Amazing experience. Its a calm and nice hangout where you can get a cup if tea, some scrumptious mouthwatering snacks, and play some games of your choice with your friends after a hard day of work. Its also a place to finish your work as its calming and has a subtle and cool vibe. After a stressful day, I can always hang out by myself or with friends and have a relaxing time! I definitely recommend this amazing place!
Very special place - please check them out and treat yourself to some loose leaf - its worth the price!
As others have noted, due to covid theres only one tea right now, but it is wonderful. I stopped by for the first time and had a lovely time sitting on the patio, surrounded by plants. The owner was very kind and gracious.
Hidden Peak is the Hidden Gem of Santa Cruz! If you are a tea nerd youll already know of this place. Davids Pu-erhs are fantabulous. This place is like stepping into a dream... its a must stop for anyone interested in tea culture!
Simply the best tea house in the Western hemisphere.Superb teas, full traditional Chinese Gong Fu Cha experience, the owner is super friendly and knowledgeable. You can have a good cup for an affordable price. Make sure to try and have a cup with the owner!
If you are visiting Santa Cruz Hidden Peak TeaHouse is the must to go place. The best traditional teas, the atmosphere, ambiance, NO Electronics to be used . Having owners David sharing his wast knowledge about tea is the bonus. Always welcoming staff and very calm atmosphere. Great place to have group gatherings, friends together to have conversations or if you need place and time to reflect and contemplate is perfect !There are outstanding collection of fine teas to try and learn how to serve.I wish there would be such place in every city!
My friend and I, had such a lovely time at Hidden Peak Tea Place in Santa Cruz. Due to Covid, there is only one tea available and it was perfect. Daniel, has such a calming spirit and is so knowledgeable about the various teas they sell along with the unique tea pots and how best to utilize them. The outside area, where we had our tea, was peaceful. It was an amazing experience. Thank you!
What a real gem! On a weekend trip up the coast Santa Cruz was on the list! Never having visited this ol school city l had to research effectively to make my stops count! Hidden Peak Tea above artisan coffee houses and other tea places was my top pick!I was SPOT ON!!! A true tea haven! Transported into the tea world in such nice way! Selections with wide range, Oolongs to Pu-erh and Green to White Teas the options are very nice! Premium for sure and the treatment of the leaves is Top Priority!!!My family including parents and cousins all new to the tea game loved it!! If you seek tea, here you will most definitely find it!!!There is a rule of no cell phones, but l had to at least show you all the beauty of whats in store if you visit!!
Definitely get a sense of being transported to another time and place. Really bright sunny day but once you walk in and sit down, you just feel like you are in a completely new environment. Being a long time fan of pu’er, I am so happy after introducing it to my friends that they enjoyed it! Their sweetbreads were a nice complement to the tea. We had a blast serving each other!
Really neat experience. It a good place to just hang out for a couple hours. The tea tastes great and they have a good range of flavors and price points. They have cookies as well. Some games, cards, and books are there as well to enjoy while you drink your tea. They do not allow phones or electronics of any kind.
The tea was delicious. Due to Covid they’re only serving a single type of tea and it’s take out or drink on their patio. I can’t wait to go when they’re fully reopened, the inside is decorated great - very cosy.
Absolutely wonderful atmosphere and staff. The tea was amazing and the digital free zone makes the experience so much better. Spent well over an hour enjoying my tea and reading a book from their in-house library. Thoroughly recommend if youre ever in Santa Cruz.
I can’t post any photos of my visit, because the place is a device free zone. It was really lovely though; turning the phone off made it very easy to be in the moment and enjoy my tea date with my husband. The place was very quiet and peaceful, and offered both indoor and outdoor seating. Having never poured tea in this traditional way, a server showed us how and poured our first pot. The full tea service comes with as much water as you’d like, so you can sit and pour cup and cup.
What a wonderful and unique experience. The tea is amazing. They also offer a vegan menu that has many sweet and savory options. If you want a unique setting a quiet afternoon tea experience, this is your place.
I’ve just been to this spot once and was completely smitten. The tea host was awesome and explained the process and ritual of using the tea set. He was also very nice to look at and super knowledgeable about the tea selection. I tried a Pu-erh tea that was nice and mellow. There is a wide selection of different kinds of teas I’ve never heard of and I’m excited to try them all one by one. This place does not allow electronics and that is just fine with me; it makes a great place to bring that special friend to chat with or a book and sketchbook to study with. There is a small library and some games, to use in house if you choose. The ambiance is dark and mysterious antiques with an East Asian flare. There is also a beautiful patio that is semi enclosed. The entrance is in an ally(which is also well thought out)to cut down on traffic noise, I’m sure. Also, I had a chocolate, orange with cardamom cream cup. So good. I will be returning very soon. Thank you so much for the space.
Quiet serenity and lovely tea.
Amazing atmosphere even better people. You walk through the door into a completely new world. Ive never tasted tea as good as what Ive drunken here. Bucket-list destination.
I love this place, they genuinely understand and appreciate tea as a culinary form. Very rarely can I find a place in the United States as good as this place. I took my parents here when I was in college, and they were equally impressed. Its a no phone area, so its great for studying, and or just having awesome conversation, looks of books and board games like chess and go to play as well.
Gotta say I love this place! Such a peaceful atmosphere, and loved the tea. My fiance took me here to get some relaxation on my birthday, we used all 20 pours and got a nice little energy kick from the tea we got, then went and cruised the beach. Check this place out for a sensual, relaxing, and fun date!
A Santa Cruz gem and in my opinion the best place to go in Santa Cruz. The owner is seriously knowledgeable about his teas. The range of tea varieties and methods on offer is impressive. Staff are all lovely. This place is a relaxing sanctuary away from the world. Also a great place to really talk with family or friends. The interesting food is very good too.
I came by myself and sat at a lovely wooden table and poured pot after pot of a lovely shou puerh. I usually like to share tea with friends but i enjoyed this experience very much. Will be back again and hopefully with a friend or two
One of a kind place in hundreds of miles around. This is a traditional tea house, the closest one you can find is in San Francisco. We’ve been coming here all the way from San Jose, just for this outstanding experience.
Hidden Peak has a wide variety of pu-erh teas available both for sit-down gung-fu service and to buy and take home to enjoy. The digital-free teahouse is so unique, comfortable, and takes you back to simpler times. The atmosphere in the teahouse is so accessible, but still has a sacred feel to it, and one where I go to truly feel at rest. I love their pu-erh selection, especially their house specialty Unblended brick. If youre lucky youll catch the owner and get to hear about tea and more, depending on the day. The servers are also very educated on the teas and can show you how to do a gung-fu service if its your first time. This teahouse is a sanctuary and a home for all that come here. And if youre not local, you have to buy some tea to take home! I dont know where else you can get some amazing pu-erh!
Great place for legit, authentic tea! Specializing in puer teas but theres something for everyone. Get educated about tea while enjoying a fantastic ambiance, nice snacks and good people.
I love good green tea. It is the only good tea house in town In my opinion. Want to just sit and chat and get tea with a friend? This is the place. As long as you dont mind putting your phone/computer away to have a pristine conversation or meditation time.
I like tea and I drink tea... I went here for the first time tonight, it is an amazingly peaceful atmosphere to have tea. But I feel that my eyes were opened to a world of tea that I didnt know existed. The owner was enlightened to the way of tea and my experience was delightful to say the least! A must do on the bucket list!
I would really love to suggest that more stars be available to me, because five isnt enough. I love this place. The tea is exceptionally great, the service and atmosphere as well. I dont remember ever finding such a place before. It is fertile ground for meditation, self reflection or connection with others. The fact that it is digital free is extremely welcoming to me. I could not speak highly enough about it. It is one of my very favorite places, and I include everywhere Ive ever been in that.
This is one of my favorite places I’ve ever been to. Try everything you can, but don’t dare leave without the rice balls and unblended shou.
Very cool teahouse, they dont allow electronic devices so it is a great place to sit and connect with friends and family. Definitely a place I will be coming back to when I am in Santa Cruz.
Great selection. Amazing atmosphere. The staff is more than willing to help you learn the art of drinking tea.
I stumbled onto this place a few months ago by accident when I needed a nice quiet date place to take my girlfriend on an early date. Hidden Peak was perfect. We both loved it. Amazing tea, good atmosphere, no distractions, relaxing, nice staff....what else could you want? We ended coming back just a few days ago and it was just as good as the first visit. We learned about tea from the knowledgeable staff and really enjoyed ourselves. It is one of our personal favorites. Highly recommend it!
Its hard to describe a feeling. Still, I will try. When I go to the Hidden Peak, I feel as though Ive taken a step back in time and to a place where time doesnt matter and I have a chance to sample rare and exotic teas from another time. I sincerely hope you will take the time to visit and let the ambience seep in.
Hidden Peak Teahouse is an asian inspired teahouse for conversation. In Taipei, Tokyo and other major cities individuals and families look for places to relax and enjoy a moment away from the modern world. Often times a small amount of tranquil reflection gears one up for the challenges ahead. Hence teahouses and shrines are often found in alleys throughout Asia.
Very friendly staff, amazing traditional styled tea and great variety. Everything is very tasty and the electronic free rule adds to the overall atmosphere very nicely.
Authentic, delicious and a great place to get together with friends. One of the great little treasures of Santa Cruz and not to be missed. At HealthCMi, we have been to tea houses all over the world, this place ranks right up there with the very best. Clean and beautiful, relaxing and enjoyable. Something for everyone.
Interesting little place to sit and drink tea they have an interesting selection of various kinds of tea available, several kinds of green tea that I have never heard of and they also have several different containers that they serve it to you in there is also no electronics allowed in side the restaurant to help with the meditative vibe apparently. The waiters bring a big pot of boiling water and a bowl of raw Tea Leaf out for you its relaxing
This is a hidden gem of Santa Cruz, a true treasure. David has traveled far and wide to learn the nuances of Chinese Tea, and collected one of a kind tables chairs and incredible decor from China and probably beyond. Try the classic Puer, it is as satisfying as coffee, but super healthy!
A unique & fantastic tea experience. If you only visit a few places on your stay in Santa Cruz make this one of them. Serene & beautiful!
Interesting experience but expensive and confusing menu. We ordered one $12 tea for 5 people to try but ended up paying $60 with tip. There was fine print that each extra shot glass used to survey tea cost money. The experience was different
This is a place to be sacred, to interact with friends and loved ones, to be in ceremony. No transactions, only interactions.
One of the gems of Santa Cruz. If you like tea, go here. Its a rare experience of an Asian/silk road style teahouse experience with an incredible selection of pu-erh, green, black, white, and herbal teas. Also served in the gungfu style upon request.
One of Santa Cruz’s hidden treasures! Love going there for a relaxing round of tea on a rainy day! It’s quiet and the staff are super nice and helpful!
This is a special place. A great experience to unplug and slow down and have a real conversation. We like it for dates - get the tea service where you brew and pour tiny pots into tiny cups repeatedly, and give yourselves a full couple hours just to make each other tiny cups of tea and sip and hang out.
I had a great time at the Hidden Peak Teahouse. The tea is amazing. They make the indoor space digital free. Snacks are healthy and tasty.
Randomly bummed in for a second and ended up spending an hour on a fantastic tasting listening to stories. One of those places that really loves what it does
Great place to escape from digital world.Delicious tea, quite atmosphere.
I loved the atmosphere, being able to chat and pour tea, no devices allowed, it was a place to experience!
Lovely tea shop. You arent allowed to use cell phones and electronics, so come ready for good conversation and quality time (and good tea!).
Its such a good vibe. Nothing quite like the HPT
This is a very peaceful teahouse, perfect for enthusiasts and anyone who just wants to get away and relax. This is a digital free zone to help promote the peace that their service provides. Very inexpensive, and and overall amazing experience from knowledgable a servers.
Amazing tea, wonderful ambiance, and digital free! There is also an EXTREMELY cute blonde boy who works there. Easily the best server they have.
I suggest the Trinity! This place is wonderful - beautiful places to sit and think, go and chess boards available, wonderful books on the shelves.
Tea is wonderful, was able to sit in on history of tea by owner which was very wonderful. Loved the no device rule.
Perfect place to digitally detox. Exquisite carved wood tea trays and all sorts of artifacts make you feel like you climbed a mountain to get there.
🍵 great spot to hang out and relax. Great atmosphere and super knowledgeable staff!
A true sanctuary, such a beautiful space of safety and nourishment. Go and be at ease.
Incredible spot! Support local businesses like this one!
What an amazing place! A truly unique experience with amazing authentic teas from China. The ceremony of Kung Fu tea drinking is quite special and fascinating. Even our kids love coming here.
Such a relaxing place to enjoy tea. Cell phone free zone makes it even better.
Great place to get distracted from the outside world and enjoy a proper cup of tea - no devices are allowed in the place
A no digital device policy perfects this peaceful cozy teahouse. A must visit for puerh lovers.
An enjoyable place to have tea. selection is okay. very comfortable.
My favorite place to relax with amazing hi quality tea. The crazyness of the world seems to fade the moment you walk in.
Great tea. Wonderful people
This place feeds my chi. Serenity in the midst of chaos.Dr. P.
Like the Taj Mahal stands as a grand testament with its grace and beauty, to remind us of the depth of one mans love for a woman; this little Teahouse is the physical manifestation of one mans life long devotion to the art of tea, ritual, and history. What a blessing it is to have such genuine depth of culture, available to us and administered with such passion and love. From the aged pu-erh tea bricks, to the traditional gung fu tasting ceremonies, to the one of kind tables resurrected from ancient sunken ship wrecks.David and his teahouse of antiquity, will transport you back through time, guided to a place of quiet contemplation and appreciation for the simpler things in life. It will touch your soul in ways a place of business rarely can and change the way you not only see tea; but also what it means to live a life of your design and passion, for the service of others. Thank you David for this profound experience and for sharing your love with the community!
The tea is the main dish. A very authentic Asian - style tea room.
Amazing puehr tea and ambiance. Best place to relax and enjoy tea.
Like the experience, but definitely high-end tea/quiet atmosphere to relax.
Very nice place. The waiter had asbergers or something but I like the no cell phone rule.
Wasnt necessarily a quiet atmosphere, but it was relaxing enough. Staff were knowledgeable and tea was good quality.
This place is one of my favorite things in Santa Cruz. I try to stop by every time Im in SC. It is a gem, and the Yunnan Gold(?) is to die for.
Amazing little cove to #decompress & digital detox!
Excellent service. Perfect no tech policy for minimal distractions.
A gem tucked away in downtown Santa Cruz, serving traditional gong fu style pu-erh along with a selection of green and oolong. A digital-free zone, switch off and enjoy time with a friend or spend time scribbling in a journal or chatting with the knowledgeable staff and charismatic owner
Not engaging rather pretentious... Not even as nice as many tea spots in SF or Austin. Basically what rich white people think tea culture is about.
Check your stress (and turn off your cell phone) at the door. Excellent teas in a tranquil setting, with helpful servers to show you the traditional methods of preparing the tea.
For the first time, I had a tea ceremony like be in China, but we didnt have any sugar and a aquestion was in my mind, who was the first one drink her tea or his tea with sugar & Which country?
Calming and peaceful place! Nice for meditation
This establishment is incredibly peaceful and relaxed. They have a large variety of high quality Puer teas and a smaller selection of equally high quality green, Oolong, and herbals. Despite this being a teahouse, they serve up high quality snacks in the form of steamed buns, dumplings, rice balls, and the like but head in for tea and atmosphere, not a meal.
A hidden Santa Cruz gem. One of the coolest spots in town to hangout!
Amazing tea, perfect atmosphere. Love it here.
Nice hidden Chinese teahouse with great atmosphere. Seemed to specialize in oolong, but they had a few green tea options as well. There were a lot of books and board games to use while sitting in the teahouse.
They shared so much good tea knowledge, and good tea
I respect the owners uncompromising stance on how he wants his business to be. The space is digital-free, which means youre not allowed to have your phone or ipod out. Sadly, they also ban dedicated reading devices like Kindles. The house specializes in pu-erh tea, and has many varieties, as well as a few other options, and the staff will teach you how to use the traditional gung fu tea sets. Additionally, you can buy tea ware and bulk loose tea to take home.
Quiet relaxing place to enjoy a great cup of tea.
This is a place you must experience. Turn off your devices and bring friends. There is nothing but you, your friends, wonderful hosts and great tea.
Peaceful and such a good selection of tea
Best Pu er tea!
Hidden Peak has great teas and vegan snacks.
Cool place to unwind
Gung fu tea ceremony
Too beautiful for words.
Try new teas and relax (literally because it is a no stress and no technology zone) so nice to go and talk to my friends or sit and relax.
Quiet, welcoming place.
They sponsored the get out and paint art festival today.
One of my favorite spot in Santa Cruz
A very special place to sit and talk with friends
Very relaxing space
