Universal Carpet was the best call I made. From the moment Larry walked into my home I knew this process would go great. He really knows his stuff & everything was so quick. The day of install they tore out and replaced all 5 rooms in just one day. Thank you Universal Carpet, I love it!

We replaced carpet in 2 bedrooms, a hallway and stairs. From start to finish Universal Carpet was easy to work with, helpful and professional. Cary and Dawn in the office were very nice to deal with. The installers were professional, clean and the carpet looks great. We would recommend this company and will use them in the future. Local family owned business over a big box store is always the way to go.

They were very easy to work with from start to finish. Installers were very friendly and were constantly asking questions if they had a design issue. I plan on remodeling my basement and will be using them for sure for the flooring.

The installation crew was extremely unprofessional, especially Brett!Carpet installation, 4/22 & 4/23 (Sergio and Efron):- Did not wear Covid face masks (one of the guys kept on sneezing!)- Extremely loud! Constant shouting back & forth the entire duration of the job. One of the guys was singing to himself while working. They took phone calls on speakerphone, this was disruptive.- Messy! Their tools were all over the house on multiple floors while I was working from home!- They both wore the same shoes they used to walk outside on the new carpet (no booties).- They put their jackets on my couch, I don’t feel it’s appropriate to put dusty work jackets on a customer’s couch.- One of the guys left a banana peel on my kitchen counter, there is a garbage can about 4 feet away from that counter.- They scratched the pole in my basement after it had been newly painted, I asked him about it & he said there’s no way to avoid it.- Everything was unnecessarily slammed around & roughly handled, whether it was putting something on the floor, opening a door, or climbing up & down the stairs.- The waste basket in my bedrooms was placed on top of my bed so that they could reach the electrical outlet, this was very upsetting as I am sure nobody wants a waste basket on the bed where they sleep!- After they left, I found a staple and screw on the floor – luckily, nobody stepped on them with their bare feet!Tile & vinyl installation, 5/6 and 5/7 (Brett):I thought the carpet install was a one-off situation & hoped for the best with my tile install. He was quieter than the last set of installers and I appreciated that. However, I was even more disappointed than ever!- Again, no face masks worn during Covid- I asked Brett if they could take off their shoes and he refused- He didnt bring the materials needed for the job with him (tile, vinyl, threshold/trim/baseboards) so he had to drive back to the shop to get them- They weren’t even aware that they needed to provide & install trim - there is a clear breakdown of communication with the back office & installation crew- Refused to put tarp down on the carpet since they are walking on it with their “outside” shoes on (the ground was wet outside from having rained); finally put down a 5-6 ft sized drop cloth that covered only about 1/8 of the flooring. I ended up taking bedsheets and laying them over the carpet where I could to prevent them from getting dirty.- Brett kept explaining how wearing booties is dangerous and could cause slipping. I insisted that I was okay with no booties, as long as the carpet is covered up, but he kept going back to the booties topic. The area where he was installing tile is TINY and surrounded by 2.5 walls so there’s really only one way you could walk on tile and that’s backwards (away from it).- I heard Brett tell the other guy This is so convoluted. I have to walk past you to get in and out and youre working on the entryway.... I offered for Brett to use the garage door entrance so that he wouldnt have to step over the other guys area, but he turned down my offer.- The owner came to check how things were going, which was really nice but I was put in a difficult position because Brett was there and could hear anything I said about him so I felt uncomfortable giving feedback about him to the owner.- When the owner left, Brett said to me “See? You made my boss come out here!”, I said “I hope I didn’t get you in trouble”, to which he answered “Oh, I won’t get in trouble, I’m their best installer”.- Some of the tiles were broken and Brett did not inform me.- After they finished, I found a nail on the carpet in the basement- No clean up done, I vacuumed myself. I think this was retaliation for me complaining.- They used the bathroom downstairs without asking permission and left the toilet seat up.I was offered a $92 discount by the owner for all this trouble. Out of a total bill of $4292, that was a slap in the face! I would rather pay more for better customer service.

We had our entire second floor re-carpeted by Universal Carpet, Inc. From start to finish - the whole experience was outstanding. The salesman Mike Larsen was flexible with our in home consultation (we normally arent home till after 6 PM) and was extremely patient, thorough, and transparent with all our questions and the measurement of our space. He wasnt pushy, and always followed up with any of our questions promptly. He made it a point to make sure we were taken care of every step of the process, and even stopped by during the installation to answer any new questions. Once we decided to move forward - Dawn Chana made scheduling the installation and financing a breeze. Edwin and his team were top notch. They were prompt, professional, and polite. Edwin was sure to verify the material against my invoice with me prior to any work being completed. The attention to detail is what really stands out. Any existing squeaks in the floor were corrected, the seams were completely unnoticeable, and the edges were clean and tight. All without leaving a single scratch on any surface. All in all, the entire process from the consultation to installation beyond exceeded our expectations. They make other big outfits (Empire, Luna, etc) look like an absolute joke. If you want great customer service, great craftsmanship, and an overall great product - dont skip out on these guys. We couldnt be happier with our new carpeting!

I would definitely recommend scheduling time to review your flooring needs through Universal. We were very pleased with the service, floors, and the installation!SELECTION - We had a great experience selecting vinyl flooring (that looked like wood) and carpet for our home. When we met with the sales staff (Larry) he took time to educate us on the features and considerations for the products we were considering. He shared what to consider based upon having pets, children, heavy traffic, etc. Larry provided us the opportunity to take some floor samples home to look at them in different rooms and under different lighting conditions. That was really helpful. Ultimately we changed our minds after viewing our selections in those different settings. Larry came to our home to measure for the flooring. He was thorough and talked through the flooring needs, areas of concern, considerations for molding/trim. He diagrammed the entire space and provided us a very detailed quote. Larry was responsive when we had additional questions and made himself available in person and via text. It was very helpful.ORDERING/SCHEDULING - Larry passed the ordering information on to Dawn who took over as our primary contact. She ensured the order for flooring was placed and she kept us informed of back orders and scheduling needs. Our vinyl flooring was back-ordered due to COVID, but Dawn gave us updates and kept us informed. She scheduled delivery and installation dates based upon the expected arrival of the materials so we could get it installed as quickly as possible and minimize waiting.INSTALLATION - We had two primary installers working on our 1350 square foot installation. They were scheduled to work for 4 days but got the work done in 3 days. It was a pleasant outcome. The installers were timely, hard-working, and they really kept the area clean. Every day they swept up the work areas and kept everything very tidy. They were also very courteous and focused on their work. The installation was well-done. It was meticulous and really looked amazing.

Larry at Universal was amazing. He came out and measured for free, made sure to note a few items about the product and install. We had looked at another company for flooring and they charged us for measuring and were very non-responsive. Im so glad we called Universal. The ordering went smooth, and the install even better. The guys came when they said and left our house spotless. I love the product and quality. Id recommend Universal hands down!

We moved into a new house and wanted all the carpet replaced. We called out a couple different carpet companies to give us a quote. Not only was Universal Carpet the best price but Mike was very honest with us on the different types of carpet and what type of carpet would work best with our needs. 2 weeks later we had the carpet installed in 2 days. It looks absolutely perfect and we are seeing why Mike recommended the carpet that we got because we already found a couple stains and it came right out!

I never write reviews on anything but I feel I needed to share my experience with Universal Carpet.My wife and I shopped all the big box stores for new vinyl plank flooring and found just about the same products everywhere. Prices were all about the same and the products were not substantial at most.I shared my experience with a close friend and he referred me to Universal Carpet. I called and set up an appointment with Mike Larsen. He came by our house and looked over our situation and brought some sample pieces by. We talked for a while and he invited my wife and I to look at samples at his office. My wife is a picky shopper and with Mikes input and suggestions we decided on a COREtec product to install. The cost was a bit higher than big box, but not much more at all. Mike explained that he could sell us a big box item but he didnt think we would be happy.Mike was not pushy at all throughout the sale process and kept us updated on delivery date and time. We received the product and had it installed this week and we are overly pleased with the outcome!!My wife and I give two thumbs up to Universal Carpet and our rep. Mike Larsen.

I was referred to Universal by a friend/co worker, because he was so impressed and satisfied with their company. Larry came and provided an estimate. He was pleasant, knowledgeable and nice to work with. The install team was professional and did a great job. I would recommend choosing Larry and this company. Also, they were competitive in pricing. I got other estimates but went with Universal because they offered a better quality carpet pad.

After much online research, we chose Universal Carpet to install our entire upstairs, living room, and dining room carpet. Just had carpeting installed in 3 bedrooms. Mike the salesman was prompt for our appointment and brought all the necessary samples for us to make the right choice. We were looking for a good local family business instead of a big box store because we wanted a company that had their own installers. We went to store and decided on the flooring/ carpeting we needed and talked to the salesman there at the time, Mike Larsen. He set up appt and came out within a few days and measured and set up everything we needed to get things done and figured out the costs. We had a ceramic floor in kitchen and an old pergo floor in family room and they were able to go over both floors with a beautiful luxury vinyl plank flooring. They put in all new baseboard and had 4 workers who completed the whole job in 2 days. We love it. It looks great without the 2 different floors. And the carpeting for the living/dining room is really nice too. The guys did a great job and cleaned everything up before they left.

Top notch from start to finish. I initially was going to go with Home Depot but decided to get and estimate last Minute from this place and I’m glad I did. Much more personable experience and they beat Home Depot’s price. Plus the quality of installation can’t be beat. Highly recommend.

If I could leave a 0 star rating I would. I signed a contract with Larry their salesman on 9-27-19 and in less than a few hours of the salesman leaving he called me back to tell me they messed up on the original signed contract and wanted more money. The original price I was given was higher than any other company I was given quotes from, but I felt comfortable as I told Larry while signing the contract I was motivated by their high ratings and reviews on google. I was however mislead by this company’s reviews on google being so highly rated. The salesman Larry called me and said straight off the bat before a word was spoken on my end, “you’re gonna hate me and I’ll rip your check up, because you’re gonna hate me, if you want me to rip your check up, and I don’t blame you if you think I “cheated” you, but we have to charge you over $1000.00 more than what we already agreed to and signed too”. Things did not seem right at this point.The carpet I ordered was Mohawks Distinct flair, color 512 Ophelia. The room sizes were- a living room 16x19ft and a small dining room 13x11ft. The carpet was for these two rooms only. They originally signed the contract and agreed to $2300 which included the padding, install, and removal of original carpet. But than Larry stated they wanted to change the bill to $3500 over the phone. I told Larry I would think this over and call him back before giving him an answer as to whether he could rip my check up or I would agree to this new charge. Before I had time to do this, Larry emailed me and texted me. Which he said in both he would gladly come down to $3000 because again he knows it looks like he “cheated” me. But this new price still changed my bill $700 more than we already agreed on and signed a contract for. It didn’t sit right with me and only left me wondering what really is going on? I have all this documented not only by the original contact but Larry also wrote me an email with a new contract and asking in email, “if you want me to rip your check up, I will, otherwise sign this new contract with increased charges up to $3500 giving me a discount of $500 but still charging me $700 higher than what we already agreed upon.I was feeling very uneasy, so I decided to call the store to hopefully speak with a General Manger or possibly the owner. I called the store, and got the receptionist and asked who the general manager was, the receptionist became rude immediately when I asked this simple question, and said, “who are you and what do you want?” To which I replied, “I’m just looking to know who the GM is or if you’re privately owned- who the owner is?” She started to get more rude and than stated, “I’ll just transfer you”. When she transferred me, the next caller answered, he stated his name was Gary but refused to state his position in the company when I politely asked if he was the GM or the owner. He became irate with me and said, “I don’t need to tell you who I am OR who the owner was” Gary than asked me who i was and what I wanted?” I was shocked, It’s a simple question but replied, “I was a consumer and wanted to discuss a matter with the GM or possible owner”.. and in all honesty all I wanted to do was understand better from the top of who manages this company how they can sign a contact with me and then within hours demand over $1000 more? I never even got anywhere with Gary as he HUNG UP on me telling me he doesn’t have to tell me who the owner or GM is. I did explain I was a consumer and he didn’t care.. He literally hung up?! This has all left a bad taste in my mouth and I highly doubt the validity of the reviews left on google. I also called 4 other carpet companies who ALL bid the job well UNDER $2000.00. I will be doing business elsewhere. I highly DON’T recommend this business. I can’t even guarantee they will rip my check up so I was forced to contact my bank and pay $30 to stop payment on the check.

Had Universal redo almost all of the flooring in our townhouse (washroom tile, downstairs carpet, and upstairs wood floors). We also had them replace all of the floorboards.They were very accommodating and easy to work with. The contractors they used did a great job. They even recommended changes to our plans that resulted in a better result than we had hoped for.There were a couple of touchups they had to do after the work was complete, but they had no problem doing them.

Unexpectedly we needed our basement carpeted ASAP before my MIL moved in with us. I contacted Universal Carpet and couldn’t of been happier with our entire experience! They returned my inquiry within the hour, came out the next day with samples, and installed our carpet the following morning. The entire process was seamless, affordable, and our carpet looks excellent! Cary, Dawn, and the installers were all very professional and friendly. We will definitely use them for all our flooring needs moving forward. Highly recommend!!

Cary came out and gave us pricing on all the areas we were considering replacing the 20 year old flooring. He gave us quotes for different materials and was patient while we tried different samples to help us make a decision. His installers, Jake & Josh worked great together and did a wonderful job. We love our new carpet and Luxury Vinyl floors. They carpeted our family room, dining room, living room, main stairwell and hallway - and they installed Luxury Vinyl planks on the rest of the main floor. They even moved all the furniture for us and were very careful with it! When we are ready to carpet the rest of the upstairs, we will be calling Universal Carpet back to do the job!

Cary and Larry were both very helpful in deciding on the type of carpet to install. The whole process went very smoothly, with no delays. Jake and Josh, where on time and did a great job installing the new carpet and kept the seams to a minimum, ( a little difficult in my upstairs with the way its laid out ). They also did a great job cleaning up after themselves. My wife and I are very happy with everything. I would surely recommend Cary and his team to any friends in the future.

We just had universal carpet install vinyl wood plank flooring in our kitchen and it turned out fantastic. I cant recommend Universal Carpet highly enough. I almost made the mistake of having carpet installed by one of the big box stores, but after reading reviews online I decided to go with a local company - UNIVERSAL. We are incredibly happy with our carpeting and the installation was absolutely top notch. GO WITH UNIVERSAL.

We recently had Universal Carpet replace all the tile in our bathroom including the shower, tub and floor tile and we are really pleased with the result. Our bathroom looks beautiful! Our whole experience was very easy and pleasant starting with Cary who helped us make the tile selection to the tear out and then installation of the new shower, floor and tub surround. The best part was the total price was a lot lower than we anticipated! We are planning to do our kitchen floor next and we will definitely be using Universal Carpet!

Larry was very helpful in helping us find the right tile for our master bath. Joe the install guy did a great job making sure everything was nice a clean while working in a small space quickly. Price was right and the customer service was what made us choose this company. Highly recommend, and I will be using them again for any flooring need.

We had to match a new room carpet to an existing carpet in an adjacent room. Unreversal Carpet found us a match. They communicated well. The installers did a great job and cleaned up very well.. If you want good service, fair prices, and some very nice people to work with you cant go wrong with Universal Carpet.

Universal Carpet is not for businesses. They may be able to handle small rooms, but do not rely on this company to do anything more than one room. The disorganization and poor salemen make it a hirable choice for any company looking to install more than one small room. Do not use this company they cannot be trusted to install more than one room. If you need installers call Home Depot they are better than Universal Carpet!!
