I had an amazing experience here. The young woman Leah(sp?) was very personable, knowledgeable, and even helped me with my questions about the town too. She referred to all the minerals by name, even ones that had multiple names in one stone. She knew fossils country by origin and wrote them down for me upon purchase. She even suggested where locals find fossils. Very cool. We discussed our similar passion and she was a total sweetheart. One of my favorite shops of all time. Such selection and amazing conversation. 10/10!

Incredible collection and a very knowledgeable store owner. He is great with kids who have a passion for gems and geology. This place has a huge collection of lose stones as well as jewelry and display crystals. All of you goblins out there that love shiny rocks should stop by.

Recently purchased a large piece of lapis lazuli from this store. I only worked with Leah. She was very patient, knowledgeable, and friendly. She didnt hesitate to show me any of their pieces. She was a joy to work with! Im not sure who the other reviews are referring to when other customers mention having a poor experience, but its definitely not Leah. I could have looked around for 3-4 hours in this store; their inventory is great! Ill likely be back again to see what else catches my eye.

Nice shop with good selection. But, WOW, the woman who said she managed the store is out of control and passive-aggressive. I was specifically looking for an Australian opal and inquired about quality of the various types. I could not believe how condescending she was. Perhaps I was not dressed properly (cap, sweats and backpack). But I did find some stones I liked and will buy them elsewhere. They lost a customer who was prepared to buy today.

An eclectic store with something that everyone will enjoy! I loved browsing the wonderful array of unique pieces of jewelry as well as the collection of minerals and fossils. I was looking for a store to trade in some estate jewelry and possibly purchase a piece. The staff was friendly, laid back, and very pleasant to work with. I ended up finding the perfect piece to take home with me that I will enjoy for many years to come! If you are looking for jewelry, gems, rocks/minerals, and other interesting gifts, Earthfire has a huge selection in a comfortable (not uptight, typical Santa Fe jewelry store) atmosphere. You wont regret visiting, browsing, and definitely buying from this Santa Fe gem.

STEER CLEAR! The female clerk was incredibly mean and it was definitely not because she was just having a bad day. When I sincerely apologized if I had offended her in some way, her reply was, Well you did. Worst customer service Ive experienced in a very long time. 😥

Terrible customer service! Extremely Rude Owner/Manager! My wife and I wanted to purchase around 1,000$ of jewelry while we were in town and we have never been treated so rude by anyone in this service industry. The lady is outrageously disrespectful and rude to customers. I highly recommend going down the street to Rainbow Man or another local Jeweler. This company does not care about the customers or the experience of buying valuable jewelry in Sante Fe. This buisness is a joke and puts a bad name and image on other local respectable dealers around her. Save your money and time and go to other local stores that treat people with dignity and would love to have your buisness. Earth fire Gems is a complete joke of a fine gem jewelry store.

Alright, so I went to the store looking for crystals, right? When I walk in a store an employee comes up to help me and was really nice, I bought some nice turquoise because she was so helpful. Then when my friend and I start browsing the rest of the store another worker (maybe manager or owner) starts to follow me around and won’t let me just look around without him following me. It seemed like he thought I was going to steal from the store. They have lots of nice stuff for sale and Ill go again but that kind of bugged me. Theyre a bit pricey as well but with a location so close to the Plaza thats to be expected.

The women working there was kind and inquisitive, which was appreciated. However, the male owner does the buying and was extremely disrespectful and rude. We stopped by on a whim to show the owners a few specimens we had picked up on our travels. He referred to our mineral specimens and gemstones as “worthless” and “ugly”. The owner went out of his way to be pompous and degrading. After treating us as such, my boyfriend mentioned he deals with high-end jewelry (diamonds and rare stones), and suddenly the owner took interest. We decided against taking his business card.

This place is so unpleasant I would recommend not even bothering to go in. Staff is run by father and daughter and both are very rude and degrading along with there staff, actually feels like a hostel & racists environment. Don’t bother go some where else. This place is a waist of time.

This is easily the most unprofessional and disrespectful store owner I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. As a supplier, and buyer, of high-end jewelry and rare diamonds (We have had several lots auctioned in Sothebys and various reputable houses) I encounter unpleasant individuals from time to time, but Tom Forrest has been the most unsavory.I had recently returned to LA from a business trip in Russia and Southern Africa where I had made acquired some high value stones and pieces (all GIA certified after my return), as well as some lesser value items. On my way to NYC to deliver some stones to a client, I made a stop in Santa Fe and, subsequently, this little store. I have little experience dealing with mineral specimens and I was looking to evaluate the worth of a few small items that I had no use for so, and they seemed like the type of establishment that dealt with items of this sort. So I inquired within. The lady that spoke with me initially, was quite nice and friendly. She informed me that Tom did all the purchasing and he would have a look at what I brought in. Tom began looking at the items I had brought in and told me that he usually prefers very large specimens and that smaller specimens do not sell quickly. I had no qualms with that information. He asked me how much I wanted for them, I reported that I did not know the value, so I am open to whatever would be deemed reasonable IF he were interested in them. He then, unprovoked, proceeded to smugly and derisively insult me and the stones I had presented. Describing them as ugly, terrible, and worthless. In my buying experience, if I am not interested in an item for sale, I kindly let the seller know that I am not interested. But, he asked me what I had paid for them, I told him basically nothing and he mockingly retorted and that is all you will get for them and laughed in my face. I stifled my urge to exchange foul words with him, as that is not the way I conduct business. In my silence, the man continued to berate and disparage me until I spoke up and told him that I typically deal with diamonds & rare stones, not mineral specimens. That peaked his interest and he asked me if I had any with me. I did, but at that point he had entirely discredited himself and I had no desire to do any type of business with him. On my way out he offered his business card, but I declined.I have a very thick skin, but I would NEVER refer Earthfire Gems Gallery to anyone after my experience. I suggest you steer clear and choose one of the other gem stores in town.

I asked the woman working the counter to see a couple stones. I didn’t buy any. When I left she screamed, “You’re WELCOME!!” so loud that my 70 year old father who was waiting outside the store came up to me and asked me what her problem was. Rude. Rude. Rude.
