Beautiful drive up though the redwood forest getting to Out of the Woods Mill. Seeing all the amazing logs and boards once you arrive makes for a great end to an amazing journey.

Ed provided this beautifully rough sawn Monterey Pine for some rustic beams on a kitchen remodel. He took his dull blade to the customers special request and we were able to achieve the desired distressed look that we were going for. Thanks Ed, youre the man!

I made a pretty large purchase recently from Out Of The Woods. I ordered some older 2X6 material that they had listed in a business association that we both belong to. It was pretty nice stuff. Not quite as new as what you see in the photos they have listed, but it was some pretty nice stuff. I also ordered some 6X6X12, 2X2X12 and some 1X6X6.I sent my father (retired truck driver and equipment operator) from Sonoma County to pick it up and bring it to me up in Mount Shasta. When he arrived, the material that they loaded was not really as described. Some of it was really nice. Some of it was okay. Some of it was totally unusable and should not have been with the good wood. 2 of the 6X6 was bug damaged. Almost all of the 2X2 was full of knots and fell apart while handling it. And, I will be for sure short of what I needed after I cut all of the knots out. In addition, the 2X2 was not 2X2. Some of it was but most of it was not. They were all different sizes. Now I will have to re-mill it myself. Why should I have to order 2X2 to have to cut it myself to 2X2? Now the 1X6. There was some that was good. There were a few pieces that were great! But, a lot of it was very old and had clearly been laying around in the yard for awhile. I pulled out some pieces that were checked all the way down and were completely unusable. I pulled out others that had bugs in it. I could go on but I am tired of typing about this. I am frustrated and disappointed after spending almost 30K on material that I am now going to have to work on myself, toss some out and also go out and find someone else to re-create the same size material to match what I now have. I just purchased a bunch of work and I am not happy about it. I tried to work this out with them but I didnt seem to be getting anywhere. If you buy from them, you better go and hand pick each and every piece yourself! Dont trust them to load the quality stuff. It wont happen! Frustrating and expensive. Lesson learned. I wont forget this.

Ed and his crew did a great job resawing some reclaimed 4x beams to be used to wrap new false beams in a remodel in Santa Cruz.I would definitely use Out of The Woods again.
