The best specialty cheese shop in Vermont, and thats saying a lot. The selection is legendary, as are the prices. I know very little about cheese, as a beginner, but to their credit, their friendly, knowledgeable staffers helped me pick out exactly what I was looking for, which made for a huge hit at dinner with friends and family.

We stumbled on this store on a vacation trip to VT. It is a store of amazing deals. They have many discounted products. They have a large selection of Vermont Cheeses and a whole basement of wine. I went in to look and spent about $100 and could have spent way more. The cool thing about this store is that the inventory changes often. Really nice place to visit.

This is the one place I absolutely have to go when I cross the lake to Burlington. I just love finding new treasures every time. I’ve learned to test stuff in my car and when something is particularly tasty I go back in and stock up! I would tell you my favorite cheese but then you all would buy it out on me!

Love this place. Have been coming for several years. You never know what you might find. We particularly enjoy the packaged snacks and nuts.

I was very impressed with this place. They had such a huge selection of fine cheeses! They also had a good selection of hard to find candies. Downstairs was an overabundance of fine and beautiful wines and heavy beers. The staff was very knowledgeable and happy to help! I found that the deli case was very clean and well-stocked. This will definitely become a favorite place to stop whenever Im in the area. Even though some of the items were expensive, the items were completely worth it. There is plenty of parking and also handicap parking. The parking lot was plowed and kept clean.

Staff is AlWAYS helpful and pleasant. I love being able to try the special purchases of health(ier) snack foods that appear. At bargain prices I am willing to try. The zoins section is great for stocking up on pantry goods!

Wow! So much more than wine and cheese. Great selection plus a lot of international and unique goodies. I came home with new persecco to try, spices, and campers. Will go back for bulk almond flour and cheese.

I always make sure to go to cheese traders whenever I drop my husband off at the Burlington airport. They have an excellent selection of cheeses at great prices, and the cheese mongers are always happy to give you advice. I love all the specialty brands they have on the shelves, and all the spices and rubs that are already made up. I have not bought wine here, but I see that they also have an excellent selection down in the basement which I will have to check out someday.

Ive been going to Cheese and Wine Traders before it has wine in its name! When my kids who are now in their 20s were little, I remember getting all kinds of cool healthy items that meant we could have nice treats well within our family budget. I remember back in the late 90s for months, I was able to get these amazing close-out organic fruit juice sweetened brownies that the whole family enjoyed. I love the place for its quirky yet spot on offerings, for its special deals, for its mission to sell great tasting gourmet and unusual products at reasonable prices. And I love the tastes of delicious cheese they offer in non-covid times. I live about an hour away but try to stop in and show every time I come to Burlington. Cheese Traders is one of my favorite places!

Great gift baskets! I live in Holland but send all my USA friends and family these great baskets still . I loved living in Vermont and I worked at cheese traders 19 years ago! The owner taught me so much about wine (which I still use today) and they treated the staff so great! I’ve been sending their baskets for years. Hugely recommend! Get beer as an add on in the basket it’s worth it :)

AMAZING GIFT BASKETS! I never write reviews, but my experience here was so good, I feel the need to do so. I ordered a gift basket for my wifes birthday, who was visiting a friend in Burlington, and it was an all-around wonderful experience. Nick, Rose and the team provided excellent and fast customer service. I was able to customize the gift basket with my wifes favorite items and flavors, and she absolutely loved it... not to mention it was HALF the price for a similar sized basket + shipping from a large/national food and beverage gift delivery company, and the items were all local, quality goods that made it more special. The ordering process online was super user friendly and fast, and the Cheese & Wine Traders team had it ready in less than 2 hours, with text alerts to boot! I dont think I could have been more impressed. Thanks guys!

One of the best little gems in Burlington. Kind of hidden between other buildings, you have to look hard for their sign, but it is worth it. They specialize in European, organic and natural items- and the prices are LOW, because of overstock, dates coming up soon and the like. It is a small place, but stocked well without being messy.They have all sorts of bulk items; rice flour, grains, dried fruits and all sorts of goodies. As you come in, there is a rack with deals of the day. There are many types of cheese, with baskets filled with Cabot ends for greatly reduced prices- my favourite? The 5 year old Cabot cheddar- I grate and put on chips for amazing nachos- nothing else needed, the flavour is so good.There is a cooler, where you can buy yoghurts and milk- and other dairy products. Also, a great natural health and beauty section with huge discounts. I have bought rescue remedy for $6.99 !!There is a Vermont area for tourists to sample local wares.Downstairs, is an entire level of wines, meads, hard ciders and specialty brews and beers. It can be a bit overwhelming, as it takes a while to walk through- but, there is always something lovely to find and take home.The clerks are lovely and helpful, and even carry your purchases to your car, if needed.I never leave empty handed!!!Truly worth making this a destination when you are in Burlington.

There’s some great deals here but it’s the staff who make this shop. Normally we go for the small bits of left over cheeses because theres so many verities and we are not as knowledgeable for a full chunk of cheese commitment. We ask one of the associates for help (I wish we caught his name) he gave us some suggestions and they were amazing. One was one that was a little iffy for us but it was our favorite. If you have any questions or are a little overwhelmed by the selection like we were please ask for help they will not stir you wrong.

My parents rave about this place and love when they have their big sales. My boyfriend and I are new to wine vocabulary and tasting so I wanted some help. I signed up for the monthly membership which I’m so excited for-amazing benefits-it’s a no brainer! Richard was friendly, personable, passionate and very knowledgeable. He worked within my budget and was like a personal concierge, bringing me through their store and hand picking wines for us. I highly recommend!

Very cute place with unique food and happy employees who are very happy to help. The reason I rate it 3/5 is because they ramp up some of the prices pretty aggressive. You can find a 3$ product from another store in there for 7$ sometimes maybe its not much for some but it adds up.

Outstanding cheese and wine shop with a load of other specialty items. Its a cross among a fine cheese shop, wine and beer store, along with a World Market.

Hard to find culinary and dietary items available, a tremendous selection of cheeses and wines, along with hard to find craft beers!

The cheese scraps are my favorite part. I enjoy the clearance deals because you never know what you will get. Its worth just popping in for a quick look. Also, get yourself some gummies because theyre also very excellent!

First time being here and Ive lived in this state the majority of my life. They have everything youd expect from the name of the store; and more! Organic snacks, hot sauces, local beers and meads, wine from all over the globe, even CBD infused beer! My favorite, however, is they sell Ibirico Ham. If any foodies are reading this, theyll understand this place is worth the time to visit.

Very good cheese always have samples and cheaper options. Also locally owned cheeses and goodies are sold there. Never disappointed when I go always leave with a full bag for under 50$ which is nice if you are on a budget. They also sell healthy snack options there like nuts and dried fruit. They also have a large amount of gluten free foods and even dairy free!

This is a great place with very good variety. I dont really care for the set up. The cheese isle is closed in tightly by other product so browsing while busy in the store is a bit intense and frustrating at times. They do have a large selection of cheese, chips, and accoutrements though. Walk downstairs and check out the well stocked and thought out wine selection. Theres a selection of beer and cider as well for you non wine drinkers.

They have around 100 types.They have a ton of made in Vermont products. If you want to make a Vermont gift basket this is the place to go. If I could live here, I would.

This place has (as far as I know) the largest selection of cheese, wine, and hot sauce in the Burlington metro area. In addition to a limited selection of basic groceries, they also carry dried fruits, nuts, and some specialty & ethnic foods. I go there specifically for regional Spanish wines, of which there is a good selection (>40) at good prices. The wine specialists will try to accommodate specific requests. Plenty of parking. Wheelchair accessible. Friendly & courteous staff.

Always a good priced gem at this eclectic store. Food rarely has actually gone bad and by selling close or past code dates items for a discounted price, they help save a lot of food from thrown outnwhile making it a great deal for their customers. Friendly staff who are always happy to help and always a wide variety of new items to see every week along with the same weekly products.

I’m sad to say I’ve only recently experienced this unique shop after hearing about it from friends for years.I can’t speak to the wine selection downstairs, but there’s always something interesting upstairs, be it the bulk items up front, the local cheeses and meats, the Cabot cheese seconds, the discount overstock juice and sparkling drinks. I’ve even purchased cotton candy and a locally made granite cheeseboard.

So helpful. My wife was in charge of hosting a wine tasting. We know next to nothing about wine so we went here. Not only does this place have a great selection. Everything is labelled and there are people that actually want to help out. We got everything we needed in less than 15 minutes and the wine tasting was a huge success. If you need help picking out wines for people that know wines. Go here, you will learn something!!

It was MY first time stopping here (My boyfriend loves this place). Interesting flavors, purchased some cobsmoked aged-cheddar, summer sausage, and some cob smoked chicken and garlic sausages... Would have liked to pickup a few other items but the prices are way out of our budget.

This is a regular stop for us to get our organic and no junk ingredients foods. Fancy chips for as low as a dollar a bag. Non-dairy yogurts for amazing prices. Hit or miss deals, but usually its a big hit.

One of those magical places that has some stuff that is the absolute best of the best (some of their cheese and wine is very high quality) while also having super discounted items at the same time (think dented cans of beans for 20 cents, or a bag of chips thats a weird flavor for 3 for a dollar). Really something for everyone, and some many unique things that you find anywhere else

I love this store. You have to be a savvy shopper, some things are priced above the prices you can get at a regular grocer, but when there are deals, man those deals are amazing. Its not just wine and cheese, its overstocked items and out of date things that are still fine. You will find products here not even available in local stores. From regional product tests and the like. Its an adventure for people who like to try new and different products.

I’m happy to of found this place since moving from N.Y.C. They really have a nice selection of wine downstairs, I was able to get myself three bottles for a reasonable price. I love this store! Its the kind of place where I wander the aisles looking at everything on the shelves because they change their frequently and you never know what cool thing youre going to find. They also have four or five different cheeses out for sampling everyday, ridiculously low prices on a wide range of mostly organic products including Fresh Dairy and eggs, and a mind-boggling craft beer and wine selection downstairs

Love this place. I always leave with more things than I planned, but usually spending a lot less too! This is a great spot for finding tasty meats and cheeses for your next dinner party, but the real goldmine is in the random snacks you can find. There are some incredible low prices here on yummy natural foods and goodies. Just make sure you check the expiration dates. With crackers and chips Ive found no problem with some products that are even 6+ months expired, but some other items like soups and cottage cheese... thats a different story ;)

Very helpful and friendly staff. Answered all of our questions. They even have free samples daily with specials to go with it. If I lived closer it would be my goto cheese and wine store. Great deals and great food.

I follow them on Facebook and come prepared to get a deal and try some cheese and wine/beer on Fridays (so why come any other day?) The deals are usually very close to expiration, so be awesome and go through lots of cheese so thats not a problem. Sometimes theyve been sub-par, but I get enough deals to make up for the occasional duds. The weekly deals also encourage me to try way more varieties than I normally would.June sees some really big store wide sales. I can buy my whole summers supply of wine at it and encourage you to do that same.Chips are frequently on sale and there are many other items besides cheese and wine as well. Always a fun beer I havent tried yet. Limitless wines sorted by region, and Cabot cheese blocks of unusual shapes and sizes at discount continually.

Amazing. We went for the first time during their Anniversary Sale and the deals and selection are incredible! Very attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable staff. You must not miss the opportunity to visit. Wine clubs, tastings on the regular, free samples...come on! I hope youre driving there right now.

This is a great shop to get different types of food. They have a pretty good selection and can find good gift giving items there, especially if you are in a pinch. Usually go in for one or two things and come out with ten.

Would have given 5 stars but I was browsing wine and the guy only approached the other woman asking her if she needed help. Just because Im young doesnt mean that I dont want recommendations too. After he helped her he disappeared to go up to the main level and stocked some things. Never asked me if I needed help, disappointed on customer service.
