I really enjoyed the atmosphere in Counterpoint Coffee: vinyl records, wine, and coffee. The cappuccinos were great. The almond croissant was a bit dry (maybe because I went on a weekend). Its conveniently next door to a hip looking dispensary. Ill be going back :)

Definitely not everybodys cup of tea, but maybe thats what theyre going for. Kind of a strange vibe; inside is decorated nicely enough to be kind of a hip, relaxing place; but it is offset by the strange punk atmosphere and music. I can see how that may appeal to some people, though.The merchandise was kind of weird, but if youre the type of person who thinks its funny and quirky to have random obscenities on your cups/notebooks etc.--usually involving coffee--then they have what you want. They also sell wine and beer.None of that is enough to warrant a bad review, though. What really bothered me was the random guy who came in and sat on the serving counter the entire time he was there without being told to sit somewhere else. It appeared that he knew the two working behind the counter. I have no idea why someone would think it is okay to sit on the very counter that people are served their orders on, nor do I understand why the employees would tolerate it. We had to squeeze by him to grab our orders. If that is acceptable then you can only imagine what else might be going on.

Good beans for the brewed coffee but could be stronger. Great lemon and pumpkin cakes. Funky vibe, though people were friendly enough. Even passersby (we sat outside) were fun and chatty. Laid back pace. Wouldnt recommend if you just want to get on with your day.

First time trying this place and I enjoyed it! The employees were nice/friendly. The baked good selections were great. The variety of vegan etc. was nice to see. I had the iced mocha with a blueberry donut and my bf had a cappuccino with the coffee cake. Recommend all of that! And of course the place itself is beautiful from the interior design to the architecture. Only complaint would be the price is a tad high on some of the items, but you get what you pay for.

My girlfriend and I love grabbing food/drinks on our dates from local places. We went here about two weeks ago and Counterpoint Coffee is by far one of the coolest places Ive gotten coffee from. Great atmosphere, awesome owner, and one of the best cold brews Ive ever had. Definitely gives Starbucks a run for their money. Check this place out!

Love this little place. Great coffee! However… Options for milk or 2%, sweetened almond milk or sweetened milk. No unsweetened plant-based milk. My suggestion would be unsweetened coconut milk

Excellent Espresso and tasty treats!This place is so cool and great vibe and they also have a wine and beer type of a situation so theres really a lot of options here.It is huge inside and the temperature on a hot day is nice and cool!Some really interesting little things for sale and the decor is absolutely amazing.They even sell some books.One of my favorite things about this place is the bathroom. It is very chic and spacious and clean. Whoever opened this place up really cares about their customers.They have very many seating options here which I really like, you can sit on a sofa or a chair or a hard back chair or on a bench so if you need different seating accommodations they have it.I really appreciate the cleanliness.They also have I think three different little outdoor spaces you can also sit in 💜I give this place my highest recommendation and a 5-star rating this is certainly a coffee shop that is very much needed in the Monterey area.

Got a latte here a few times. Milk smelt faintly spoilt and tasted mildly sour each time. Looks like they keep all their milk outside in a bin with ice, but the ice had run out. Feeling a bit sick after drinking the coffee. There were little bugs on the items in the display case. Unhygenic.

Lovely bit of community and coziness in the area. The owners heart and care for the place comes through easily and none of the tea/coffees weve tried over the past year or so have been letdowns. Easy recommend.

Hands down best coffee in the area and the atmosphere is awesome. I could spend all day in this place. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner and he was very chill. Choosing vinyl records to listen to was also a great perk!

Super awesome space. Good vibes. Nice dudes behind the counter. Delicious coffee, and the gluten free coffee cake was super moist and delicious. Plus theres free 2 hr curbside parking. Definitely a place to come back to.

Very nice location, the chairs are comfy and the tea/coffee is pretty good. Ive had a Chai and an Americano from here in the past and Ive had no complaints with either drinks.

Amazing coffee & amazing people!! We met the owner & one other staff member (didn’t get her name) but they were so kind to us! The owner made us an amazing drink called the undertow and it was incredible! (Highly recommend it) Can’t thank them enough for the good vibes & coffee they offer!

Owner Max Georis mixes it up beyond the mixing console of his recording studio at Counterpoint. Every detail at Counterpoint Is unique and worthy of praise. From the zen corner where you can contemplate, to a selection of witty gifts for sale, its a thinking persons pit stop for food and drink. I never travel to the area without stopping here.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere. They have great artwork, fun books to look through and for purchase. The coffee was very good and well made. I also appreciate their earth friendly products!

I am staying at a nearby hotel. I asked my friend to pick up some good coffee (Starbucks isn’t my preferred coffee place). I wanted a large cup with oat or almond milk. Good news is that they had almond milk. Bad news only one size cup and my coffee is barely warm. Sad.

This palce is great! Happy to see another coffee shop with a coffee nerd for an owner and playing awesome music for the 5 hours I camped there for work. Perfect place to work or study or have a coffee date. Ready to come back for wine in the evening!

Awesome spot! Kind, knowledgeable folks behind the counter slinging some top quality espresso. The space is sharp and comfortable with great tunes and just enough warm sunny spots to balance the cool, modern-industrial space. The care and integrity in their process is clear and much appreciated in my cup. This is the place to go for a quality cup--no question!

Please stop in and check this coffee shop out! Seaside has needed a place like this for a long time. The owner is knowledgeable and friendly and the service is on point. The atmosphere is great, comfortable and modern. Please dont go to Starbucks when this place is better in every way and a local business.

What a great ambiance! The shop is cozy and modern with a variety of seating options. The staff keeps a record spinning from their eclectic selection, the coffee is great and theres some alcoholic options if you are so inclined. This will be my go-to spot for getting a little off-site work done.

Coffee was good and there were many options for drinks. The barista lacked personality so much so I felt uncomfortable hanging out very long. I like to feel welcomed. Other people seemed to be enjoying themselves.

With some advice from friends I decided to try this place. Ive had 1000s of coffee drinks. Some good, some bad. When theyve been bad it usually comes with a bitter or burnt taste. Ive never had a sour espresso/coffee/Americano before. I was so confused when I drank it I actually googled why my drink was sour. Google explained it perfectly and basically stated it was a lack of experience from the barista/coffee roaster. I thought about telling the barista that my drink was undrinkable but then I looked beside me and was disgusted by the lack of cleanliness and figured it was a lost cause telling her my complaint. Dirt, rocks, old fruit, hair, and literally feathers was all over the display next to me. Maybe months of buildup. I would post a picture here but I dont want anyone to lose their lunch. The place looks like someone with zero construction or restaurant experience built the place and/or they ran out of money and just said F it. As I sat there in their very comfortable chair(reason its above 1 star) a couple flies kept buzzing me. I then realized that their front and back door were permanently open, not the type of door every other restaurant/coffee shop has that shuts behind customers.I really wanted to like this place. Beer, wine, and coffee are my things. But it seems like the people that run this place are more concerned about being hipsters and making the place into their garage than having a good product. I immediately left and went to another coffee shop to get the taste out of my mouth.

3 stars by default because the shop is gorgeous. Im an iced mocha person and didnt like it. Its all in the chocolate. Ovaltine is not the right chocolate, and it was all on the bottom. The espresso didnt seem right in the drink either. Ill go back just to try the espresso, but this would be 2 or 1 stars if the shop wasnt so nice.

Seriously the coolest coffee shop in the Monterey Bay Peninsula. I love the calming and relaxing atmosphere that Counterpoint radiates. Amazing spot for an afternoon hangout or study sesh. All of the employees are extremely friendly and knowledgeable, especially behind the espresso bar. The coffee is absolutely delicious and addicting. They also sell alcoholic beverages and snacks to go with either coffee or alcohol. The location is also within perfect distance to other shops and even the beach. Plus Counterpoint has amazing taste in music, a quality record player, and a recording studio!Definitely check this place out if you havent yet, you will not be disappointed.
