Very unfortunate that the employees and manager dont put more effort into their jobs. I ordered a hitch for my car 2 months ago. When I showed up for my appointment there was a 30 minute line. The front desk employee stated that the hitch installer had not arrived yet and then I found out the hitch was not in stock at all. They rescheduled my appointment for 2 weeks later. I asked them to MAKE SURE they call me if the hitch did not arrive. The manager assured me that he would call if it was not there. I showed up for my appointment, waited in line, and the hitch had not arrived for the second appointment either. I told the manager that I drove to the location twice (45min each way) without them giving me notice that the hitch had not arrived, he did not seem to care. He said sorry about that and moved onto the next customer.

I waited there 30 mins and no one showed up. There was probably 15 other customers waiting there as well. This entire experience was absolutely trash. Between promising me a 15 in Allentown then switching it to 50 miles away the day before for only a 10 which made my move hell thanks for that, your mobile check in is absurd, and now having me wait 30 minutes at the drop off site because no one showed up for work and an additional 20 mins in your corporate phone queue. To still talk to no one... I will never use uhaul again.

The service was pretty good when I had gotten there. They gave me a Ford truck even though I wanted Chevrolet truck but it had damage to it upon going outside. I would recommend this place to anybody that needs to move things!

Reserved a car hauler online at 11pm, picked up the next morning at 10am without any issues. The staff was helpful and walked me through everything I needed to know about the trailer. I backed up my truck and they hooked it up and sent me on my way. I couldnt be happier with their service.

All in all a decent U-Haul place I have not returned the trailer yet but I have done business with them in the past and they have rented me a 26-footer and even a van. Its pretty standard service is not above & beyond or anything like that however it gets the job done

Just completed a 1-day move using one of their 15 trucks. The rental process was simple and efficient from start to finish. I was a little cautious based on the past reviews, but I didnt need to be. I reserved the truck in person - took 3 minutes. Pickup the next day was easy - truck was ready for me. Truck was also clean and in good condition with a full tank. I appreciated the salesman going over all the important aspects of the estimate with me so i clearly understood the rental agreement and what was expected. Based on my estimated mileage, they gave me a price estimate for what I would be charged when I returned the truck. When you are done, simply park the truck under the green canopy, they come out and check mileage and gas level, and then give you a paper receipt or just email the receipt to you. Takes all about 2 minutes if they arent busy. They also have everything you need to clean the truck (spray cleaner, broom, etc.) after use so you arent charged. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised at how straight-forward and easy the rental was, so much so I decided to come back and leave a review.

GREAT STAFF!!!! Everyone in the building jumped to help us as soon as we walked into the door. They had a great selection of items to help you move -- we purchased a heavy duty mattress cover that fit a king size bed. The product was exactly what we needed and we didnt find it any place else. Price for what we sought was good.

Great service. Truck was ready and clean at specified time. Manager was friendly. He reviewed the terms and conditions of renting. I have used U-Hauls multiple times, so it wasnt a necessity for me, but it would have been nice for the staff to physically inspect and show the truck to customers if they were new to driving the trucks.

Had to rent a Uhaul for a move. We reserved a truck online. We went in gave our numbers and off we went. The next day we returned the truck and rented a smaller one. They simply added the second truck to the reservation and again we drive off. Staff was great and very helpful. They have many sizes of trucks to choose from.

Dont rely on the move estimates on the website. Go least one size bigger on the truck. Also a warning THE MOVERS LISTED HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH UHAUL. Again using the estimator they said 3 hours two people. It took 6. They must have packed and unpacked the truck a dozen times. Both of the guys cell phones rang nonstop. Most importantly, THEY ARE ONLY HELP NO EQUIPMENT WAS BROUGHT. Luckily I had a cart or theyd still be moving.

In early January I was needing to move out of my apartment & needed to rent a truck for all of the furniture & the biggest boxes of stuff & was very (VERY) limited on the funds I had available. So I did some checking around into what place would be the best price for what I was needing to do, & on what day of the week I needed it for- on a Sunday. A friend recommended this place that would be the best & cheapest for moving. I called & inquired about their rates & how much it I went there on a Sunday morning along with my boyfriend & his dad to go rent a truck to move my stuff. I want to make clear that I was told about what the fees would be for not bringing the truck back with enough gas, over milage, etc. Being that it was a Sunday the store closed earlier than the rest of the week, so the time that I returned the truck was after closing. We stopped at the gas station closest to there & put gas in the truck, went over actually. then we proceeded straight to the store to drop off the truck how I had been instructed to do. The next morning I was checking my email & noticed an email from them as my receipt for returning the truck, however what the email said was the total charged for renting the truck was different than what I had & was given before I even left with the truck. Instead what I saw was what Id budgeted beforehand & paid for, but an extra $70.00+!!! The email receipt said that Id returned the truck without refueling it, AND an extra 5 more miles!! WTH?! It over drafted my bank account & caused me overdraft fees too!!

This location used to be five stars, but the service has dropped off terribly. Still a convenient location with a good return system. Just too many errors. Current staff is grossly inept. They also tried to charge me a cleaning cost because there was one leaf in the truck. Was never like this. I used to love this place but not anymore.

They screwed me out of $59.60. I did an after hours drop off of my truck as agreed and filled up the gas tank to the truck to the level of 1/4 of a tank. I received the truck with 1/4 of a tank in it so this is how much I was supposed to fill it up to, which I did.The next day however, I found there to be an additional charge of 59.60 on my credit card. They NOT only charged me for the 1/4 tank that I had already put in before I returned the truck, but they also charged me to fill up the ENTIRE tank!These people are total crooks! I then used the U-Haul complaint process and I was told by the representative that the store manager would contact me within 2 days. It has now been 5 days and I have not been contacted. I can only attribute the lack of them contacting me, to them running a scam and trying to steal money from me.I would never recommend using this company. They fraudulently charge your credit card. I just hope that they havent stolen my credit card number and used it to fraudulently charge other things or plan to.I would not recommend this store to anyone. I have contacted the BBB and I hope they can help me recover my lost funds! NEVER USE THIS STORE EVER.

They played me. Upon my call they said Id ONLY pay $35-$40. Then when i got there it came up to $47+$100 deposit. They promised Id get my deposit the next day upon returning the cargo van & only gave back $16 smfh. Mind you.. Im a single mother trying to make it. Only went to pick up a 2 seater couch & they are charging me all these extra fees for nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!! Scammers and Liars. Do not rent from here.

PROTRACTED customer service and employee errors occur that are time-consuming to correct. Rented and returned an appliance dolly within a 24-hour period in June 2018. Upon returning dolly, I pointed it out to clerk and pointedly asked--twice--if he posted it in the computer as returned and was told yes, twice. One week later, I noticed a $63.18 charge pending on my account used to rent dolly. I called U-Haul number on my receipt and was NOT able to reach location I did business with. I was transferred to out-of-state customer service who again transferred me to a differing customer service department. I was on hold over 20 minutes. Rep I finally spoke with said my complaint would be referred to a manager who would call me back within 3 business days and that the charge would likely then be reversed. Four days later, no call so, again, called customer service and went through exact same delayed process to get assistance. I requested first rep who answered my call to give me number of location I did business with so I could speak with a manager and was told okay and, after 25-minute hold, found I was transferred to another customer service department--like first time I called them. Was told the credit was requested one business day ago, that it would appear on my statement in another 4-5 business days, and a rote apology that I was unhappy with delays and improper processing of my transactions. All this just because clerk didnt record the return of my rental timely. I had read reviews similar to this and thought they were the exception vs the norm. Now I know otherwise. I will not use U-Haul again unless I hear they overhaul their operations.

Truck had issues, didnt want to move up hills at all, burned half a tank of gas for less than 30 miles. Returned to location, explained this to manager who said it was rented 6 times in the last week with no other complains. Regardless of previous rentals there was an issue when I rented it and during the inspection of the truck when I returned it, I WATCHED the person who goes through to make sure everything is okay, rip the green pin for the dolly off as if I had used it (which I didnt). I wonder how many other people have been ripped off the same way they attempted to do to me?! The manager, short haired lady has a terrible attitude and the customer service is horrendous in that store. Go elsewhere, you will be glad you did. Google needs to offer 0 stars because 1 star is too generous!

Absolute mess. Made a reservation over the phone for a pick up truck and a Ubox. Arrived at the Schenectady location to find they dont have any Uboxes. They were able to get me a reservation for one in Albany. Rented the pick up from Schenectady and drove to Albany to pick up the Ubox. Delivered the box to my home and returned the truck in under 4 hours. My card was charged for over 400 miles of driving, told by customer service there was nothing they could do. Still dealing with this headaches of over charges.

HORRIBLE SERVICE. GO TO THE CENTRAL AVE INSTEAD!First of all the Manager was late to open the store with a line of people and his employee waiting outside. We waited in line for about 30min and overheard him being uninterested in any of the concerns of the customer in front of me. He told the woman if there isnt a spot in the front, i dont know what to tell you (Good job manager)We got to the front of the line and went through the process to pick up our reservation(about 10min). He went to the back, then came back and said you have to go to our other location. We dont have anything here for you.Why do you not have our reservation when we reserved it at your location at a specific time, then made us wait and go through the process! There was no apology from him, only i dont have anything for you, you have to drive 20min further. that set our schedule back over an hour.When we went to another location, they knew exactly who we were referring to and called him out by name. Thats a good way to ruin a business. Save yourself the trouble and go to a location that would actually provide the advertised service.

I’ve literally never written a review on a company, but this location was filled with people so frustratingly incompetent, that I feel as though I have to warn everyone to stay away from this place.So on May 3rd I go online and order a trailer hitch+installation in advance for may 20th (trying to get a hitch installed before Memorial Day). The uhaul website completes my order and tells me I’m all set for install on Sunday the 20th.Monday May 7th, I’m told there’s a family event on the 20th so I call uhaul to reschedule to the 21st... this is where things go sideways.I call the Schenectady location (where I’m scheduled to have the hitch installed) and im greeted by Re’quan (spelling may be wrong, but his name sounds like that). I inform him I need to change my install date to which he replies: “ummmmm, how did you even order that? Oh man you ordered it online, damn. Ummmmm, our trailer hitch bay is down and we don’t know when it’ll be back up. How about I call you back next Monday, that way if it’s still down I can just transfer your order to the colonie place and they can probably do it” Seemed simple enough so I told him sure.Next Monday comes (the 14th)... no call from Re’quan. So Tuesday (the 15th) I call to ask about my order, and I’m told by a nice lady on the phone that I’m all set for the 21st at 9am. Cool.I get a call on the 18th from Re’quan (Who at this point I suspect is the source of all my problems). I was asleep (I work night shift) so I didn’t answer, but woke up to a voicemail from Re’quan saying “I see you made an appointment for the 20th (wrong date), when you made the reservation the parts were never ordered. I was trying to give you a call because my hitch bay just got up and running so I will be able to get you in for an appointment next week. Ill try to give you a call and see if youre still interested that way I can place an order on the hitch and we can get in there sometime this week so we can install it”First question; why on earth would I make an appointment to get a hitch installed... and not want it installed?Second; why is one person at this store telling me I’m all set, and then I get a call from Re’quan three days later telling me they don’t even have the parts for the hitch I ordered 3 weeks ago? Obviously there’s an issue with communication here.So obviously I call the store (a little annoyed at this point) and sit listening to hold music for 10 minutes before a nice lady answers. I tell her of the situation and she informs me she doesn’t actually work at the Schenectady location, she’s from the regional office. But after talking with her for a few minutes she tells me that she’ll inform the Schenectady location of my decision to proceed with ordering the hitch so I can get it installed on the 21st. Cool.Sunday the 20th rolls around. And I call the uhaul store to make sure everyone is on the same page for the next day. No answer. I call again, and wait for five minutes listening to hold music before giving up.The magical day of the 21st arrives. I go to the uhaul store. I walk in and I’m greeted by none other than RE’QUAN. I tell him who I am and immediately he responds with “awww man. I called you. The part was never ordered”Me: “well why the hell wasnt it? Why would I make an appointment to get the hitch installed if I didn’t want a hitch?”Him: “man I’m real sorry, I tried callin man you never called me back”I tell him of the regional lady I talked to and he responds : “well man there’s nothing I can do now. You should have called me back (I tried to, hence the regional lady conversation) I can order it now but I won’t be able to get it in until next week.”Me: “I needed it for this weekend man, next week is too late. Just give me my money back”5 days later I get my money credited back to my card.Long story short, this Uhaul on Hamburg Street in Schenectady is awful, incompetent, and lacks basic communication skills. Extremely UnprofessionalThis was one of the worst experiences I have encountered with a company.To be clear this complaint is specifically for the Schenectady U-Haul on Hamburg St. I have used the U-Haul in Colonie for rentals and have had no problems. To save you time if you do not want the details, I would not recommend this U-haul for any type of service, very unprofessional.In this instance I was trying to get a hitch installed on my vehicle.It started two weeks ago. I used U-Hauls online appointment feature to order and schedule the hitch installation at the Schenectady location on Hamburg St. No problems, very smooth. I got an email confirming my purchase and that I would be contacted prior to the day of installation to schedule what time to drop the vehicle off.I have to assume at this point the order is sent to the location of the installation which is why this complaint is directed at this branch.1. I was never contacted for a time to drop off car.2. I called the day prior to find out what time to drop car off. The appointment was for a Sunday. I was first told it could be scheduled for 7am. I asked for 8am and was told that would be fine.Note, that this location does not open until 9am. I made the wrong assumption that someone working there would know the hours, I was wrong. I thought maybe they started the installs prior to the store opening.3. When I show up at 8am that Sunday, no one is there. I call customer service and I am told the place does not open until 9 and there is nothing they can do. So I decide to leave the car key in the drop box and call at 9 to let them know.4. I call at 9am to let them know. At this point I am told they do not have the hitch required for the installation in stock. I tell them I made the reservation 2 weeks ago and was never contacted that it was not going to be available. She says she will see what she can do and give me a call back.5. About an hour later I get a call. The best they can do is install the wiring, but I would have to bring it back to complete the installation. The reason I made the appointment weeks ago was to get this done quickly. I dont have time to bring it back, so I tell them to cancel it and that I would come get the car.6. At this point I could not think of any other thing that could go wrong.I get there and I am told that I will be charged a $50 cancellation fee. When I protest I am told there is nothing they can do and that I would have to take it up with corporate.Before I even leave the parking lot I get corporate on the phone.Basically they say the whole situation was not handled correctly and that I would get a full refund and some type of compensation. Of course the person I am talking to cannot allow the refund and another department will contact me by end of business day. I did not get a call that day and ended up calling them to make sure I was refunded the 50. Nothing about any other compensation.In summary it does not seem there are any employees that know what they are doing at this U-Haul location.Again, would not recommend this location for anything.

If I could give negative stars I would. First, there is what can only be described as bait and switch pricing. Small van rental is advertised at $19.95/day, yet when I went in to pick it up, they charged $78.95/day, which I naturally refused. I then demanded proof that my credit card was not charged since I had already swiped it. He said the sale was cancelled, yet the screen on the customer card reader still showed that it was in mid transaction.Again, I demanded written proof that my card was not charged, so he hit a couple of keys on the computer, and all of a sudden a completely DIFFERENT customers information shows up for me to see--a HUGE security flaw.Avoid this place like the plague. You have been warned.

I AM a frequent flyer with uhaul rentals..Apparently (and supposidly?) uhaul loactions only check tire air pressure on return of equipment - not on the way out - (if it is done at all?). This IS NOT The First Time I Had low OR No air pressure in a rented trailer tire!!!This time I had rented a Truck and a dual axle Trailer that had one tire which was or went flat - it had slice from metal in it - although I cant be 100% sure it was ok on departure.I found it at 5 am after loading the prior night for travel out of town as I always diligently check air pressure prior to departing on 200+ mile trips.This set me back **one half of one day** with my laborer as it took approximately 30+ mins for the overnight answering service be able to contact a local repair service and eta of 75 mins to arrive. I was NOT told where service is dispatched from - Cohoes (Albany area)We decided to risk it and leave north bound from Albany area to stop at uhaul Glens Falls in hopes of a repair at exit 18 at i87 -- Of course, CSR at counter s Not Certified to change a tire at open (7am).And Of Course -- Service finally arrived around 9 am -- waited about 95 mins for service... and then Another Hour to change a tire!!!The interior of windshield was NOT clean ((NOT The First Time!) - of course -- its only found when getting caught in travel with bright sunrise (or sunset) and IS DANGEROUS! It seems Not cleaning interior windshield is a common thing with many vendors who rent or loan out vehicles.On the positive side: Although it took lots of time -- they did repair the tire. However, I am uncertain if my boss was charged on the corporate account or not...

For those who are complaining about hitch installation, charging your card fraudulently, etc, let me explain some things. Let me preface the fact that I am a former general manager of a large U-Haul center in Las Vegas.Sometimes when you call what you think is the store you are actually getting the call center who does not know which store has the capabilities to install a hitch, know what days the hitch specialist works, etc. So when you think you are talking to someone at the call center and then get upset with the store, the CSRs at the store may have ZERO idea that you called; until they see the appointment on their books. Then they have to call the owner back and explain they cant get it done on that day because the hitch specialist is not in at that time.For the fraudulently charged credit card, they run your card with the estimated cost that is from the number of miles you put in, etc. Then, when you turn the truck in, and the ACTUAL miles are calculated, you might see two charges at the same time. The estimated amount will drop off once the actual is calculated.For over charging, U-Haul shows on EVERY contract, and each CSR goes over it with you at the time of the rental, that you are charged for the truck rental AND mileage; Anywhere from .79-.99 per mile. The weekend and holiday mileage rates are higher due to demand. How do you think they would make anything off a $39.95 rental and you ended up going 300 miles??? Common sense people....I know managers and CSR dont like their calls going to a call center but sometimes when its super busy, the phones have to be rolled over to them.I know the standards that U-Haul expects of its managers and CSRs. So before you get upset at the center, make sure you know the story behind it.
