I called because Ive been having a lot of trouble with anyone being able to help me find a ballast, and giving up on the online and huge brand name stores, I called Greenwood. I felt like Willow was upset with me for interrupting her day - I tried reading her the info off the ballast Im trying to replace, and offered to send her a picture, but she insisted that I drive the hour to come and show her the picture in the store, or to get on some website to see if I could find what I wanted. Im not the expert, and felt like my business wasnt wanted or needed which why Im leaving a 1-star review and finding someone else that actually wants to help me - there was absolutely no effort at all to try to help, just shuffle me off to someone else.
Long history in Greenwood. Probably the best hardware store in the area! Great layout, well stocked, family owned business with fair prices and excellent customer service! Will return.
Had a water heater die at a rental property this morning. Greenwood Hardware had it installed two hours after I contacted them. It was done at 40% the price that one of the large Seattle HVAC companies quoted me.I was so impressed. It is rare that you see such good service in Seattle these days. I would definitely use them in the future.
Such a good hardware store. The amount of stuff packed into this small space is stupendous. Yeah, stupendous. Not to mention their unique selection of items, Japanese garden tools and knives, linens from India, whimsical knobs, shelf brackets, and wall hangers, and on and on. I come for one thing and end up getting lost amidst the aisles and searching for what else I might ‘need.’ Whoever is buying for the store is doing a fantastic job.
Groovy neighborhood hardware store. Theyre a dying breed. This one is good, convenient location, small parking lot too. Nice folks!
Great store! Had everything I needed!
Best local hardware store with the friendliest/most helpful employees. So grateful to have it in the neighborhood!
Great neighborhood hardware store!
Greenwood Hardware came and replaced my 10yo water heater today. They were easy to schedule, prompt, and courteous. The whole replacement took less than an hour and within the same week I called. I was informed on my best purchase options and I feel confident I got what I needed. Would recommend Greenwood Hardware to anyone replacing a water heater.
The management of this place called my place of employment during the pandemic to try and get me in trouble/fired because they found our companies quote (we provided at their request) too expensive. Shop elsewhere. The snobbiness exhibited by this management group is exactly what is wrong with what Seattle has become these days. Y U P P I E S
Great local hardware store. Always surprised at how much is packed into the small space. Check here before going to home depot or Lowes.
Here is the thing, the place can save you the trip to bigger hardware store, but it way too much stuff for such small space.. crowded with things to the point were is hard to scan for items and move around. Add impolite service from the employees and the whole experience shopping there is not good at all. Didnt find anything of what I was looking for and rudeness prevented them to see I needed help to find it.
Byron helped me by sawing off the ends of a plumb piece I bought to fit my bathroom sink. It was so satisfying to take it home and put it for a perfect fit in minutes. This is why Greenwood Hardware is the best! We are so blessed.
This is my favorite hardware store. They are local and knowledgeable. They are friendly! They sell Bicycle Benefits stickers here and I have purchased a few sets from them. They always have adorable baby chicks in the spring and I look forward to their annual cookouts in the summer. Stop by, youll definitely find something fun. They have a bike rack right out front (which I really appreciate). They have been nothing but the kindest and most helpful hardware store!
I would much rather buy something here, and if it doesnt work bring it back no questions asked than a big box store or amazon!
Affordable. Great Customer Service. Recommended.
Love this hardware store! Super friendly & helpful, with a great selection and a lovely interior to boot.
As a first-timer, I was delighted by this shop. An old-time flavor with the latest needs. Must return.
This hardware store has been one of my favorite places in Greenwood for the past 8 years. Helpful staff, small enough to easily navigate yet always seems to have what I need. It’s a great local business to support.
Always friendly and helpfulUpdate 9/12/20: Never mind. Apparently, true colors come out during Covid because the staff were really rude to a customer who forgot to sanitize his hands upon entering (he was wearing a mask and didn’t see the sanitizer because the employees were all crowded around it). He tried to explain that he was trying to leave a 6ft distance from them but the employees continued to harass him as he checked out later too. Definitely not coming back here.
Great neighborhood hardware store with knowledgeable and friendly employees.
I love this neighborhood hardware store.
Usually has the little, hard to find things I need. My go to spot even though I no longer live near the store.
Amazing staff. Good selection. It is worth supporting a local small business franchise over big box stores when its just a much better experience. I cant imagine going to an impersonal big box store to save 20 cents. If you are reading this, I encourage you to shop local, where your neighbors shop. This is a great store.
Full disclosure...I can walk here. Its got a good selection of most things- paint, nuts and bolts, garden equipment, electrical, housewares, etc. Its faster than going to HD if you just need a paint brush and the staff is super helpful.
I love this store. Lucky for me it is a short walk. Helpful, friendly, and just the right amount of quirky. 💘
Great neighborhood hardware store...theyve got just about everything and are super helpful with finding items.
It has everything you could possibly need. Love this place😁
This place had great products and knowledgeable, kind staff. And they like my dog.
Great Customer Service
Let me start by saying that I despise big box stores such as Home Depot. There is no comparison when it comes to service here and at the Depot. For this reason, I’m actually willing to pay more for the same item. The issue is, how much more. Most of the time I visit this shop, items are 3-5 times more expensive. While I love to support local business, this just isn’t acceptable.
Had the best experience here a few weeks ago! Was selecting some tools to be used in a unusual way for something I was creating for a client, and a nice man with a ponytail really listened to what I was trying to do and made the most fantastic suggestions that I never would have thought of on my own. Thank you again!!!
This is one of the best places. A real neighborhood hardware store with a great staff. The prices are competitive, the products are quality, and the overall experience is top-notch.
Great local business with helpful staff. Always find what I need here.
Great selection, convenient.Helpful staff.Owner/mgr gruff sometimes.
Such a fun place with a little bit of everything! It is decorated nicely and the employees are very helpful.
Everything you need to get the job done, makes it nice to have this here especially for last minute stuff. Staff is always happy and helpful.
Nice store, a bit small but usually has what Im looking for. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Good place to bring your used batteries, too.
Great store way bigger then it looks from street. Wonderful service. Some nice kitchen items.
These folks are dedicated to helping you get your projects done well. I also appreciate the amount of folks available to help. I rarely have long to wait when I have questions.
The people working here are so incredibly friendly and helpful that it makes me smile just thinking about them. A very worthwhile neighborhood business.
My go-to store when I need to try and fix something at home. I always get the help I need from these guys. WAY better than going to Home Depot.
This is a great little neighborhood hardware store. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Being a smaller store they tend to have a bit less selection and slightly higher prices than a place like Lowes or Home Depot, but theyre also much closer to my house than the bigger stores. When I need a smaller item or two, Id much rather walk 10 minutes to Greenwood Hardware than drive 15 minutes to Home Depot, even if the price is a bit higher.
I was perusing the site and saw a couple of negative reviews so felt compelled to add my comments about what an amazing place this store is. Its weird how walking into a hardware store can make me smile but thats the way I feel. Almost enough to make me want to move to Phinney Ridge!
I actually feel lucky that we have a local hardware store close by and full of kind and knowledgeable staff. Their customer service is impeccable--they truly seem to care.
Pathetic employees and customer service. Walked in at 645pm to have 1 key copied quick. Lady at the register said no sorry we close at 7pm.i said so you are open or you are not. She said it takes like 10 minutes to make a key so we dont have time.???? Really???? I dont know if she was a manager or not but for the owner I suggest finding better employees.
So wonderful to see small local community hardware stores still functioning, flurishing, and engaging the community! Look forward to shopping here more even though Im not a Phinney resident.
The people at this store and services & merchandise offered are a vital part of our community.
Surprising selection in a small footprint. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
I love these guys. Its a small place, sure, but it is packed with things you need...and with things you didnt know you needed! They are always helpful and if they cant do it or dont stock it, they know someone who can or does. Ive got an unusual truck and they couldnt make the key, but told me who could. I bought an electric lawnmower and, even though it was from a clearance sale with no returns, they took it back when it turned out it was broken. And they are dog friendly. My dogs wont walk by without going in to say Howdy.
Why does it feel like Im at the dollar store ? Ive been to nearly all the independant true- value stores in Seattle and surrounding areas . I enjoy shopping at all of them, except this one is a bit cramped. ( I dont want to see someones rear end when Im looking at a item on the bottom shelf) the products are the same price as anywhere else. Employees are pleasant as the majority of hardware stores. Imo its not worth the hassle.(long lines in small spaces) Unless youre the unfortunate that lives nearby and its the only option in that case well I guess ur going to have to like it.
Super friendly and fast service. Had some glass cut. Also costs a lot less than expected.
Excellent customer service and professionalism. Willow (the GM) and staff went above and beyond to procure items and mix specific stains needed for the Renegade Craft Fair. Great spot!
Terrible return policy. Sold me a sprinkler yesterday, wouldnt return or exchange it today. Amazon is cheaper and has better service, and you dont get treated as rudely!
Great neighborhood hardware store. Have must of what you need, very knowledgeable and friendly.
A hardware store for everyone - everything you need and then some!
Very helpful staff and a good product selection for a small neighborhood hardware store.
Super helpful and friendly staff, they gave me lots of treats. (Review written by dog)
Excellent help from staff & a fine range of products! I highly recommend this place.
Excellent selection of items. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Wonderful hardware store. Great customer service.
My favorite locally owned hardware store and I
What you need with helpful folks loaded with advice.
I appreciate that they are quick to help you out but not bothersome while you are browsing.
Such great resource right in the middle of the neighborhood!
The quintessential neighborhood hardware. Super nice staff!
Great advice. Always willing to help and they can get you to the right answer even when you dont know the right question.
Staff is helpful over there.
Poor Customer service to my Mother in law or a rope and strap, Degrading comments made by 6 foot plus sales rep over a return of a strap and a rope. The owner was contacted and was just as rude,We will no longer recommend or do business at this location!
Always helpful people there
Went in for one thing, came out with 15 awesome things.
Always great
Good neighborhood hardware
Great selection of compost
Very helpful!
Friendly good selection
I had spare keys made...
Prices is more higher than I expected
I am heading over right now!
Stopped by the Hardware store the morning of 11-8-21 and while I was there tried to drop off my completed form for the drawing they had mailed me. Employees refused to accept it saying they had already had the drawing!? I said thats not what the form stated (and its shown on their website too). It said Drop completed form in drawing barrel at Greenwood Hardware BY 11-8-21. None of the employees I spoke with could understand what was printed. They said we already had the drawing, so, sorry! Was it a misprint on the form or did they hold the drawing a day early by mistake?? Just curious cuz it looks like they screwed up....
