What a treasure of a find! Id never heard of Sleighbells before stumbling onto it on Google Maps a few months ago, and saved it with the intent to check it out at a future date. This weekend, with its startlingly perfect weather, my wife wanted to get a Christmas tree before things turned south for the winter. I remembered Sleighbells, so we set out on the 45-minute drive to Sherwood. We arrived with a little more than an hour before closing, and perused the ludicrously expansive gift shop. Close to bursting with ornaments, knick-knacks, miniature village buildings and decorations, dolls, dioramas, nativity scenes, snacks and much more, youd be hard pressed not to find something to take home here. Theres a bakery counter with a bunch of sweet treats up front near the entry way, a place to order coffee or cocoa in the back, popcorn out front, and a fragrant mixture of wonderful holiday smells throughout the building. They even have a Halloween section, for all of us Nightmare Before Christmas fans, which makes me wonder if Sleighbells holds seasonal events here? Apparently they open each year in July and stay open until New Years, which leads me to believe there is more Holiday cheer going on here than just Christmas. Im going to have to look into it later! As for the tree selection process, the staff here were extremely polite and helpful, explaining the process (check in, get a tag, take a saw, find your tree, cut it yourself, and either leave it for their staff to pick up and deliver to the staging area, or carry it down yourself). I carried our tree down the hill, not wanting to wait the 15-60 minutes for their truck to round up all the waiting trees and bring them down. Once there, the tree was measured, shaken, bound up, and mounted to our car (after paying, of course). The staff were extremely friendly, communicative and helpful during the whole process! They were even able to answer some questions about an odd-ball, completely red tree we stumbled upon later (and probably would have bought instead, had we seen it first)!Prices per tree seem to be slightly higher than what you might find at a church or Boy Scout tree lot, but youd be remiss to miss the magical experience at Sleighbells. Unfortunately, my wife and I werent able to go to Leavenworth for Christmas this year, as we usually do, and as such werent able to select a new ornament for our tree from Kris Kringl, the year-round Christmas store, so it was a wonderful discovery to find such a treasure right here in our neck of the woods. Sleighbells not only filled the void for our holiday ornamental and knick-knackery shopping fix, I believe it will become a new holiday tradition, because I cant see any other tree farm competing with this one. There simply is no comparison.
Loved this shop! Lots of wonderful pieces to add to any collection! Impromptu stop while in the area from the midwest for my daughters wedding. Great staff who packed purchases well for a 30 hour drive! I was hoping for a website to be able to support tyem from afar!
Amazing shop! Everyone is so friendly and helpful! It was our first time here, and our neighbors told us about this place. They have ornaments for EVERYTHING! I laughed so hard when I saw an ornament for a shopaholic, it was a stack of Amazon boxes. I thought that was amazing. They had free coffee and hot chocolate for customers while we browsed. They also had samples of a cranberry cider by the register. We reserved our tree and asked if we can cut it down ourselves, so they can cut the tree for you if you want. MANY trees to choose from, its a little pricier but we didnt mind.
As soon as you walk in the dopamine will hit. Great decorations. Lovely staff
Great Family Experience. Pick out your tree. cut it down, find a memory item (the old farm house is two floors of Christmas ornaments and decorations from nutcrackers to train/town displays), then share a hot chocolate christmas popcorn or hand made apple donut. After all that, go get your tree, they hauled it up, shook the loose needles off, netted it up, then tied it to your roof. A truly full service way to start your Christmas.
I Love shopping here. So many wonderful holiday ornaments from Christmas but al Thanksgiving and Halloween 🎃
Gift cards are a fabulous wedding present!Any ornament category, I bet they have it. Never fails!
Sleighbells is an awesome place. Most of the decorations are 1 of a kind and once they are gone, you will never see them again. I currently cant afford the things there I would like to buy, but I will be buying items there once I have the opportunity.
I just visited the beautiful Sleighbell’s Christmas shop for the first time. Although the store was beautiful with unique gifts I was disappointed with the service of the employees. I walked by 3 staff members and not one gave me a greeting or asked if I needed help with anything. I ordered fudge and the gal that helped me made heavy sighs and small growl like sounds during my choosing of fudge. It made me feel uncomfortable and like I was inconveniencing her. The same gal also made the same sounds to the other employee when someone called in to reserve some fudge. I could hear the bothersome conversation. I purchased a couple more small items then checked out and the cashier lady did not say anything about “Thank you for coming in!” Or “Enjoy your purchase”etc. (You get the hint) Especially during Covid when businesses are closing, I would think the store employees would try to make the customers feel welcome. Not sure if I’ll ever return. By the way it wasn’t busy only 2 customers, myself and another person. Reading the reviews I noticed that customer service has been an issue with other customers.Constructive criticism and advise,JCO
Worst noble tree I’ve ever bought. What a mistake! It was precut and set up in a way that made it look “straight”. They took it and wrapped it and when we got home we were shocked of how crooked it was. It became the joke of the season. And paid $195 for it (12’). Never again....(have pics to prove it)
My Mom and I had an annual tradition to come here every holiday season and buy an ornament. Nice memories.
No one was practicing any social distancing nor a person to monitor anyone. I even saw a man walk through the crowd without a mask.
Literally my favorite Christmas shop since I was 5. Always has beautiful vintage Christmas decorations (and a fun little Halloween section!)
I love the selection of fall and winter collectibles. The staff has always been very helpful and friendly.
I have shopped here for 20 years. 20 years of fun, joy, and happy memories.
Haven’t been there in years because of a previous experience but had a good time this year. The Santa there today (12/14/19)was fantastic! They need better organization and register check out downstairs still so I imagine when it’s slammed, it’s a disaster there but today wasn’t too bad. Overall, the trees are overpriced but pretty and the shake and bail them for you. If you can go on a less busy day, you should have a pretty positive experience. Just be prepared to spend the money on it.
Their store/shop is wonderful with lots of ornaments and Christmas decor to choose from. Santa was great and the kids love the hot cocoa. Weve been coming here for the past 5 years and their tree selection this year was slim pickings. Other customers were saying the same thing while out and about. We settled on a barely 6 ft noble that we paid $75 for with a bend at the top. It was the best tree we could find and we typically like to get a 7 foot tree or slightly larger. Not sure if the drought is impacting their selection and their price keeps increasing each year. It seems their newer trees need time to grow and mature...like years.
Huge selection of Christmas trees and a gift shop with Santa. Free coffee and hot chocolate for the kids too.
We visit a few times every year, it never disappoints. Fall is our favorite time of the year to go.
Super fun! It was a real pick me up
We have a tradition in our family where we take the kids to get a new ornament every year. This place is great because they have sweet treats, a ton of ornaments, and also u-cut Christmas tree farm. Theres also a lounge on the first floor to sip some hot chocolate and get warm by the artificial fireplace. The price of the ornaments are decent and they have a wide variety to choose from. They also have those ceramic Houses/Christmas towns that you can buy and make a set.
Wonderful, friendly staff and so many beautiful Christmas ornaments, mementos and bits and pieces. So much fun to wander through. Lots of parking and amazing views of Mount Hood
Sleigh bells is great! Large selection of trees!
People were very friendly, got my tree all shook out and wrapped and loaded up for me.
The inside of the store is spectacular! They have outstanding customer service along with tons of options in ornaments! With your choice of a complementary cup of hot chocolate or coffee, they made this experience even better! Best fudge I have ever tried in my life!!I cannot wait to go back and have my kids see santa along with taking our fresh cut tree home
Trees at around $90 to $100. Free hot chocolate in gift shop.
This was a pleasant surprise! Although super busy the day after thanksgiving, they kept the lines moving in a timely manner. Very nice trees/ expensive too. Option to have one that is already cut down, or cut one down yourself. Shop inside for the little ones to have a photo taken with Santa.
Horrible customer service!!! Called there to get price quotes on the trees there and the girl on the phone had the nerve to say “oh my god” to someone in the back ground because she didn’t want to answer the different costs of the different size trees. For being such a great place to visit, these people have become very entitled and it shows through their customer services and their tones. No wonder they have had other bad reviews on their customer service, I can see why. Words of advise: if you don’t want to answer people’s questions over the phone and you want business, post the info online that way people can get the answers they need before driving over an hour to get there. Very unprofessional and very un Christmas like. Looks like I won’t be going there anymore. Your fudge and little store isn’t that great, lose your entitled ness or start losing your customers!
Love coming here for my holiday ornaments and decorations! They have a massive selection, and I always leave with plenty of fun new things. The owner of the shop is very nice too, she donated a gift basket for my friend’s charity auction. A great place to visit!
Hands down the best Christmas shop (2 floors packed, tastefully) with every imaginable ornament. Ive traveled the world visiting many shops of this type but this is the best. Now that I live in FL, its a must-stop everyvisit back. At Christmas-time, their red and green caramel corn is offered..dont pass that up...and, Santa visits, and you could pick out your ownfresh tree and have it cut for you...just go...youll thank me.
I have found my new favorite store. Christmas and so many different styles. Everything one could want. The staff went above and beyond. Had a blast today. We even found an Airman ornament that looked like our son, an Airman. Serendipity
Awesome as always see you guys next year
One of my favorite places for Christmas ornaments and decor. Great selection of Snowbabies and Old World Christmas ornaments. Staff is always friendly and helpful. And they sell delicious fresh fudge that is made on site
Wonderful shop that I visit at least twice a year! They have a wonderful Halloween section with the most magical things, and Christmas galore! The staff is so very helpful. A wonderful tradition to visit.
One of the best Christmas places around. Free coffee cocoa. They live have entertainment, Santa, trees, fresh kettle corn, spiced donuts, and a great selection of Christmas decorations on display. Its a great place to spend an afternoon with the family.
Great improvements only add to the magic and tradition of Sleighbells. Not Walmart or Target products that you can find anywhere. Specialty items and something for everyone. The experience is wonderful. Cant wait to come back for our tree in December!!!!!
Well, it started off as a fair experience, quickly deteriorated at the Tree Barn at check in.TL;DR - if your values are around the spirit of Christmas, love, joy, gratitude, and memories, youll do well to avoid the terse and short tempered young lady who working the Christmas tree barn this evening (Straight blonde Hair, unfortunate sore on her lip, younger). Incredibly rude to my wife, to the point we left without even looking at their selection (I miss Hagg Christmas tree farm already, the spot we had been visiting for years but went out of business this fall). Good news is right down the road there is an organization selling trees for a charity (Race for the Cure) at much lower prices, incredibly kind folks. We tipped them the difference in what it would have cost us at Sleighbells on principle alone.A lot of us look at the selection of our tree as tradition. Its something we look forward to, we love contributing to local small businesses, enjoy very much the spirit of the holidays in the process. This year we drove to our usual spot, they had closed :(.When we first arrived as Sleighbells, we were pretty excited- extensive gift shop, complimentary hot cocoa, and a lot to look at in terms of commercializing the holiday. As nice as the trinkets are, Christmas is about spreading joy and love- kindness and generosity. The experience of finding the tree we will look at for over a month in symbolism of the holiday, was quickly ruined by a young lady who was working the counter at the check in.We decided at first to pick a pre-cut tree, but when we realized the prices were literally about 40 dollars more expensive than the same sized tree down the road, in similar condition, we decided we would cut our own (at Sleighbells) and save a few bucks by not choosing pre-cut.The young lady completely change her demeanor as if we were annoying her now- gave us a lecture about which trees we couldnt cut, the fines involved, and when my overly polite wife, a school teacher asked a question, she was met with a rude pause, a scowl, and verbatim uhhh, I was getting to that.... We were completely taken back. At this point there was no way I would be contributing another dime to this business model this season. We made the mistake of going through the gift shop first, and buying ornaments for the tree.I said, that will be fine, thank you for your time we will be going elsewhere. I was met with another snarky glare- I said merry Christmas on my way out, and was met with a feigned and sarcastic, overly energetic Merry Christmas in response. We asked a question, at a booth, with about 6 different signs and sets of instructions, and a very confusing pricing structure, on our first visit. How dare we.People have bad days, but if you are going to charge a premium such as this location, part of that premium is the experience. We are looking and hoping to participate with family operated and owned organizations that understand their product, this one in particular being a symbolic metaphor of what Christmas is all about. We dont mind paying a little extra if the joy and spirit of the holiday is the focus of the operators. But we dont just look at Christmas as a way to capitalize on peoples good nature and cheer- take money out of their wallets, and treat them badly in the process.I dont have a lot of years left with my kiddo before she will be starting her own family and her own traditions. Every year counts. They are finite, special, and sacred.Get your act together, the humble salesman at the shack on 99, selling trees for far less and donating part of the sales to cancer prevention just offered us some of the best customer service weve ever had during the holidays. Sure, it wasnt as flashy, no gift shop- but he cared about the people, the trees, and the reason for the season- and he definitely didnt talk back to my wife like an angry teenager upset with her parents.Merry Christmas from Sleighbells, where snarky sarcasm is free of charge, but everything else is overpriced and overconfident.
I have been going to sleigh bells for 25+ years now. When I had children I brought them here.. In the last 2 years, have been very disappointed in the selectionLast year they said the poor selection was because they had closed the store and then due to customer demand reopened later and werent able to go and purchase the years goods at market. But went back this year, and there was still the same old stuff and same old empty shelves and hooks. A different Santa was there and he was not very jolly. 2 of my 3 daughters walked out with nothing. The only good thing left is the fudge shop and complimentary cocoa.I guess we will have to find a new place. For our annual tradition.Very sad customer😞
Christmas shop is huge and magical, albeit a bit expensive. For real Christmassy types, cost of the souvenirs and ornaments probably worth it. Didnt take the kids to see Santa, but the line was pretty long, though looked manageable. Parking and access was easy enough, tree prices seemed reasonable ($36 for a 6 Doug fir), and still tons of selection with pretty good quality trees. And the kid in the doughnut shack looked like hed been in customer service for years, very friendly, helpful, and efficient - cheers dude.
Very friendly and helpful staff in location stuffed with any ornaments that youve ever imagined. And then some. Beautiful trees, fresh wreathes - all Beautiful and now be come cheap. Ive been visiting this location for about 40 years.
This driver went out of his way to make things right.
Always a great place to visit. Staff friendly and cheer full and ready to help. And while ur there either waiting after u cut ur tree, or before make sure to visit the Santas workshop. For your fudge and decorations needs
If you want to get in the Christmas spirit, this is the place to go! They have an excellent gift shop, 2 stories so full of christmas items. There is a tree farm there, too. Fun place!
If you love Christmas, this place is a must go! Room after room of all things Christmas, with many displays of different villages, styles, colors, you name it! Right now, they also have Halloween and its 35% off. Ill be back!
Very fun - full of Christmas and holiday decorations! The staff was very helpful and in the Oregon rain downpour, it was a great place to be!
This is a place worth seeing.
Been going here for years with the family and love it. They cut, shake, bundle and tie your tree down. Tons of ornaments to buy, free hot chocolate and Santa!
My partner & I ventured down to Sleighbells a few months ago. We both love Christmas and enjoy collecting vintage ornaments.Pro: The store is a total mind-blowing experience. Its beautiful, quirky and sprawling. It feels as if you are in Santas workshop (as cheesy as that may sound). They sell the largest variety of Shiny Brite merchandise that we have ever seen. Just so, so many beautiful high-quality items. We also found the pricing to be very fair.Con: What we were not expecting was strange (almost bordering on rude) customer service. We are super friendly/respectful people. We dont think twice about being gay or a bi-racial couple (we live in Portland, no one cares!). But when we entered the store, it was very clear that some of the staff had issue with us.Being quietly followed around the store as if we were going to steal something was pretty awful. And having staff whispering back-and-forth to each other while watching us was definitely not cool.Nonetheless, we tried to be forgiving & chalk it up to maybe the staff were having a bad day & it wasnt us. But when we took our ornaments up to pay, it was made very clear.Prior to us, a sweet older caucasian couple bought an ornament & the staff were chatty/jovial and accommodating. They wrapped the ornament up very thoroughly & thanked them for coming in. Next it was our turn to pay & when we approached the cashier (upstairs w/ two other employees), it was like the air got sucked out of the room...Again, weird glares, whispering back-and-forth, and once we paid -- they were not going to wrap up our very delicate ornaments. I politely asked if we could get them wrapped up in tissue paper, and was met with, We dont have any more paper to wrap it up. -- I kindly asked her to find paper, and she did so dramatically to let us know she was inconvenienced.Needless to say, LOVED their merchandise, disliked their staff (that day). I dont take it too personally, I just think its bad business. I was ready to drop a lot of money & it definitely hindered my purchases.
So many trees prefect place all varieties
Expensive trees and gift shop. Santa was cool. But not spending $80.00 for a 7 tree.
Such a kewl little gift shop and beautiful tree farm! Worth checking out!
Fun little place of you want to cut your own tree. Lots of Xmas stuff to buy.
Great festive store. Love it we go every year! Oh and has yummy fudge!!!🎃🎄🎃🎄
Our favorite family Christmas tradition is going to see Santa and getting our Christmas tree.
Great tree selection, live Christmas band/choir and tons of ornament selections.
Fun place, especially with kids. Great customer service.
Picked out a 7 Douglas Fir that will be cut down and loaded onto my car on a date I picked. Totally worth the $58!
Beautiful trees and scenery, free hot chocolate and cider, and the store is an iconic place for those that love Christmas! A must see!
Our family has been coming here since our daughters were babies and now we come with our granddaughter. This is a great holiday tradition with a wonderful atmosphere!
A wonderful way to get in the Christmas spirit and best selection of quality holiday decor and collectibles!
No one offered to help us and the prices were laughable. Are they serious.
Small trees over priced. People very nice.
Absolute BEST Santa in the greater Portland area.
Seemed kind of sparse. Maybe it was because we went so close to Christmas, but my relatives who came here every year told me they used to have a lot more Christmas merchandise.
A wonderful Christmas shopping experience.
Extremely overpriced gift shop items. The same Chinese made ornaments you see at department stores and what not, only priced insanely high.
Everything youd ever want in one shop
Debbies fudge is the best!
One of my favorite places
Excellent Santa.
Always liked coming here as a kid
Love this olace
Always fun and pretty!
Went on a week day, no Santa!
Epic Christmas stuff.
Very good
