Great place to play some of your favorite table top games or discover a new one!
It would be five stars if I lived closer to them! Great staff and friendly players. They usually have what you need.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Good variety of stock. Highly recommended.
Friend brought me to play a me first magic tournament here. I got completely destroyed with me 15 year old deck.Consolation prize was a bunch on newer cards. Almost enough to make an entire now new deck.
Its a smallish store but filled with fun game and model painting things. Shortages due to COVID can be a factor in things like paints they have available, though. You might want to call before you drive to check if they have what you want. There is some gaming / teaching space.
Nice community gaming store with a tabletop room in the back. Friendly and helpful staff
This place is tabletop game madness! The staff here is friendly and super helpful with a plethora of knowledge that they’re willing to share about all of the games in the store. There are multiple areas to play in, some that are free and others that are available to reserve and rent. They have a schedule full of fun and interesting things to do in the store that is updated regularly. The facilities are kept clean and tidy, and the shelves stocked. If you’re looking to get miniatures for your game night or a gift for someone who likes boardgames, this is the place to go.
Good pricing on paints and primers. Excellent boardgame selection and lots of pen and paper RPG resources.
Great to have a local game store. They are a chain with multiple locations which is good if the local store doesnt have what you need.. Good selection of board games, magic the gathering, miniatures, card games, and accessories. Hopefully they will get their gaming space going in the age of covid.
I would give this place 5 stars before but not after the exprience weve gotten from the staff especially the female employees. My friends and I used to play here all the time and but for whatever reason recently the staff have a supriority complex. We try to ask about new games and if they also play and they give us attitude like we dont belong here. They also talk behind your back like we cant hear them behind the counter. FYI voices echo in the store. So no i wouldnt recommend this place especially if you are new to tabletop gaming.
If youre expecting to see the classic board games here that are found everywhere else, this isnt for you. If you want to be guided through the overwhelming amount of options by a knowlegable staff, this is the place to go. We came here for a classic game found in most retail stores and left with a game we hadnt heard of before thats almosy as in depth as a videp game rpg. $40 and my wife and I have a game thatll entertain us for months and cant wait to discover something new. Only con is the selection is so big that sometimes not even the knowlegable staff know the game.
Great service here always. I usually pop in for a look at the books and games. They can order most everything that isnt in store and that is quick and easy.
My friends and family love coming to Game Kastle and purchasing the various paints and D&D figurines for our weekly campaigns, often times coming up with a story to incorporate as we paint and chat around a table. The employees are very friendly and go above and beyond when being helpful, even going so far as to give my son pokemon cards from their own collection when the store was out at the time.My only complaint would be that they do not price match online, but seeing the oversaturation on the marketplace I can understand to an extent
Good stock, good staff, and lots of tables to play at.
By far my favorite game store. They have a wide selection of games. The staff is friendly and helpful. And a great selection of dice. It checks all the boxes!
Awesome gaming store for a lot of popular tabletop boardgames. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly.
Our first visit and wow - we were so impressed with the knowledge shown by the staff. They took the time to understand our needs for a perfect birthday present. We will be back....
Parking is a bit odd, but great place for games and gaming!
Im not a big gamer, but I do play dice games. They have a pretty good selection, and the staff seem to be very nice.
Good inventory but said my magic the gathering cards where all fake when they where clearly not.
Full support of all current games. Good backup supplies, paint, groundwork and the like
Great selection and informative staff. Would absolutely go again.
Ive never had a bad experience. Channel Fireball is a hop, skip, and a jump away but I still basically only come here. One thing I really like is that theyre very keen on having their pricing as fair as possible. I remember one day I was looking for a challenger deck which was selling for like $50 elsewhere, but I go to game kastle and its there for MSRP (back when mtg had such a thing). If you like wargaming, its got great tables. They got rid of a few things, which was a bummer, but for the most part they still have great terrain.Check it out.
Best staff! The best place to get miniatures, hobby supplies, board games, war games, card games and accessories! Great prices and sales around!
This is by far the largest store in my local area with a wide array of selections. Very polite and helpful staff. When I want anything related to miniatures I usually come here first.
Matts an amazing DM.
Best place for gamers to shop. Love the dice section. Friendly atmosphere atmosphere great customer customer service
Nice selection, decent customer service.
Great store for Analog Gaming.
Not a gamer, but if I was this would be the place to go! That aside, I’m a modeler and they have a fantastic selection of paints and hobby accessories. Staff is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. Truly appreciate the safety measures (all the way down to the aisle directional arrows on the floor) during this pandemic.
As a model builder I visited this store looking for some detail items and weathering products. They had a great selection and found a few smaller items. Friendly staff and willing to help with the questions I had.
Came in to buy pokemon cards but was rudely greeted with Why are you selling them or actually playing them? Then went off on a tangent about how he hates people that buy bulk cards just to throw them away, implying i was one of them. Like it was of his concern. I collect and sell ones I dont need but it was extremely rude and unnecessary for this tall man to ask me this like if I were to give the wrong answer he wouldnt have sold me any. What I do with my money and the product I buy is absolutely none of his concern and he came off completely hostile. Wouldnt reccomend if youre looking for a judgment free game shop.
Really good selection, helpful staff!
Best environment for the casual player! The staff are amazing! Always welcoming and helpful. Their prices are always fair; never gouged on high-demand products. This is my go-to for FNM and all MTG products.
This and the other Game Kastle stores are some of the best game stores I have come across! Fantastic selection, great communities, and helpful staff.
Post covid protocol review: super safe space, and the staff is awesome as always.
Awesome source of paints and wargaming supplies locally.
Game Kastle is always great. They may not always have what you want but can usually direct you to another branch or order it for you.
Great store friendly people. Lots of minuratures. They have magic the gathering as well as board gamrs
Good game selection and friendly staff. Happy to see they are taking extra COVID precautions to keep everyone safe.
The new staff is super nice and they went above and beyond my expectations. Great selection of board games and the largest miniature paints selection I have ever seen.
Staff are very friendly. Plus, they even have hard to find products, like D&D minis from past editions and a handbook for Vampire
A well stocked, diverse hobby shop. Excellent, kind staff that are very knowledgeable to the customers needs. Very clean and pleasant. My favorite Bay area hobby shop. Plenty of parking, with 2 rooms and plenty of space for gaming.
Amazing knowledgeable staff, always willing and happy to help us and my kids find the right games and items for our games. Love this place ❤
Decent selection of board games. Definitely a miniatures oriented game store. Nice selection of paints and miniature/war game style items. Large back room for use of warhammer and similar games which was very impressive. Smaller selection of card games and little but sufficient table space for such games. Overall nice store with friendly staff.
Ive had consistently positive interactions with employees here, good customer service, and feel like the organization took cautious thoughtful action during covid to protect employees while still providing excellent service.
Super helpful and knowledgeable staff, exactly why you go to a brick and mortar store!
This place is super friendly towards gamers of all kinds-- new and old, card gamers, board gamers, tabletop gamers, etc. It has a little snack bar with drinks which you can buy foods to sustain yourself while playing for hours in the two rooms on the side they have set up for you to play in (which you can do so free of charge). Just be aware if there are events-- which they host a lot of-- so you wont go in and everything will be filled up. You can always look at their tournament or event schedules to see whats going on. As for the wares and products they sell, its well-stocked and has a lot of options. If they dont have what you want, you can ask for them to order it in. Their bathrooms are super clean and nice. Its a really great place!
This place is amazing, great selection and wonderful staff. I give the store itself five stars, but based on what day of the week youre there the community in the back might be some of the lesser-washed people. The people who work there are all nerds, and in a store like this that is a great thing. The environment is wonderful, and there is a huge gaming space in the back of the store capable of holding dozens of people, its literally two Auto Service Garage Bays linked together. Its on an unfortunate corner of Coleman Avenue where the only exit Streetside goes onto a branch that has a way to go before you can get onto 101. My advice is to exit by the Collision Center instead of the entrance to the parking lot
Great location much larger than Fremont and staff is just as knowledgeable and helpful. I will be back hoping to actually play there when this all blows over.
This store brought me into the hobby world and started whats gonna be a lifelong obsession with miniature painting. Their employees are nice, informative and knowledgeable. Their selection of games, miniatures, paints and modeling equipment is Amazing! They have just about everything you need. Every time I am in town I always make sure to stop by and Ill be coming here for years to come.
Joe and Sarah were amazing! I came in like a blank slate wanting to become a DM for D&D. They were so helpful and passionate and yet low pressure on sales. I would recommend buying here so we can keep Game Kastle around. The help I got was priceless!!!!!
Great, very knowledgeable staff. I dont know the name of the two ladies working, but they had all the answers I needed. And really know how to promote the Game Castle Brand. They told me about the new location opening in Sacramento!
Best game store in the south bay. Has play space. Tournaments. Minis. Board games. And still some rpgs on the shelves
I love this place. They have all the games you expect, plus an eclectic selection of other awesome games and items that Im always super excited to see.
It a great store which a wonderful selection. What is a downer is theres no price matching at this location. That would have made me make a purchase when I visited.
Theres another game store that I like better in almost every way, but this place has something very important going for it that many other stores do not have, and that is a seriously comprehensive retail selection.I cant really speak to their events or gaming space because I havent actually partaken in those. I didnt even realize they had a gaming space until reading reviews, because apparently, its hidden behind a doorway that looks like a staff only area behind the counter. I was going to take off points for that, but obviously I was wrong, so all I can say is the promotion of their space and events leaves a lot to be desired. They also have some sort of rewards or discount program, but it sounds like something you either have to sign up for or call well in advance of a release to take advantage of, so just like their gaming space and events, its kind of a foggy area for new customers just stopping by to browse for the first time. I know of other stores that are either more generous or more transparent with these kinds of things. But like I said, the retail selection is the crown jewel of this store. Theres still another store I need to check out in this area, but from the places Ive visited so far, nowhere else comes close. They carry a lot of games, both popular and obscure, as well as plenty of expansions, miniatures, role playing books, paints, cards, you name it. In every other store Ive been to, Ive looked for a specific game and not found it. But that has not happened to me once in this store. If Im interested in a title, I can generally expect to find it here. Thats extremely impressive considering there are so many games. Obviously, no store can carry everything. But if you want to find a title that youre hearing a lot of buzz about, chances are it will be here. Also, this seems to be the only store with clearly marked sales and clearance items. It drives me crazy to no end when stores expect you to subscribe to the on social media to be notified of sales, instead of being able to just walk in and see whats available. So kudos to them for that as well.Like I said, there are other stores I prefer in almost every way. But for making retail purchases, I cant help but think youre just better off coming here. I dont know. Maybe its just my tastes. But more often than not, if Im interested in a title, this place seems to have it and others dont. And at the end of the day, thats more important than all the other little things (which they do just fine as well).
This place continues to be great.
I had to write a review for Game Kastle after I saw it had only received a score of 24/30, when it is so deserving of top marks. There is so much to do and see here that even if you arent currently participating in any games, or are just curious, then get over there to experience it for yourself. There is a wealth of board games, miniatures, paints and hobby supplies, cases, books, you name it. You can spend so much time in there just browsing and with a large gaming area, even participate yourself.I highly recommend this store, the staff here are knowledgeable and very friendly, and the other customers are ready to share their experiences. If you are into board games, war gaming or just like to lose yourself in books, then head on over to one of the best game stores in the US, right on your doorstep.
Awesome store, super helpful and friendly staff - I lucked into finding out I work down the road from both this store and Game Kastle HQ and Im stoked. They have a great selection of games, paints, miniatures, and books, and its so easy to talk to the employees and learn new things. This store has everything I look for in a hobby/niche-type store that lets newcomers get a taste and feel welcome.
This is a long overdue review. This place is fantastic for D&D gatherings and other gatherings for games. Our D&D group typically meets up there once a week and I cannot stress enough how helpful the staff are there. They want you to be happy and they make sure youre situated happily by helping you setup tables and chairs and ensuring you enjoy your stay. They have a small snack section with most snacks being $1 or $2 for drinks, it really is fantastic pricing when youre living in their for hours. And a good wide selection. As for actual items in the store, we ended up all getting our figures there. And if you want something in particular, just ask them and they can order it for you free and you can come pick it up and pay when its in. They have a HUGE selection of games, rpgs, board games, the whole lot. They also have games on site that you can play with your friends if you just ask them.So yeah, Id say this is the best place to nerd out. Friendly staff and fantastic accommodations!
Nice tabletop hobby shop with a good assortment of miniatures, paint, card games, board games, and more. Also has rooms in the back where people come and play them as well as some video games like smash bros.
Oh my word.... I have driven by this place a ton of times and thought it was just a gaming store. They have all of the paint for modeling I could ever need.
Played in a X Wing Tournament. Had a great time and played against some good players. Drove down from Stockton to play. Wish our X Wing Community was big like this. Also the Board gaming and Miniature gamers are also a big group. Large gaming area and a large selection of games.
The staff is always so eager and helpful when answering any questions
Love this place. Nive big area to play games with friends. Some games you can play for free. Decently large collection of games for purchase. Any others can be ordered. I come back all the time.
They were super nice and super helpful. I called ahead and they had my games waiting when I arrived.
Friendly and knowledgeable clerks. Amazing store and lots of area to play great games.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff with plenty of variety for any one looking to find a new game!
The store went through a remodeling of sorts recently and its definitely a major improvement in terms of layout. Everything is neatly organized and easy to find, and the selection of stock is excellent. Whether youre looking for something mainstream like Magic the Gathering or a bit more obscure such as Tunnels and Trolls (no, Im not making that up), Game Kastle should be able to hook you up.
Great friendly people both working and playing here. A really nice place to go set up and play. Their game selection is pretty nice to.
Very good place to buy board games. You can also try and Play the demo games for free.
The store itself is small and a little run down. However, it is very generous of them to let people use their gaming area for free for table top games, meetups and for hanging out. Perhaps a built in cafe would help generate more revenue. The cafe + board games meetup area formula is very popular in Toronto.
Great place to buy all your Pokemon card needs. I come over from Sunnyvale every once in a while. They have a Pokemon league every Sunday, and a pre release event for the new Pokemon Sets as well before they come out. As well as a great rewards system, this should be a go to for any Pokemon fan in the area
Pretty cool store. If youre looking for final fantasy trading cards. They got them! Super friendly staff! Ill be back!
Great game shop
Great place to buy and play games--just much more cramped (and less HVAC) than Mountain View location
Very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Excellent selection of games and hobby supplies.
Awesome hobby store that has it all whether its cards, dungeons & dragons, figurines, games, or tournaments. You are sure to find and make new friends every night !
Lots of game choices and helpful staff. Room to play board games for free, and they even have a premium room for rent. My husband and I have gotten quite a few of our board game collection from here.
FULL DISCLOSURE: I am NOT a gamer...at least, not of the type Game Castle caters to (tho, many, many moons ago, I was heavily into D&D). Although, technically, I am a gamer, Im just a gamer of a different type...I do play PC & VR games (some PC-based, some Oculus Quest-based). However, this review is being written from a non-gamers perspective. My purpose for going to Game Kastle was purely for paint (ok, so I also picked up a brush), and its not intended for miniature figures...miniatures, yes, but of the RC/variety. Specifically, I needed something for the headlight buckets of a 1/10 crawler (specifically, an Axial Capra, for those who might be interested in knowing). My intention was chrome, but the person assisting me suggested White Aluminum. Initially, I was skeptical...I truly thought chrome would work best...but, I decided to give it a shot. I figured, if it didnt work, I could return, and get the chrome I had intended. Long story, short, the White Aluminum turned out better than Id expected.Anyway, the store is extremely well-organised, the layout is very user-friendly, the staff appears to be quite knowledge (I got this from overhearing bits & pieces of them helping other customers), plus they are friendly & helpful (a HUGE plus in this day & age, where most people/businesses have forgotten what the words customer service truly mean). While Game Kastle doesnt cater to R/C enthusiasts, maybe they should consider, at least, the possibility of advertising their lineup of paints (usable on hard plastics, but NOT Lexan) to the R/C crowd. On my short trip there yesterday, I didnt notice any spray cans...but, theyve got LOTS of brush-paintable colors to choose from.To close, Ill be going back there today. Yesterday, I was focused on two things - getting the one color I needed for the headlight buckets, and getting back home as quickly as possible (had corned beef cooking in the oven). However, today, Ill be going back, as I need a few specific (although, as yet, undecided) colors. This time, while Im there, I also plan to further explore the store. While the LHSs (thats local hobby shops, to those not familiar with the term) will continue to take a reasonable amount of my money for R/C-specific items, I have a certain feeling that Game Kastle will become one of my primary go-tos for (non-Lexan) paints, as well as brushes (the brush selection, while not huge, is fairly large).
They just replaced all of the shelving in the store and it feels so much nicer and cleaner. Wide isles easy to browse selection lots of board games and misfires as well as paints and other miniature related craft supplies. Warehouse can smell of teen angst mixed with an axe deodorant bottle esp on summer days
Plenty of space, very good game selection. Its great that you can play any game in their library for free. They also host events, but havent been to any yet.
This game store is well-stocked with a diverse range of tabletop games, and the parking lot makes it very accessible. The staff are very knowledgeable and accommodating, making sure to speak to both my husband and myself. This makes me feel like they value my time and input, which is important to me as a female gamer. They offer a membership service, which allows you to pre-order games at a discount, which is a nice perk.
New to the area and this place was amazing. It has everything Im go in to need in the bear future.
My favourite gaming store in the bay area! The selection is fantastic (most of my dozen or so sets of dice are from here), and the staff is very helpful. If youre looking for something specific that they dont have in stock, ask them and they can often order it for you.
Great selection of games and hobbyist stuff. Also friendly and knowledgeable staff!
Great place to play games. Lots of tables and often a pretty full house. Meet up with friends or make some new ones (seriously, people here are friendly!).
A very well stocked game store. Has board games, table top games, card games (Magic the Gathering especially) and supplies for expanding booth. Holds social events for gaming on location. Very helpful staff.
Good selection of games, many styles and options. They had paper versions of one of my favorite comics, order of the stick! They also host tournaments and gatherings. I think its great in general :)
The best game stores I have ever been in. The selection is outstanding!!!
Great place! The guys behind the desk are such friends! They know their games so it’s way to talk to them! I️ play FNM here, would highly recommend! Fantastic community atmosphere!
The staff here is always so friendly! Great selection! Clean store! Whats not to love?
Wider selection than most game stores; very helpful staff; large gaming area hosting frequent events; modest loyalty program.
I am very new to the world of tabletop gaming and was a bit apprehensive about asking for help. I am so glad that I found Game Kastle! They had hundreds of games in stock and the guys who worked there were very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. I gave them a super vague description of what I was looking for and I was promptly taken on a 15 minute tour of several great games that might fit my needs. Amazing customer service! My friend and I ended up leaving with a game each and they were both fantastic. I look forward to visiting again soon.
Awesome people, taking good precautions currently
Good selection for CCGs, minis and all sorts of board games, with a super friendly and helpful staff. Citadel paints restock on Fridays typically.
One of the few remaining specialty shops of its kind. If youre looking for something new to play or finding a group to play with, this is the spot to check out
