Ive always taken my car to the dealer for an oil change and tires, but had a bad experience the last two times. The Pep boys team made sure it was an awesome experience!! They gave me a tire package, along with my oil change. They were very communicative, friendly, honest and professional!!! I found my new favorite place to take my car 💙

My newly acquired Crown Vic was desperately in need of a set of fresh tires. I called a couple of tire places but they all turn me down since it was getting quite late (5-6pm). This Pepboyz was my last hope and to my very pleasant surprise. Nick, the store manager was able to get me a precise quote on the phone quickly and is willing to get my Vic serviced by the end of the day. The service took less than hour time, and not only did Nick took me to see the tires first and got my consent before the job, we also chatted a bit while I waited for the tire work to be done. He was super friendly and awesome to talk to, and manage to get some store discounts in the end to lower my bill total! He even got out and help me have a look at my Vic and diagnose a belt issue and suggested fixes!This is definitely my go-to place next time I visit Santa Maria or passing by! I honestly told Nick I wish he was in the LA area, where I currently live. Also, fyi, their location is currently being partially renovated, I look forward seeing the store refreshed and updated. Cant wait to go back! :)

Always courteous and professional. You dont feel haggled or taken advantage of when you go in for service. The approach is very welcoming and non intimidating, especially for you out there that know very little about cars. Pricing is very reasonable

Online they close at 7pm but that is just the store or parts department. Service department is open. So technically they are open until 7. Ordered parts online and said I could pick up today before 7. This is not the case at all. A little upset at the fact I took of of work an hour early just to be told I cant get my part until tomorrow. If I would like an oil change they could help me. Probably not!!!

Kinda confusing.... buying a water pump and the picture outside the box wasnt anything like the actual pump inside the box. Looking at the picture it looked like the thermostat was to be installed onto the pump,, Then I asked about a thermostat and they were offering me one for $25Making this story short I didnt need the thermostat because the real pump didnt take it. I caught that and they didnt

I have been going here for years. Everyone in the service department has been great.

Took a old battery in that was not working and old. Was given the option of battery from good to premium. I asked for midrange. The associate ended op giving me the premium which I didn’t realize till rung up. I said ok, in that case I got a guarantee. Then as I was leaving my friend said did he give you a discount for the old battery. No he didn’t. Went back in and asked for my rebate of $19.58 cents. He attitude was poor as if he was being put out, like he had something better to do like message on his phone. He said very little, no good morning no nothing. The other times I’ve been at this store I was happy. Now, I’m not so sure.

Paid over $500.00 for brakes and rotors. A week later brakes were squeaking and so I took my car back to Pep Boy’s in Hanford who told me that my brakes and rotors had NEVER BEEN CHANGED!!! The Santa Maria Pep Boy’s ripped me off!!! Thankfully, the Hanford store was honest and showed me the before and after parts. Needless to say, I’ll never do business with Santa Maria Pep Boy’s again. Would have left zero stars if that were possible.

Bought a battery here and it failed in less than a year. Won’t charge in or out of the car, and won’t run other cars. I took it in to get a replacement under warranty, and they said it was fine and they wouldn’t replace it. Now I’m out over 200 for something that should have been replaced free of charge. Never trust this company or this location.

Had to take car to a trusted mechanic after issues were still present and they told me some parts were placed horribly wrong had to pay out of pocket because I needed it fixed that day and couldn’t wait for warranty adjustments from dealer.

This is my go to automotive store.The guys there are all so helpful, in the retail Department as well as in automotive services I always feel fairly and honestly treated. I would highly recommend this place with any car concerns.

This is my third visit to Pep Boys Auto. And I have to say that I have been nothing but pleased. All my mechanic needs have been done professionally, at the best price, and the most informed service. This is after being my own mechanic, and searching for decent ones in town over the years. I have been very disappointed with all the others so far. However, here was Pep Boys all along; also the mechanic who helped me most efficaciously was named Matthew M. He is polite, conscientious, knowledgeable and just very friendly and caring. I had four different needs, and he spared no expense to take care of all of them for the best deal with my safety as paramount. Not only that, but because it was evening, he graciously walked me to my car.Thank you Pep Boys, thank you Matthew!You are my go to!!

Ordered a few quarts of oil online for a good price and went to the store to pick them up. Cheaper online than they would have been in the store.

Not very accessible, you often have to make an appointment just to get a simple oil change. Everything is overpriced, the service isnt really faster than other. Many people love the place, I personally dont care for it. There are better places for cheaper that are more convenient

Had two non-repairable flats on a Sunday when I was out of town at Pismo Beach. I called numerous tire shops in the area and out of the few that were open, Pep Boys was the only shop that I could find that had my tire size in stock. I had the car towed to them and Thomas and the team had me back on my way home in an hour and a half. Thanks again!

Awful customer service, rude and tried to charge me 1000 for a battery and starter. there are many better options in santa maria, please save your time and money and go literally anywhere else

Had a great experience! People usually dread having work done on their car (I know I do!). My mini-van had some electrical and brake issues so I was expecting a HUGE bill. Turns out it was just a blown brake light and a disconnected hose. The team reconnected the hose, at no cost to me (it was actually left off by mistake by one of those express wash and lube places during an oil change). I just paid for the brake light/install. They even offered to take me on a test drive to make sure I was satisfied. GREAT service!I will be recommending my friends and family to this store. Im a pastor in our town so lots of people are always asking if I know a good mechanic. My answer now is yes! Go to Pep Boys! Honest and great service! They could have taken me for a run for my money but they didnt and didnt even charge for the hose reconnect that wasnt their fault to begin with! Now thats great service!

Good Fast Service

I had the most amazing experience at Pep Boys the other night. I got a nail in the side of my tire at 7:00 PM at night and called to see if they could help me. They asked their technician if he could stay late, as he was already working on another customers car. They told me to come on over and that they could accommodate me. I got two new tires and they were so nice as waited for my car to be finished. It is nice to know we have local businesses out there that care about their customers. I strongly recommend that we support local businesses that care! The management and his team in Santa Maria are top notch. A special thank you goes out to Kevin, the technician that stayed late to help me!!!

Really impressed--really fast and very nice. Nick was really kind and patient (despite me being vaguely hysterical about my car) and got my spark plugs changed out in only an hour or so, without appointment.Very appreciative. Thank you!

I live in Los Angeles county and was in Santa Maria during 4th of July weekend with family. Unfortunately my car was involved in an accident there on freeway and I had to tow my car to pep boys at Santa Maria . NICK was extremely helpful and tried everything he could to help me and my family . His help during the day my car got in his workshop and till two days after when it was drivable was one can not describe in words. I wish persons like him exist in all businesses and everywhere. Also Thomas and Brian were very helpful as well. Excellent staff at pep boys Santa Maria !

My check engine light came on, and there was some shaking coming from the engine. I figured the issue might be spark plug related. I called Pep Boys to get a quote for checking out the vehicle, and replacing the spark plugs, if that ended up being the root of the issue. The quote was $89.99 to check out the car, and $240 to replace the spark plugs. The representative said that I could bring the car in at 9 a.m. the following morning. The Pep Boys website lists a free check engine light code retrieval service, so I decided to swing by tonight to find out what the error codes were before I dropped it off in the morning. When I spoke to the person at the service counter, he informed me that the error codes could only be retrieved if I got an oil change, or the $89.99 diagnostic service. It would have been helpful if the Pep Boys website had explained that not all locations participate in the free check engine light code retrieval service. If that had been the case, I would have asked about it when I spoke with them on the phone earlier. I dont feel comfortable having my car worked on if they cant tell me what the error codes are beforehand, and give me an idea of what they will need to do in order to narrow down the likely cause. There is an AutoZone on the same street that will lend you a diagnostic tool in order to retrieve the error codes.

Couldnt get the part I needed

Never been in a Pep Boys before - I am a senior driver and needed headlight replacement. Nick Martinez met me asked which side was out - left for approx. 15 minutes and returned with both bulbs (high & low beam) on both sides done ! I will never be subjected to the long-wait - high-priced dealership ever again ! THANK YOU Nick more than words can say ! ! I will return soon for servicing !

Customer service could use improvement. 6 cashiers working, but 4 of them were busy with their smart phones. The other two were with customers. Typical auto parts store. My preference is O’Reilly’s auto parts. Pep Boys is last resort.

Santa Maria Pepboys service center is outstanding. I was having a issue with my vehicle when it would get over 35mph the alignment would jerk to the left.I had no idea what was going on and was having a hard time explaining it, Juliana was vary patient with me and didn’t make me feel dumb for not having the vocabulary to explain my issue.The technician Tony had put his life on the line by driving my vehicle that would throw you into oncoming traffic if you weren’t aware of what’s going to happen and was able to diagnose the problem and have it fixed, did an oil change, readjusted the alignment, and put two new tires on it all within a few hours.I expected to pay at lest $500 for all this but it ended up paying much much less.

They did great on turning my rotors but they took forever. And I live in AG so I had to go home and come back, witch is an hour round trip . Very inconvenient. But they did a hell of a job tho.

I have a conflict going to this store due to the arrogance of one of the employees that make it seems like he is doing me a favor by servicing my car. Before moving to SM I had no problems at all. If I have to rate the whole company, the rating will be four or five stars.

Tried to charge me 850$ to replace a rack and pinion system. Long story short it was a 100$ Replacement of a power steering pump that i finished in 2 hours. Rack and pinion never had an issue but these guys were itching to rip it out and replace it(which wouldnt have even solved the issue) stay far away

Had my civic serviced recently and no complaints.

Great service by manager even though I went in a hurry due to working that day and was not very nice and I was not very friendly the manager handled situation great and did a great job .

They get the job done but take forever, replacing 1 tire took over an hour and I almost drove off with the spare tire wench lock on the back bumper. If they could find a way to be a little faster they would be awesome.

I just posted the same review on Yelp as well:I normally despise Pep Boys and dont trust them. However, due to some bad timing this store was the only one open (on a christmas eve in 2011) when I got stuck in Santa Maria and the tow truck took my car there. I had to wait till the day after Christmas to get my car, but when there 2 days later, they told me there was nothing wrong with the car and didnt charge me for it.They could have lied and told me they replaced some part and I would have believed it but their honesty and not even charging me for having taken a look at it, really impressed me. I thanked them then and I thank them again for not taking advantage of me.
