We have signed the contract for window replacements for our Whole home. The decision was based on the quality of the replacement windows, the price and the warranty. The sales rep Brandon S. represented the company well and his knowledge of the the product was exceptional. He was respectful and courteous. He was able to answer all of our questions to our satisfaction. We are looking forward to the installation.
We previously had windows installed and was pleased with our service. The only reason they are getting two stars from me is because our initial encounter was pleasant. When we decided to replace some additional windows and to have a door replanced, we were excited. The saleman came out, we reviewed our options, and made our selections. We were later contacted by the sales manager telling us that the door and glass that we selected could not be done together and that we would either have to select a different glass for our door or a completely different door all together. Wayson sent us some options and informed us that it would cost us at least an additional $1000. We did not want to pay more and felt that we shouldnt have to since the sales rep told us we could get what we requested. Again Wayson sent us more options and we finally decided on a different door with no additional charge. Weeks went by and we had not heard back. I was thinking I could understand the delay on the door due to Covid but we should at least have our windows by now. Now mind you, this process started at the end of June 2021. On October 27, I called for an update of our order. I was informed that our order had been cancelled on October 6 by the sales manager. Needless to say I had fumes pouring out of my ears. Nicole quickly connected me with Wayson who informed me that the door could not be made to fit and consequently the order was cancelled. I inquired about the windows and was informed that those were put on hold when the issue with the door began (first I heard of this). I asked why no one had contacted us about our order being cancelled and the response was Oh, that was my fault. Was that suppose to make it better? So not only had no one informed us of this but our money is still sitting in Universal Windows Directs bank account collecting interest three weeks post cancellation. I have requested that our check be overnighted to us immediately. I am waiting to hear back from the Jordan the processor (I emailed her the same evening) and Steve who is Waysons boss. Stay tuned
“Super Spacer!!!” Love these guys. This is the second home I have Installed Universal windows in. Would highly recommend.
The sales representative, Freddy, was very knowledgeable, friendly and professional. He did a great job of explaining the product and value succinctly without any waste of my time. Looking forward to my new window which will brighten my back room.
Professional, punctual, excellent service. Installed 15 windows, cleaned-up as they worked, very efficient for a two-man crew. Highly recommended!
Brandon came out and gave us a quote today for a couple replacement windows. He did an excellent job explaining the product and was very professional and knowledgeable. The price was reasonable and the style we chose is perfect for the area we are having it installed in. We feel confident that our purchase will save us money on our energy bills and will also increase the beauty and value of our home. We are looking forward to the installation in the coming months, thank you so much Brandon!
Very pleased with UWD. If you can be patient and dont mind waiting 3 months for your windows they are worth the wait. The windows look stunning and the installation service was professional, careful and detail oriented. Our older home looks like it has had a facelift.
Salesman was very nice and knowledgeable. I am looking forward to my new door
The installers were great they were quick( Browning) and kept the mess cleaned up as they went along the windows look magnificent we are so happy with the structure and fit .Love them!
Brandon Neal was very professional and took the time to explain their product fully. We were confident universal windows direct was going to be the best choice for our home after his visit. My fiancé and I are looking forward to the installation!
Brandon Neal was a very friendly, personable and professional saleman. He made it easier to make decisions about the product they offer.
They were very professional and did a excellent job, im very happy with my windows.
Everyone from the company have been very helpful and professional.
Very professional, polite and my windows look great
We had really bad windows in our home, so we set up an appointment with Brandon. He was so knowledgeable. We learned so much and were very confident in our choice to go with Universal Windows Direct. We got quotes from other companies, but the products just didn’t compare. We had the installation scheduled right in the middle of the snow last month. We didn’t know if they were going to come. The installers were right on time and did everything in one day. Six windows and a sliding door. They seriously are a great company.
Great experience! Fredy was professional and worked hard to get us to a yes on windows . Fredy was very Knowledgeable about the products and services UWD offered . Cant wait for our new windows .
Fast, efficient installation. Everyone weve spoken with has been friendly and helpful. Were very happy with our new windows.
Most horrible experience I have been through. There seems to be no sense of urgency when your new window is leaking rain water INSIDE your house. Been waiting a month for my appointment for them to “look” at it. I have sent pictures and video to several people to no avail. I have literally been tossed around to the point I am full circle with the same people. I highly do NOT recommend this company.
From the initial visit clear through the installation, Universal Windows Direct were professional and well-versed in providing a wonderful experience. I would gladly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a quality, affordable window.
Just had my consultation with Tyler and learned so much about window replacement. I ended up purchasing replacement windows for my house. If the rest of my experience goes half as well as my first then I will be thrilled. Looking forward to providing updates as progress continues! So excited!
Brandon was extremely good at explaining and demonstrating everything for us and made our decision easy
Excellent quality construction. Very pleased with the product, but expected it due to the extremely high cost. However, VERY unhappy with the fact that a company such as this would utilize undocumented workers to install - mine could not speak English. This take jobs away from Americans, and is also illegal. Also, a promised one day install has turned into a 2 week job thanks to damage to our plaster and drywall. Finally, we had to pick up finishing nails out of our driveway in sub zero temperatures. Not happy at all with our experience.
Wrong size window top half round, marks on two of the windows. Caulking could have been neater
Ordered whole house window replacement and half of the windows dont fit. The installation guys act like it is our fault, when their own company came out and measured our windows for the work.
Brandon arrived on time to give us a quote. He was prompt, professional, and informative. We hope to have our new windows installed in eight weeks!😁
Universal windows direct sent one of there agents to my house for a estimate for windows install and the agent was 15 minutes late and high off drugs i have the man at my house falling asleep while standing and getting my window measurement. The man was sluriing words and wrote me a qoute that was illegible smh in front of my kids the man took 2 hours then when i had enough he went to his car and fell asleep at the back of his door where my neighbors and my husband had to wake him they didnt want him to drive but he took off smh all in front of my kids i will be contacting bbb this is all caught on camera
We got our windows replaced back in January and had a great experience. We love the quality of the windows and they were very reasonable in price. Brandon was very helpful in helping us with selecting the right style we wanted. Would definitely recommend to our friends and family!
Excellent quality windows, had 27 installed. Installers very polite, professional, did a great job, and cleaned up after themselves as they went. The only issues were: Prior to them coming out, I had asked they do the upstairs first and they showed up with windows that were scattered all over the house. I worked from home pre-Covid anyway, but I had to keep moving around to find a reasonably quiet spot for two days. The other issue was an inability to communicate because I do not speak Spanish.
I would highly recommend Universal Windows. The professionalism and workmanship was top notch. My new efficient windows will help the monthly electric bill. I absolutely love the windows!!
Contractors were very polite and cleaned up after themselves, not to mention the wonderful and thorough work they did.
If I could give this company less than one star I would among other things we ordered a 5 and one half foot French door . I explained to the sales man and the man that came and measured for the door that the original door opening was five and one half feet but had been altered to fit a five foot door and that I would like to have it put back to five and one half foot .All my paper work specifies 5 1/2 foot this was agreed to. They came and put my door in and it’s 5 foot . They lied did what they wanted and didn’t think I would know the difference the outside facing of the old door is still there and it looked awful and you can see day lite at the bottom of the door .Not very Energy efficient
We signed our contract for a new front door and sidelights installation in October, 2019. It was supposed to be installed in early December, 2019. Installation actually was December 21, 2019. We have had problems getting the job finished ever since. After several attempts to complete the job, here we are July, 2020, still being put off another week for a piece of interior trim in the correct size and color! What a disappointment! We have been paying for the door and sidelights since shortly after the beginning! We can’t get someone on the phone most of the times we’ve attempted to determine the status of the completion of the job! Their quality control and their customer service is awful! We’ve waited seven months since this nightmare began - 9 months since we signed the contract!! Sure wish we would have called a different company.
Met with Brandon. He was on time and took his time explaining everything regarding what we wanted and did not want. He went out of his way to explain all options on window types, colors, financials etc. Once windows are installed in December, will update again, but we look forward to working with Universal Windows.
Extremely disappointed with the sales tactics of this company. Showed up after a storm wanting to schedule an appointment for a salesperson to stop by. We are looking at new entry doors anyway and decided to get a quote. The salesperson was knowledgeable about the products and friendly enough, but they must be trained not to take no for an answer. When we saw the price for 3 entry doors (they were asking for over $10k without financing) we immediately said no, and then he started throwing out financing options, each broken down to make it seem like you were getting a decent deal. Then he threw in the first visit promotional offer that disappears the moment the salesperson walks out the door.... or so they say. Every time a new price was put down and I was beginning to do the math on it I was interrupted with a handshake offer and youre gonna love your new doors. He started writing down more and more ridiculously low numbers, but no finance terms were mentioned, so I just assumed at this point that he was blowing smoke up our tailpipes to get us to sign, so we politely turned him away and went on about our business.I sat down and did the math and figured out that with his last offer we probably would have been spending somewhere close to $6,000 a door after everything is said and done, which comes out to about 3-4x what the job is actually worth. I believe that theirs is a quality product and yes, you do pay for quality. Just not that much.
Currently having windows installed. Windows were scheduled to be installed on a Thursday and Friday. The installation crew came out on the first scheduled day and finished half the job. On the second scheduled day they did not show up and no phone call to let us know. After multiple attempts to reach someone and messages left (there is almost never anyone in the office to answer phones) someone finally returned our call and assured us they would be there to finish the job on Monday. No one showed and no call. It is now Wednesday and we have left several more messages and no one is returning our calls and our window job is still half finished.
Beautiful windows. Very easy and professional to work with
Great service. Visit to our home was prompted. Complete understanding with our needs.
Called for a quote and was told the entire process would take approximately 1 hr. My husband and I carved that amount of time out of our day and 2.5 hrs later the sales man was still there. At this point my husband had already missed a meeting and rescheduled said meeting. After a very lengthy, long winded, unnecessary pushy sales pitch we finally received a quote. We Thanked the sales man and told him to have a good day and that my husband had a meeting and we would get back with them if choosing their company. Despite being asked to leave after 2.5 hrs the salesman sat back down and began an incredibly inappropriate push tactic of “buy now to save”. We reiterated multiple more times we would not be purchasing on the spot and asked him to leave several more times. I was so emotionally and physically exhausted after having a salesman in my house for over 2.5 hrs who refused to leave despite being asked. So my husband and I agreed we would not purchase their windows. Then the inappropriate phone calls to my job started. I have now received 3 phone calls, 2 today, at my work. This was not the contact number provided. I called to schedule the appointment from that number and they wrote it down without my permission. Then I asked them after the first phone call, the second phone call, and the third phone to not call me at work. I am very disappointed with their unethical sales tactics. Stop calling and harassing me, I do not want to buy windows from you.
Brandon Neal was our salesperson. We dont normally get impressed so thoroughly on the first interview and presentation. But he allayed any trepidations rather quickly with his product knowledge and solutions. Weve been pondering over when to do this for quite awhile. Many vendors soliciting in the neighborhood over the years. Made the decision to green light after spending several hours. Knocked down over 40 windows to slightly under 30 with the plan. The price was in our wheelhouse and the guarantees attractive. Closed the deal same day. He knows the competitive landscape very well. That was impressive.
The sales person was nice enough to deal with. Signed my contract in early august. Made the required down payments and it was stated in the contract that installation would occur in 4-8 weeks. That would mean it would be installed late September, to early October. This did not occur. They made no attempt to reach out to me at all. The last week of November, I found a number to call another branch, and the person I spoke with said my materials were shown as being in stock, and that she would send an email to Jerry in Louisville to contact me immediately. Two more weeks went by with no contact, so after searching, I finally found a number for Louisville, and called. They pretty much fabricated a story that the installer was going to call me the next day to set it all up. Low and behold, the installer called an hour later, and told me he was just handed my job, and told to call immediately. I asked him to hold the date for me, but I wanted to speak to someone higher up in this company first. Several phone calls occurred between myself and a person in Akron Ohio. He was a rather not so pleasant person to deal with, and when I mentioned I may contact a lawyer, he basically told me I had no chance at winning in court, but he would be more than happy if I paid the remaining balance on materials, to drop them off in my yard. Obviously, I decided to get the job completed. The sub contractor who installed did a phenomenal job. Their work was top quality. In the future, I would never consider using universal windows direct for anything, but the sub contractor, I would be willing to work with. Total of 16 weeks without communication from that company says it all. Job was finished on Thursday, December 19, 2019.
The quality of the windows is very good, they look nice, and I am pleased with the product. Installation was a little challenging. I was not pleased with the caulking around the windows as it looks like the caulk “bleed” into the mortar joints on the brick. I asked the installers to stop caulking as it did not meet my approval. They would not hold on the caulk so each window has a very thick bead of caulk. I had just moved into the home and had the entire house painted. I was told when the windows were sold to me that there would be no damage to my woodwork around the windows. Unfortunately, I did have to paint around each window after the installation. The following week Universal came to install the exterior doors I had ordered at the same time I ordered the windows. They looked amazing but, one of the doors was previously a sliding glass door, which I replaced with a patio door. After the installation there was an inch gap around that door. I put on the papers that you complete after the installation that that needed to be corrected. No one reached out to me for over a week. I then called Universal and they remedied the problem within a few days. Finally, my biggest frustration has been getting my screens. The windows were installed in early May. I was informed at that time it would be a bit before the screens were ready due to Covid, which I totally understand. I was notified in early July the screens had arrived but could not be installed until July 30th. This was a little frustrating as it is the middle of summer and I have no screens, however, I was patient. I receive a voicemail on July 29, 2020, saying they could not be there on the day Universal choose. I called them back and left a voicemail. They said they tried to call me back after my voicemail but could not reach so they sent me an email. I didn’t check email for a few days and responded on August 2nd, and responded that August 4th would be fine. I then receive another email saying I only had 24 hours to respond to the initial email so that appointment was no longer available. Sounds like I will finally get the screens the end of August. This has not been an easy process.
Our representative Allen Workman was a pleasure. We met him after work at our home. He was prompt, professional, very enjoyable to go speck with. He was very knowledgeable about his products. We were very pleased with his personality. Cant wait to get our new Windows. Look forward to seeing Allen again.
When we called for a quote we expected it to be a quote like everything else. We expected the guy to measure our windows and give us a price on the ones we selected. We didn’t expect to get a two hour long presentation on windows and to be pressured to buy your windows. We do not like pressured sales. This company is a complete rip off. There’s no way you can price us $12,000 for half of our windows then drop the price all the way to $4,000 in 15 minutes. Your sales people see just how gullible people are and how much money they can get out of them. Then pressure them to buy the windows that same day. Most people get quotes and compare to other businesses. This company took 4 hours away from my day and my family. And wouldn’t accept the word “NO”. I advise you warn people they will have to set through hours of window presentations and pressured sales before scheduling a quote.
MARKETING- I took marketing in college and man these guys nailed it on the head. They will use every trick in the book to convince you to spend thousands on a window whether you want to make sure it’s right for yourself or not. The pressure to buy the windows when requesting an ESTIMATE is enormous an un called for. We were told the person giving the estimate would be at our house for 1 hour and was at our home for 2 1/2. I wanted someone to come take measurements and give me a price but apparently I signed up for a personal trade show in my kitchen. I HATE when a person pressures me into making a big purchase. As soon as I mentioned that I needed to sleep on spending $4,500 the rep turned into this sad/mad person and acted so disappointed. Not the type of company I want doing work for me. I would rather hire a small business that wouldn’t pressure me into a sell. I will be searching for a non-commission contractor to replace my windows. Now I just wish we didn’t allow the person to run our credit. Won’t make that mistake again. Stay away from this company unless you want to be guilted or tricked into spending LOTS of extra money for these top of the lone windows. Fortunately I took marketing in college and I could see through every step the sales guy made.
Brandon Neal came to our house and gave us an estimate on our windows and doors. He was awesome. He took his time and explained all the features and exactly how everything was made and how it worked. He was very educated on his products and he believed in what he sold. He is such a good salesman that we bought 11 windows and 2 doors from him. We cant wait to get them put in. We are hoping that the rest of our experience with this company is as good as our experience has been with him. He is a wonderful representative for his company.
WOW horrible experience. STAY AWAY. Read the reviews you won’t regret it. I felt so scammed after the 3 hour presentation. We were expecting a contractor to come out and measure our windows and get a price NOPE. We received a 3 hour trade show presentation. It was a NIGHTMARE.
Brandon Neal was our salesperson and did a great job of demonstrating how Universal Windows are built and are of superior quality. His knowledge of his product and presentation skill quickly convinced us these are the windows we were hoping to find at a price we can afford. Great job, Brandon!
Allen Workman came to our house today and did a presentation of their windows. We were so impressed with the windows and his expertise of the windows and components. It did not take long to have my husband and I to say YES!. We signed the papers and now we can not wait to see them in our home! Thank you so much Allen! and thank you Universal Windows. Darrell and Debbie Hull
Nelson and Carl are awesome installers the best. Carl if you read this you left your hat here it’s safe until you can get it.
Windows look and work great. installation was complete in just over a Day. All appointments were on time and friendly.
I called to make an appointment for an estimate. The guy told me my husband had to be at home when they came to do the quote. I told them he could not be home at a convenient time, and that I wanted to schedule for an appointment during the day as I would be making any and all decisions regarding windows. He put me on hold and came back and refused to schedule me. I understand they want both parties there to make decisions and listen to the sales pitch, but I reiterated that I would be the only one making the final decision. This is the 5th window company we would have had come onsite. I called back and another gentleman I spoke with would not schedule me either because my husband would not be there. I cant believe I have to post a review like this. Sexist? Maybe. Lost my business? Yep
Very impressed with my new windows. Very happy with total process. Can’t wait to do other windows in my home.
Getting new windows by Brandon.
I found your sales and advertising tactics to be deceptive. You started at about $2200 per window just to justify a buy one get one free discount. This is ridiculous. I feel that you think because i am a woman that i would fall for this. By the time this sales representative left he was at $850 a window for what was a very basic window. I shopped around and found a much better window for less. Based on what i saw out there the window you carry should not cost more than $550 to $650 dollars. You provide no ratings or certifications. 3 hours of listening to someone tell me it was the best thing ever i am sure glad that i didnt fall for this. I bought much better windows for a lower price. Save yourself the trouble and dont fall for predatory sales tactics and deception pricing. Wish i could give 0 stars.
Terrible experience and many hours i will never get back. when they quoted me $31000 for 14 windows i was insulted. they immediately cut it in half when my dismay was evident. they were my 4th estimate and it was a joke. the window itself was fine from what i could see. but i was looking to buy windows not a huge discount. i am only posting this after reading the other reviews. any company that discounts over half off is just raising their prices to make it seem like a super deal. as an educated consumer i dont think i was their ideal prospect. go elsewhere
I have had a very good experience with JT (sales) and Dwayne (installation). I replaced all the windows in my house and have been very pleased with the product, pricing and service. After installation I noticed something that needed adjusting on one of my windows and JT was very courteous and resilient in getting it taken care of. All in all, I love my windows.
From the initial contact by the company rep to the installation of my windows, everyone was very professional. I highly recommend Universal Windows Direct.
I am going to save you a lot of time(3-4hrs) with this review. If you have this company come out be prepared to spend a ridiculous amount of time hearing about their superspacer. Little do they know, lots of companies use non metal spacers too so move on. Also, their buy one get one free with free labor is a joke. I feel like they moved into our area from up north thinking we are a bunch of country bumpkins. Nobody, I mean no nobody sells white double hung windows for $2000 a piece. You are just inflating your price to make it sound like a great deal. Next thing you know, surprise if you buy today we will sell you this extremely basic window for around $700 to $800 dollars a window. There are plenty of local companies that sell much better windows for the same or less. Also, if you want any data, performance ratings, or anything you will get the total run around. I finally got out of the rep that the window has a .27 U Factor. That is a decent rating but I found local companies with ratings from .19 to .25! This company apparently has big money from selling windows up north for ridiculous pricing and is spending a fortune on advertising and sponsorships. Please do not be fooled into this ridiculous sales tactic. Buy local and don’t be fooled by this. It’s an absolute joke, kinda like starting out at $24000 for 8 windows and a patio door! Lol
Horrible experience trying to get the windows fixed. Every window leaked air. They came out three times (Joe Ricklefs) from the Shelbyville office. All three times he stated they’ll fix them but never did. Six months elapsed and still get no response call every office from the Bedford ohio, Indianapolis Indiana and Shelbyville Kentucky office. Cheerful operators with their phony talk don’t pass you to warranty office only a answering machine which you get no phone call back. Easy to take the cash, but do not guarantee the product. Smooth talking liars. Good luck believing they treat you any different.
Don’t waste your time! This company is an absolute joke! If you’re a woman be prepared for extremely high pressure sales tatics because that’s what you’re going to get. They are going to lay down an obnoxiously high price then drop to immediately to less than half the price! They will give you a 3 +++ hour demonstration (show), and you will still not be provided with any real statistics or ratings to compare them. Out of thr 5 quotes I received, they were the second highest with the least amount of real information. They start out at $2000 per window and after their discounts you can guess where that will put you! MANY better companies in the area sell a much higher grade window, installed for less!
Great windows and service! Highly recommended! I couldnt be happier!
I had great service with this company, I had Allen Workmana representative from U.W.D to my home for new windows and doors he was very helpful in helping me with my on gone problems with my windows, he was very knowledgeable of the products and polite “not pushy “ ... Had other quotes they were the best bang for my buck...
Never show up for appointments call with an excuse everytime. Then bribe you to reschedule with a 50$ Amazon card. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!After a girl calling me back and I said Im in no way interested I guess she thought that didnt mean anything or it was funny and someone else calls me back 2 days later. I wish she were fired!!
Picture window not centered, flashing and stick on trim coming apart. Was told someone would come out and look at issues but my messages have been ignored for 3 days now. Salesman repeated over and over again that only in-house installers are used, 1 person on installation team had a company t-shirt on and no other visible business markings anywhere on workers or vehicles. 1 installer actually gave me a card for another business.
Super professional and reliable. You get what you pay for.
Friendly, professional and great product
This company will not provide a woman with an estimate for service unless her husband is present. Please, please, for the love of 2019, do not give this misogynist company your business.
Great customer service!!! Highly recommended!!!
