I can not say enough about this place and the people.They are so much more than a staff, they are family. You know you are at home when you walk in and you are greeted by the dog(s), I have now been going here since 2015, but became a regular since 2019. I now go on dive trips out of the country with this shop and continue all my certifications with them as well. The trips are amazing!!! Very well organized from start to finish.I send many people here to have them taken care of with the best customer service. Whether you are a beginner or advanced there is someone here on staff that will fit your personality perfectly. A diverse staff with many years of experience and knowledge.They are second to none.

I needed new ankle straps for my fins. I knew Id find them here. A super helpful young person took me right to the stand with the straps. She tried to color coordinate but the black straps werent working....so I got the grey ones. Super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff here. They have everything one would need to be prepared for snorkeling or scuba. Ill be back.

Five stars all the way! I just completed my open water certification and the entire experience has been nothing short of amazing! My instructors, Carl and Leann were awesome, big thanks to both of them. I ended up purchasing all my gear from Florida Underwater Sports, the staff was so helpful and took the time to make sure everything fit correctly. I highly recommend this dive shop to anyone—whether you’re new and wanting to become a certified diver, or a pro on vacation looking to get some dives in, FUS has you covered. They’re a PADI dive shop, and they take safety seriously! If the seas are bad, then they’re not putting you in the water. They’re a trust but verify type of diveshop—they want to see your cert card, but will let you plan and execute your dive. Their shop has all the gear you need. They carry ScubaPro BCDs, reg, masks, and wetsuits. They carry a variety of brands for accessories. They have one of the only dive charters out of Sarasota, and it’s affordable. I’ll pay $100 for a 2 tank gulf charter (tanks and weights included) any day. Their staff have an expansive knowledge of the various dive sites, and their divemaster dive with you. You catch the boat at Philippi Marina, and you’re on your way. FUS will be the dive shop I dive with whenever I return to Sarasota.

This is a great location for training, equipment and helpful people. A diving professional friend of mine recommended them for my Open Water certification and I had a first-rate experience. Galen was a thorough and knowledgeable instructor who made the training fun and everyone I met was willing to share tips and experiences (thanks Stacy, Dale, and Heather!). Glad to have this group nearby and I hope to get more training soon.

My wife and I went to become scuba divers. It did not work out for us.....Yet. I am incredibly thankful to Greg and his staff who understood our fears helped us feel safe and more confident. They gave us time to work through our fears and concerns. This store and staff could not have treated us more like family. We are taking our time to get certified and when we do it will be because our first introduction scuba was that of love and friendship. Greg, Nikki and Staff - You are amazing.

This place is amazing!! I always wanted to become scuba certified and was fortunate enough to get Stacy and Galen as my instructors. They were beyond patient and kind with me as learning how to scuba can be a bit overwhelming. Very kind and generous people. Excellent dive shop! We came in from texas for some beach diving in July. Unfortunately, Hurricane Elsa ruined our beach dives, but they gave us alternative locations farther inland at Blue Grotto and Devils Den. They offered a great discount for the inconvenience (even when the weather is not their fault), were extremely helpful, excellent equipment, they even reimbursed us for having to rent 2 tanks because 2 tanks happened to be over on inspection (it happens). Highly recommend them any time youre near Sarasota!

Would have left zero stars, but had to put at least 1 star in order to leave a review. June 3rd, my hubby and I had a two-tank dive excursion booked with Florida Underwater sports leaving the dock at 8:00am. We were visiting from out of state and were excited to check out the Gulf scuba scene. This biz had good ratings and good reviews so we booked with them. Hubbs called three days prior to reaffirm our plan and was told everything was a go. We showed up at the dock on designated date and time. Nobody in sight. We found a dock manager who said he hadnt seen anyone from this biz show up at their boat in weeks. The boat wasnt even in the water. We waited a while and left messages on main answering machine, still hoping we might go diving. We are experienced divers who have traveled extensively. This was a first! Totally unprofessional.When we finally reached one of the owners, she said 1 captain on vacay and the other sick in hospital. Our advice is : dont book anything with this group.

I had the idea to get my two boys (10+12) scuba diving certified. Being a scuba diver myself for 40 years, I was fully aware that this was a bit of a challenge. I hooked up with Florida Underwater Spots in Sarasota.It was a pleasure to work with them and how easy it was to cover the admin side of all this. It became a joy ride and a pure adventure for my boys once their instructor Allison started to teach them. Allison was the secret weapon and the angel Florida Underwater Sports pulled out of their sleeve. I was around all the time and watched with how much loving care, patience, and expertise Allison took my boys in 4 days from zero to certified. Thanks a lot.

Florida Underwater Sports created a fun and supportive setting for learning about SCUBA and how to be a safe when diving. Their instructors are patient, and very knowledgeable. Not only in their subject field, but also how to teach a range of learning needs for SCUBA students. I am extremely impressed, and grateful for the experience I have had and the education I have received. I am definitely coming back for more!

I was very nervous to take scuba lessons but the instructor Carl was so patient with me. The people in the shop were also so compassionate and motivational.They also have a great selection of gear and all the staff is so knowledgeable.You will feel right at home as soon as you walk in the door. I went to several other dive shops first and got the best vibes here. I was right.

Had a great experience at the PADI Bubblemaker scuba class with my 8yo today. Ally was prepared, enthusiastic and patient and made the experience extra special with underwater photos and a certificate of completion. My son was comfortable and had a fantastic experience - he’s already asking when we can do it again. It was an ideal first experience!! Highly recommend.

New to Florida and wanted to get my PADI Enriched Air certification and begin the process of renewing my Divemaster rating and becoming an Instructor. Learned to scuba dive here recently and it was the best experience I’ve ever had in terms of learning a new sport! I had Carl as my instructor and he was extremely helpful ever step of the way. Every time I got anxious or nervous he slowed the process down and am so grateful to have had him as my instructor. Carl was so meticulous with the certification that I feel like I will be prepared for any situation that comes my way! I recommend this place 100% and would not go anywhere else to get your certification in Sarasota.

My wife and I took a family vacation to Sarasota and was looking forward to getting some diving in. I booked 2 charters over 2 days Monday and Wednesday, one day would have been both of us going and the other would be just me.We packed up all of our gear and went came down.Monday morning right as were about to walk out the door our Monday charter was cancelled Broken forklift. Then a few hours later the Wednesday charter is cancelled due to Captain quitTo me seems quite unprofessional not having backups in place to keep from losing money and to allow people to enjoy their vacations. When I called for a refund they were not friendly at all quite rude.

I think it is a business of super heroes or rather of immortals, Normally in times of a pandemic one should wear face masks, if you are vaccinated and do not want to use it, do not belittle those who want to take care of themselves a little extra, they lost a sale for being rude, a small business should always welcome its customers and apologize if its busy, but I felt like a fly in and out

What a great staff and dive shop!!! I came to Tim and Greg to continue my diving career and enrolled in the Instructor Development Course. Tim did an outstanding job teaching, leading, and imparting his professionalism into the class. He worked with us tirelessly to prepare us for our Instructor Evaluation, answering texts and calls at any time. Absolutely A go to shop if youre new or experienced. A welcoming as well as a outgoing staff., I had the pleasure of dealing with Bo On the phone as I called a couple times Looking for something specific and was checking to see if they got it in she was always cheerful and very helpful on the phone. As I came into the store for the 1st time I was greeted by Lindsey who is knowledgeable & excellent at explaining the differences in what I was looking for. I never once felt uncomfortable for being a newbie or because I didnt certify with them, as i have felt at other dive shops. Huge selection of items as well, If youre looking for anything diving related these guys have got it.

Received my PADI Open Water Certification from here, and the whole process was seamless. The staff is very knowledgeable and seem to enjoy helping/educating those who walk in. Taylor is a great instructor, is very personable, and made the “class” very enjoyable. Congratulations on successfully getting me addicted to scuba diving. I’ll be getting my Advanced cert. in the next few weeks, and hopefully setting up a dive at Venice shortly too.

I have been certified for many years and only made sporadic dives with rental gear. I recently was able to purchase my own gear. Based on an internet search I came across this shop. Upon arrival I was welcomed and provided with great information about gear. Based on excellent customer service I made a purchase of gear and classes. Dont waste your time with other shops, only shop at Florida Underwater Sports, you will not be disappointed.

Florida underwater sports maintains a generous sales discount for their students aquiring new equipment, and provided an impeccable top notch instruction led by their staff instructor Allison Vilardi. From start to finish she made everyone in the class educated, confident, and enthralled with the underwater world despite the limited visibility we encountered in the open water dives we did. She Introduced us to artificial reefs and local intercoastal dive spots that were excellent filming events for me. I could not reccomend any one higher than Allison to professionally train you, and make you SCUBA certified with alot of fun mixed in with the instruction. Florida underwater sports provides an excellent experience that I highly recommend to anyone seeking SCUBA certification. Ask for Ally as your instructor 🤙🤙.

Even tho at the time of this post Im only half way through my diver certification so far its been a great experience and the staff have been really friendly and helpful with everything from gear fitting to actually being in the water and I cant wait till I finish the certification

They are exceptionally knowledgeable, very informative when I am purchasing new equipment, and even helped me to explore a more inexpensive way to fill my equipment dive needs. When on a guided shore dive with Jake. He was knowledgeable about the dive location. We did a shark tooth dive. The vis was bad but it was nice to get out diving. Everyone at the shop was very friendly and helpful.

Took my Padi open water certification classes here doing the online courses with a 4 day in person training with dives.Allison was a great instructor taught me a ton, full of experience and can answer anything thrown at her. Can’t wait to continue advanced and additional trainings.The shop is also very nice large selection of products.

There is a reason why a long waiting list exists for every trip FUS plans. Everybody wants to go on the next trip. You will be hooked after joining in on just one trip. Everything is always taken care of so you have nothing to do but enjoy, enjoy, enjoy...

The staff at the shop is incredible and extremely knowledgeable. The instructors will have you feeling extremely comfortable during the entire class. Greg was fantastic! My husband & I were looking for snorkels to take with us on a cruise. Greg took time to understand ours needs and issues. (I have difficulty putting my face in the water). LIED TO! I called two weeks ago about scheduling and paying for a discovery dive for my girlfriend. The staff member specifically instructed me to schedule the day before we wanted to go on the dive (I knew that sounded weird). Despite my better judgment, I called the day before to schedule. The staff member sounded dumbfounded. The answer I received was I dont know who would have told you that? We are booked for the next ten days. Sorry, cant do anything for you. It was upsetting. My girlfriend wasnt able to go on her first dive, and it looked like my fault. In all, Im not upset that the dive center instructed me incorrectly about when to call and schedule, I understand that miscommunication can happen. What bothers me is the way that the staff member handled my problem. He acted like I was the one who was wrong because I called the day before and he completely dismissed any attempt to accommodate my girlfriend. He had absolutely no concern about the mistake that the companys employee made. This says something when you are trusting your life on a dive with these staff members; perhaps they have little concern when it comes to there job. One last note: just for the two of us to dive, I was going to pay $480 dollars. Thats two 1/2 hour dives, but still no concern about accommodations.

The owner of the shop took easily 2 hours+ to explain all the different pros and cons of dive equipment to me and had me totally dialed in, couldnt be happier. They carry the best gear and are very knowledgeable and friendly. Great shop!

I did my Instructor Development Course here at Florida Underwater Sports and it was easily one of the best experiences in my diver education. Tim and Greg are wonderful course directors who aim to create the best instructors they can, rather than just striving for a high IE pass rate. I learned so much about diving, control, safety, and education in general. The shop became my home for 10 days and it provided a clean, safe, and professional environment for me to continue to develop my professional career as a diver. I would recommend FUSE3 to anyone!

Nice small shop friendly service

I went there today looking for some small items and the guys were nice polite and patient. the store is very clean and has a great inventory.

I learned to dive in the Northeast where we live, progressing from Open Water to Advanced Open water in short order. I didn’t quite realize quite how thin my learning had been until I did a refresher with Florida Underwater Sports. I found much to my astonishment just how much of a better diver I could be given the attention the FUS staff offered to me and the professionalism they command. From that time on I have done nearly all my certifications with Florida Underwater Sports with my wife recently getting her C-card with them as well. We now also have accompanied FUS on two different travel excursions, coming from New York to Join them on what have been outstanding dive vacations. FUS live and breathe scuba and their degree of professionalism is unparalleled; from cave diving, trimix, rebreathers to plain old recreational scuba they always do their utmost to satisfy. I could not recommend them more.

Despite having other dive shops more conveniently located to where I live, I have been using the services of Florida Underwater Sports for the past 15 months. These include certification courses (including the PADI Master Diver), purchase of equipment, social events, and participation in over 50 dives. Thru them I have experienced many fantastic dives, ranging from diving the 6 million gallon aquarium at Epcot, to Sarasota night-time reef dives, Rainbow River Drift Dives, Venice Fossil Shark Tooth Dives, amongst many others. I look to Greg, Tim, Bo, Chris, and Jason for advice, as well as being trusted and experienced dive buddies. There are many others affiliated with the shop who I am just beginning to get to know, and they have all become like family to me. I have never had a negative experience with any of them (well except for the repeated cancellation of the Lemon Shark Aggregation Dives due to weather, haha), and they have been most helpful in my ongoing quest to collect and own every new Scuba-related toy that hits the market, haha. I thank all of you guys for re-introducing me to a phenomenal hobby that even an old man can enjoy!
