Good prices. Moon cake available. Strong water chestnut selection. Short lines. Recommended.
To be honest I didn’t expect that much at this grocery but there is a wide variety of asian food/things that you can buy here! The grocery is huge! the interior is old and everytime I go here I felt depressed lol! Because of the lighting and the mood of the store but there is a lot of good stuffs here!Things and food that I love are: Wide variety of Filipino foods! They have ice cream, breads, warm foods! Snacks are a lot too! I can find some of the food here that are not in a typical asian store like Hmart or groceries in Queens! Will I buy here? Yes af course! It is kinda far if you live in the city, you need a car. There is a parking on the front so it is not a problem. Good varieties of food!!
Typical Asian General Store with little bit of everything. You can find a wide variety of food supplies from China, the Philippines, India, Malaysia and Indonesia. From Dim Sum to preserved vegetables. There are even a fresh vegetable section, fish and meat market within. The store is now under new ownership with brighter lighting, cleaner store and fine turning with what customer wanted. A great start in the right direction. Waiting for more updates with additional star(s) to come. Keep it up.
I loved it had great Asian items me and my family couldnt find any other place and it was close to home overall great place 😊
Come here if you want culture. This place is as authentic as it gets around here. They have many Chinese foods (and even some fresh dishes that are shipped from Flushing) that you won’t find at Hmart. I support this business because I will not tolerate the gentrification of Asian supermarkets by Hmart and those who do not know where the good Chinese stuff is. Sure, Hmart has nice produce, but Golden Village is THE OG Chinese market. While it does not have the most modern or updated interior design, this place has an amazing selection of Chinese food, snacks, drinks, candy, and more.
Everything you need from Asia. The place has no decoration and is just a simple hall with raws of products. You will find a large selection of rice with glutinuous, jasmine, basmati, or japanese style. There is a decent selection of asian beers too.Fresh vegetables are ok but not great. What is great is the choice of sauce which is really large.Sometimes they change the order of the display and you need to look harder to find your usual product.
The new name for this store is Top Asia Mart - ownership of the store has transferred to new hands, and the owners are very responsive, organized, and helpful. I would definitely recommend taking a look at the new Top Asia Mart.
The aisles are small though even there there is a variety of Asian snacks you can choose from.
Friendly staff and a fairly wide selection of asian foods, packaged and fresh. Not as extensive as the mega H-Mart which opened a couple of miles away, but much more of a low-stress, local atmosphere. I always go here first...
New owners have taken over from last new owners, and much more upbeat. They have a lot more dim sum on weekend than before, as well as cooked food like roast pork, roast duck, roast chicken, and roast pig.
This is the type of authentic chinese supermarket that Im use to. Its dark and somewhat unkept, but youll always find the sauces and dried ingredients you need for your dishes. It is also less crowded than H-mart and has fresh bakery items as well.
Great selection.....great prices.
Good place to buy Asian ingredients and stuff, quiet, reasonable price, respectful and friendly staff.
Update on my previous review : the place changed owners and it is amazing the difference. The store is clean carries a lot of product from Taiwan, the Philippines and other Asian countries. The owners are super nice and always there to help you. On weekends they bring dim sum from NYC and congee from Big Wong from NYC ( my favorite). The dim sum usually arrives at around 10:30 am. Come early as selection is limited and it tends to sell out fast.
Has mostly shelf goods, spices, sauces, vegetable section, seafood, frozen, and meat dept.Dim sum is usually available on weekend mornings for purchase. They will accept advance orders for the weekend to assist the consumer.Plan ahead for dim sum orders . . .
Best place to buy fresh products, tea, southeast asian snacks, beverages, frozen dumplings, and asian pastries
Wonderful to find this gem stranded in Rockland county. As I do love Korean markets, being Chinese, I was missing the food of my people. This place had all the staples and to-go items (dim-sum, wonton mein, roasted meats, congee) fresh on the weekends. I also found fresh rice noodles, vegetables and some good snacks! In addition, the staff is lovely. It could definitely use some good design to reflect its products and service. Warm lighting (not blinding bright), creative item signs, laminate wood flooring, ambient music can help with a modern feel. Or something simple like a Trader Joes look.
Its good. They have vegetarian meat substitutes and thats why I come here often.
The ghetto Chinese supermarket of the neighborhood. (Compared to H Mart, anyway.) Dim sum on the weekends, but wish they had everyday. Good size, good selection. Fresh fish and meat in the back.
Huge selection of reasonably priced items and a very friendly staff !! :)
Love the food products
This place is great. I came with a long list of Sichuan ingredients, not expecting to find half of them, then got almost everything and came out with three heavy bags full. The selection is as good as some places in Queens, and especially good for the size of the store.
Great selection and cheap prices! Better than h-mart down the street! Have been looking for sticky rice for forever and finally found it here. Will definitely he back, thanks again!!
Great Asian Supermarket. Lots of options and they have lots of vegan meats as well!
Do you want Chinese specialty items? This is the place to go.Bakery items are first, and unfortunately many items wer sold out by the time we arrived. These were not Chinatown prices, but, we were nowhere near Chinatown! The variety of teas is tremendous and they come in tins or in tea bags. Yes if you need medicinal teas, they are here also. The variety of dried products goes on for two aisles. There are mushrooms, noodles, fish, ramen of all variety and spices both dry and bottled. There is a live butcher in the back for meat and fish. Frozen products galore. Have a sweet tooth? Your sugar fix will be satisfied. And then there was the fresh produce aisle: Chinese cabbage and lettuce, bok choy. You need, it was there.Staff is bilingual and friendly. Why only four starsStore is not dirty but it is a little dingy. It could use some sprucing up!
Their dim sum is great, and their pork buns too!! Such a nice little supermarket.
I found was looking for and so much more, will be going back
I come here to buy ethnic food from my country. Though H-Mart is a competitor blocks north, they still offer uniquely Chinese/Asian merchandise/products. Plenty of parking as well. And their is a Chinese bakery beside it, where you can get food and coffee.
This is a true grocery store for the Filipinos, the Thai, the Vietnamese, the Chinese, the Indian, the Japanese, and the Malaysian Food lovers. It is very diversified for all sorts of Asian foods. There is no other place that focuses on all kinds of Asian foods like this store. The store looks very clean and organized,. Goods are new and fresh throughout the entire store. It also has a very warm, nice atmosphere. I felt very much appreciated and am looking forward to go back soon.
Very pleasant, crispness and quality of the foods, staff and availability of items! They bring fun and I appreciate what they offer.
Ownership changed over since a year or two ago and we noticed a few points of lesser quality from the previous ownership, mostly lesser variety. Still, there is a wide variety of Chinese food items as well as those from other Asian countries at reasonable prices. In the freezer, for example, was a cross-section of a large fish wrapped in plastic which was heavily crusted in testament to its age. I took a peek at the label (today is Feb. 15) and the packaged date went back in November 2018 and there was NO sell by date. The packaged date was actually partially obscured with BLACK magic marker!
I dont feel like I have a product like the one here. The shelf is empty. The shop was dark and the atmosphere was not good.I did not feel the vigor and brightness of a ○○mart.
What happened to this place? It used to be a wonderful place to come for Oriental groceries. We have not been there for nearly a year. On our last visit a few days ago we discovered that the shop smells rancid and the grocery options are decidedly subpar. What a shame!
Good service and accommodating.
Used to be good. The new management cleaned up the place a little which is nice, but a lot of items are now missing. Also its sometimes so quiet there that the atmosphere is depressing. Added that the new staff are mostly silent as well its no longer the most welcoming place I remember. The old management was more friendly & gave life to the place. Now I only go there if I desperately need Asian products/ingredients that I cant get anywhere else.
Liked it better before it was sold. Hard to find items. A lot were discontinued. Sad.
Nice dim sum !
Don’t click on the website! Unless you like to get bombarded by numerous pop ups and install suspicious apps.
Ive been here many many times - dragged by mother when I was young and now I drag my kids! They have a good selection of primarily Chinese ingredients but there are also other Asian food products such as Japanese ramen, curries, and others. The store is a little disorganized so for your first few trips budget a bit of extra time to browse and find what youre looking for.
I can find what I need in this supermarket. Been a loyal customer evwr since the previous owners.
Good selection and friendly staff.
Great place to go if youre looking for Asian goods and supplies. Offers lots of variety that cannot be found at your typical supermarket. Prices are very good too.
Better when the other owners were here. Cant find things that were unique to this place. Asked and was told they arent stocking a lot of old favorites. Time to head to HMart up north a few blocks...They seem to have them and ALOT more.
Edit- under new managementClassic Chinese grocery. Has lots of specialty stuff, lots of Filipino ingredients. The fish and meat guys in the back are the best, extremely helpful. The Bubble Shop makes great hopias, moon cakes and roll cakes, also decent bubble teas and super cheap Chinese lunch specials.
This review is based on the personal interaction with the cashier who treated me with disrespect and poor customer service.I have had my Caucasian husband picking up groceries from FreshGogo since it switched its drop-off location to Golden Village. There must have been at least four separate occasions but there was never a problem. This time when I went to pick up, I had carelessly left one out of the two parcels behind due to rushing into the Golden Village to get my shopping done. I took home my grocery from Golden Village and one parcel from FreshGogo, but I overlooked that there were two parcels delivered. Since Tuesday, FreshGogo had repeated sending me texts and voice mails to pick it up, so I went on Wednesday afterwork but it was closed at 8pm.I went again on Thursday during my lunch break to retrieve my forgotten parcel. At first the cashier pretended she didnt understand my question despite my attempt to communicate in English AND Mandarin Chinese. Once I explained to her, the cashier proceeded to yelled at me in front of a long waiting customer about not having signed in when picking up the parcel and pretended she didnt know what I was asking about. This is the cashier whom SOLD ME GROCERY ON TUESDAY WHEN I PICKED UP THE PARCEL, as I have seen her working there numerous time, nice and friendly as she could be.After trying to clarify my request to pick up the forgotten parcel, she told me she HAD MANY CUSTOMERS WAITING IN LINE TO TAKE CARE OF and asked me to step aside and wait. I thought it was odd that neither FreshGogo nor my caucasian husband had told me about this extra step, so I called my husband to follow up while being put on hold aside the check out, waiting to retrieve my parcel, in front of a long line of waiting customers. As I was conversing with my husband, I learned that of all the time he picked up the parcels, he had never been yelled at by anyone at Golden Village about having to go into the supermarket and sign off the parcels. At this point, it was clear to me that no one had toldl my white-skinned caucasian husband about the sign off. However, the cashier felt she has the right to raise her voice and made a scene about a yellow-skinned female customers careless mistake due to not having been told about the proper pick up procedure. This realization was unsettling and I felt disappointed by the fact that the Asian cashier could not treat me, her fellow Asian customer with the respect and dignity I deserve.Racism, sexism or not, I doubt this cashier ever raised her voice to publicly humiliate a caucasian customer in front of other customers. As much as I like to support my Asian community and patronize the grocery store, this experience was traumatizing and I will not be showing my face nor recommend it to anyone.
After the revampment it seems the place has been a lot cleaner and the staff more friendly and willing to help. They were very welcoming and enthusiastic towards me and the other customers that went in.
Staff was very nice and helped me find exactly what I was looking for. I will definitely be going back.
Surprise, surprise, havent been here just for a while, the store became brighter, cleaner and spacier. More surprisingly found is beer I love sold here, Sapporo, Tsingtao, Ashahi. Even more surprise is the promotion coupon offered here, which has never been for over twenty years. It is a truly amazing surprising experience for me. Ill be back again for sure.
You have to hold your breath because this place smells fishy. Most of the items sold are not in English so I have no idea what they are. The people that work here seem very nice although some of them do not speak English.
Wonderful selection of vegetables and spices
Ive been shopping at this supermarket over 25 years, I feel like going to my 2nd pantry at home
Good selection, good prices, nice owners
As good if not better than Hmart
Variety of Asian vegetables and food products with a helpful and friendly staff. Nice spot.
Good social distancing
This place is a treasure island if you are looking for Chinese sweets and traditional munchies. You can find all kinds of Chinese munchies and sweets from mainland China and Taiwan. There are other East Asian or South East Asian foods too. I even found a kind of candy called Da Bai Tu there. I grew up in Northern Mainland China, we would only get this kind of candy on Chinese New Years back in the day and they are bringing back happy memories. Now I can share them with my children.. There are so many kinds of egg rolls, sticky rice sweets, traditional many flavored beans, steamed buns, wantons, Zongzis, you name it. If you have an afternoon, just browse slowly, its so fun and you will find treasures. The price is reasonable, they just need to keep up putting price tags on their products though.
They have all of the triditonal asian foods, and snacks thats alviable in NYC chinatown. If I was looking for something special, they will get it for me.
This is our go-to place for all asian foids, spices and fresh vegetables and meat.
Good selection, good prices
Always go here great service
I Love the variety of items and everyone is always very polite.
Ask for a receipt and check your change.
IF YOU WANT REAL ASIAN FROM CHINA THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO TO.
Nice supermarket. You can find most common stuff.
Very friendly staff, a lot more Philippine items. I am going to tell all my friends to come. Glad to see coupons and Weekly Specials.
Great selection of Asian food products. Store employees very friendly!
Basic out dated place. A bit cluttery.
Have alittle of everything in asian goods
Great PLACE and everyone is very nice
Very nice and helpful people
Existing before H-Mart of Hartsdale opened, it was my go to store for Asian groceries. If H-Mart didn’t have what you’re looking for, they may have it and it’s sometimes cheaper.
Nice place for Asian staples
Nice store many asian specialties
New Management but still same Asian food selection.
New management good services .nice people
Great service
Pretty good prices, a little unkempt.
Nice little Asian market nowhere near as crowded as H Mart!
(Surprisingly) has a lot of Filipino products
Convenient store with helpful staff
Asian supermarket where you can find Filipino items
Lots of Filipino good, yummy
I go to this rundown place only for emergency shopping.
The new management brought freshness
I found everything I needed for a special dinner
Nice..Jordan.Jozeph
This place went downhill
Great food
Service is very nice
Vietnamese and Thai ingredients available.
Smells nasty
Used to be better
No clean
Like in Asia
It smelled
Its a Chinese market, and there are foods that suit the tastes of Koreans, and the new management is working hard with motivation and kindness.
