manner. All of the service members ride regularly and are up on the latest and greatest technology, but do not try an up-sell you. They give you all the pros and cons and let you make an informed descision. Personally I have learned a ton from them .I do not understand some of the other reviews on here, it sounds to me like some people have unreasonable expectations. If you treat people with attitude they are less likely to want to help you. I have personally seen these guys patiently and professionally assist customers who have ridiculous expectations. Additionally I have been to a handful of other shops who will schedule service on your bike out weeks if you did not purchase it there. These guys do not do that and have always turned my bikes around in under a week, even when a suspension component had to go back to the manufacturer for a defect. These guys are top notch. In my opinion, anybody who thinks otherwise is probably one of those people you just cannot please no matter what.Summit Bikes is the only place that I have perform any service on any of my 3 bicycles.
Expensive and bad service.I took my bike there to adjust the brakes. They said that it was necessary to bleed off the brakes and charged 80 dollars for that.At the first time that I used the bike after the service the brakes still didnt work properly. I took it there again and they wanted to charge 40$ for another try bleeding the brakes.I went to another bike shop and they just replaced the brake pads ( at Summit bikes they said that the pads were ok) and now the brakes work.
My wife and I purchased two bikes at this location and received great attention and service. The salespeople helped us find the right models and accessories to meet our needs. We chose to go with Trek, which is the main brand they carry. The best part about the experience was that no one seemed pushy - it was about what made us happy. After purchasing and going for a couple of rides, my wife realized she had chosen the wrong size bike. We took hers back and they accepted it back to exchange with no issue. We havent yet had to utilize their services for repairs/tune ups, but Im confident that theyre great at this as well.Would highly recommend to anyone in Santa Clara looking to buy a bike.
I took my bike in for service, because they know what to go to solve issues.
I ordered and paid for a bike from this shop. After waiting for the bike and never receiving a shipping notice, I decided to look up my order. They canceled the order and didnt even bother to tell me. They then claimed that they didnt even have the bike that was clearly on their website because, um, I purchased it on their website. Really weak.
Efficient, helpful, safe.
Hired a road bike at short notice on a visit to the area in September 16. Staff friendly and knowledgeable. Suggested great routes. Good selection of gear as well. Will be back next time Im in Santa Clara.
Took a wheel rim failure in for repair, and they coordinated a free replacement from Trek (under warranty) in less than a week. Five stars for that! Got the bike home and realized the tire was low. Gave it a few pumps and the tube popped. Pulled off the tire and realized that they did not install rim tape, so the tube entered the spoke hole and popped. Kind of disappointed that they would miss this, just glad I found it at home vs the middle of a long ride.
I had ordered a bike which was available in-store more than 2 weeks back. I have been contacting summit bicycles via phone and email. Till now I have not got any response regarding the status of my order. Very disappointed by their service. I wish I had chosen a different store to purchase.
Buying a bike here is like getting things at the grocery store. Things are stacked up just pick and checkout.I did not get any customer service and the agent that got my bike was quite rude. I bought a bike and had to wait 2 weeks to get it, I wasnt even given a courtesy call informing that the bike was ready. When I went to pick the bike after calling and checking about my purchase I was given a dusty bike, not even the tires inflated.I asked the price of an accessory, the agent shodly showed me something without explaining any thing, so I picked up my phone and started researching about the best accessory product. The agent became rude and asked me to order stuff online.PS: I just bought a bike here because my office gives a subsidy to buy bikes here. Also following the rude agents advice I went online only to find out all accessories were reallllyy over priced there. (may be that was the reason the agent was so defensive about researching their accessories)
I walked in because I was looking for a bike shop open on a monday and I needed fenders. The folks at Summit showed me fenders that would work for my bike, and they offered to put them on my bike and to come back in a half hour. Well I came back a half hour later, and the fenders werent done yet, because they discovered one of the included bolts on the fender was rubbing against the bike when it shouldnt. The Summit folks took the time to grind down the bolt, getting everything fitting properly. It took a lil longer than 30 min, but honestly Im super glad these folks took the time to make it right, rather than rushing. I will definitely be back.
Bought a Hightower LT online from Summit Bicycles. There was some damage in shipping due to rough handling. I contacted them online and Kory did a fantastic job getting everything resolved and me on my new bike in a day. I had a great experience and would definitely recommend them.
Amazing service and multiple bike options with fair prices. Highly recommend it.
I brought my mountain bike to Summit Bicycles Santa Clara in October 2017 for a full service, including shock service and bleeding of brakes plus seat post. Price for the service was more than $500. The technician told me it will take 2 weeks, but it took 6 weeks. On the initial uphill section of the first ride after the service, the rear-shock lost significant pressured and sacked completely. I could finish the ride after pumping it up several times, but it was clear that was broken. Brought the bike back to Summit Bicycles. They said they can’t fix the shock and need to send it to the manufacturer in France for service. This took 4 months. When I finally came to pick up my bike, the front brake was not working. This took another 3 weeks. In total it took more than 6 months to get my bike back. I was always told they would call me with updates or tell me when the bike is ready to pickup, but they never did. When I called them on the pickup day, they usually told me that they didn’t get to it yet and that they will start now immediately. Summit Bicycles charged me another $110 for fixing the rear shock they broke.
Took my bike in for maintenance they did a horrible job asked them to true my rim came back looking the same like if they didn’t touch it at all.Another thing is I took my bike in full with air and came back flat looked on my inner tube and it was cut
Very backward interms of technology and not very helpful staff. Bought arm warmers and sun sleeves in an event hosted by these folks at work and these guys wouldn’t exchange it for a smaller size at store without the receipt (Unfortunately I said no to receipt). Staff didn’t seem to be interested in helping out either. In an era where other stores give one year return, not sure how or why I would want to come back here. Sports Basement or REI it is!
Brought my used road bike (freshly bought on craigslist) here and not only did they fix the gear setting in minutes, they also provided me with a lot of tips! Will definitely come back here for further service and bikes!
Great personalized shopping experience by the manager! Have recommended this store to my family and friends.
Definitely not going back, taking 9 days just to switch tires and rims.
Great phone service. Etgar helped me decide on a good bike and even put the bike on hold for next day pick up.
Terrible bike shop. Wanted to get the Trek FX-5, last Wednesday, they said that would order it and have it ready in a week. They did not have it assembled this Wednesday, but assured me that theyll have it done by Thursday; I have called on Thursday and they did not assemmble it either, but the guy has told me he will personally assemble it so that I can pick it up on Friday morning. I came here on Friday evening and of course it was not ready - got a refund on my deposit (also took about 20 minutes) and bought the bike elsewhere. Cheaper. On the same day.
Good place to buy bikes
This is the place to be when it comes to repairing and maintenance for your bike. I had my deurailer and hanger messed up, Jake with one look he knows already whats wrong on my bike. Im new to mountain biking and basically have no idea about bikes. Jake gave me some advices and tips about my bike. The best part is, he didnt charge me a dime! This bike shop for sure will be my to go shop. I dont really write reviews but this time im going to write every single reviews site for Summit bicycle. I even download the yelp app back in my cellphone coz damn yelp app will direct me to open the app before i can write review! This place is highly recomended, customer service is superb and the crew are knowlegable!
**FINAL UPDATE**I’ve been asked to not shop/talk at this shop due to my historic experience and treatment of the two employees. Bringing the rating back down to 1 star.I find it totally and completely disrespectful that I’m treated the way I am now and asked to not shop there after I’ve spent money there disregarding my past experiences; they were very rude to me wasted my time in the past and now this.Definitely not a good experience with this shop.**UPDATE**After visiting this Summit location recently, they were very helpful. I was helped my Jacob who not only answered my ridiculous questions for my race bike, but was also kind enough to provide some suggestions and feedback.I’ve increased my original overall rating from 1* to 3*’s as a result.-Massive thank you to Jacob.Competitive pricing, but has awful customer service. Seems like they don’t communicate with each other. My situation goes as following:I built a race bike, I’m entertaining the thoughts using ceramic bottom brackets/pulleys/wheel bearings. For 3 weeks now I’ve had the run around, and they cannot answer my question regarding what bottom bracket I should use, if a converter is needed etc. (I’d like to add that I’m going from a BB30 crank to a Sram GXP), and when I said please order the converter (the right one) so at least we can eliminate one issue... no one fills me in that the converter is in, or anything. I had to call a week later to get an update. Then when I call the day after confirming that I will come in, I’m told that I can, and I can leave my bike till Monday when they can get to it, just to see if the bottom bracket adapter (which is just two cups on both sides of the bottom bracket) will work/fit. I further clarified and asked if I just came in and they handed me an 8mm allen key to do it myself - this way I don’t have to buy then return it it if it doesn’t fit. I now get some rude attitude from Kory, telling me that I’m confrontational, etc. while not letting talk, he starts talking over me, etc. I personally like to educate myself to achieve what I need to do... I was definitely getting irritated at this point and I just hung up on Kory, as I am just getting the run around at this point, getting excuse after excuse why they didn’t call, reasons to why I can’t do that, or how booked they are, etc. Also, this specific Summit shop is consistently defensive. I once asked if they match online pricing, and immediately got a response that I’m being unreasonable for asking such a thing (even though I’m just trying to educate myself - which is why I’m asking in the first place).Personally, I know I’m difficult to handle as a customer as I have a high standard for customer service. Summit of Santa Clara just doesn’t meet my expectations.
Friendly staff, stopped by for a tire patch kit, it was 5 bucks, a few over than what was expected, but its a fancy shop! Coop bikes on display, check.it out if you need a bike!
Bought a bike there a year ago and came back for the complementary tune up. Not only did they do the regular service, they also upgraded the handles at no cost. Very friendly staff.
I went there to buy spare parts for my bike (tires and chain). When I asked them for a suggestion on the tires for my road bike, they suggested my to buy bontrager. They told that they have puncture protection on the tires. They also told that, I do not like the tires or if I face any problems with it, they will exchange it within 30 days of the purchase. As it happened, I got a flat on each of the tires and when I took it to them, it was as if they already knew that I would get flat on them. They were quick to get me a replacement but now they suggested a more expensive bontrager tire. Poor Customer Service. Employees lack proper training in handling new customers. They were rude, tried to upsell, and talked down most of the time. I then went to Off Ramp which is next door to this shop.
