First time I called they told me I needed my insurance in front of me on the phone to make an appointment, which I didnt have. Second time I called I ask to schedule an appointment to get a exam- they ask me my name and make me repeat it multiple times, then confirm my birthdate, then the girl puts me on hold for 5 minutes. The next guy that picks up the phone starts the conversation over saying So you wanted to make a purchase, which I never stated I did. The girl didnt bother to tell the guy why I had been on hold so I had to restart the entire conversation. Called Phillips Eye Care and was instantly treated to good customer service and a friendly voice, she told me exactly why she had to put me on hold which was because she had to get to the computer, and was very personable. My phone experience with RxOptical in Southgate was enough to tell me that Im probably not going to have the best experience in store.

Horrible experience.When I first walked in looking for glasses I was asked by Karen if she could help me as I started to approach her he hopped up and said woo back up and pointed me to the 2-foot high table by the door with some hand sanitizer and an infrared thermometer.I apologized and said everyone has different rules these days, used the sanitizer and she checked my temp.Things tuned pleasant for a few minutes while she showed me where the Mens glasses were and a little small talk. A few minutes into my browsing my wife and I were in the back corner of the store. I tried on a pair and asked my wife for her opinion taking my mask off one ear and pulled it aside, not thinking anything of it as we were at least 20 from anyone.I hear Karen from across the store saying no, no, no, and jumps up from her desk across the store going on about my mask. I put the string of my mask back over my ear and just looked at her stunned. She says to me We dont expect you to buy glasses without seeing how they look no mask, you can take a couple of pairs in the bathroom and try them on. I put the glasses had been looking at down on the counter and left.I get it, every business can make its own rules and Ill respect that. But at least have a better plan than expecting customers to know the tiny table at the door with no attendant means to stop and wait for someone to come and take your temperature. And most of all dont expect your customers to have to try on eyeglasses in the bathroom. What a joke.I ended up buying glasses from a competitor, much better experience.

The staff was very nice I took my glasses back twice and the lens keeps popping out I could not see out of the left eye properly the manager tweeked them until they were correct just needed a little bending and tightening thanks for working with me

First time walking in to this establishment. All three ladies were with customers. That wasn’t the issue. I patiently waited for someone to be free to assist me. One by one they each finished with their customer. Not even giving me a single shred of acknowledgement. A man walks through the door “ Hi Sir. How can I help you?” As I stood there waiting for help. And was consciously being ignored. They won’t have my service

I learned that I need glasses for the first time in my life, June 2019. All of the staff at the Southgate Location were very knowledgeable, experienced and helpful with the entire process. I am very happy with my glasses and I recommend this business to anyone.

Great selection of frames. The staff is friendly and helpful and my glasses have always come back very quickly. I would give this place a 5 star except many times there is only one person working, so your wait time may be longer than necessary.

Just wrapped up my first experience with purchasing eye wear with RX Optical. From start to finish, this was a fantastic buying experience. We dealt with Jim who was very knowledgeable and honest about whether the pair I chose was a hit or miss. The whole crew was extremely patient with my little guys in tow. I ordered on Monday and my glasses were in on Friday. I went to pick them up today and noticed a couple female employees locking up. I explained I was hoping to pick up my glasses and the one woman happily invited me in. You gotta love a business who is forgiving of your lack of research on their hours. The selection of frames and sunglasses is great and I highly recommend the Southgate store!

Companies like this wonder why internet companies are blowing them out. I called in to ask basic questions about how my prescription I already have works and ordering new contacts. The lady I spoke with was rude from the first words that came out of her mouth. She was condescending and belittling when answering my questions. I do not work in the field so of course my knowledge would be less than what she knows. She seemed like my business was not wanted since I had an eye exam elsewhere and just needed some new contacts. I would love to shop locally for these things but I went on 1800-contacts and chatted with someone who answered everything with ease and my contacts will be here Monday. 1 star on because I have to.

Very helpful staff and great selection of glass frames. Have bought several pairs of different glasses from ( safety, personal and sun) and haven’t been disappointed.

Avoid. Optometrist referred me to satan for surgery which I didnt need. AVOID!!!!
