Even though they are a smaller Jo-Anns location, they seem to always have what we are looking for when it comes to fabrics or crafting. We always spend a few hours in there when we stop by. They have a small parking lot but there is street parking. And the staff is always so helpful when asking where to find items. The mister and myself always see if we can make the person cutting the fabric laugh.
GREAT PLACE FOR ALL YOUR CRAFT PROJECTS. ESPECIALLY FOR THE HOLIDAYS. FRIENDLY STAFF.
Great crafts store to have in Ballard! They have a wide selection of sewing, crafts, and home decor at reasonable prices - which are normally on sale. The store isnt the most modern, but the selection and prices largely make up for this. However, this store can be unprofessional with two examples coming to mind:1. The clerk was on her phone filling out her time-off form meanwhile we were paying for our things2. A different clerk said G*d d**n in front of me as she was trying to get the register to work overallGreat store overall, but the staff could be trained better.
So happy to have a store like Joanns within walking distance. A great selection of textiles as well as crafting essentials. Store has always been clean and bright. Staff is helpful, efficient, and creative. I almost always have a coupon so I don’t think I’ve ever bought anything full price. If you ask the cashier, they can assist you with finding a coupon that works for you.
They have off street parking which is awesome! Store help was super helpful, like everybody they are struggling with supply and enough staff. Store could be cleaner
Now here is a great little store nestled in the armpit of Ballard. So many selections of many varieties of EVERYTHING! When I think Joann I think fabric!! Not the case people this place is worth the stop! We are talking about all those things you wanted to do or you wanted to try you just never knew where to begin this is the place!
Id been driving north to go to JoAnns because I assumed this store was tiny with a poor selection. However, they have a huge fabric section! Even better than the one to the north. The downside is that there are probably 4 parking spots for this store and its directly across from a huge homeless encampment. Its clearly an old building and a bit run down. Staff was nice and helpful. Overall, Id definitely come here again for fabric.
Garcia, I believe that is her name. Purple hair. She was super helpful on helping me with my curtain problem and came up with so many solutions for me. I appreciate it
Im used to a much bigger store but this was cute.
Great place to get things for crafts.
Staff are always super helpful. Decently large selection of garment fabrics, not just quilting cottons. I get most of my frequently-needed sewing supplies here. Smaller selection of beads and jewelry making things than bigger stores, but a good selection nonetheless.
Love Joann’s! The staff are always so helpful and absolutely love their curbside pickup option! I wouldn’t have survived social distancing without Joann’s craft connection! Love their Ballard location, makes pickup super easy.
Great selection & helpful staff. They have a little bit of everything.
Every person in the store was so helpful. Answered my questions, walked to the items I was looking for, and the girl at the register helped me get my discount when my phone wasnt getting signal. Very good experience.
Smaller than most Jo-Ann stores but they really make the most of the space they have and Ive never been disappointed with their selection. The essential items are all there and if you have any trouble finding what you need just ask, the staff are friendly and always willing to help.I still have to occasionally make the trek north for the really obscure items but all my basic needs are met here.
Surprising number of craft supplies, in addition to sewing accoutrements.
Always find interesting and inspiring things, though sometimes not what I initially imagined.
Love this place - always a win win...
Small store, but great selection of fabrics for quilting and apparel, as well as a bit of everything else. Ive felt safe going in during the whole thing that was 2020 and 2021: with the plastic barriers, hand sanitizer available at the cutting counter and cashier, floor 6 markers, and the limited occupancy. Its still my same old favorite place.
The store was great, but the neighborhood had me worried about having my car broken into while I shop...Ill gladly drive a bit further for a bit of peace of mind while I shop
Store is fine, but parking is limited.
The website stated “closes at 6PM”. The paper at the front door stated they close at 5PM. I was in the store 5 minutes before they had closed so I said I would be really quick. The lady at the front said ok with a smile. I found what I was looking for within a minute and made a beam to the cutting counter. The personnel at the cutting counter stated to me that they were not cutting anymore since they were closing in 2 minutes. If the store is open, that means that the personnel inside are responsible for complying with customer needs. This is not the way a quality business and customers should be treated. This is unacceptable customer service. If a company lets customers in the store, be prepared to accommodate their needs. Simple business 101. I will not be returning. I suggest finding another store with device being at a higher priority for others as well.
I was on a service call in there. Amazing help.
Variety and prices are the same as everywhere else. But I love the staff!! Local crew, great vibe, artistically fun. You can tell they really enjoy their job!
I found everything I was looking for and the pleasant, friendly and courteous staff was delightful.
Terrible communication and customer service. I placed an order for curbside pickup and was sent an email saying the order was ready for pickup and I could pick up until 7pm. I showed up at 5pm to pick up the order and they were closed. I went to the store three times to pick up the order and they were never open. I called and their voicemail said they were open regular hours and the Joanns website listed their regular hours, as well as the app to pick up the order. I attempted to call the store several times, never getting an answer. Finally, I reached a live person who said they were only open until 2pm for curbside pickup. Why dont you update your website and voicemail message? It would have saved me a lot of time going out of my way to go to the store. When I was able to finally pick up my order, the lady was so incredibly rude like she was the one being put out! Maybe if youd learn how to communicate during this time like other businesses, youd have a lot less people trying to reach you and you would be a lot less stressed out. Needless to say, I will never be shopping at Joanns again.
Love this place and the staff!
Staff was really helpful and even found coupons for me when checking out.
HUGE selection of fabrics. Helpful employees
Friendly staff, not super crowded, good fabric selection but mediocre craft selection
Staff is mostly helpful. Selection is varied. New pandemic hours and precautions are good. Parking is limited (5 regular spots) - but turnover is high, and theres street parking. Great for most sewing and craft needs.
Theyve got the best selection of discount fabrics! There are a lot of clothing fabric and flannel, but I actually managed to make a really cyute throw quilt for less than $15 with quilters cotton I found there!
I LOVE this place!! When I need fabric and supplies, theyre right down the hill from my house. I can walk there in 20 minutes.I love buttons, and I once designed a t-shirt for our YouTube show, The Video Nasty Project, with a black t-shirt and colored fabric pens and a puffy white fabric paint marker. Its sloppy, its messy, its NASTY!! Just what the doctor ordered. Thanks, Joann!!
The staff was helpful and able to point me to the right place easily.
Helpful salesperson led me to the exact place in the store and the product I needed
Good location and I was able to find what I wanted!
. I was very surprised to see the inside of the JoAnne Fabrics Store for the first time in Ballard today. It appears to be a store for serious crafters! Much better quality of products than Micheals for any kind of sewing, embroidery, quilting or crocheting .The store is large enough that I felt comfortable shopping and the staff kindly helped me get acclimated since I was new to the store and to locate the embroidery floss I originally came in for! The assortment of fleece fabric made me want to sew up some warm pjs to snuggle up in as well!
I was unable to shop in-store the day I went. The employee was very polite in telling me so. I placed an order for pickup and it was ready very quickly. Parking is absolutely terrible.
Meh. Staff is usually crabby. Not my favorite JoAnn location.
Its a bit smaller than most locations due to where it is, but the staff is fantastic and its the most convenient location to my side of town. It still works for everything I need so I dont mind the slightly smaller selection
Visited this store quite a few times already but after today there will not be another time. The cashier girl was so rude and not helpful at all. There are a lot of discounts going out for Thanksgiving and Black Friday but I had to ask ONE BY ONE for her to apply it to my order. I asked her if my items were eligible for Buy 2 Get 1 Free (as state on the shelf) and she totally ignored my question. In the end, she made me spend more and get less than what I should have. I was here yesterday and the girl from yesterday was super nice, trying to get me all the saving that Im eligible for. But this cashier today shows bad attitude and ignores clients need. Im extremely disappointed and upset and will never visit this store again.
Smaller store with fewer sections than most JOANNs.
Huge sale last visit. So some shelves were empty. Always a fun place to browse and awaken the creative spirit. Never fails I will spend money on things. Be sure to get the monthly coupons.
It’s a good place to buy incidentals.
Decent,bit small.
The staff was kind and fun, they were able to fix a boo boo in an order I had quickly and so pleasant. Thanks guys, you rock! 😊
We came here during COVID-19 so my review may be irrelevant a year from now, but here goes.Pros:-Social distancing enforced inside and out-Online ordering was available and you could search what was available in your local store online-Had lots of sales and solid variety in fabric-Staff was fairly friendlyCons:-Super limited parking, and you can only get your order delivered to your car if you are parked in their lot (4 stalls...good luck)-Orders are supposed to be same day, but mine took about ~3 days to be prepared and I was never notified this would be the case-They will only hold your online order for 3 days
Crew are always so fun and helpful!
Love the deals, cleanliness could be improved
It is a one stop shopping for crafts. Was a quick in and up to pick up something. This is a smaller store, but it is very close to neighborhoods.
It was one of the best JoAnns Ive been to. Everyone was so friendly 😊
Visit was during Covid-19 phase 1. The store is selling a large variety of mask-sized remnant packages, very reasonably, in a variety of colors. There was a 15-minute wait outside. The service was slow and poor due to the store having mostly new hires and limited staff. Little elastic available.
Customer service is never very helpful and can not find anybody to help me most of the time!
Very nice folk running the store and the are being very careful in these trying days. The store carries everything from upholstery fabric & equipment to crafting of all sort, along with being a good fabric store
The staff here are very sweet and knowledgeable. Ive been there a couple of times since the shutdown. I started a crochet blanket and was able to get all of the yarn I needed!!
Fabric store without the hobby lobby politics
Besides being a little over priced. I wanted something but everywhere as a long line. So they offered curbside pickup. But its not curbside pickup. Its online shopping and pick-up at one location. Witch is something different completely. Now that they have my money I have to watch 4-7 days before I can go pick it up. Thats not curbside pickup. Thats just completely false advertisement. Thats like somebody asking me Im hungry get me a sandwich and then I punch him in the face. And then Im a responses Will you ask for a sandwich so I give you a knuckle sandwich. Get with the times the management are limited by their lack of knowledge and foresight.
Lovely experience in-store! Friendly staff, and easy to navigate. Hope to back soon 🤗
Only allowing 20 customers inside at a time due to being a smaller store. Clean, with distancing measures in place, and supplies to make masks are easily located on the aisle end caps directly across from the cutting counter. If you intend to use the infamous Joanns coupons, download the app and create an account ahead of time - there wont be enough time to set things up while youre in line to check out.
This is a small Joanns store so they have limited inventory, yet they utilized their space well. Wanted Papercrafting supplies, which they had some, but I was looking for more. Couldnt get their coupons to come up in my App and was told they had no way to honor any coupons since their App wasnt working. I pushed them on the issue and a supervisor honored the coupon prices which I appreciated.
Always super helpful and lots of fun stuff for crafting
Everyone at this store is incredibly kind and helpful. I had the pleasure of working with Dianne and she patiently helped me pick through all my products and get the most bang for my buck. Give her a raise. The selection here is great. Not a massive store but you can’t beat the convenience of a joanns in Ballard. Love this place!
One of the smaller joanns stores. But the staff was super helpful! I found everything I was looking for.
Came for a box to organize crystals, rocks, etc. About 10am on July 31. Shelves were pretty bare. Husband was waiting outside in vehicle (social distancing) and got yelled at by staff even after he agreed to move. Worst part was cashier. She scanned my 1 item, I entered my credit card and pin, approved of amount... And she just started fondling my item, opening it up, touching everything in it, asking questions, etc. Eeew thanks now i have to sanitize it. Going to Michaels next time.
Lots of different varieties of fabrics! Very friendly staff.
Pandemic has made things a little chotic but the staff are friendly, helpful and I always walk away with more than I intended... 😆 I also feel safe in this larger store everyone is masked and there is plenty of distance.
Helpful friendly staff. Brianna helped me return a sewing machine that was not working out of the box and verify the replacement was working before I took it home. She also helped me get everything I needed for my project as a first time sewer.
Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Parking can be tight and tricky to find depending on when you go.
The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and they keep it very clean, especially compared to other shops from this chain. This Joann’s is pretty small though, with almost no upholstery department and limited apparel and quilting fabrics. If you’re looking for something specific, you might be better off going to Shoreline Joann’s.
Always friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great coupons that staff help you find and use to your advantage!
I admittedly spend a lot of time at this Joanns. The store is very well-organized, something that Ive found a number of other locations to be lacking in. The staff are helpful without feeling overbearing, which I appreciate. I personally often only have time to go in the evening, and Ive never felt rushed or stressed while there. These arent specific to this location, but heres some helpful tips for shopping at Joanns! I would highly recommend getting the Joanns app, and signing up for their rewards program. The coupons are INCREDIBLY helpful, especially given how fast fabric prices add up. The coupons are also for a wide variety of things - not just for sewing. Since this is Seattle, you probably already own your own reusable shopping bag, but the ones sold here are actually both very sturdy and cute, while still being a very good price! They come in a variety of patterns, some of which are seasonal, and are kept in the checkout line. For those of you who sew, the patterns here are almost always on sale in at least one brand, and the remnants stack is always 50% off, and is pretty well stocked. The remnants are any leftover fabric thats one yard or less.
Inflexible, terribly rude customer service! Read the other reviews that say the same and take your hard earned money elsewhere. Oh, and dont dare show up 1 minute early (before 11am). They will NOT help you. Would much rather take my business to a store that cares about its customers, especially during these difficult times. Support other stores that give a damn. ... Shame on you, Ballard. I will not be back.
Great selection of fabric with really great prices! The staff was extremely helpful and kind.We were hesitant from the reviews on here, but we had a really great experience. If you receive poor customer service, perhaps try being more kind to the employees. Kindness is reciprocal.
Great seasonal items. Super sales. Best place for friendly knowledgeable staff who will make a big effort to help guide with fabric, patterns, or notions even if busy. In depth questions should be asked during quieter hours. Kind, helpful service with smile.
Terrible customer service. Im here waiting for curbside pick-up, and was instructed to call them to let them know Im here. I call and a girl unprofessionally answers the phone with a simple hello. She asks for my info in a rude, very stressed manner as if she is exhausted and miserable at her job. Be grateful you even have a job. Wont be shopping here any longer - Ill just go to Michaels over in Interbay.
This is the smallest Joann store that I have encountered, and unfortunately, has a very limited selection of fabrics. For such a large metropolitan area, it seems like this store would be much larger. The employees are, however, usually very kind and helpful. I would just love to see the store selection expanded especially since there are surprisingly few fabric stores in the area.
I love joanns fabrics in Ballard. It is its own little part of the block right across from the park so it doesnt seem corporate like other larger joanns are. I get helpful staff and I have just realized how great of a selection of fabric this little store has. It always has stock pn the essentials, and it is pretty easy in and out. Recommended!
This is such a sweet little neighborhood craft store, fully stocked, and with the kindest and most helpful employees. Every one that I have worked with here goes out of their way to help you with your creative process. I often dread going into the giant craft stores, which seem cold and impersonal by comparison. But this store is like the best of all worlds. ✨Thank you Ballard Joanns, for making craft supply shopping such a fun experience! 🌟
Joann Fabrics in Ballard has a variety of stuff packed into a small footprint. If youre the crafty sort your chances of finding what youre looking for is pretty high. The staff is friendly and helpful and always seem to know where everything is.
Always have great selections
Its a great little neighborhood Joanns, for quick stuff. The best staff!!
Went her for fur fabric huge selection. Cashier was friendly and helpful
Noel was a lot of fun to talk to and seemed happy to help us. Swatch was also very friendly, and let us pet him and take pictures with him.Fabric and notions selections are extensive.
Ive only been here a few times because there is a locally owned fabric shop here, but they recently moved. Still, I generally like JoAnn Fabrics. I used to work there even so I feel I know what Im talking about when I say they need another person or two at the cutting counter and on the floor. Small staff means long wait times. Parking here is basically non-existent. They have like 3 or 4 spaces so if unavailable, you have to find parking along the street. Which, if you know Ballard, is challenging to say the least.
I love this store! I can get stuck in here for quite a while coming up with ideas. Always walk out with more than what I came in for. The staff is incredibly nice and super helpful! Usually at least once someone asks me if I need any help. And many of them are crafters themselves and can give tips! The only reason they get 4 stars is because of the parking. Extremely limited. Dont think I have ever been able to park in their 4 space parking lot. The area they are in is busy, so street parking is tough too. It took me 15 minutes to find a parking spot 4 blocks away today (but to their credit...it is the Saturday before Christmas and was busy). It doesnt always take me that long to find a spot, but sometimes I go up to Shoreline so I dont have to hassle with the parking.
Tried to pick up online order in store per instructions, as well as another patron who showed up for her order, no hours listed on website. No hours listed on door, asked employee letting patron out of store to put up a sign for hours her reply you can find our hours on the app, when advised I wont download an app just to find out hours when Im in front of the store she walked away saying its on the app. Went to pick up order today, as well as yet another patron, employee at door showed us sign with hours had been put up. I asked for name of employee working last night and she refused to give the info. The other patron mentioned she had a very bad phone interaction and asked if it was the same employee and the employee speaking to us would not give the answer. I will cancel all my orders and spend my hard earned money elsewhere, youre not the only craft supply available and I will spend more money elsewhere just to not support this business.
Very helpful people eager to show you the ropes
The clerks were suoer helpful while maintaining social distancing.:)
Usually I find everything Im looking for, the staff are helpful, and honestly, the store is set up rather well as far as hobbies and crafts are concerned. It kind of has a ripple effect, it goes from one thing to the next, except where the two things have common supplies will be its own section between. Great store.
I was lucky and found everything I needed on sale, which a nice surprise.
The staff here is wonderfully friendly and welcoming. Also, there is a wide selection of craft and fabric goods. With this store being located a block off the main strip, it helps to reduce the hassle of parking and actually accessing the store.
Ive been to this location (Ballard) about 3 times. Each one has been terrible. the staff have awful customer service. I understand every store is understaffed and stressed due to the virus right now, but the cashier was very rude. I brought this up with the manager. the manager gave me a shrug and stated Were all stressed. I will not be returning to this location again.
Great selection of craft supplies. Free parking in Ballard is rare. Faylene very friendly and helpful! Theyre already stocked up with Christmas themed items.
