Everything about this shop is fantastic. Its a must when youre In Scottsdale. Has the quaintness of an old time ice cream store. We stop here every time were in town.
Very fun, old style ice cream place designed for everyone to enjoy. There are literally hundreds of ice cream creations to choose from, including build your own banana split!! The portions are large, so its great to share! Walking distance from the free parking garage in Old Town Scottsdale. Prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get. Service is great and staff is friendly, willing to explain menu items and make suggestions if needed. They also serve food, home style comfort options. This is one of the best places for any occasion!
Great Old Fashion Ice Cream ParlorI came in out of the hot sun of downtown Scottsdale to have a bit of lunch. I wanted something cool and I really received that in the Pineapple Malt that I ordered. The old fashion malty taste was strong and just as I remembered from my childhood. The pineapple flavor took me back 60 years to the homemade ice cream we made with the hand crank ice cream freezer in the back yard on Sunday afternoon. It was the perfect cool treat to offset the hot day outside.Wonderful!!!
Such a classic establishment! I had the small hot fudge sundae, cant go wrong with the classics. Ice cream was delicious and the portions were spot on. Service was great, the gentleman behind the counter was friendly and helpful as well. Fun nostalgic ice cream parlor.
The atmosphere is fun, but it had sub-pare dessert and service. I cant see any reason that this place is so popular. They specialize in dessert, but you can get better dessert from Dairy Queen. I guess if all you need is a classic atmosphere and mediocre dessert then this is the place for you!
The Sugar Bowl is fun and delicious. We all had ice cream parties. Great service, clean and tidy.
Our server, Octavia, was fabulous! It was a last minute decision to go because we unexpectedly had over an hour to kill and we were grateful it wasnt too busy. With 3 small kiddos in tow it can be challenging. The table was a bit sticky and dirty when we sat and it definitely needs some TLC, but it is such an icon to the valley and Scottsdale. Just so happened to be my first time there and I would 100% go back. The kids loved the ice cream! (And so did the grown kids)
Old time delicious banana splits and other great ice cream treats and food!
Stopped for a late night snack and dessert. Although open until 10 kitchen closes at 8 so if you want something more than dessert, you would need to get here early.Ice cream was good and variety of flavors were good.
Quick service. Orange sherbert was delicious and the prices were very reasonable, especially for Old Town Scottsdale.
This is the greatest ice cream ever I didnt like the rocky road however
Really good! Excellent food and service. Sensibly priced, not overpriced.A clean and nice ice cream parlor atmosphere.I highly recommend this place!
A Reuben sandwich paired with a Dusty Road Sunday is the greatest combo
Nice and clean.the kids had fun. I was looking forward to a large awesome strawberry sunde covered with goodies but when they brought it all I got was 1 scoop in a small bowl. I had been waiting all week it was my big cheat. I guess they saved me calories so I am still on the hunt for the a whole lot of strawberry goodness.
Oh my gosh.. this place is the best shakes and meatloaf sandwich. Elle was the best server I hope the owner or manager see this review and she get a raise. She was the only server working 5 tables while the other 3 girls stayed talking with a guy at the counter..
This historic location in Old Town Scottsdale is a nice summer retreat for a cold frozen treat or a comfortable dinner. Sandwiches and entree items are well prepared. Ice cream sundaes, milkshakes, floats to make a few are made from scratch and right in front of you. A tasty treat any time I’m in the area.
Famous ice cream fountain (and sandwiches) as good as advertised.
This is a pink 50s themed restaurant with sandwiches, burgers and sundaes. Prices are a little steep but the food is generally pretty good. The sundaes are particularly good and theres a wide variety to choose from. Sandwiches are good but avoid the meatloaf. There are toilets on the premises. Disabled access is passable but the door isnt wheelchair friendly.
Boyfriend and I shared the custom banana split. It was a very cute environment. Wasn’t the best ice cream I’ve ever had but it was definitely delicious and very fun to eat together. Cute, old timey feel inside. Was recommended highly for a unique experience. Great sit down ice cream parlor for tourists.
Such a great place! A lot of fun to take your children and grandchildren for a scoop of ice cream.
Love my hometown old fashioned ice cream parlor. Stop in for a quick lunch or a ice cream. My family has a long standing tradition of dessert first lunch here. We love it. And so will you!
I debated giving four stars for the customer service because it was excellent but seeing how Im grading the overall product I opted for three. The milkshakes were okay. But Im willing to go back and try again.
My family has been frequenting the Sugar Bowl since the 60’s. I’ve been coming to the Sugar Bowl since the 80’s, and have been bringing my children here since they were born! My favorite memories are my grandma and I ordering tin roof sundaes. Now my kids enjoy the same tradition with her! Always clean, service is always friendly, and the menu has something for everyone. Craving the soup, teacup sandwiches, and the delicious ice cream. I can’t wait for another visit!
Is by far the cutest little ice cream shop Ive ever seen.. my wife and I both ordered double decker sandwiches for lunch and they were amazing. We did not get ice cream this time because we were so full, but we have had the ice cream there before and its truly fantastic. The service and wait staff were perfect. I highly recommend the Sugar Bowl
The ice cream was Delicious.... But the young girl that sat us was very rude 😉
This place is a cute, charming Arizona historic landmark. It features amazing pink ice cream parlour decor, tables and stools, and a little game room in the back if your kids need a few more minutes out of the sun. It offers grilled cheese, burgers and other family favorites, and huge ice cream sodas and sundaes and more. Loved it!
We have been coming here for years, always a great place to bring those that like nostalgia! Family owned, just read the history on the menu. HUGE selection of great ice cream and a place for the kiddos.
Fun ice cream shoppe with tasty daily soups, assorted sandwiches and a limited dinner menu. I had vegetable soup and grilled cheese. Choice of breads.
Diner and ice cream shop ! Super cute inside and the service is great . Sat at the counter for a sundae and was treated very well ! Great for pink pics - looks like a Barbie dream house inside :)
Had some friends visiting from out of state and took them to the Sugar Bowl. It is such an adorable place and the ice cream treats are great and so are the servers.
The ice cream was amazing! It tastes like homemade. The diner was so cute and the staff were very friendly.
I had a chocolate milkshake with caramel sauce and oh it was soooo good. Highly recommend
I enjoyed the 🍨 but not the part where I watched the fountain tender scratch his head and then touch my 🍌 with his bare hand and then come serve me my sundae. 🤢 Never once after I said something did he wash his hands. Only put on gloves shortly thinking that would be ok and then when I looked up again had them off.
Very cute place. Good server. Very tasty ice cream. We both got sundaes.
Been here several times and its a cute little ice cream shop, but we went last night and holy cow it was a mess. Stuff spilled all over the floor in almost every location with no employees even looking concerned to clean it up. Bathrooms were terrible and the tables and chairs were sticky. Not sure if management has changed but things were not clean at all and it was just gross.
I love Sugar Bowl. Been eating there since I was in 5th grade. Good food. Great ice cream dishes, and great service. My personal favorite is the Old Dutch Chocolate Shake with the marshmallow lining, but the build your own banana split and several other ice cream dishes looked amazing as well.
A definite trip back to nostalgic times - like stepping right back into the 1960s!Food was good and ice cream was great. We all had a good time on a hot day.
If you wanna feel like your going on a date in the 70s, this is your spot. Or even a cool environment for a family outing. Staff is very friendly. And they even have an arcade.
A timeless classic that always provides good food and ice cream parlor favorites with friendly service. Highly recommend. The kid friendly arcade lets children enjoy some fun on their visit to while they eat ice cream.
I did not have their food ... Perhaps next time I will. However the desserts were out of this world. I will definitely be back
This place has been around for a long time and is always my recommendation to bring family or friends visiting out of town because of how iconic it is. The area is old town scottsdale so it is a tourist trap, but the shops near are locally owned and beautiful to walk through for the art and feel of being in the southwest. This restaurant offers home made ice cream, food, and a beautiful view of the city. Ive never been disappointed with what they offer and the interior has always been decorated beautifully!
Fun little shop! Lots of history. Loved the sherbet!
This place is awesome! I love the vintage decor and atmosphere. Would highly recommend.
Such a cute diner!! The service was a bit slow to get seat but the waitress was so quick and sweet. Such good sundae. Highly recommend getting the peak sundae with hot fudge. Would recommend for date, taking kiddos for a ice cream outing, or sundaes with the girls. Would go back for sure.
The food, ice cream were amazing. The kids had a blast in their little arcade. Will definitely be going back soon and recommend it to anyone!!!
Diner style food which is what we got and enjoyed large portions
Cheesecake was so so good. The ice cream is yummy. Place is so cute.
Great customer service. Everything here is affordable also location is so amazing. I really enjoyed there. Thank you!!!
I have been visiting Sugar Bowl for my entire 52 years since my grandma had a beauty salon across the street from it when I was a toddler. My family likes it more than I do, but it is great as a once in a while meal and, if youre a tourist doing the Old Town Scottsdale thing, stop in here for a economical bite to eat or ice cream treat. The fare is all fresh and delicious, but they dont have ovens or grills, so expect to get tuna or egg or ham salad sandwiches, PB&J, and other quick prep lunch type stuff. Good, though. Really good.
This place is PERFECTION! From the vintage pink 1950s decor to the quality of the ice cream to the friendliness of the staff, we couldnt have had a better experience! Theres a small game room attached to pass the time waiting on your food, but you likely wont be waiting long. There are Family Circus comics in the menu and hanging up, as this was a favorite hangout of Bill Keane. The prices are just right as well, especially for the area. Check this place out! Its truly adorable!!
Very family oriented .. the service was good and the ice cream was great!
Very fun. cute aesthetic. needs a better horse in the arcade that can hold more than 100lbs though :(
The ice cream sundae and the shakes they had are amazing. However the food shouldnt always be the main priority. Atmosphere is also important which is why I rated an average 3. The service was super lack luster. The workers behind the bar could care less that you were there. They almost seemed annoyed. The place also felt dirty. I wanted to wash my hands as I left.
Not bad at all, cool place for family. Games to play as well, kids loved it.
Love it! Love it! Love it!!What more can I say? Although I grew up in California and lived 25 years in Utah I have been coming to the Sugar Bowl sporadically since I was 8, and though some would say the restaurant needs a make over I love that at least one thing in my life has remained same. Not only is the decor the same but the food is consistently fantastic!! Their brownie sundaes are to delicious!! So dont ever change Sugar Bowl!!!
Didnt help stop the illegal production taking advantage of me but good food and people.
