I had the best experience at West Seattle Nurturing Expressions. Nicole was so knowledgeable and helped me get the perfect pump and pumping supplies! They also have tons of nursing bras, tanks, and supplements/creams to choose from too. Highly recommend!!

I have nothing but amazing things to say about the team at the West Seattle location. I have a premature baby, and the day I got out of the hospital and needed to rent a pump, the team was kind, generous, and quick. After weeks of low supply, they worked with me tirelessly to help me reach my pumping goals. They helped my preemie learn to latch and handled each of us with grace. Ultimately my body did not respond and my supply never fully came in. This team never pressured me to keep trying. They supported every emotion and kept reiterating that my mental health was incredibly important. When I decided to wean, they gave me tools and a plan and helped to make sure my baby was bottling well and my own body was able to heal. I appreciated that I was given every tool, but never made to feel guilty for decisions that were needed to support feeding my baby and keep myself in good health. Yes they are incredible with lactation support, but if you are a new mom, be assured they are also amazing for the goal of a happy feeding journey no matter your path.

The entire team is a true asset to any new mom. We were referred here by our midwives and it turned out we were so fortunate to have called. Tracy and Andrea scheduled a same-day lactation consult which, I believe, really saved us from even more trauma. They helped me get the support (nipple shield, pump and patience) I needed, and encouraged us to get additional tests done for our daughter. They then followed up via text to make sure we were all doing ok after the subsequent hospital transfer. I couldnt have asked for more caring and supportive people during the first weeks of life for our girl.Even if you have challenges with your insurance, it is well worth your time to book an appointment or attend a group session. These caring women will walk through any possible concern and help troubleshoot with you, armed with their collective expertise. Dont hesitate - just go! Even if all you learn is a little technique, its worth it, and you might meet some cool moms in the process.

The team was very nice there, i went to one of the group sessions. I got some good advice on latching and positioning to nurse my 3 week old. However they gave me some questionable advice on interventions for a lip tie and to see an osteopath for tightness in her shoulder. I talked to my pediatrician and got a second opinion from another lactation consultant (lydle center) and they did not agree. It is my understanding they are known for pushing unneeded interventions.

Nurturing Expressions played a huge hand in pulling me out of some severe post partum depression with my first. Apparently he had a tongue and lip tie that no one (including docs and midwives) suggested to get checked out. Tracy is insanely knowledgeable about all things breast feeding related and never made me feel silly with the questions I would ask. When our second entered the world (last week!) it was on my birth plan to reserve a spot in their group sessions for the first 4 wednesdays. The team is currently helping us with newborn latch and getting her back up to her birth weight with a combination of breast feeding techniques and offering a bottle right after.(covid protocols in place for in person sessions, they also offer virtual).I know parents (including myself) get nervous about anything “cutting” or unnecessary interventions, however addressing the tongue and lip tie allowed me to breast feed (BF) without ANY pain within 2 weeks of the procedure (the procedure was very quick and my son barely cried). He quickly made up all the weight that was delayed and I was able to BF for a whole year. She is checking Our current newborn each session and has NOT observed a severe enough tie to recommend snipping (just wanted to give an example of when she did not recommend an intervention)And if BF is not for you they do not judge and help you with bottle feeding (she helped me wean when it was time for me)She is honest about what she excels at and where to go for further professional opinions/treatments.One thing I would recommend is to make a list of explicit questions/concerns to ask and write down their answers...I will ask next sessions for them to share their recommendations with me whether through email or text so I have them on hand rather than in my (mom) brain. Also be honest if cost is an issue/you can only go somewhere that takes your Insurance (if she recommends additional care)You can also reserve a spot (no cost) to use their infant scale (just call ahead) so you don’t have to buy or rent one on your own.

I rarely write google reviews but Nurturing Expressions came to my rescue! After having many (many) issues with my current pump I went to Nurturing Expressions and the staff was incredibly informative, kind, helpful and led me in the right direction for a pump that was covered by my insurance. This was a FANTASTIC experience esp. when I was in a pinch and needed to get pumping to feed my baby. I would highly recommend this spot for all mamas nursing needs & additional baby gear/nursing gear.

Five days after having my first baby, I was beyond frustrated with breastfeeding and ready to make the transition to formula as I continued to have issue after issue. However after a recommendation from my babys pediatrician to check them out, I decided Id give it one more chance. Im so THANKFUL I did, I just wished I knew about it sooner! From the 20+ minutes Andrea took to give me FREE RECOMMENDATIONS over the phone, to the hands down best nursing class with the legendary Tracey and their homeopathic specialist, to their products (I was skeptical but desperate so tried whatever they recommended) but they WORKED, they are best in class in what they do. Additionally their patience and kindness is so comforting, it feels like you are sitting with someone youve known for years. If you need products, breastfeeding help or just want to make some new mom friends (another bonus that I wasnt expecting) check out some of their classes. All of the staff is fantastic and wishing I could give them 10 stars!

This place has been a life saver for me. I originally went here to purchase the legendairy milk supplements and the staff was so knowledgeable about which might best support my breast feeding journey, asking me questions on how a typical breast feeding session goes etc. I then asked to buy bigger flanges for my pump and instead of just selling me what I asked for, someone from the staff asked if I had my pump and minded if we walked through how I used it.. took the time out of their day to sit down with me and help a first time mom navigate muddy waters. Come to find out I already had the size I needed! Never have I walked in somewhere and been so impressed with the staff, their kindness and compassion goes above and beyind. So I decided to try a breast feeding class because all I heard were rave reviews of Tracy the lactation consultant. This was nothing like I expected. She took the time with each mom individually, listened to their story and help each person on their breast feeding journey. Never did you feel unimportant. In the mean time the staff helped each mom get in get comfortable made sure they had all they needed to be successful.... the only thing I’m sad about was it took me 4-6 weeks to find this place .. I wish I had gone sooner! If I could give moms one weapon in their back pocket it would be this place!!! Thank you!!

Nurturing Expressions is a great resource for new mamas! They bill insurance companies for breast pumps, the boutique has all the essentials a new mommy will need, and the staff is informative. There is a nursing room designed to be a comfortable space for mamas to feed their baby and to pump. Theres a changing station and infant scale that you can use at anytime! The staff is trained to assist you with weighted feeds so you can see how much your baby is transferring while breastfeeding. They have a breastfeeding support group every Wednesday hosted by Tracy Corey who is an AMAZING lactation consultant. I couldnt say enough good things about Tracy. She helped my son and I perfect his latch and become more confident in breastfeeding.I highly recommend Nurturing Expressions to all mamas!

KNOW YOUR INSURANCE COVERAGE! Thats my only advice because this place will charge you fees and say thats just what it costs to get a pump when it isnt true. They are amazing people, my wife and I had great interpersonal experiences at this location. The one thing we didnt understand is why we were being charged for a pump that my insurance says should be covered in full. Im not sure why this is the case but some upgrade fees are HIGHER than the actual cost of the pumps themselves. DO YOUR RESEARCH, dont just pay these upgrade fees cuz they say it is what it is. We verified with our insurance that they were in network and everything but the fees still were in place. We went to another in network provider and got the same exact thing at no cost. If it doesnt sound right, IT PROBABLY ISNT. Great people but the pricing just doesnt make sense. We used Yummy Mummy and that process was extremely easy and clear, most importantly the pump was FREE

You will receive an email about the pumps you can receive. HOWEVER, they make it unclear about which ones are FULLY covered by insurance and instead, show you ones that you have to pay out of pocket for. You should NOT have to pay out of pocket for a breast pump since by law it is covered. I instead went to pumpingessentials.com. With this website, you enter in your insurance information and CLEARLY and IMMEDIATELY you will see pumps that are fully covered and ones you will pay partially for.

One year ago March 1, 2019, I had my twin boys. I was told by my doctor to hurry and get a hospital grade pump so that I could continue to produce milk while the boys were in the NICU. Nurturing Expressions was the easiest and quickest place to go to. I made a phone call and they were very inviting and welcoming. When I went in it had been only five days since my C-section. I got the hospital grade pump went home and started pumping. I had been using the hospital one prior. December 2019 was going to be a huge change for my insurance. I was moving from Premera to Regence Uniformed Insurance. Premera had always covered renting the pump from Nurturing Expressions. Nurturing Expressions even replaced it twice when it wasn’t quite maintaining the suction I needed. So I was disappointed finding out that the insurance I was going to in January would not allow me to rent a hospital grade pump for my twins. They did fund a large portion for a portable pump. However, I understand the portable ones do not have the same suction or type of suction. For me, it was extremely important to continue pumping and keeping my milk flow for twins until they were a year old. Nurturing Expressions totally understood and helped me find one. They had several, but the one that seemed the best is called Unimom. I used it for a couple of weeks. At first, I was having a hard time getting used to it because it pumps differently than even a hospital grade pump. After a week, I noticed that the suction felt quite the same. So I believe I’ve had it for about four or six weeks now and I’m quite satisfied with it, as matter fact, I think there is increase. I have not measured, but the flow feels different. I both pump and breastfeed. The boys tend to stay longer on the breast since I started using the Unimom.I’m very grateful to Nurturing Expressions for helping me find the right fit for my needs. I have so many more positive things to say about Nurturing Expressions, but I’m afraid that this review would be too long for people to read. Just know that if you do contact Nurturing Expressions and go there for your lactation needs they’re going to support you and find the best fit whether it be phalanges or pump. The right support is always important when it comes to feeding your babies.

My child was born with a congenital heart defect and needed to be hospitalized for the first 5 weeks of her life. The staff drove out to UW medical center AND Seattle childrens hospital to drop off my pumps (I had a PISA and also rented a Symphony). They were so friendly and helpful while our world was upside down. I had issues with one of my symphony pumps, and they were able to switch it out for another one seamlessly with zero issues. Their after hours helpline is great as well. The store itself is adorable, with cute baby clothes, toys, carriers, etc. I would definitely recommend!

Moms, please be aware of fees you may be billed from this company. I had my baby in March and due to known milk supply issues I need a hospital grade pump to help establish and maintain my milk supply. I called my insurance company and verified I had coverage of this rental as long as my prescription stated I needed it. I found Nuturing Expressions through the lactation consultant at the hospital where I gave birth. I drove as a freshly new postpartum mom 30 minutes to pick up this pump. As part of the contract I did sign part stating I would be charged an upgrade fee of 47.68 (now I believe its closer to 60/month). However since I had already called my insurance company to check benefits I did not feel this would apply to me. I returned the breast pump several months later at the end of July. Only after that, in August, did I start receiving bills. My insurance company is paying their allowable amount of 40.00 a month and Nuturing Expressions feel they need 87.68 a month so I cam being charged the difference now. This is being charged as an UPGRADE DELUXE charge even though no other pump was offered or available for me to rent. And the prescription I had was for a hospital grade pump. I choose to use my beast pump allowance to rent a hospital pump instead of buying a commercial grade pump due to my previous history. I have called and talked with Nuturing Expressions twice. During the second conversation (while we had the insurance company on the phone) I was shocked at how disrespectful the representative was. Perhaps because they deal with this situation a lot? I had to tell the woman I did not appreciate the way she was talking to me. Horrible customer service. Also interesting - when I rented this same pump with my previous son (with a difference rental company, but same insurance) I was not billed any upgrade charges. Mamas, please double and triple check what you are told! Not fun to get bills for services you were told were covered because of how a company is billing.

Nurturing Expressions is an invaluable resource to expecting families. What’s important to know about Nurturing Expressions is what sets them apart from other companies like Yummy Mummy and Aeroflow is they are a BRICK & MORTAR shop owned by a highly recommended IBCLC / RN. It’s not just a website only based business with employees who know little to nothing about lactation. Many of the employees have backgrounds as doulas, childbirth educators, baby wearing consultants, and as moms! The people who work there actually know a ton about lactation, all the different pumps, how each works, pros/cons of each, and about pregnancy/postpartum life. You can go there at any time and have a one on one demonstration pumping session / breast shield fitting... you can’t do that with a website. Support local business and get actual, informed assistance!! Many of these less than favorable reviews seem to be left by people who don’t fully understand how insurance coverage and contracting works, unfortunately. I’m saying this as both someone who worked in insurance, in lactation, and as a mom!! Often times insurance companies will just say “oh yes, it’s covered 100%.” But what they neglect to mention is that an item may be covered at 100% of the ALLOWED AMOUNT on your plan for that given item or in the contract they have with any given provider. So if the item you choose surpasses the allowed amount of coverage, you may have an out of pocket expense which of course is billed to you when your insurance does not pay NE the full bill!!! Say a pump is $200 but your insurance covers 100% of the allowed amount of $100 for a breast pump, you’d be responsible for $100 and therefor billed for that portion. This includes rentals and purchase pumps. The people at Nurturing Expressions go above and beyond to explain this as clearly as possible because navigating insurance jargon is no fun for anyone, especially expecting mommas. I can’t say enough about how much the people who work here truly care about families. Tracy, the owner, answered any and all questions I had during my pregnancy and when my son was born, we had a rocky start to breastfeeding and Tracy was there to help me through... even over the phone and via text message when I moved out of Seattle. If that’s not genuine care and customer service, I don’t know what is.

Nurturing Expressions is hands down the most helpful baby related service I received. I went into a pain & hormone induced emotional tailspin trying to nurse my baby. Tracey put me on the right track. The ladies at Nurturing Expressions have provided me so much support with breast feeding and baby carrying! I have been in numerous times and plan to go several times more for troubleshooting issues with pumping. I wish I could fully express how much they helped with not only my emotional well-being, but my relationship with my new son. THANK YOU!!!

As a previous and highly satisfied customer of Nurturing Expressions approximately 3.5 years ago when I had my first baby, I am saddened and quite disappointed with the experience I had over the weekend. The first time visiting 3.5 years ago on a Saturday I was amazed at how accommodating the staff were when we told them we wanted to use our insurance to obtain a breast pump. It was easy. They took our insurance card, checked our benefits, and we left with a new Medela Pump In Style Backpack with no out-of-pocket costs. This past Saturday couldnt have been any further from that first experience. I have a few complaints about the service this time around.1) When we told Stephanie that we were wanting to use our insurance (Aetna - Nurturing Expressions was indicated as in-network through the online portal) to obtain a breast pump she pulled out a piece of paper to show us what Aetna would cover in full and the other pumps that had additional upgrade costs. Through my plan with Aetna, I should be able to obtain any electric pump without an out-of-pocket cost. I was shocked that I would need to pay an additional $55 to upgrade to obtain a basic Medela Pump In Style Advanced Starter Set, which doesnt even include a bag.2) Sales! I dont need to be sold on a product. And if you are trying to sell me something, know what youre talking about. Dont ask the customer if you should be changing tubing on a Medela pump from time to time. Isnt that something you should be able to answer when customers ask? Please educate yourself on the differences between pumps like how they work and how they should be maintained before you try selling them to people.3) The biggest irritation of all. After perusing the store for baby supplies and nursing bras for 20-30 minutes. Stephanie came up to me to inform me that I would in fact need a prescription from my doctor to obtain a breast pump. My plan with Aetna, as long as the provider/company is in-network, does not require a prescription or a referral. If this is something that Nurturing Expressions requires for Aetna clients, regardless of what the insurer requires, I feel that this is something that should have been stated from the get go. Not let me and my husband walk around the store for a half hour only to leave with absolutely nothing. I should mention - we drove 1.5 hours to come to this store because I loved the service beforehand. To say I was livid is a complete understatement. Thanks for wasting my time.In ending, I just want to inform those whove continued to read to this point, I called Aetna today to ask if I would need a prescription to get this breast pump. They said I do not. Now if Nurturing Expressions wants to require this for all their clients with Aetna, cool - do that, but dont let people walk around the store for half an hour before you tell them so.Obviously, I have decided to go with a different company who happens to be in network to get the same exact Medela Pump In Style Advanced Starter Set, free of charge and without a prescription.Make sure you do your research before driving and visiting Nurturing Expressions. It just might be a complete waste of your Saturday.

I went in to see Nurturing Expressions after having been recommended to them by a friend whod been to them after she had her baby. Id been dealing with pain in my hand from a motorcycle injury from several years earlier and after about 5 minutes of speaking with the owner, Tracy Corey, she recommended I try a hospital grade compression glove. She set me up with one by Medi and I can only say I wish Id gone in to see her years earlier. Her recommendation took care of pain that I thought Id be living with for the rest of my life. I cannot say enough good things about Nurturing Expressions. This is NOT just a store for pregnant women (though theyre one of the best around from everyone Ive spoken with.) If youre a runner, skier, or any athlete, work on your feet all day, or are in the military, you need to check them out for either the off the shelf or custom fit compression socks, stockings, gloves, sleeves etc. They are a must have and I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Absolutely horrible people. My baby and I went through a very tough time in the NICU and with surgery and dealing with these people was trouble and headache we did not need! Avoid renting from them or anything to do with them. They are disorganized and will stick you with a huge bill without giving you any information before, after or during renting. They are unable to deal with insurance companies and extremely rude on the phone. Beware ladies - you are much better off buying a pump or renting from elsewhere. STAY AWAY!
