Just had a super weird experience at this place. Went in to get skis for my daughter… they were having a sale. While standing in a room full of skis, a woman who worked there came in and told us that they weren’t equipped to fit my daughter for skis???? She also told us that she was a certified ski instructor, but they had a lot of water sports stuff going on at the store right now. She was also wearing a mask that was half hanging off her face and not covering her nose…
Oh wow and they are liars.Horrible company, they lie about pricing. Cheaters and stealers own this place.
Scammers, avoid this place like the plaque.Watch them try to say Ive never shopped here. Just proves how shady they are.
I bought an Eddyline through M2S which I preordered in April with a 50% deposit and picked up last weekend. Im conflicted because I love the kayak and everyone at the shop was great, but at pickup I was charged $150 more than expected. When I asked why, the person just said oh, I guess Eddyline raised the price after you ordered. There was no warning that might happen, nobody ever contacted me to tell me the price was going up, and I didnt find out until I was standing at the register with the boat already strapped to my car. Maybe I dont understand how dealerships operate but it just seems a little shady. Ive been saving up for a long time and $150 is significant to me, I totally understand stuff happens in the covid era but I really would have appreciated a heads-up.
Review updated .... I ordered some kayaks but changed my mind about the order (because paddleboarding seemed better anyway). I was initially charged a restocking fee but this was by mistake. The owner later approved a full refund. I like that the store is small and personal enough to actually have contact with the owner, who seems eager to please customers and ensure they have a good experience. Supply chain issues caused some shipping delays, making it more challenging to get gear (e.g., kayak orders were delayed). During some periods of waiting, the owner offered free kayak rentals. The staff here seem genuinely friendly and helpful. But do be aware of return policies for your orders.
Not recommended. I brought my kayak to them to repair a small leak. They never contacted me, so I called back after three plus weeks and they said it was ready. I used it once and it still leaked, so I brought it back. They said they’d get right to it and I’d have it fixed in a couple days; after ten days I finally called and found out they hadn’t touched it yet, so I took it back. Very unprofessional: no communication, no concerns on their part, and no apologies.
Driving buy stuck in West Seattle traffic I decided to stop in at this shop and ended up getting set off with complete skis boots and bindings. Very knowledgeable staff and great selection of products. Love supporting local businesses like this because The attention to detail and customization far exceeds any chain retailer. Cant wait to pick up my skis when I get back from my trip!
Mountain to Sound Outfitters is a hidden gem in West Seattle! I scheduled a visit for ski rentals and was impressed the minute I walked in the door. From their COVID precautions (temperature checks upon entry, customer tracking, sanitation throughout the store) to the excellent customer service (shout out to Russ for his help!) and great gear, they delivered above and beyond. I look forward to visiting again!
Already made my purchase and they are trying to get another $30 from me many days laterEDIT: Anything to try and save the business.. bunch of liars they know who I am.
Great shop with all kinda of snow gear for skier and snowboarders for all riding abilities. The staff is very knowledgeable about their products and is there to help you get in the right gear to make your time on the mountain enjoyable. I would highly recommend, support your local shops.
Made a purchase and they didnt honor the price, called me days later requesting more money
Carl helped us out with a VERY last minute boot rental nearly after hours. Super friendly staff. Huge selection of rentals for any activity you need to do. Highly recommend
The staff in here is incredibly friendly. I went in and was clear I wasnt spending any money but on a fact finding mission to see what kind of funds it would take if I wanted my own kayaking gear. They spent a considerable amount of time showing me everything I would need and where I could save money. Ill definitely be buying all my gear there in the future ... whenever I can actually afford it!
Stopped by M2S this weekend to get the family outfitted for the winter and received the best customer service and great quality gear. The staff was helpful and kind, and they had everything we needed and then some. The kids are now officially excited to get out in the snow and we are ready for an outdoor COVID style winter. Thanks M2S!
Ive been doing seasonal rentals for my kids for years now and have always had a great experience! All staff is super helpful and friendly, gear is great and they are easy to replace or adjust whenever needed. I highly recommend!
Great staff, they took covid precautions professionally and were very knowledgeable about their equipment!
I had a wonderful experience getting rental skis from Mountain to Sound. The staff were knowledgeable and helpful when it came to recommending what type of skis/boots I would need for my ability level. Price wise, they are very reasonable - I paid around $50 for rental skis, boots, and poles for one day and the quality of the rentals were much better than what you can find renting at the mountain. I also inquired about seasonal rentals which were priced very reasonably and again, they offered me a lot of information and answered all of my questions. Will definitely return!
I chose this place after going into another store to be fitted for boots. Complete 180 experience. The service and knowledge of the staff here, and care they put into wanting everything be perfectly tailored to you is noteworthy. They are the reason people shop local!!
M2S are so great! So friendly and helpful and turned around my binding/skiis so quickly. Really great Covid protocols set up as well.
Well put together shop
Wonderful experience here for a family member getting outfitted with rental ski gear. Patient, fun, helpful staff. Reasonable pricing that lets you try out different types of equipment so youll know what to buy when you are ready. Really appreciate weekend hours so returning stuff is easy after a weekend on the slopes. Plenty of parking out front and relatively easy access from West Seattle Freeway.
Got some help getting ski boots that fit perfectly.
Good website, easy to navigate. On a Tuesday I emailed a request for a spray skirt for a kayak built in West Seattle years ago that was not listed in the kayak fit list. Two days later Shannon replied it would have to be a special order and offered to get the ball rolling. Before noon that same day I asked about options - design, materials and cost. I also mentioned that a cockpit cover they carried fit well and asked if the same size spray skirt would fit. If so, my wife would be nearby on Saturday and buy it. No response to my email on Thursday or Friday. On Saturday I called two times during store hours and got voice mail. I left messages wanting to verify they were open so my wife could buy two item listed on their website as in-stock. My calls were not returned. After 2 pm my wife arrived. There were no customers in the store, just two employees having a lively personal conversation. My wife interrupted them and mentioned that Id left two messages; Shannon replied they were really inundated and its best to use the email system to reach staff. My wife let them know I had already emailed them and had not received a response for two days. Her response was that they were so busy....My wife asked for the cockpit cover and spray skirt that were listed online as available at that moment. She was told the spray skirt was actually not in stock and a similar one was available. So we ended buying two very useful products that Im glad to have. However its disappointing that the staff seem have time to spend socializing and then describe being inundated with a backlog of messages as their excuse for not dealing promptly with customers.
Great local shop with super helpful staff. Theyll help get you setup for any outdoor needs. Looking forward to trying their rentals this year.
Was looking for SUP/ paddle friendly clothing and accessories and found it all here! Its a quaint three bay garage turned into the coolest family owned paddle shop. Glad to see this small business thriving. Everyone working seemed positive, helpful and willing to answer questions! Im going to send all my friends and family here for paddle goodies. They also had a great curbside pickup setup and were following all State Covid regulations that I could see. Even bringing me options of pfds to view while I stayed outside.
Friendly staff, but poor service and extremely slow turn around. I would not recommend dropping your gear off here if you need it back within a month or two.It took 7 weeks to get my snowboard tuned up. I was told it would take 2-3 weeks when I dropped it off. I called three weeks later to get an update and they told me they needed another couple weeks to get to it. I called three weeks after that and they said they hadnt gotten to it yet. After I told them I needed it within a week for a ski trip coming up they said they would finish it that day and would call me when it was done. No call. I called 2 days later to check in on it and they still hadnt started it yet. I told them I absolutely had to pick it up the following day whether it was done or not. They said it would be finished early the following day. I called at 2:30 and they still hadnt started working on it. They said they would do it right then and it would be ready at 3pm. I showed up at 5:30 and they still hadnt finished the board! They grabbed the board real quick and I feel like the final touches were very rushed while I sat there waiting for them to finish.
Friendly staff, however dont purchase anything thats a floor model, especially the Thule roof racks. If its defective (as in my case) the MFG warranty is no good. Not to mention, you dont even get a discounted price for buying the floor model if they dont have any new ones in stock. Im out over $700 for something that I didnt even get to use 2weeks after purchase, with a silly claim that I damaged it. Mind you this is attached to a luxury vehicle that is NOT used for any other purpose other than to carry something across country, which I havent done yet. Just another case of passing the buck. I also wouldnt buy / support the Thule brand itself. I purchased one of the most expensive units thinking it was a premiere and well constructed / indestructible product, but obviously thats not the case. In general, buyer beware and take lots of before photos before they attach and/or you leave their premises. Sad, this world has to come this... #Never-again #Customer-is-NOT-right
I came looking for a kayaking PFD in the off-season (January), when the sales floor was all ski gear. The owner took me upstairs, pulled a bunch of PFDs out of storage, gave me some fitting tips, and left me to try them all out. I found the perfect one! Everyone was friendly too. Worth the trip out from NE Seattle, Ill be going back!
Support local ski and snowboard shops!
Very helpful staff, focused on what you need and not on making a sale. Everybody wears masks, and appointment system means the store is not crowded.
Small shop with a variety of gear and accessories. They also rent out gear for the day.
They fixed my board but found out the strap was too small and when I went back and kinda figured theyd replace it free of charge since it was a mistake, they tried charging me another 10 dollars
Very helpful and friendly staff. They were willing to answer all of our newbie questions and help my daughter get fitted with gear. They have a great selection of items from kayaks to skiing goggles.
So pleased to see our local shop not only surviving, but THRIVING! All the staff are vibrant, knowledgeable, and ever-so-helpful to retirees as well as youngsters. Every time I visit I feel welcomed and respected. They are certainly willing to work with you at your level of outdoor competency - beginner to expert. Pass the word.
I went in the night before I was leaving on a ski trip needing boots, poles, bindings put on... at 5:25pm and they close at 7pm. They hooked it up and spent plenty of time answering my questions. Tyler knows his stuff. I will be back for any of my outdoor needs!
Love this place.. Im a snowboarder and I get gear here... was looking to do some paddle boarding and they do that too... great stuff, close to home!
Great people, great service, quality gear. Awesome ski swap every year. Support your local small business!
Pretty awesome place if you have the money. I’d love to see more used gear in their store. Unfortunately about half the time I’ve tried to go they’ve been closed. Hard to compete with REI in this area, gotta step it up if you’re gonna make the drive. Unless you live in West Seattle or are on your way across the ferry on an adventure, there are probably better options.
Good recovery for customer service. They did not have my order even though payment went through. I specifically wanted to order their product and was willing to drive 5 hours to pick it up. When I called the first time, I was brushed off and didnt get any resolution. But the manager looked into it and called back and even offered to hold the product until the issue was resolved.
These guys are awesome. After buying some closeout snowboard boots and a helmet for my wife we realized the boots were not the right size. We went back to the shop and the owner took the boots back and put the credit towards a new pair. He also fit the new boots perfectly and molded the liners and put in some better foot beds.I made the drive from 50 miles away and I will return for my next board.
I just had a great experience buying my first touring kayak. Heather was very patient, thorough and helpful carefully explaining the advantages and disadvantages of different pieces of equipment and asking questions to be sure I was getting the right kayak and gear for my needs. I highly recommend Mountain to Sound Outfitters if youre in the market for a kayak!
I’ve been snowboarding for 5 years now with a snowboard I found at goodwill for $20, so I knew nothing about what snowboard was best for me, and all of the sizes. I went in there one day and they spent 10 minutes giving me many options with snowboards and sizes. Extremely helpful and I will go there every season to rent boots and get my snowboard all fixed up.
False advertising
Very friendly and knowledgeable. The guy working the area where they tune skis and rent equipment was awesome. Adjusted my bindings within 10 minutes even while the shop was super busy. Going to get my kids rentals here now!
An excellent experience all around. We purchased a kayak and the accompanying required gear from M2S and were very pleased with the knowledge of the staff, the selection of gear, and their commitment to take care of us as customers in the future. Highly recommend M2S if youre looking to purchase gear in the Seattle/Bellevue area - many local shops have closed in the past few years but M2S seems well positioned to keep serving their customers.
Terrific local ski and snowboard shop that everyone in West Seattle and beyond should visit. They put service first and are genuinely concerned with making sure you leave their shop with the right gear for your needs. The shop is funky and crammed with gear, just like a snow shop should be! Everyone at the shop is super friendly and will really work with you to find gear, or just let you browse while you check out the killer graphics on the LibTech boards! We recently outfitted my wife and son with some new ski gear and Greg went above and beyond to make sure we would get our gear in time for our ski trip the next day. He went so far as to deliver the tuned up gear to our house since we were out. Now thats service! Safe to say, we are customers for life!
Great small local outdoor retailer. Check them before rei or evo
My favorite local ski, board and paddle sports shop. Friendly knowledgeable staff, great equipment selection and rental/demo selection of skis and boards. My go-to place in seattle. Highly recommended
Rude and unprofessional service.
A wonderful shop for outdoor enthusiasts. Good prices and quality.
Best ski shop this side of White Pass.
Great local place with friendly customer service. Weve lived in West Seattle for the past 7 years and have always gone to Mountain 2 Sound for all our outdoor gear. Highly recommend this place!
Very friendly, small locally owned company that has all the essentials covered. Quality equipment and very knowledgeable staff. Fair pricing.
These guys are awesome! Super friendly (not always easy to find in Seattle) and super helpful! I am very pumped about the gear I purchased there, and Adam and the rest of the staff there are top notch!!
Great West Seattle ski shop. Solid service, down home, get to know you kind of staff & good selection of gear to rent & buy.
Staff was not welcoming and was unprofessional as we were turned away because an appointment wasnt made, so we will happily spend our money at another competitor .
Great teamThank you MattVery knowledgeable and helpful
Great guys! They got me all set up to get out on the water. Will definitely be back!
West Seattle cant thank Greg and the M2S peeps enough for building up the shop so well! Winter or Summer, youre covered!!!
Greg is the owner and is very knowledgeable and a nice man as well.
Very nice family owned shop. Very helpful staff, and wide variety of sporting gear!
Super friendly shop with heaps of gear. They even let me use their workshop. Thanks so much!
This is a gem of a local, independent shop. I cant recommend their bootfitting staff enough. They identified an issue with my daughters ski boots and were able to punch them out well enough to get us through another season. We started the season with a couple very short ski days that ended in pain.First day back on the hill after getting the boots adjusted by MtS, we skied bell to bell with zero complaints!Overall, very friendly personable folks running the place make it well worth the trip to West Seattle. Support your local ski shop!
Great service! Love this shop. We drive all the way from the east side to shop here.
I had a wonderful experience! great service, and quality selection. Definitely recommend this place
Fantastic!!! Friendly and knowledgeable staff!
Super helpful and knowledgeable! I will definitely be back to purchase some kayaking items from a local company.
Sitting here at Snoqualmie Pass, discovering that the boot/ski resize we paid for was botched, both of our kids’ skis were resized to the same child’s boot meaning only one kid has a functioning set. Check their work before paying.
As an owner Im biased. Come in for the best gear sold by the athletes who use it.Skis snowboards kayaks and SUPS and the racks to carry it on your rig. Shops of this caliber are hard to find amd you cant get a boot fit online.
I am so happy with the work M2S has done on my skis, and they have always taken care of my family with great service. Great shop!
Very Very VERY neat ski shop. They gave me AWESOME DEALS and are very willing to work with you...(prices) Very great customer service.
Not hard to find outdoor equipment in Seattle, but shops like Mountain to Sound are increasingly rare: a neighborhood shop with lots of gear, staffed by friendly locals with knowledge and passion for the outdoors. Pricing is also reasonable to dirt cheap, especially for their rental gear.
Rented snowshoes here, better stuff and price than REI.
Always helpful and reasonably priced. The ladies stayed late and got our Thule snowpack racks installed for free.
Really good guys there. Very helpful.
Pretty good selection of snowboards kayaks and other gear
Thorough inspection and Brandon is super nice!
Rented snowshoes from here. They have a lot of outdoor equipment and the employees were helpful.
Nice local business a bit small.
Terrific gear.
Great atmosphere, attentive and fun, knowledgeable staff.
This is my go-to for snowboard waxing and edging. Have never bought gear here but they have a big selection.
Came in to get my skis serviced (paid for the service) and got harped on because I didnt buy my skis from them.
Great service and super friendly!
Informative crew to talk about SUP
Excellent service!
Very friendly workers, and big variety of equipment to sports
Amazing staff and great selection!!
Great staff and service
Best owners, best around.
Friendly helpful staff
You can rent snowboards
