New professional and friendly staff member. Arnell made me feel like I was a value customer. I was driving from Colorado to return my uhaul. I was in and out in less than ten minutes.

Best place in the south lake tahoe area to rent storage or a truck. The manager, Thomas was alway helpful with his service and had a great attitude even when they are busy. He works hard and has the best sense of humor that make my experiences going in wonderful. Thomas cared about us and makes our experience less stressful with our move. We could not have done it without him.

Would give 0 stars if I could. Rude staff, arrive 15 before minutes before they close to rent a motorcycle trailer and fed some BS about they dont rent after 20 minutes before closing.Take your business to Minden or Carson Ciry store where they are much more polite and actually care about you.

I see a lot of recent negative comments on this location, and I am not sure anything I say here will sway your decision to rent a uHaul. You either need the truck or you dont need it. BUT:1) I rented a uHaul truck 3 days ago. They said IF They dont have my equipment, they would call me in advance. I acknowledged this on the website.2) Since no one had called me, I called them. As some have pointed out, near impossible to get through here, but called national dispatch who confirmed that our truck was available here at this location.3) The twist: There was no truck here. So obviously, my frustration came through, especially since I called ahead. My response: As a customer - you are uHaul to me especially since both gentlemen had owners badges on them.4) Making a long story short, I hear what many of you are saying about the level of customer service, especially since they are the only game in town, I WILL ACKNOWLEDGE MR. VOIGT who went out of his way to make good on the fact that I was in a bind and offered me a larger moving truck at a reduced rate.... so THANK YOU!!

Called ahead to check availability, arrived more than ten minutes before scheduled close, man inside would not help me, not offer any help as to who could. Dont bother them, thats clear.

Had an apt for a tow hitch install which I was told would take 2 hours. I came back in 2 hours and they had not even started, so I was forced to wait outside on a freezing cold day until my car was finished. Would have been great if they had communicated the delay in advance so I could have made other plans.

No star....They made me drive from South Lake Tahoe to Reno for a big van. 14 footer. Then i drove from reno to Carson city to pick up the car tralier. I had to drive back to reno to pick up my vehicle that i drove there in. convertable porsche. I had to put the porsche on the tralier in reno then drive to south lake 3pm drive porsche off tralier. Un hitch tralier. Then load then moving van i rented, Reserved 2 weeks in advance. Three 14 foot trucks on parking lot.Guy with uhual shirt says they all reserved.They made me call a number 1 800 to relocate a 14 foot truck on mybown while the guy with uhal shirt smokes cigarettes at door.I have since rented from Ryder, great rental clean easy. Homedepot super cheep less hassle. Enterpirse they had lots of moving blankets. I spent $1400 on the rental . Two days late on moving schedule.**** Uhaul, the Dennys of rental truck garbagePassanger front tire wabbleing the whole way misaligned.

Great service but impossible to call this location directly. Was on hold twice so I had to just come in. Once here they helped me with all my needs.

Russell Cooper is slow and completely incompetent. He was the worst customer service provider I’ve ever dealt with in my life. I will never spend another dollar here. Worst uhaul location on earth. Stay away!!!!!

The owner/manager is a COMPLETE lunatic!! He almost assaulted my husband and flat out refused to fill up our propane. Rude right off the bat, not exactly sure why. Now we dont know where to go for this winter. Try to avoid business here. If you do, please beware!!

If you need to know your reservation is being handled reliability and you actually NEED THE UHAUL you reserved...this isnt the place to go.We reserved a uhaul 10 days ago for 11am on 9/29/20. Two days before the reservation we needed to move it from 11am to 3pm. Wife called and spoke with a woman who said the manager was away but shed get the message to him and call back.Day of reservation still no call back so I (the husband) drove to the uhaul facility in south Lake Tahoe at 1030am to MAKE SURE they got the message to move from 11am to 3pm. I spoke to a man and he said the manager was busy but that he would get the message to him and NOT cancel.I had already checked in online, gave them pics of DL, license plate, and PAID in full. At 12:00noon I got an email saying it was cancelled!!!!!Manager said the other guy was a new employee and he never got the messages. Thats 2 messages he didnt get - this place is run by incompetents.I have choice words for these people but will save them - we went through hoops to MAKE SURE they didnt cancel....and they still did.Save yourself a lot of headaches and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

They didnt have the truck that I had reserved and failed to notify me that they changed the pickup location to Reno which is over an hour away. I had to drive 3 hours round trip on moving day while my movers and daycare waited for me to get back. For this a Uhaul representative offered me a $50 credit and explained to me that I only signed up for a preferred pickup location and that she didnt understand how Uhaul failed to meet my expectations other than not telling me the pickup location changed (as if this was not a big deal). A $50 credit is pretty useless for a company that I will NEVER use again. To be fair this isnt necessarily the fault of this location, but rather a company that just doesnt care one bit about its customers.

Thomas has excellent customer service skills. He very friendly and always makes the check out proccess so easy and helped me save $$.

Bought propane here. It is hard to find somebody to refill rather than the overpriced exchanges. Super fast, convenient, professional, clean bathroom, check you out with mobile device. In and out in less than 10 min for 2 cylinders

This U-Haul has always had very hard working employees and I never second guess giving them my business... until today, here I am getting my propane tank filled and there is a man smoking less than 10 feet from the propane tank! Just prior, the busy employee was helping customers that arrived before me, and the man who was smoking begins to bark orders at the employee. He proceeds to interrupt the busy employee for minuscule tasks, and throws his cigarette butt right outside the lobby door. The lobby reeked of cigarette smoke from him trying to speak to the employee thru the door while smoking. I was very unpleasantly surprised. I wouldn’t post this if I didn’t feel subjected to secondhand smoke and the fact that smoking near a huge propane tank is probably illegal and also jeopardizes the safety of many people. Since U-Haul is a corporation, I’m sure they want to hear this feedback. The man was older and wore a black puffy vest.Anyways, I’ll see you soon guys. Keep up the good work.

Id never used my vehicle to tow before and they knew where my light hook up was located inside the trunk and assisted me with the hook up. They were very personable and accommodating. Both check out and check in were prompt and efficient. Could not have asked for a better experience.

Great service, extremely knowledgeable personnel.I was refilling my propane tank for my camper. He checked the tank and told me it past the time and need to be certified again. Fortunately I have another tank that was exchanged not long ago and it is within the certification date. He explained to me the exchanged tank is Ok to be used for my camper application. He also let me know where I can get my tank certified.

I live in Truckee, California, approximately 45 minutes west of Reno, Nevada and an hour and 15 minutes north of South Lake Tahoe, California. When I called three Northern Nevada U-HAUL locations, one in Sparks and two in Reno, to inquire about installing a trailer hitch and wiring on my 2015 Subaru Outback, I was advised that the only electrical trailer lights plug they installed was a 4-pin flat connector. Since I have three light weight trailers, all with 1 diameter, 6-pin plugs, my strong preference was to have a compatible 6-pin receptacle installed on my Subaru. Fortunately I did not give up searching for a shop that could install a 1 diameter 6-pin receptacle. When I called the South Lake Tahoe, California U-HAUL, Russel Cooper said he could not only accommodate me, but that installing the 6-pin receptacle was less expensive and more weatherproof! Rusty made good on his word. Needless to say, any future business I do with U-HAUL will be at the South Lake Tahoe location.

Manager has very bad attitude. Gets very aggressive when he is upset. He was arguing over the phone and was very aggressive to the customer in front. His worker was the exact replica of this trash bag for a human. He got physical with me and was reported to U-Haul corporate. I left it alone. I know am being told by this stellar human to stay out of Tahoe where I live. This is what trash scum runs south lake U-Haul

These guys really care! Me and my friend had our car break down while vacationing in Tahoe. Having it fixed in Tahoe wasnt an option. So not only did these guys provide me with a towing bed and a van to pull it with (yes, 2 vehicles) but they gave us an incredible deal on the price and call their boss to get me free miles and time in case anything else came up on our way back home. We are forever grateful!

Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. A bit expensive but facility is new and well secured.

I’ve used these guys twice now. Truly the very best! Thomas was extresmily helpful to no end and to make things even better the owner of the place installed a hitch on my Porsche. No easy task. He carefully took his time and did it right. I have to say never in my life have I had two most professional men help me out! Extreamily satisfied and I recommend to all to use these guys and to make things even better, their prices were outstanding! So thank you Thomas and the Boss!!! Vince

Good experience with local office, lousy experience with regional and online services. Booking online, they kept moving my trailer location further and further away, and would tell me nothing closer was available. I called the local office, and Rusty(I think that was his name) was very helpful and got me squared away, the complete opposite as the regional people on the phone who clearly dont have a computer network to locate equipment. Lesson learned, dont waste your time using the website, just call the local office for help.

I went to this location to fill two 10 gallon propane tanks. Waited a few minutes for service. The counter man sent an Alex to help the other customer. Rusty or Russel, whichever he chooses to use, said he would help me. After a few minutes I went inside and saw he was on the phone. I went outside. Alex then started reading me the serial code saying that was the date. The serial code was full of numbers and letters. On the other side the date is clearly stamped. As I told him he said “he will get his book and show me son!” I asked” did you just call me son?” He said “no I said sir and I don’t like your attitude so go away.” I followed him inside to complain to the manager. As I followed Alex kept being smart. I told him “I wasn’t the one calling people son”. Then the manager got really aggravated and aggressive and hung up his phone. Then he started cussing and yelling. I then started videoing which sent him into a bigger tirad. He started screaming and spitting all over me. He started threatening me if I didn’t leave his store, what he would do to me. All the meantime I am just recording and saying “wow would you just look at that!” Then he got extremely infuriated and opened the door and started yelling again. Maintaining my distance I made my way to the door and he started standing over me so I stopped to record him. He then grabbed the door and tried to close it with me in the way. Not in a passive way. Two handed grip. He then forced himself in between me and the door. I filmed him forcing himself. I backed up and he started following me to my truck. I told him one more step and I will defend myself because I am feeling threatened and spit on. He then started chastising me at his back door as I was backing out. Yet again he started aggressively approaching my truck. I yet again told him I am in fear of his aggression. If he continues to stalk me down I will maintain my safety. I am 100% disabled. I will be going legally after them. The regional office of Uhaul has been contacted and his supervisor Chris has been contacted. Do not use this location until they remove both of them.

I made a reservation over a month and a half ago for a cargo trailer, I have called 3 times to see if it will be there on the date I am suppose to pick it up and they said it would be. Last minute they told me they don’t have the trailer because they rented it to someone else and I need to drive a hour and a half away (to Reno from South Lake Tahoe) to pick up the trailer and a hour and a half back to put the stuff in my storage (in South Lake Tahoe) in the cargo trailer. The Mexican guy that is supposively a manager and if he is he should be terminated because he is the rudest person I have ever dealt with in customer service was no help at all. The general manager gave me the number to call which wasn’t even the right number it was to a golf course in Reno which was no help at all. My family and I have rented plenty of moving trucks, pick up trucks and trailers from u haul and we will never be ruturning to u haul as a customer ever again because of this location and it’s rude management.

The people who work here barely care about the customers and the corporate line who answer their calls are very rude and disrespectful people. super rad guys, good job!

Closed early to avoid filling my propane tank. I called and spoke with them prior. When I rolled in, the staff ran to the door to stop me from coming inside. He then proceeded to show me his inaccurate watch and was very pleased with himself to tell me that they open at 7:00. He might as well been touching himself when he did so. They couldnt care less about their customer base. Never will I return. Now, Arhrens rentals is just the opposite.

I just went trying to rent a trailer, and the guy there told me that I had to wait 30 minutes because he was too busy (there was nobody there) then he went away leaving me alone in the desk. This is not the first time that he does the exact same thing, he is rude, and lazy. It sucks for the business owner because he is just hurting the business.

Plan on it closing early. Was turned away from the propane fill 10 minutes before closing time by Thomas saying his computers had shut down for the day. If thats the case, Id recommend that Uhaul keep their computers up until at least when the store hours are over.

Had a trailer hitch installed on my 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe from Russell at U-Hauls South Lake Tahoe Emerald Bay Road location. He went above and beyond normal customer service and I would definitely recommend using these guys for any trailer hitch install.

Went there to have propane tank filled. Busy place with many rental returns when I was there; but Customer Service person was very friendly and efficient.

Quick, convenient, reasonable prices, helpful/competent staff.

Quick drop off, wait time was maybe 10 minutes. And we were 2nd in line.

Didnt bother to advise the equipment reserved was not available. Sent me doqn the mountain with a trailer that was toi bug for my vehicle & with faulty breaks.
