First of all this was a really Highly Recommended restaurant/take out spot by my cousin whose the DJ and knows the owner. Let me start off by saying it was nothing special. The food is mediocre. When I order for the first time at a new restaurant I have never been to, I always go with Vegetarian dishes. My wife and I ordered the Saag Paneer and Dal Tadka with 2 lachha paratha and 2 Garlic Naan, also left the restaurant a note to make it spicy. Picked up the food came home. when I opened the brown paper bag we got like 2 small plastic containers. The food is mediocre once again and the quantity of the food does not match what they Charge . Also the naan and the paratha were extremely small from other places around Somerset/Franklin area. I mean if you want mediocre food and you want to be Over charged for a small portion Pooja is the place to go. If not I would recommend Punjabi Rasoi on Rt. 27 or Spice Rack. Dont waste your time here.

Visited this exotic place changed their ambience with a new management and chef recently. Piping hot dishes - all fresh and yummy. Buffet lunch was loaded with 15 items from starters to dessert. Some of the dishes were unique and flavorful. If you work or live around Somerset- this place is a must visit!!

Me and my family were really excited to try this place. We had heard the owner used to be at Desi Food Galaxy (awesome food!). Arrived yesterday with my family. Worst service and food weve ever tasted at an Indian restaurant. They didnt serve us until we called someone. Drinks came in between the starters. Server didnt have a tray so she was carrying the drinks one by one. Meat was undercooked and underseasoned. Thought the main course would be better (it wasnt). Ordered daal, saag paneer, lamb, chicken and raita. Nothing was good!All in all, money wasted. Spent around $200 for all of the family. Money better spent somewhere else.Restaurant needs a better chef and better servers.

I Just got food to go from there today for the first time. The staff was very kind and welcoming and the food is out of this world . Absolutely amazing I highly recommend.

I have been to a handful of Indian restaurants across Eastern PA and New Jersey, and I have been consistently disappointed with many of them. Either the food was not of the best quality, the prices were unreasonable, and/or the portions were too small.Pooja was not any of that, far from it. Food was very good, like it was homemade, and they were of very good portions for a reasonable price. For one takeout order, say Chicken Makhni or Goat Curry, it can feed two people or last two days for only about $12-14, $6-7/meal. Add a naan or two and it would be, if I remember correctly, about $8-10 per meal. To put it into comparison, Chick-fil-a (a decent fast food chain) charges $7 for a Classic Chicken Sandwich meal in PA/NJ, and this Indian restaurant offers a very good meal that is not simply a standard burger and fries.The only concern would be the cups for takeout. I ordered a Chai, which was good, but the cup lacked a holder meaning that it was very hot to the hand and the top made it difficult to drink from. Bar that, my experience was perfect.Although my distance means that I could only visit once a year at best, this is a place I highly recommend to anyone in the area. The people there clearly put a lot of heart into the restaurant, and they care about the quality of the food. 5/5

I have eaten at many Indian restaurants over the years. The Chicken Tikka at Pooja in Somerset was hands down the best, most tender and flavorful I have ever tasted. The manager and staff were very friendly and generous with the sauces upon request. Keep up the good work, Pooja!

Great lunch buffet at great price. Good selection of food. I like their vegetarian items and deserts more. They also have tasty appetizers. I have not tried their dinner or weekend buffet. Weekday lunch was only $10. They are in a huge strip mall. Finding it could be tricky for first timers.

I love this spot! They offer delicious dishes, their menu is rich, The chief cook in that restaurant is very trained, I enjoy very much tasting all their food. The dishes are consistently of high class, the attitude towards the visitors is nice. I go often to this restaurant and I not even once was unsatisfied. I recommend it to all.

EXCELLENT FOOD, very nice staff.Ive been to this Easton Ave. location many times over the past couple years. I have always felt the food was very good and I loved the lunch and dinner buffet options. At some point, I believe earlier in 2019, there was a management change. With that came a new interior paint job, some wonderful chandeliers over each booth and some new decorations which have all elevated the place a bit. All good choices. Plus, their food is EVEN BETTER than it was before! The thin crispy chip-like appetizer with 3 sauces (green spicy sauce, a plum sauce and pickled onions) you get for free with a dinner meal is amazing!! And the items I like best and order every time are to die for. The only thing that has changed for the worst that Ive noticed is they seem to have done away with the dinner buffet. The lunch buffet is still there.I certainly hope if you enjoy Indian food that you try this place, especially if you visited in 2018 or earlier because everything is better now. If youre not sure what you like then utilize the lunch buffet. Theres a pretty good selection of things to try including desserts (sweets).

I hate to give any bad reviews but this is so far the worst restaurant I had been, in my entire tenure in NJ. Chicken was so uncooked, you had blood still visible, whats more shocking was that no one actually responded to this. It was around 9.30 we were the last customer, the moment the previous customer left the lights (except the one above our table), music and the AC was turned off. I am surprised to see high rating for this restaurant, hopefully this happened just to me.

Today ( Christmas Day), i visited this place with my family. We enjoyed the foods. I really recommend this place. Lot of options. Its worth the price.

We have been dining at Pooja since we moved to Somerset in 1984. Every time we see a new Indian restaurant, we try it out, and every time we agree that Pooja is better. The food is always excellent, and you can order the spice level that is best for you. They have a very good and reasonably priced lunch buffet daily. The decor is refreshed periodically, so it is always welcoming. Very highly recommended for those who enjoy Indian cuisine.

I walked in, not knowing exactly what I wanted and was greeted with kind helpful service. I placed my order and it was ready in 10 minutes! I got home and everything was hot and delicious! I had to call to say BRAVO!!! Spicy curry chicken, vegetable samosas and garlic bread are excellent! So glad I found this place! Definitely will return

The weekday buffet price was good,around 10 $. The taste is completely North Indian. If you are a South Indian food lover, then a strong no to this place. Overall the taste was not that great and at the same time not bad. Hence 3 stars. But definitely thumbs up for the price and the varieties of buffet

We really loved the food and staff were courteous. Esp the owner was willing to help us. On the cost side yes its decent for a small buffet. If you are willing to just taste Indian food you can visit once. I liked the dessert and I wish I would have biryani and soup in there. Try once.

I was pleasantly surprised to find Pooja. At first I was a little skeptical about the lunch buffet but Ive grown to really like it! For $10 you get a good selection of food. I forget the name of the specific food item but its usually in the corner next to the red chicken; there is a vegetarian dish that literally tastes like buffalo chicken strips but its actually cauliflower I think. The garlic naan is also excellent. For me, the staff are always very pleasant, and there is an older gentlemen (Which I think is the manager) is always walking around and making sure your taken care of. Overall I recommend you try this place out because for $10 I would say its very good!

We have carry out several times a month. Always delicious. Our household has picky eaters but we always find something that everyone loves. As I write this my daughter is writing the list for my birthday supper. Can’t wait to enjoy.

Definitely not like it used to be. They seem to push the buffet more than meals. The buffet has very few dishes with meat and since it wasnt that busy there is very little food in the buffet and it is not fresh and hot. The service is always good however sometimes a waiter does not understand English. But theyre always giving new plates and filling your water and it is BYOB

Nice place for a sit down lunch or dinner or takeout. I havent ordered the food to be delivered from there so I havent experienced that yet. Tip: if you are ordering online, use the ordering system on their website, or Uber Eats or Doordash or just call them. If you are not using any of the methods mentioned, then there is a possible chance that they didnt receive your order. Speaking from personal experience when I ordered for takeout, learned that for future orders. Hope you all like it.

Best Indian restaurant in town without any doubt. Their menu has so much variety that the first timer will get lost. The food has typical Indian flavor and they have a very cordial staff.

Twice I have hired catering service from Pooja Pooja Exotic Indian Cuisine. Once for our anniversary and once for our son’s graduation. Both times the food was perfect and all the guests appreciated it. The best part is they have a budget catering package.

We used them to cater our party last year and the food was great!Ive had both the buffet and the sit down dinner...and both were equally impressive- although the buffet obviously a better value for your money. The thali special is HUGE!! Its also very delicious! You will gain a few pounds with that one! :) The owner is Punjabi and very friendly and accommodating. We plan to use them for an in-house party this year. The decor is updated and modern and most importantly the place is CLEAN. Weve been to a lot of Indian restaurants where the dishes were dirty or there was something other thing...not the case with Pooja. The prices you cant beat for what he offers. My only complaint is the location in that strip mall...it would certainly be better more centrally located or in a stand alone restaurant cause the parking is less. We highly recommend Pooja for both catering and as a great place to go eat with your friends and family!

Tasty and authentic food with good decor, friendly waiters, and reasonable price. We had never tasted such good lentil soup. Also, complimentary welcome papads are unique for an indian restaurant.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Valentines day buffet. The staff was helpful and kind. The food was fresh and delicious. I really enjoyed the samosas Chaat, chicken Tikka masala, tandoori chicken and garlic naan. Its very generous that mango lassi is included in the buffet. They even let my baby girl take home one of the Valentines day balloons.

My first time there I placed an online order which did not go through correctly. But, hey, things happen and I didnt mind waiting the 15 minutes or so them to cook it. They were so apologetic and accommodating that I actually felt badly for putting them out. Thats a sign that youre dealing with good people - not just good business people.If what Ive said hasnt convinced you, Ill state it plainly: I highly recommend Pooja to anyone looking for a delicious and filling meal. Im not Indian, and have no frame of reference, but Id like to think that if I were this would be how my grandmother would make it.

The restaurant has very ordinary ambience and over all look and feel is made indian. I dont like big canvas oil paintings hanging over you when you eating. For the food I can say that even frozen tastes better .

Food was ok although there were VERY limited items in the buffet menu, but the staff was simply non-sense!! The dinner buffet time was until 9 pm, I got there at 8:25 pm. At 8:43 pm while I was in the mid of taking the main dish in my table, he came and asked me to take whatever dessert I need to take- I should take as he will remove that. So unprofessional and lack of courtesy!!!Would NEVER recommend anyone.

I have frequented a lot of Indian restaurants in the area. Poojas food is exceptionally delicious and the service is really representative of the warm hospitality of India.Good value for the money too. I am definitely going there again - this time with my two adult children!
