This particular Safeway is not the closest to my home, but I prefer it to the nearer one. Why? 1: clean. There are folks going around actively sanitizing and dusting all the time. 2: Efficient. Although large, it is well laid out for efficiency. Very well stocked, so you dont need to stop somewhere else to get that odd item.

Better than most, its about what you would expect and a little bit more.

Wasnt very well stocked today, lots of empty shelves. The bakery had only 2 sugar free options and they looked like they had been in fridge a long time. Aptos Safeway has a better selection with a smaller bakery.

This store is huge! What an amazing selection of everything you need, for a great an affordable price.So many options for dietary restrictions - you can find excellent alternatives to dairy, gluten and vegan preferences. I was shocked at how many types of cauliflower and cassava root chips they have available for healthier snacking options.Excellent variety of meat raised with no antibodies. You can find a hundred types of eggs, if you prefer cage-free, vegetarian fed, or if you don’t give a damn about where your eggs come from. There are so many choices.Large in-house bakery and bulk food section. They also have an in-house pharmacy.Easy to see from the street.

Safeway on 41st in Soquel is the best. I recently moved back to Santa Cruz and wasnt sure where to find my favorite items. We tried a couple of different stores but none had everything that I needed until Safeway! Got all that I needed so thank you Safeway.

List on google and their own website that they close at 1AM. Went at 12:20 and the doors on both sides of the store were locked. I can understand google having a error but the company website should have the correct hours.

Every staff member was nice especially in floral Dept! But the seafood Dept dude? Rough social skills he actually guessed the price instead of checking the price like I asked him too.

Very clean and organized thanks to a great overnight crew who make the store look very nice. Cashiers are super cordial and nice my only gripe being that they arent open later or 24 hours like they used to because I work nights and have to rush to get there in time.

I grew up with Safeway, a nostalgic feeling draws me there and they have always been there. Why just ok.. Keep in mind this my opinion, its hard to not be reminded of the income inequality gap, one bag of groceries with a couple of your basic items is always $100 or more .. I like it . Try and hit it . Saturday morning . About 10:00am . In and out . Service is taking a hit . Like everyone else . But . It was good .

The calamari special roll is delicious. The place is spacious and no wait time helps.

This is a very good safeway as far as Safeways go. Its big and they have everything. They also have a bakery with fresh donuts and other stuff and in the corner they have a section where they put the day old bread and cakes which are often sold just on the expiration date and still very good at half price. They also have a gas station with good gas prices so overall its a darn good Safeway.

I have always enjoyed a clean, friendly and easily accessible store. This Safeway meets all those requirements. Not to forget they are close to plenty of other great shops in an awesome location.

The employees here range very widely from genuinely helpful to accusatory and profiling. If you shop here in less than perfect clothing after about 6pm, expect to be followed and possibly harassed by a couple specific employees here. Aside from the extremely rude responses you can expect from these few bad apples, this store is clean, well maintained, and generally polite. The sushi chef here is the best one at any Safeway in this county!!! Apologies to Safeway for the low rating, but those rude employees are simply not acceptable.

The options here are better than most Safeway, but the deli leaves much to be desired most days with the speed of preparation, it was ridiculously slow to get a breakfast burrito. But the sushi selection next to the deli was delicious and the gentleman preparing it knows what hes doing and does it well and is very polite. That has me returning to this location everytime.

Some of the layout doesnt make sense. Frozen items in one aisle & 2 aisles over yogurt, cheese etc. covering one side of that aisle. Instead if having all dairy products in the same area. They didnt have enough checkers

I want to compliment and thank the produce department based on the incredible quality. For example, over the last couple months I have been getting perfect bags of grapes that are crisp and sweet without a single bad grape in the bag. It is kind of astonishing to me.... not a single bad grape in months now. Great job girls and guys!

This is an EXCELLENT Safeway. Far better than the ones on Mission St, the Aptos store and the one on Morrisey.This 41st Ave location is bigger, cleaner and far better organized and stocked than the other 3 mentioned. Their employees are even quite a bit nicer as well.I actually come from the West Side of Santa Cruz to use this Safeway as its the best in the county.

Good selection of different fruits, name brand and store brand items. The Deli also has a good selection of meats, sweets, and breads. Self checkout and register check out availability.

Good luck planning any meals... no chicken of any kind... no dried split peas... not heavy cream... no broccoli (except for some pre-bagged)... hardly any celery... Plenty of soda and junk food! The stuff that we dont need to eat. I only shop here to get the gas rewards.

A pretty great safeway. Other then some lack of labeling issues this safeway is on point. They keep the lines moving. The pharmacy is very helpful. This store is good about rarely running out of anything in my experience.

Decent selection and variety mostly friendly staff but their loss prevention and secret shopping staff have a tendency to be a little over zealous and judgemental of peoples appearance and assume everyone is s thief........ A little annoying but ya just learn to deal with it. Other than that great place to shop.

My favorite Safeway in the Santa Cruz area. It has ample, convenient parking, is always well organized and clean, has helpful and courteous employees, a huge selection of groceries including a substantial amount to meet the needs of my vegetarian daughter, a great produce selection complete with an abundant organic selection, and a complete pharmacy which offers flu shots. The bathrooms are also always very clean, which I mention because of the correlation that any Santa Cruzian will immediately understand - this Safeway is largely free of the homeless infestation. I dont mean to take pot-shots at the homeless but the LAST thing I want to see at a grocery store is that someone has shaved in the bathroom. Or worse yet, left drug paraphernalia laying about the bathroom. I do NOT want to have to concern myself with whether or not either of my kids will stumble upon a used needle if they have to go potty while were shopping. I GREATLY appreciate how this Safeway has seemed to of managed to keep the homeless away.Last but not least, this Safeway employees a number of our community who are mentally disabled/differently abled (I apologize if I did not use the politically correct phrasing there). I believe it says a lot about a company that works so hard to help our most vulnerable and needy populations.Thank you, Safeway! You are deeply appreciated.

First or Second best Safeway in santa cruz. Only strike against them and every Safeway for that matter is that their bathrooms are disgusting and the door locks never work at the 41st store.

Safeway is a Wonderfully clean and beautiful store. The selves are always stocked and have a great variety of cans and light packages. Lots of fruits and vegetables. Both dairy and fruit juices nicely bottled. Very helpful store service people. A treat to visit when home supplies are low. No need to go anywhere else. I am a happy customer. Thank you. Safeway.

As with every business in Soquel, workers and shoppers are very nice and courteous. This particular Safeway is clean and well maintained but I do feel that the product options are limited relative to other Safeways in the Bay area. Not as many organic and keto options and sale items were already out of stock. Something to be aware of if you plan to do a big shopping trip.

Always clean. Good stock. Quick check outs. But people, please have patience with each other. No need to get aggressive if some is 51/2 feet instead of 6 feet.

Safeway always has been a consistent market. They seem to adapt their market to the community around it. This remodel here on 41st Ave was a good one. Improved in areas I didnt notice were lagging. Some Safeway remodels have noticeable more narrow isles in order to put more in same space. Good lighting is key some of Safeways newer schemes is saving money through lighting. Darkness promotes suspicion, what are they hiding kinda vibe. The west side MEGA Safeway, a map or a guide. Dont get me started. Groceries are always good. Products are great. Service varies person to person in most things. 4🌟

This Safeway is much better than the one in Aptos. Its a nice big store. Store employees seem alright so far.The parking lot can be dangerous for pedestrians and your vehicle. Too many impatient drivers in that lot.

Great prices and sales, however one should check their receipt to ensure they receive their discount. But when there is an issue with price inaccuracies when brought to their attention, they quickly resolve.

Lots of stock but they reorganized the shelves recently and It was a bit confusing, but the workers were able to help.

First of all, Id just like to say that ALL employees working during this pandemic are going above and beyond just by being there.But today Id like to acknowledge the excellent customer service of a particular employee. I regret not having caught his name. Hes of short stature and probably aged 40-50 years of age. He was doing cleanup work in the cold beverage aisle at around 11:30 am today (April 29, 2020). He helped me find lip balm. He was incredibly kind, conscientious and had the warmest, sweetest demeanor. I hope management of this store sees this and passes on my deepest gratitude. Outstanding professionalism!
