Friendly neighborhood hardware store with helpful staff and an expansive selection. It can be a little overwhelming to locate what youre looking for, but thankfully the staff is knowledgable and can maneuver the store for you. Their prices are fair too. I recommend coming here if you have any house projects or hardware needs.
The very best of an old-fashioned hardware store with people who really know their shΓ*t.
The reason for the 4 stars is that even though I was impressed by the fact that they had everything I wanted and I was easily able to get help (unlike the nearby Fred Meyer which has had a terrible problem with shoplifting by the homeless camped nearby as well as pandemic-related supply issues), the prices were a lot higher than Id have liked.
This place is great. Good product selection, people are extremely helpful. Pretty laid back. A great alternative to the big chains of hardware stores. Anytime Im in the area this is where I get my materials when possible
One of Seattles hidden gem they have everything and nice people to help you.
Nice selection, manageable size. Much preferred to home depot.
Very helpful and friendly staff. Great assortment of fittings for plumbing and electrical and a solid assortment of hand tools and power tools. Beats going to a big box store for odds and ends!
Had what I needed and the staff was quite helpful
Always very helpful staff. Even if they dont have exactly what youre looking for (I needed plywood clips for 1/2 plywood), they are quick to recommend another local business that will probably have what youre looking for. They definitely have a wide variety of hardware store etc. items.
I just went to Stoneway to fix a door thats not closing properly. My solution involved buying 3 products. The cashier gave me a solution that involved using toothpicks and glue which I already owned. Ive had similar experiences in the past with Stoneway. While I didnt spend anything, the visit was valueable to me and Im always happy to go to them when I need to make a purchase. If youre considering buying something from Amazon, consider the value that a neighborhood hardware store brings and support Stoneway instead.
Great selection of hardware. Very knowledgeable staff - although they may have different specialities so make sure you ask around!
Incredible selection ...knowledgeable staff...convenient location....shop at this local owned hardware store to support small businesses!
A fantastic selection of Fasteners (screws, nuts & bolts, etc); especially stainless steel (marine influence), also bronze, brass, and highly chromed items. If you are a hardware nurd, this is a place for You!
The best hardware store in Ballard.
An excellent all around hardware store. Usually has what you need, and often at better prices than even the big chain stores. More accessible hours than some other stores. I have started going here first when starting projects that I dont already have the tools or supplies for.
Extremely helpful! Great customer service!
You need stuff? They got stuff! The staff is really helpful and knowledgeable. Certainly my favorite hardware store!
Friendly, helpful staff, large variety of hardware and garden tools & supplies which are competitively priced.
Lovely service. Fun staff. And they were able to get me the specific part I needed, with minimal information (just the model # for a competitors overpriced version of a product).I highly recommend Stoneway Hardware!
I go here all the time, mostly for wire brushes and moss treatment They almost always have what I need which is all anyone can expect from a hardware store. Knowledgeable staff a surprisingly diverse selection. ππ
Last stop for hardware store before you cross ballard bridge and pass through downtown. Good selection and staff.
A nice family operation that Im happy to patronize over the faceless big-box stores.
Contrary to five star reviews I had a extremely poor first experience and will never shop here again. (edit the other one stars reflect my exact sentiment)I stopped by a few months ago to support a local business by buying supplies for a large yard project. When I came up to the counter to ask for help looking for smaller odds and ends I was met with a female employee (manager?) with a holier-than-thou attitude. Rather than help me find the items I was looking for and allow me leave my heavier supplies up at the counter. She told me I would have to tote them around the store while finding what I needed myself... This bizarre attitude and terrible customer service made me so mad I left all my supplies at the counter and left.I ended up going to Swansons nursery and had a far better experience.
They are super helpful and always ready to help
Good got what I need
They have it all and theyre super friendly and helpful.
I love this place. Their helpful, friendly, knowledgeable staff have helped me overcome my innate fear of hardware stores. Iβve never gone there looking for something and not found what I need. Theyβre a legit old-school hardware store and they also have competitive prices and a killer selection. Worth a visit if you need anything- from drain traps to power tools, furnace filters to fertilizer, stepladders to snow shovels*, they have you covered.*all items I have purchased there in the past 6 months.
Everything a hardware store should be, every fastener you could ever want.
Im so grateful to have this hardware store as an option.
This place is fantastic. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and Ive always been able to find what I need.
This small place has a large variety. Iβd give it 5 stars, but I think some of their workers care less about the customer than others, so yes, service is patchy
I love the store, but Dale has no regard for public safety. I really enjoy shopping at small businesses, luckily there are options.Edit: Your employee called him Dale. I am done w this store. Good day.
Excellent customer service, informed and helpful.
Great servic and selection. My favorite hardware store.
Super helpful I was looking for a certain screw and they spent a lot of time helping me find just the right ones
Great place, friendly group of folks.
Stoneway Hardware in Ballard is a great place not only because of the employees and the owner but they have a great variety from nuts and bolts to paint, Lumber, Electrical, Plumbing and your cleaning and household needs and if they dont have something they can either get it or order it for you !!! AAA+++AAA
Super knowledgeable and friendly staff, locally owned hardware store. Best selection of fasteners and hardware anywhere in town, unless youre buying bulk from Tacoma Screw
Adequate parking for crowded Ballard area. Friendly staff and convenient location on N side of Ballard bridge.
Stoneway Hardware is staffed by very knowledgeable individuals who can help you with anything you are looking for. It doesnt offer as many options as Lowes or Home Depot but the service is much better. It is a quick stop to get some of the more challenging things to find at stores in the city. I went there to get more propane and to have keys made. Very quick service!
Great staff
I like shopping here β I ask a question I get the aisle, and everything I want right there.
Great place with helpful staff.
This place always is treating me Iβm a thief and going to steal the store on me like white on rice but not to be helpful and tell me where I can find what Iβm looking for
Love these little hardware stores. Not overwhelming. Full of everyday needs
I always go here when I need something quickly and dont want to drive to Home Depot. Always has everything I need with professional and helpful staff always on hand. Prices are reasonable. Credit Cards accepted. Plenty of parking with easy access. Truly a gem to the community.
I guess, if you want to have employees act like youre in the way of them talking amongst themselves, 4:30 in the afternoon on a Saturday is a good outlet for that desire.
Good selection of materials and close to home. Have never had a problem finding things that I needed in a pinch, for a small store theyre pretty well stocked. Staff is helpful, and unlike home depot or lowes they actually know what their products are, what theyre for, and where they are located. Cant beat that...
Always have what I need.
They have a very good fasteners section. I called before I went there to make sure they had cutting oil. They had two brands, both in two sizes. I was helped quickly on the phone and when I got there. They have plenty of parking and a helpful and polite staff.
A really nice local hardware store with pretty much everything you need and nice people who dont mind helping you find something (right under my nose).
Good hardware store but limited on some of the items they carry.
The staff here is rare type: both highly knowledgeable and friendly too.
Great shop, they had what I needed and great customer service.
Convenient, helpful and well supplied.
They had what I needed and I got the job.
Super helpful staff members and great selection. Check here first before going to a big box store.
Usually has what you need or points you in the right direction
Best neighborhood hardware store, very helpful
Well stocked and with employees on hand to help. Clean and organized.
Super great customer service. Even their other customers are very helpful. Their advice was good and the product worked great.
This is the best real hardware store in the Ballard/Fremont area and much better than any Big Box Store in town. Expert staff, lots of staff, good selection, and good quality stuff. My go to place for fasteners and most home repair items.
The staff were very helpful and polite.
As close to an old fashioned hardware store as you will get. They had what I needed.
A rare great hardware store
Helpful, friendly staff. Wide variety of items and sensible layout for finding them.
Excellent selection of hard to find fasteners with a large selection of stainless parts. Good staff and local knowledge. Wish they were open later so I didnt need to go to a big box. Buy local.
I have to say I bought the absolute best pair of wire nips from this place.. no nipex but the next best thing Ive ever seen that could compare to that genius German engineering. Things cut 1/4 stainless steel all day long every time Ive bout with the stuff. Ill add a pic of em... Bad to the bone...
This was a well considered store for its size and location. It had what we needed on have and the service was good. Would not expect this place to have hardware on hand for every project.
They are great. Really helpful. Large selection. Fair prices. Did I tell you that unlike the big box stores, they dont run away if they think you have a question. And they have answers.
Love having somewhere local and close by to help with all my home and business improvements
Ive been in here three times now and each time Ive felt very unwelcomed. The prices are decent but every worker seemed incredibly put out when I asked for things. Asked if they had 2 ft of lumber and the man at the counter vaguely gestured toward the back and said You know youll have to pay for the whole thing? curtly. Then he implied I was trying to shoplift when he had just watched me walk through the door with a shopping bag from another store.I love supporting small businesses but if Im consistently made to feel unwelcome I wont shop there.
I was in and out pretty quickly because I was looking for a specific type of item. The employee that helped me was great and pointed me in the right direction. They had a wide selection of the item I was looking for. Happy to support this small business!
Excellent. Neighborhood store within a 15 minute drive. This does not operate like a big box stores, but it does carry everything from soup to nuts. One stop shopping. The personnel are knowledge and know where everything is in the store. My choice.
Incredible inventory, helpful and friendly people, LOTS of parking. Always a fast and easy experience. I have not been in a Big Box store since I discovered Stoneway.
Better than Amazon or box stores could ever be. Almost memories of being with my grandfather back in the 80s in New Albany Indiana.
Friendly and helpful staff. Was in and out in 5 minutes with the help of the staff. Prices are reasonable and always have what I need in a pinch. Look it up the next time you need something for the house or side project.
A great place to get your hardware. Nice selection of products at reasonable prices. They have a full staff that is ready to answer questions or guide you to the right section.
This is a good hardware store for those projects you are working on at home.
What can I say, Stoneway Hardware is a most welcome addition to Ballard. Now that Crown Hill Hardware is closed, Stoneway is one of the few true hardware stores in the area and it is much more convenient for shopping than having to go all the way to Home Depot or Lowes up on Aurora. They have an amazing selection and there are always knowledgeable sales people available to assist you unlike the big box stores. Stoneway is a true gem.
For the more common stuff you dont need to go all the way to Home Depot. Support local hardware. This place is great.
They charge an extra $3 for credit transactions. The store is well stocked. Well established merchant.
Very helpful. They literally walked the store for me . All the items I needed were found. Great store, helpful employees. Will definitely go back.
Very friendly & helpful staff.
If youre in a pinch and need something close by its a dream come true. Customer service is a hit or miss depending on who you talk to. Plenty of parking, easy to get to.
Extremely helpful. Extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The Cheers theme applies to these guys: Sometimes you wanna go, where everybody knows your name...
Buy only what you need. Screws, nuts, bolts, etc.buy single or in bulk. Excellent selection of all your needs. Good prices and very helpful staff. My favorite hardware store.
This is an awesome store. The people know where things are and they have hard to find hardware. Minus 1 star as some of the prices can be out of whack.
This is my go to place for finding everything I need for my home and garden projects! Knowledgeable and friendly staff are always willing to help.
This a community store that needs to be encouraged. The prices are only moderately higher than Home Depot, but the service is better. You can wait forever to find help in Home Depot unless you come early in the day when they are accommodating contractors. It is almost impossible to find help at Lowes. So if you want better service then Stonewall Hardware is the place to go and you save gas.
Best hardware store in town. Huge selection of reasonably priced screws and bolts, even specialty ones. Great window rescreening service. Great varied huge selection of everything else, which they also have all in one place.
Had the potting soil I like to use and 70ft extension cords for Christmas lights
The best replacement for Hardwicks hands down. a hard act to follow no question but stone way is serious about what they do and it really makes a diffrrence to my professional efficacy and allows me to provide better service to my clients.
Excellent selection of fasteners. Good selection of other hardware. No lumber. Decent set of tools. Prices are alright. This is my go-to store for home renovation in the neighborhood.
Always kind and helpful and always try to ensure you leave with exactly what you need. Simply a great experience always
Staff is attentive & courteous. They go out of their way to make sure I get the right product. No walking by me & ignoring me (HD)! Love the Ballard store!
Went there for rope and they had many choices. Someone asked to help me shortly after I walked through the doors and pointed me in the right direction. I will definitely go back here before I hit the superstores again. Thanks, Stoneway!
A great local hardware store with helpful, knowledgeable staff that will find you what you need. Ive found just about everything Ive ever needed to do repairs at home from this store. The store doesnt have much space, so they dont focus on big things like wood, appliances, or tools. There is always plenty of parking, and since the store is small and staff is efficient, youll be out the door in half the time it takes to get through a big box hardware store. When Im working on a project on the house, I might show up a couple of times a day, but thats ok. This place is great!
