Super nice and quick front headlight bulb replacement. Didn’t even have time to finish my “free” hot chocolate. Wait time can be 1-2 hrsBut they do offer ride if live/work within 5 mi.

Im not impressed that I go in for a recall and they do an inspection. The inspection says I need new rear rotors and brakes for $600. I was there for an oil change a month and a half ago and no indication that anything was  even getting bad. Now its critical? Oh come on, this is just not ok. Im extremely disappointed and wont be going back unless absolutely necessary. uoUPDATE:Received a call back and got a lot of defensiveness, standing behind the technicians. The point of writing a review is to make things better for everyone. I felt like the call back was to make me feel better, not to enhance protocol and procedures nor to educate drivers about their car and necessary maintenance. My brakes supposedly have 3 mm of surface left, which doesnt warrant new rotors. The breaks are not making any noise. We chose a Subaru because we feel like its an ethical company. So please hold true to the standards we expect as well- researched consumers.

This is now the second time I’ve bought a car from this Subaru dealership in 2 years. I decided to upgrade to a larger car, the Ascent, even though I loved my Forester. I just needed something a little bigger. I requested Larry for my second car because of the wonderful experience I had with him in the previous year. I’ve always been comfortable there, and everyone is very welcoming and friendly. I highly recommend. John took care of my paperwork this year, and he was great, too.

My wife and I bought a new Ascent from the dealership the other day. We are very pleased this far (we cant speak to the service center or cars reliability yet) and they seemed to treat us very good. The deal was essentially at MSRP and the financing through Subaru was very good. The sales staff was very helpful - no scummy sales tactics - they just wanted to make sure we got the car we wanted and took time to explain the various features. This is our first Subaru, but based on our experience with the sale - we are optimistic about our future interactions with the dealership.

Do not go there. 3rd time there, brand new car and terrible service each time. Today a general oil change and checking the lights inside the car took 4 hours. The tech Paulina texted me the car was about ready that she would come inside once she has the keys. I had walked out after 2 hours waiting, so replied to her text saying I would inform her once Im back in the waiting area ( since I was told she would come in to get me). Once in the waiting area it took 40 minutes to recieve a response back. Once I did recieve a response I was told I was supposed to go out to the service area to ask for help to recieve my keys, therefore it was my fault I was left waiting.Terrible communication. AvoidLast time I went I needed a loaner car. Right during covid I was giving a car so dirty it had gum. Chewed gum. On the seats in the back. Completely not cleaned, I was also harassed about a ticket the car recieved. 1) I never recieved a ticket 2) I was being harassed about the wrong car. Sufficient to say I hope other subaru are not like this

You can really tell they care about customers, I felt like I was an equal here and appreciated the straightforward professional approach and low pressure (despite a car shortage!) vs other locations! I had Omar A. helping me through the steps of reserving my Crosstrek, and he was awesome, kept me notified up until it arrived, made sure I knew everything I needed about the car before I left the lot. Price was fair but the service was poor. I waited 4 hours for the paperwork to be processed and a drink or snack would have made the experience better. I think I had low blood sugar after the long, boring wait. When it was my turn to review paperwork it felt like I was bulldozed through the process and after waiting so long it set me on edge. The whole conversation is recorded and everything is signed on paper and electronically. I felt like the dealership does a great job of protecting themselves and it left me feeling very vulnerable as I am not an attorney. I bought a car at Carmaxx and remember the fun and big bow they put on car for a photo op. No such celebration at McGrath. Just here are the keys.

Came here to check out the new Outback model. Herbert Mejia was our salesperson and was extremely helpful in all of our questions. Test drove the vehicle and was impressed on all levels. What I enjoyed the most was the way the salesperson helped not pushy like other dealerships we visited that day. If your in the market for a Subaru this is the place to go. We could of easily went to another dealership but was told by friends this is a great place. They did not lie. Planning on purchasing one of these beautiful SUVs . By the way we drove 15 miles and it was worth it .

It has been years since we bought a car...and the previous experience at another dealership was less than desirable. We actually did not go back to that dealership due to how uncomfortable we felt with the experience (and the product). McGrath Evanston Subaru, and in particular Omar our sales person and David Newman our closing agent, were wonderful to work with. They were working on Labor Day and could have been distraught about that fact in itself, but were actually very pleasant. We brought a 10 month old baby with us to the dealership to do it all: test drive, ask questions, discuss purchasing options about new vs used, etc. Omar and David were not flustered at all and gave us so much patience. Omar preempted our questions and needs which really helped. They provided espressos and waters too :). We left without ANY thought that they were hiding something about the transaction or the vehicle (we choose a used Ascent with a extended 100k bumper to bumper warranty). No regret or buyers remorse...which should always be the case. I genuinely look forward to seeing Omar and David again when we go back for our first free maintenance. Thank you for helping this tired new dad on Labor Day. I am very grateful.

My cars gas lever broke so I wasnt able to open my gas tank. The Subaru dealership Im Chicago was on strike at the moment so they couldnt take my car. They told me to call 2 other dealerships to see if they could fix my car. I called Evanston and explained the problem and that I only had 1/2 a tank left of gas. They got me im a few days later. When I got there they initially told me that the part wouldnt arrive till Monday and this was Friday. There were no loaner cars available . I was panicked because I would have run out of gas. I called a few other dealerships and they also had no loaners available or the part available. The manager on duty must have seen how panicked I was because they called another dealership who had the part and was able to send it over. In all it took 5 or 6 hours for them to get the part and fix my car but I am so grateful they were able to accommodate me. I dont know what I would have done as I would not have made it on a less than 1/4 tank of gas.

I just bought a crosstrek at McGrath Evanston Subaru and I am so happy! Jimmy is one of the nicest, most knowledgeable sales people I have ever met. He makes you feel at ease and helps you every step of the way. I started to search for a new car over the summer and I had a really negative experience at a Honda dealership so I was scared to keep looking. Jimmy helped change all of that when I walked into McGrath. I am so happy I joined the Subaru club and I will tell everyone I meet to go to Jimmy because he is the BEST. They were professional, helpful, swift and extremely helpful in a first time car purchase. I felt like I could trust them and they were supportive throughout. This was my first time buying a car without someone with me and I was nervous that I would get pushed around, but I never felt pressured by Herbie! He was very personable and knowledgeable. I ended up going for a new crosstrek and it was worth the wait. Herbie kept me updated on its arrival. When I arrived to pick it up he even gave me pears from his yard. Despite a power outage due to construction down the road the the team did their best to get me out with my new car ASAP and make sure I was informed about the car, its warranty, McGraths extended warranty, etc. I believe Curt was who worked with me on the finance side of things. I would definitely recommend McGrath and would certainly purchase a car from them again - though with a Subaru that hopefully wont need to be for quite some time. (:

I bought a Subaru Crosstrek, and they had 2 of the color I wanted, and several of the Sports editions to choose from. Came here for my second takata airbag recall fix and was very pleased. A 5-6 hour job was finished in less than four, on one of their busier days. Just bought a new forester here last week and overall am very happy with the experience! Ken Zeller was the sales consultant I worked with and he did a great job from the first test drive all the way through to signing on the dotted line - was very professional and exceptionally patient and spent a lot of time answering all of my questions before and after the purchase. Have also been in to the service department to put on some extra equipment and the guys there were likewise knowledgeable and patient with all my questions. I had awesome experience with everyone at the dealership - starting with Jeff Goldman (Internet Sales Manager) who provided a great e-price for the vehicle and honored the price with no added line-items or fees when I reached the dealership. Ken Zeller, the sales consultant, was awesome and created a low-pressure, environment to finish the purchase. He moved us through the paperwork fast (even while multi-tasking with another customer) and even gave us a 5-minute demo/run-down of car functionality and settings post purchase (something Ive never experienced with any other car sales person). Took it in for a oil change. After about an hour the older guy from the service center comes in with my cabin air filter all filled with leaves. Says its 70 bucks for a new one. Tell him next time. So instead of dumping the leaves they cram them all back in there and all over my passenger side floor. They clean up nothing and did not was the out side. Very unprofessional will never come back here. Grand subaru is much friendlier.

I had a great experience working with Herbie and John to purchase, and finance, my new Forester.I walked into Evanston Subaru at lunch time on Saturday after determining that my current car was not worth repairing. Herbie had us sit in a couple of vehicles, and gave us some informational pamphlets, and a fidget spinner for our son. We had an appointment to go to so we were unable to take a test drive then.Later that afternoon I returned to do a test drive. (I appreciated that Evanston Subaru took social distancing seriously and did not accompany me on my test drive.) I quickly determined that the Forester was the way to go.I wanted a specific color, but Evanston Subaru didn’t have that color in stock. Herbie went the extra mile to get me the color I wanted from another dealer and I was able to drive my new car home for dinner on Monday.John in business office who did the paperwork and helped me get my financing and made buying a new car a less stressful experience.Both Herbie and John are friendly and great to work with. This is my first Subaru, but all of my friends in the Chicago area say that Evanston Subaru is where you should go for your Subaru.

Bought my 2015 Subaru when McGrath Subaru was Paddor Evanston Subaru. When it was sold to McGrath I was very concerned the quality of the service would be gone. But, fortunately from what I can see, I am still very happy with the excellent care I receive when I come for service. My warranty is over, and I was so worried I would get gouged with high prices for maintenance of my car. So far I have been pleased with the competitive pricing from when I use to go to my neighborhood mechanic. Thank you to all the kind McGrath workers who do an excellent job taking care of my car. I like the Express Service for quick routine maintenance like oil changes and tire rotation. I dont have to worry about making appointments. I can come when its convenient for me. I just bought a used 2015 VW Jetta here. The sales consultant assisting me was Ken Zeller.Generally it was a very pleasant experience. Ken seemed very laid back and relaxed during my whole visit. I could look at several cars and test drive them without any issues. If I didnt like a car I drove Ken looked for another one and never tried to convince me to give the car another thought.Not once did I feel pressured to buy a car here. Something I dealt with in the past at other dealerships. I could have left that day without buying a car and the whole process would still have been pleasant.After deciding for a car all added fees and taxes were exactly what I expected so no hidden surprises there.What really tainted the experience for me though is that Ken completely failed to inform me that the car I bought had only 1 key fob. I think it should be safe to assume that if you buy a car it should come with 2. And the customer should be informed if this is not the case.Ken didnt inform me at all. And we even talked about key fobs and how expensive they are.When I was leaving, happy with my new car Ken gave me the key fob and helped 2 customers who just entered the dealership. Confused I followed him and asked about the second key fob. Thats when he told me that there is only one.I already stretched my budget a little to buy the car. And another key fob will set me back another $200-300. Unless I want to take a risk and pay even more if my only key fob stops working or gets lost.I still recommend Evanston Subaru and will most likely come back here for my next car. But I would really appreciate if such a pricey detail like a missing key fob would me mentioned on time.Edit: I forgot to mention that they also gave me a 3 month warranty on the drivetrain if my car for free which I really appreciate. Still i would have preferred a second key fob.

I purchased my car here in June and to be honest Ive NOT been impressed with them. I brought my car into the dealership to check out a mark in the paint. Im not a car expert and given the car is new I wanted a professional to look at it. They were busy in the Services department and I waited patiently. A few minutes later a Services rep came by and asked why I was there. I explained that I had purchased my Subaru from them in June and had a spot on my paint where I think tar or something had hit it. I had tried to clean it myself but was afraid Id ruin the paint if I scrubbed. Without even looking at it, the Services guy says they are not a body / detail shop and says he cannot help me. I tell him I purchased the car there and would appreciate a recommendation of a place to go ... considering they are apparently a friendly dealership ... and the man said he had zero recommendations and told me to GOOGLE IT. So, here I am writing my review on Google. They seemed weirdly surprised and unprepared for this question and slightly annoyed. All I wanted was for someone to look at it and recommend a reliable place Subaru trusts if they couldnt fix it themselves. I wont be returning back to this dealership and will look elsewhere for more friendly and helpful service.

Great dealership! We were looking to lease a new Subaru Forester, they had exactly what we wanted and their finance department worked with us to get the monthly payment down to an amount we could afford. Plus, the quality of the car, and of the safety features, is absolutely amazing. Highly recommend the dealer, as well as the Subaru. Fantastic quality and safety for the money.

She took care of me and my car incredibly well, she was realistic about my financial situation, and was an absolute pleasure to work with. The service I have received in the five years I have owned our 2015 Subaru has been excellent. Your service staff communicates well and is polite. They have fit me in on short notice when needed and always offer me a ride home and a pickup when the service is complete, when necessary. They are honest, explain the work to be done and review what was done when the work is completed. I would give them 5 stars plus!

Contacted them about a specific used car. Hows 5? Yeah, well have it out for you right when you arrive. We get there and didnt see it right outside and walk in and mention that we were looking for Jeff.OK, right this way.We sit down and are immediately told to wait because he needs to text someone. As we explain why were there, he says, Oh, you know thats flagged in our system because it looks like someones either in thr midst of putting a deposit on it or possibly financing it....werent we supposed to be coming out to look at it at 5?Car wasnt even in the front. He had someone bring it around. Its kinda dusty inside.Either way, it didnt even end up being what we wanted so we got up and left and he mentions, Oh, so you were working with Jeff? Wait, this whole time this wasnt even Jeff? Who were we brought over to talk to from reception?Used car dealers are the worst.

Rob Paddor is absolutely the most honest, humble, and friendly individual you will ever meet. Mr Paddor hooked me up with an awesome used 2006 impreza(outback sport) and a phenomenal price. I wasnt really actively looking, but this gem came up-- 1 owner, 27k miles!! Car is almost perfect and barely broken in. Rob is a true professional...and you will find no one more supportive of military/veterans!! Price and condition were unbelievable. This will be a great car for the snow of Albany NY. Thanks to the entire staff at Evanston Subaru of Skokie. My salesman Mr. Gaines was very pleasant, thorough, knowledgeable, and perhaps most importantly patient. Negotiations were very transparent and fair. This was the first time I’d bought a car in 20 yrs. So all of the new technology was foreign to say the least. He spent time explaining everything. I fee like I got a very fair price and the overall experience was very positive!

My mom and I were shopping around for a Subaru Forester for my mom and went to two other dealerships before going to Evanston Subaru. We worked with Omar to look at used Foresters and then eventually decided on new. My mom was looking for a specific color which made the search a little harder but Omar was very patient and made sure we got exactly what we wanted. He made sure we always had the information we needed, explained the different features of the trim levels, and answered our many questions with ease. The whole experience from the first test drive all the way to the financing was easy and hassle-free.Thank you!

None of the other dealers in the area could get the car we wanted and Herbie also gave us the best price as well. If I’m ever on the market for a Subaru again I’ll definitely call Herbie!

This is the worst service department I’ve dealt with, including third party shops. I had a check engine on so I dropped my car off there. Within 30min I get a text from the service tech (Jon Tan) and he tells me that I need a new transmission and it’s going to cost $7900+. My Subaru is a 2014 with almost 120,000 miles on it. He tells me the transmission fluid is burnt to the point they won’t swap it for fear that it would “shock the system” and fry the transmission right away.I ask what my options are, he tells me that’s my only option. I told him I had a lifetime power train warranty that’s supposed to be good at any Subaru dealership nations wide. He tells me they don’t accept there (100% lie confirmed by his service manager). He tells me I have to go back to the dealership I purchased the vehicle from (another lie confirmed by his boss and another dealership). I said ok and drove my car (with absolutely no problems) 1.5 hrs north to Subaru city in Milwaukee, after paying the absurdly overpriced diagnostic fee of $160 (the highest diagnostic fee around, the dealership I took it too later was $90 diagnostic).When I arrive, their service techs ask me why I drove all the way up here from Chicago and told them what the other dealership said and they told me they’re not allowed to refuse my warranty. After they spend almost 2 days inspecting my car, they tell me that the transmission isn’t blown and that is was a valve body on the transmission that’s $1,300 (not a new transmission for $7900+). They also covered it under my warranty so it cost me $100 of a deductible, not $7900+ with no alternatives. I asked them to change my transmission fluid and they did with no problem. I asked them if the transmission fluid was “really burnt”, they said it was a little dark but “really burnt” or black.At this point I call McGrath Subaru and tell them their diagnostic was wrong and I would like my $160 back after providing them the other dealership’s repair Bill contrasted against their quote of $7900+. They agree and tell me to bring in the documents. I bring the documents in and when I do I ask to speak with the service manager. I’m told he’s no there because it was Saturday but that he would be in Monday and that he would contact me about my refund.Monday comes, no contact from them. I wait a few more days and call them. They send me to their service manager’s voicemail (Adam I think?). I leave a message and wait a few days. This turns into 3 weeks of me calling them every other day to talk to a service manager. I start asking for any manager and got sent to all of their voicemails with no response. I finally force a tech into grabbing their manager and getting them on the phone with me.He goes through this entire speech of how “he had 2 techs working on it and that’s why they could diagnose it in 30min”. He then tells me that they knew they could have replaced the valve body for $1300 but didn’t tell me because it might have only given me “a couple thousand miles before the transmission would go”. He shoots down every question I have after that with “my service tech doesn’t have access to all the information I have.” He then denies my refund. I ask him why wasn’t I even told about the $1300 option and he says “we went with the best solution which would be a new transmission.” He then blames the “tech not having access to info” again and again. I asked why it took him 3 weeks to get back to me to deny my refund and why he ignored close to 10 voicemails and messages from me over 3 weeks. He kind of apologized and then says “if you come back to us, let me know and I’ll try and hook you up next time.”I tried to talk to a general manager over the 3 weeks they ignored me and was told several times that they were on vacation til may! (It was February). This store is so poorly managed I would never go back. I don’t care about the money at this point. They wasted 3 weeks of my time while telling me they were going to give me a refund, stringing me along.They’re probably okay at oil changes but I would never let them repair.

The customer service at Evanston Subaru is amazing. I was heading out of town for a trip and had my vehicle checked out prior to trip. There was a wait time of a few hours and one of the staff drive me home. The woman who checked me in was super nice and informative. I was running late to pick up my car and one of the mechanic’s stayed past his shift and waited for me to pickup my car. I highly recommended Subaru of Evanston.
