Was feeling really disappointed with my experiences at another local Seattle film shop when I was recommended Shot on Film by a friend. Shot on Film is more affordable, more authentic, and faster by a mile. If youre looking for quality and no bullsh*t, look no further.
Great place to get disposable film photos developed! Have had 4 cameras developed and all were great! Staff is kind and helpful. Helped us choose and load film into a new camera we got. Will be coming here for all our photo needs
Amazing place! before I bought my camera they made sure it completely worked, I got my fist film camera and they showed me how to load the film which they gave me for free with the camera purchase!! also told me if the camera had any problems later on they would swap me a new one no questions asked. super helping and great service.
I had two rolls of film developed and they lost my negatives. I was told to give my phone number and they would call me when they found them. It’s been two weeks and no call. At least I have the scans, but the negatives are important to me. I will never do business with them again.
I live in Dallas, Texas - obviously nowhere near where this store is located. Why am I reviewing it with 5 stars? On Saturday, February 6th, 2021, I found an extremely rare camera that I knew I had to buy immediately for a project that I am working on - building a screen accurate replica of the night vision goggles from Jurassic Park to go with the screen accurate Ford explorer also in the works. (The goggles use those exact cameras lenses) ;) The attached photo is a comparison photo created by the person who first figured out exactly which camera model lens was used to make the goggles in the movie. This is the camera I bought from the Shot On Film Store.I called the store early in the morning to verify that they actually had the item in stock and that their online inventory listing was accurate, which it was. When I said that I would be purchasing it immediately and was curious how long it would take, the person on the phone, I believe he said his name was Vince, said it would ship out on Tuesday because their regular shipping person was out until then. But right as he said that, I heard a voice in the background and Vince said, actually never mind, the owner said he can do it today for you. Lo and behold, the camera was packaged and mailed within a few hours of me purchasing it - on a weekend. Thats a big thing. It was nothing crazy, but a business going out of their way to do something for a customer when it isnt necessary at all and even without being asked, is a tremendous thing and I really hope they realize how they made a customer very happy! I wish them all the best in this trying time, and look forward to buying from them if the time comes again! It looks like they truly care about what they do - if you read this review and see something in their store you are interested in, give them your business - I have a feeling you wont be disappointed!Store team, I will be sending you guys a little JP goodie in the coming weeks as gratitude for playing your part in helping me toward my childhood dream. ❤️
Best place for all your film needs in Seattle. Huge camera selection, good prices on film development. The people here really take care of their customers, Ive had some issues with a few different cameras and theyve always gone above and beyond to help me out!
Incredibly Frustrating.I dropped two rolls of film off to be developed/scanned here five weeks ago, and as of now have not received any updates as to when I might actually get them back. When I dropped them off I was told to expect one or two weeks turnaround time. On week three I decided to give them a call to see if I could get an update on when my film might be ready, and the person who answered the phone just gave me a flat no we cant do that. After telling them when I gave them my film they told me that it must be done already and that they would email the scans to me (which they didnt). Then I called again on week four, and again they said that my film must be done and that theyd send it to me the next day. After that didnt happen I sent them an email that they never replied to.I also called them last Saturday, and today, and nobody answered the phone either time.Honestly, I really didnt want to write a bad review, but at this point I dont know how else to get in contact with them since they wont answer the phone or respond to emails.
Very knowledge dude behind the counter. too knowledgeable.
This is a wonderful photography store with a great selection of film and vintage cameras. Highly recommend!
Awesome shop, thanks for providing a great local option for film and film cameras. Support your local film shop!
This is a really cool place to get film, film cameras, and developing done at. the staff are really nice and chill. The overall place is a 5 star.
Since film isnt for poor people anymore, its hard to find anywhere that will develop it for you at what I consider a reasonable price, and often times getting the chemicals yourself can be intimidating for someone who is just beginning with film, or uses it as a fun hobby. I was really excited to finally visit this place, they turned out my film quick and I would say for two rolls, the price was reasonable. Altogether (not including the days this store is closed) I got my film in two days, which is unheard of now. My B&W film turned out great and I was able to scan it easily, thanks to everyone that works here!
My goto neighborhood store for film and any other film camera accessories. For example I was super stoked to get my Zenit ET in the mail from Europe yesterday but did not have the famous Helios 44-2 lens and was not looking forward to hunting one down on ebay. Luckily I walked into the store on my lunch break and BAM! was directed to a pristine Helios lens to complete my Soviet kit.The staff are super knowledgeable and always pleasant to chat to about everything film. Pleasant experience everytime.
Extensive selection of all things film. Developing film is a decent price with a fast turnaround. Staff are kind and knowledgeable. Everything you want out of a service!
Fair Priced Film & Fast DeliveryWithin two days of ordering the film, it arrived at my place. Additionally, the film I ordered was priced much lower than any other stores online. Based on the price, I was a bit worried the film might be close to expiration. I was wrong. The film doesnt expire till late 2021. Based on this experience and price, this may be my new go to store for film.
Dropped off a couple of rolls to get developed and scanned. Due to the times, theyve put out a self-service envelope station which was super efficient. The team was so communicative, helpful, and quick. Most importantly, the photos developed beautifully - really did the colors justice, and I havent been this happy with how a roll turned out in a long time. So psyched to find a lab in Seattle that takes such good care of film!
Dropped in to have some film developed, and buy a few rolls more. Wow! The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, they have an alarming assortment of film Ive never seen before, lenses, cameras Ive never heard of, and the service is great! Im absolutely thrilled to live nearby, and I cant wait to blow through the rolls I bought there to bring them back to develop. This place is going to be a real hazard to the wallet in the best way!
Theyve recently expanded their store and its really nice! More shelves to view their inventory and the staff are very friendly and helpful in finding what youre looking for. A lot of their stuff is focused on film cameras, but they may also have stuff for digital cameras too. Really enjoyed seeing this place grow into a bigger space from when they started a couple years ago.
Great local store for used equipment and film.
I love this shop so much! The staff are always ready to help and are super friendly. Shopping there is fun because they have a great selection of cameras, lenses and film. Their turnaround times for developing film are fast too! I live near Tacoma and come up here regularly because theyre just that good!!
They did a professional job.Very good quality. Employee was very knowledgeable. A pleasant gentleman.
Great place for just about any camera or accessories you could ever want. And if they dont have it they will, guaranteed. Film developing and film for sale as well. They buy and trade and thats where Ive gotten all my favorite medium format cameras that I love so much. You wont be disappointed,I promise. Ken, the owner is such a nice guy and has so much knowledge. Youll visit often !!! LarryMac
Extensive selection of cameras, film, and accessories. Ken was so helpful in getting me set up with my first SLR camera, so knowledgable and friendly. Ill be back soon!
Ken and co. are great guys to talk to and very knowledgeable about the cameras they sell. Unparalleled selection of film, cameras, and accessories. I bought a camera from here recently and had an issue with the lens that I didn’t notice before leaving the store. Ken swapped out the lens for a working one the next day with no fuss. Will be buying from here again for sure.
Very knowledgeable staff, willing to help and answer any questions, best spot in Seattle to develop your film. Look no further!
Gorgeous store. I bought an AE-1 in mint condition here and I love it. The owner is very knowledgeable and willing to teach. They have all film formats even ones that aren’t in production anymore. Everything from Polaroid to vintage view finders.
I first started coming this shop before receiving my first film camera, and the owner was so kind and even took the same model camera I was getting and gave me a tutorial and a rundown on how to operate it. If you have any questions dont be shy this shop and everyone who works here is passionate about film and is very knowledgeable. I really recommend this shop for all things analog as they have vintage box cameras to the cute Fujifilm Instaxs. I also take all my film to be developed here and theyre turn around is impeccable and the scans of my film are so clear its amazing, I love their work!
Ken is absolutely amazing. Hell give you very sincere advice, without holding back to make profit. The store has a terrific collection of cameras and lenses. If you have impulsive spending habits, stay away. This stuff is pretty addictive. They do photo developing and scanning at best prices in Seattle. From now on, anything camera related that I need, this is the place I will be going to.
The store owner is really great! He’s very helpful and I bought a really great lens for a more than reasonable price. I even got a free roll of film with the purchase. They also have a great selection of fresh and expired films. I always want to come back, but the drive is just so long from where I come from. I always try to stop by on the way if I’m headed south though.
Great place to check out old cameras and lenses. Staff is really knowledgeable and willing to help out with questions.
Great little camera store that is packed with a wide variety of film. Got every thing I need here, rooted through some bins of fillers and came out with some good finds. Also picked up a wide angle vivitar lens for my om-1 at a good deal and he even threw in lens caps for it as well as a shutter release cable! Super helpful
The dude working there was really nice, and polite, lots of cameras and film, the guy who helped me also told me what was wrong with my camera and told me how to fix it in the future, good service 10/10
Amazing shop! Ken was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Gave me great and honest advice. Despite the distance (I’m in Kent), this is my camera store!
I picked up an nice old Yashika 44 from Ken. He helped me figure out how to convert it from 127 to 35mm film. He is very open and excited to help. You can trade in your old collection and pick up something new. All of his pricing is very fair and competitive with online stores. You also have the added bonus of his great return/exchange policy. Overall a wonderful little shop.
I bought 35mm film camera in this store for the class at my college. I really like the owner. When the lightmeter of the camera broken, he gave me a choice that to exchange other cameras which are sold, also he replaced its battery for free and gave more battery as a spare. Appreciate it! I think that this store is one of the best camera store.
Great store to browse through the vintage cameras. Very good prices on vintage cameras and services like film development! Ken knows his stuff!
Great selection of cameras, lenses, and film. They all look really clean and ready to shoot with. Ken is really nice, and is happy to show you his babies (cameras). Im so excited that this place opened here in Lake City!
Writing this as I no longer have a way of contacting the store. I had been living in the Seattle area for several months over the summer and used their lab to have a number of film rolls developed. Had no problems and figured, since this is a small business and after conversing with the owner a few times, that they were trustworthy enough. I ended up selling an Olympus kit with a body and several lenses to them for $70.00 (kind of a low ball offer, but it was a beater so I wasnt too bothered by it.) The owner insisted on paying for the items through Venmo which I also didnt have a problem with (naivety on my part). I waited several days for the payment to go through and... nothing. Upon contacting the owner as to why I never actually received the funds, he was adamant that hed sent them. I then contacted Venmo (over a week later at this point), and they sent a full transaction list which I forwarded to him, proving I never received the money. I called again (I was out of state by then) and he simply claimed he was busy and to call later (he did this twice over the next few days). Eventually he just blocked my number entirely. Now, Ill take this as a lesson in never fully trusting small businesses. I didnt ask for a receipt for the sale (stupid, I know), so Im essentially left screwed. At this point Im over the actual money, it wasnt enough of a loss to be massively upset about, but I do feel like the owner either viewed me (a young person) as someone who could easily be taken advantage of, or that he simply sent the money to a wrong address and refused to admit a mistake. Needless to say, whenever Im in Seattle again I wont be stopping here.
The people inside are super welcoming! If you have a question just ask them they are so friendly and they can recommend great tips and doesn’t pressure you to buy something just for profit
Fantastic store, the owner (i assume, hes always at the counter) is super friendly and helpful. Hes always got good suggestions and is very honest about pricing, quality, etc. Ill be going here for all my film photography needs from here on out, it cant be beat.
Everything is great about this store. Super friendly. Excellent service. Excellent selection. An all around amazing place for a film lover.
Friendly people, developed film and it was ready the same day with high res scans the next day. Just a little far from my home but worth the drive.
I bought a mamiya 645 pro tl here and i just wanna say this is the BEST film camera store i have ever been to! Thanks ken! The service was absolutely amazing, the prices were very good and the quality of the cameras are top-notch.If youre looking to buy or get into film cameras, dont hesitate to buy it from here. Incredible new film camera store. Ken is the owner. Really glad this place opened up.
Awesome place to find used cameras and lenses. They sell and develop film too.
Ive been sending 35mm and 120 film to Shot On Film Store for about a year now. My only interaction with them has been through the mail and they have done a fantastic job with every roll.
Best door to get film developed near UW. $15 develo/scan. Next day.
