If you want to buy fresh food here (meat, dairy, vegetables etc), heres a tip: DONT use curbside pickup. Ive lost count of how many times Ive ordered groceries at Target for curbside pickup, got home, took them out of the bag and discovered that the meat was spoiled, the milk was sour, the eggs were smashed, the vegetables were rotten, etc. I have brought this up with Target management many times over the past 18 months and nothing has changed.
Big improvement on interior design. The staff are good about Covid-19 safety protocols.
So kind; amazing customer service. I was annoying and they went above and beyond for me. Night crew from November 2nd definitely deserves a raise.
The worse Target I’ve ever been to. I have had nothing but great experiences in all other Targets the employees of other Targets are so helpful and friendly this one on the other hand is a nightmare. You can tell the employees clearly don’t want to be there and are very rude to the customers. If you need help finding a product you have a better chance getting back in your car and going across the street to Walmart. I had an item that I wanted to price match to the target website and the first cashier told me he couldn’t help me I would need to go to guest services the person at guest services asked why are you here and told me it looks to me like there’s a perfectly good cash register open right behind you why don’t you go use that. I don’t know maybe because the person told me to come to you. I know I’ve said it a handful of times but this time will be the last time I ever go to this Target location. It’s really not that hard to be nice to people this whole staff could use some pointers on public relations.
Extremely sloppy and messy. Looked like a hurricane swept through.
Great and fast customer service. Friendly staff, clean parking lot. This store is always busy especially with the remodel they are currently under. Even with that they still keep everything clean, tidy and are Friendly.
I love target, but they have not recovered since their remodel. The whole place is gross and unenjoyable. It’s hard to spend as much as I used to there, since nothing is where it should be. It’s like a frustrating treasure hunt. Just give up and go to Walmart.
I called them to ask if they had reuseable face masks and they said yes. Then when I went into the store to get them, the employees directed me to where all the face masks are kept except there weren’t any except for kids masks. Unfortunately I’m not kid sized. So when I went to call guest services again to notify them that they do not have any face masks, they hung up the phone on me twice, didn’t pick up the phone the third time, and the fourth time they left me on hold for 15 minutes. I never leave bad reviews because I think it’s tacky but this was so terrible I couldn’t just not notify them somehow. So here ya go. Target doesn’t keep reusable face masks at all and they never pick ip the phone.
I have always loved Target, but I find myself going less and less. It doesnt matter what day of the week I go, the shelves are always bare. Not sure who is handling the purchasing, perhaps it is an automated process. Regardless of how its being done their replenishment system is not working and it leaves the shopping experience much to be desired. (Apologies in advance for duplicate photos, not sure why it did it)
My experience shopping today was great, everyone was positive and helpful. My boyfriend and I bought a heavy desk and were struggling to get it into my car in the 90 degree weather. AJ, who at the time was taking care of carts in the parking lot, saw us struggling and immediately rushed over to help. He was extremely friendly and helpful! Thank you AJ for helping us out. The store was also extremely clean and had everything we needed! We will definitely be shopping at this Target again soon.
The employees at the service desk were happy people! Quickly picked up my package and on my way
This place is gross. Worse than Walmart. Unstocked shelves, dirty aisles, food left in inappropriate places, trash everywhere. Pay the people a living wage and maybe you’d be a nice place to shop again.
Selection is Great at this store, it has everything I need.
This is by far the worst Target I have ever been to. The place was a wreck and shelves were empty.
Love the store and cashier was very helpful she went over and beyond. Store was very clean. With the pandemic I appreciated so many people can be shopping. Line outside and it was very organized and line moved fast. Thank you.
I was completely appalled when I walked into this South Portland Target. The clothing, hangers and plastic tags on the floor not only cause a poor shopping experience. They also pose a tripping hazard. I saw many employees, at least 12, non of these people were recovering, cleaning the areas. My worst experience in a Target.
Ana! Thanks for a great interaction :D real nice people at this one!
Clean store, well organized, friendly and knowledgeable staff.
This place is the most unorganized target I’ve ever been too. It’s a total disaster
This target is never stocked and staff seems pretty miserable....must have poor management, at the regional level, I say this bc my experience is that the Walmarts (although not as fancy) are stocked waaaay better, and employees seem happier in Maine. So if you want stock shelves skip Target.
Great Prices and Service! I always enjoy my Targert shopping experience, whether it is in-store or online!
I love target and often shop at this location. They usually have good deals and its fun to shop around. The problem is, they dont make Shipt employees wear masks. Ive seen the same Shipt guy at least three times in target shopping around without a mask. I asked a manager why they allowed him in and the response was, oh, thats how he comes in. Thats it, all that was said. Glad to see they care about their other customers safety and not only the ones who delivery groceries.
Always have what I need
Had missing items that were NOT marked out of stock. Called for over an hour trying every option I could. When i finally crossed town again and drove back to target the lady at the counter said did you call and when i explained i called over the course of an hr she felt the need to say its hard to answer the phone. We are busyWhat?
One of the worst targets I have ever been to. Everything is a mess, and has been a mess every time I’ve been in. Management obviously doesn’t care. Go only if there is no where else.
Good products and clean store and good return policy.
The place is like a zoo the shelves are a mess in every section of the store people are mean and it’s nasty in there
This review is for the Starbucks located at this Target location. My drink is never made correctly and service is slow. Don’t waste your time or money at this Starbucks location.
I have always enjoyed shopping at Target. However, I would much rather drive an extra half hour to shop at another Target, than this location. The shelves are bare. When you have simple questions on merchandise no one seems to have an answer, they direct you to a person, who will than direct you to another person instead of finding out the information for you. Cashiers are always nice here, and that is their saving grace! Stockers that walk around will walk in front of you and your cart, very rarely will they ask if you need help.
The South Portland Target is the Physical Representation of a Panic Attack.
Visited on Sunday around noon, store was fairly busy, Entirely too many staff with large racks blocking isles from shoppers trying to get needed items. After the tough navigation through the store, there is a check out line wrapped passed the beauty/health section (making section unshoppable) to the grocery section. At this point I decide it is not worth purchasing the over $120 worth of items in my cart. I talk to an associate with a rack blocking an isle who offered to take my items and put them away. As I walk out past the long line, without purchasing anything, I find only 4 checkout lanes are open - including self check out- potential 26 lanes. There is a staff employee, who didnt mind the cart to cart line of people lined up into the grocery section but insisted on not letting people line up in check out line, instead she felt the need to only let one person in line at check at a time and thought that was better to have it block all the shoppers in the store at that end of the store. The Management needs to rethink their COVID restrictions- not sure how its not ok to have more than one person at check out but cause bumper to bumper lines throughout the store. Not sure why staff can block shoppers from items in isles but not help at check out. Not sure why Target thinks it ok to make spending my money at their store entirely too difficult. I will shop in the many other stores who actually want to make it easy to spend my money with them.
The employees are always kind and helpful
Store was busy. Seemed a little too crowded inside left as quick as I could.
I am beyond upset. Upset is not even the word. I am appalled at the horrible customer service of this place! I called not once, not twice, but THREE times to try to get ahold of someone to ask a simple question. Over 10 minutes of the phone just ringing and nobody answering! Back in my day businesses VALUED their customers. I will be calling corporate. Very upset.
Based on my recent experience in returning an item I bought on line and how the return was handled. I was given a store credit immediately with the suggestion to look for the item on the shelf myself. I should have been given the option to credit my credit card as I had proof of purchase within the return period. They will not reverse the transaction as it is against store policy apparently. Not correcting their mistake is terrible customer service. Lesson learned.
I had ordered an items for pickup. I live on an island and had to take a boat to pick the up. One of them I was told was not able to be filled (a vinyl album). The other one I was told was ready so I left the island and went to Target. I waited in line for over 10 minutes outside just to get in..... then I did a bit of shopping inside THEN I went to pick up my order - again I waited for over 15 minutes while a clerk went to find it. She took a very long time only to come back and say that it was not there - she was not sure why...... I not only wasted my time but it cost me money to come to the city. So, I am very upset.
Pick up is contactless and efficient. Target has the best contactless pick up I have found and I will use it more in the future.
They have a very efficient and helpful staff, thats what everyone wants this time of year!
Im 17 and I wanted to buy cards against humanity and some extra decks. They let me buy the absurd deck but not the original deck because they needed my ID.
I’ve always liked Target the quality and cleanliness of the store typically has been superior to it competitors.
I could get some merchandise that I can;t get in other parts. My family likes fish tacos and only in Target I find Talapia.Very friendly staff and great merchandise.
Customer service and lack of products in store
Super Easy curbside pickup.
The employees my are GREAT. BUT its the opposite with management. They dont know whats going on half the time so they are always on the walkie trying to figure it out. They dont stand up to district. To tell them what is needed to do better. And so the whole store is F-up. Good employees walk out due to large lots of work with no appreciation for their hard work. So they cant keep enough employees. They only care if district doesnt jump down their necks. But the performance of the store is downhill. If youre looking for a job dont look here.
Extremely friendly service even w social distancing
Yes it was crowded, but the associates working today were very helpful and polite. And although the checkout line ran the length of the store, there were enough associates to keep everyone moving and it only took us 5 minutes to check out. There was even an associate handing out candy to kids waiting in line.Clearly, this store is well managed and has a great group of employees!
I was in the self service line and had a product without a barcode. An employee immediately stepped in to help me and was able to fix the issue himself without needing to call others in to help. Quick and easy.
Great fast and friendly service not to mention convenient so thank you to all employees at target for excellent customer service
Don’t bother getting a job at target. Especially in retail aka style. They don’t care about you, your health and if you have children, there health. All they care about is you going to work. They mess up your schedule, they don’t let you take days off you need, and they schedule for times that you aren’t supposed to work after. They will yell at you for doing something the wrong way when NO ONE was trained in style. They just Throw u in. Save yourself from this depression.
Close, well priced, always clean and kind
Easy and great service.
Super efficient and I love almost everything target sells I was so pleased with my online order and pick up the next day. Target rocks at everything. Thanks Target for making my life easier.
I was having an issue with my target app. Courtney was very patient and helpful in making sure I was able to use it for my coupons. The store itself is organized and well stocked.
The selection and the quality
I moved to Portland from central NY about 2 months ago. Since this is a long, mostly negative review, Ill start out with the positive: the people! The only reason I gave a second star to my review is because every time I have a question or cant find something, theres always a friendly employee to help me. They really go out of their way to be as helpful as possible, and I truly appreciate them in a store this poorly organized/stocked/managed.I thought the experience I had on my first visit was just a fluke but its consistent. Every time I go there (every couple weeks) it looks like there was a back-to-school run on the store (one other reviewer said it looked like a tornado--accurate!). Theyre seemingly out of everything Ive come there for, none of the items are in the right places, many prices arent even listed on the shelves. It is so incredibly frustrating to shop here, and its so unlike every other experience Ive had at any other Target store. I keep going back because 1) Im so familiar with the layout of these stores that it eases the shopping trip and 2) Ive deluded myself into thinking that maybe itll be different next time. But it never is!
It has everything you need at great prices. The South Portland store is great. Easy to get to, very clean, super personable staff, and easy to navigate. The app is wonderful!
Went to try to buy a couple t-shirts, only ones I could find were in pastel colors, so thin you could see through them, and $9+. The store looked like a K-mart that was going out of business had a tornado go through. Most aisles had at least half the shelves empty, no prices on what was in stock, with trash and discarded empty beverage containers littering the floor. The mens department had heaps of random pants falling of of the shelves, in no apparent order as to size, color, or brand.
The shelves are always empty. The aisles are always blocked. Safety issues everywhere. Trying to maneuver a cart in the baby department is almost as upsetting as the attitudes of the employees in that department. Too much chaos to really enjoy shopping there now. If it werent for the convenience, Im sure theyd see way less business.
Drove 60+ miles to pick up an online order at the time that they said pickup would be available and the dept was closed!! Now we have to go back another day. Waste of time and money! Store could careless
Usually go when they first open so you have to manage your way around the boxes as they restock everything but its fine. Clean, good choices, decent supermarket section and a much better Starbucks than the previous snack area they used to have.
I needed assistance in finding a storage bin that was missing its lid. I found an associate who was busy creating a new display and asked her if she could help me find a lid or see if there were more bins in back. She was very helpful and friendly. She not only found a lid for the bin I had but also brought another bin out for me when I said Id like to buy a second bin if there was one available. At no time did she make me feel like I was bothering her. Excellent customer service! I only wish I had gotten her name so I could tell you who provided such wonderful service. I would also like to say that employees at the South Portland Target are friendly and helpful on the whole. I have shopped there often since it first opened and I have never had an unpleasant or negative experience there.
With unexpected house guests coming for the holidays, I needed a few extra things, I went on online, they had them available at my local store. I was in and out and home in record time. With my busy schedule is was wonderful to be able to run and pick up my order after just ordering it that day.
This store has become a disaster and the store, district and Regional managers should be ashamed--anyone in retail would be. Basic necessities are never on the shelf, whole zones look like theyve had a small mob run through upending racks and shelves. We havent been in for several months and went back today only to find the SAME ITEMS ARE OUT OF STOCK! It would be understood if these were niche items...but, theyre not. Its private label items and dog toys/treats, pain relievers, paper towels.. Its almost like they want you to go 2 miles down the road to Walmart.
The friendliness and efficiency of the associates is the most important reason to give my Target store five stars. Keep up the great work!
Due to the area of where I live, options are limited, and they do offer more than another large box-store.
The store is welcoming and clean. Associates are willing to help and you dont have to go far to find one. Price to value is wonderful.
I walked into the sales area of the womans department on Monday February 10th to see clothes all over the floor along with empty hangers as well strewn all over the floor. In one area I could not even push the carriage into the area..clothes and hangers all on the floor. Sad that no one takes any pride in where they work enough to pick these things up. There was a gal at a table back there that worked there but just ignored the area. There was no effort of cleaning up the area. I thought on the way home that I should have used my cart and started cleaning up the mess of clothes and hangers and just put the mess from all over that whole area and taken it to her and said I picked up all these things off the floor, now maybe you could take care of them I did take several pictures because I couldnt believe what I was seeing and no one else would have believed it either. Please people think!! No one wants to shop in an a messy store.
Target generally has a good reputation for being a cleaner and better-managed store chain than Wal-Mart. For some reason this Target is always dirty and it is an utter disaster trying to navigate around the store. Going on a Monday morning is an exercise in frustration. There are so many pallets and carts full of product being restocked that you end up not being able to walk down multiple aisles.Multiple times I have placed an online order for pick-up, with the item showing as being currently in stock at this store. More than a few times I am notified within minutes that the order cannot be fulfilled and is being cancelled.
I dont think these other reviews have been to this Target. It is a disaster. Completely disorganized. Mens jeans were in piles everywhere. Womens jeans not remotely organized by size. Everywhere I looked in the clothing departments there were clothes on the floor and draped all over the racks. I suppose its not dirty, but the clutter is ridiculous for the standards I have seen at every other Target. Also, I have not yet met a friendly person who works there. This was the third time in the last 4 months I have been there. I have waited to write this review until now to see if it changed, but it has not. It is just not what you expect from a Target. My husband compared it to a Big Lots...
Loved the drive up option! Will definitely use it again!
I hadnt been to a Target store in years and today made me realize that Im not missing much. The store in Portland Maine looked like a tornado went through it. The clothing section was not even shoppable, clothes all over, hangers on the floor. Other parts of the store were bad too. Yet they have associates standing around, joking with each other and doing nothing. Walmart is 10x better than going to THIS store. I will not waste my time here again. Very disappointed.
Nice, clean store. Friendly employees. Everything was easy to find.
They always have a vast selection of items to choose from but around Christmas the shelves are always EMPTY!
Literally THE worst Target I’ve ever been to. The shelves are CONSTANTLY empty, no matter what day of the week or time of day you go. I was there on Friday, the entire section where the Autumn/Halloween decor should be, was empty with 6+ foot tall stacks of boxes throughout. Went back today, it looks exactly the same! Not only is this extremely annoying as a customer, but it’s a huge safety issue. (Which I’ve voiced concerns about on several occasions) Baby products specifically are always out of stock. I’ve ordered photos on two separate occasions only to show up to the store and the printer apparently doesn’t work. The employees are friendly, I’ll give them that....
Helpful employees at checkout. A sale was only good if you had the app and the employee let me use his in order to save what I thought I was going to. Now Im downloading the app!
Was simple! My next step is to use the app and do curbside!!
This store is a disaster. It’s like walking into a Walmart. I’ve gone at different times of the day and there are always boxes in the isles and no one around unpacking them and the shelves are often empty or missing items. You would think they’d have their stock at the ready on Sunday’s when the ad comes out. The seasonal section is awful - you can’t even get a cart thru the area. I never see any employees restocking. They always seem to be chatting with each other socializing. I’m all for having friends at work and having fun but only when the work is done. When I go home to MN the stores there are worlds different- so clean and organized and STOCKED. I’ve been shopping at this location for 8 years and I’m just about done. Its so frustrating.
Very clean and easy to find what we were looking for.
Why do they leave the womens bathroom door open? Thats all I ask. Please close it so we can enjoy privacy.
I prefer shopping at target versus other value stores because of your atmosphere and quality of products.
Great place but I always feel like Im being harassed when cashing out about getting their red card!!! I can be there 100 times a week and every time I get asked if I want their red card, so o try avoid good here because of that.
Fast service.
The cashier was super nice. He seemed to be having a great day and he definitely made my Target experience one to remember.
I love Target! Always clean and this store in particular is from what I can tell, the largest in Maine. Pricing is normally equivalent or slightly higher than the Local Walmart but you will normally find a good variety of quality items here so I think the occasional higher prices is normally worth the additional expense.
This store is always a mess. Shelves are often empty. Im not sure what the problem is here (shoppers throwing things around, short staffed?) but this is the worst Target Ive ever been to.
The fact that one cant cancel an online order a few hours after making an order in store makes them an inferior store to many. We will be gladly taking our business elsewhere now.
Staff are friendly, there’s a great selection there for my personal taste, and there’s a lot of good deals!
Great store great prices
Rude staff
One of the worst stores ever! This store is always a total mess with boxes standing around everywhere. It was just horrible during the Holiday Season last year. Heaps and heaps of boxes everywhere and empty shelves. Some shelves I couldnt even get to and I heard many other customers complain as well. I can never find anybody to help me when I have a question and most of the people who work there are very unfriendly. After a few more unsuccessful visits, I gave up and went to Walmart where the shelves are fully stocked and the aisles neat and clean. I was never a Walmart fan but after going to Target a few times, Walmart has becomes a pleasure to shop at!
Clean store, superb products, good prices.
I’ve never experienced a more chaotic target. They are always out of the basic things I need (deodorant, cat toys, somehow every toothbrush one time) and the store is a mess.I don’t blame the workers, they’re probably understaffed and underpaid. Also one time an employee heard me and my friend talking about adidas and he came over to remind us that adidas stands for “all day I dream about sex”. Pretty weird.
You can always find what you are looking for.
Easy price match. Switching payment method after 2 days is easy. Friendly staff.
Very pleasant experience. Associates extremely helpful with locating items.
Its a joy to shop at Target. They have great presentation and quality items but still manage to keep their prices competitive with Walmart and Amazon. The South Portland store has a special place in my heart since I used to work there. Theyve got a great team!
Love the quality of products and the selection
