I have gone to this butcher many times it has always been great. However, I asked my girlfriend if she could pick me up some pork belly for lettuce wraps. When she went to get the meat they were snarky to her and then gave her a bad piece of meat. Or should I say piece of fat. I know what pork belly looks like and it isn’t a solid piece of fat with a tiny sliver of meat on the bottom.

Really amazing little place! Its filled with all sorts of cured meats that they butchered. It has a lot of unique types of meats and flavors. The staff is very knowledgeable about the meats and happy to answer any questions. The meats are well priced and Very yummy! They also have some meat pies you can buy for a quick meal on the go.

High quality butcher shop with great product. I leave 3 stars because of the very limited stock they have (I called asking for more than 6-7 meat products and did not have any, lamb, duck, chicken livers, sausage and a couple more), and also because everything is already pre-packaged, so you cannot get the size you want or customize anything, which in my opinion is the reason I go to a butcher shop.

For years I avoided this place assuming it would be too expensive; so glad I decided to finally give it a try! As others have said, the meat quality is excellent and the prices are very reasonable. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and they also carry curing salts, house made ramen broth, noodles, spices, sauces, and so much more. Very glad to have this gem in the neighborhood and bummed I didn’t give it a chance sooner.

This is by far the best butcher I’ve ever been to. Their meats are incredible, their spices amazing, the service is friendly, these guys know their stuff. Every two weeks I travel from San Francisco to Santa Cruz to visit the kids and my granddaughter. I stop in here for lunch meats (then on to Companion Bakery 1 block away for fresh baked breads and scones), their beef jerky is to die for, filet mignon, skirt steak, bacon, everything is so good, I end up buying gifts for everyone. Oh yes, they are reasonably priced, too. I love Salchichero! ❤️

All the products are amazing, Ive not had anything I didnt like. You can find all sorts of fantastic flavors and cuts here. The staff can be a bit pretentious and if you arent up on your cuts of meat or meat terminology it can be a bit daunting. My own insecurities aside, Ill keep coming back because it tastes great. This week I had duck mousse sausage and I think I can honestly say that Ive never tasted anything like it - it was exquisite and I would get it again in a heartbeat, except for the fact this was the end of a batch and the butcher said it may never be available again. A travesty if you ask me! Im hoping he is wrong and it makes a comeback next duck season.

Amazing meats - the chicken sausages are a favorite. We enjoy getting steaks here, but we also should note that the ground beef they sell makes the best burgers ever!

II bought 3 things:Spanish Charizo - really goodGarlic chili sausage - far too spicyCoppa- Too salty, tasted rancid. Threw away. $11 in the trash.Ill likely take down this review. Hoping management will see this constructive criticism. Will try again.

The flat iron steak is life changing. I usually dont even like steak but Ill happily drop $30 on a big cut of it here.

We love this place! If you are going to eat meat Its nice to know where it comes from. The people who work here are fantastic and always give us incredible advice on how to cook certain cuts of meat. We are NEVER disappointed.

Super friendly staff! We decided to check them out after seeing their booth at the Santa Cruz Farmers market. We ended up getting beef sticks and bacon burgers, but Im sure we will be back for more products in the future.

Best butcher shop I have ever been to. The service is amazing, the atmosphere is homey, and the meat is world class. They have the best bacon I have ever had anywhere in the world. They once has Saffron Short Ribs which I still dream about a year later. Gotta love The Salch!!

This is not a review about the meat here.This is a review about crappy, snarky customer service.I called several days ago to reserve a prime rib roast for Christmas. I wanted something in the 3-4 pound range. The butcher who I was speaking with told me that a bone-in prime rib roast ran 1 - 1 1/2 pounds per bone. So, to be safe I ordered/reserved a 3 bone roast, and placed a $40 deposit.So, when I showed up today to pick-up the roast - it checked in at 5.8 pounds. I told the butcher at the counter that this was much larger than I expected and contrary to what I was told when I placed the order.I got several uninterested and unhelpful responses:Response 1: Three bones at 1.5 pounds per bone would be 4.5 pounds - so thats kind of close (to 5.8).Huh? In what math class? Thats like 29% more! And at $17.45 per pound - thats almost $23 more...Since this was much larger that I had expected, I asked if there was anything smaller or some other alternative - and I got Response 2:No. Nothing. This is your roast.Hey! Merry Christmas to you too, buddy!No apologies, no willingness to be helpful - just heres your roast - take it or leave it. And by the way, were going to keep your $40 deposit one way or the other.I know that these guys are very busy and popular - so customer service does not need to be a priority for them - but they should at least get the staff together and agree on how much a prime rib roast weighs per bone.

Delicious dry sausages, duck and duck confit, ... We have already tried quite a few different items and everything tastes super good. The staff is very nice.
