Horrible place to get in and out of. Store was packed with one register open. The guy in firearms did his best to find me the right holster but no joy. I noticed as I was leaving they had opened up four more registers. I only come here every 2-3 years so will be a while til my next visit.

I love this place. I have went to many other locations. However, the staff here is very friendly. I went in with $60. I came out with 3 bags. I got 4 pair of shoes and clothes for the whole family. Did I mention that I had change left over. I will definitely be going back again and again.

This is usually where I go to get shoes for my kids for school.. bought brand new Nikes middle of august right before school started, the stitching on the front of my daughters shoe started coming apart and now there’s a hole in them. Went into academy thinking they’d exchange them since it’d only been A MONTH AND A HALF but nope. Was rudely told “nope. they’re used. We can’t return them.” Had to call Nike directly and file a claim for a reimbursement even though Nike website clearly states they work with retailers to offer exchanges in store for defective items. Apparently Academy doesn’t honor that. I’ll be shopping at Target for my kids next shoes. I’ve never had an issue with their return policy and they have a 1 year warranty. That’s the kind of store I’ll gladly give my business to again and again.

Very professional, painless experience. All staff in gun bar were knowledgeable and helpful ( even after I made a stupid mistake). I will shop again and would highly recommend. Earned their 5 stars! Thanks guys.

The store is kept pretty clean and fairly organized every time Ive been in. There always seems to be products/inventory sold out completely and it never seems to get replenished. I dont know if that is due to Covid and product shortages. Staff are not particularly friendly ever. Trying to get staffs attention at the customer service counter proves to be difficult when staff are more interested in continuing their conversation uninterrupted than helping customers. Some employees really should get refreshers on basic customer service etiquette.

Staff is only “okay”. Rude and just not excited to be at work.Tried to do store pickup. However.. I can’t enter a parking space number if y’all don’t put one on the sign. Cmon now. The other two makeshift signs have numbers, why not the actual ones?

Great place to shop for guns, ammo, clothes, shoes, sporting goods. Picked up a nice pair of running shoes on sale tonight. Always seem to find something there.

I was on vacation and looking for some South Carolina shirts, hoodies, or anything I could find. I did find some Tshirts here at a good price.

There was not a single employee in the shoe dept. I pushed an assistance needed button twice with no luck. I had to walked to another area to find someone to help me. He was very curtious and helpful, but why dont you have employees in the shoe area? There were a lot of customers to n the area. Also the shelves were dirty and not organized at all, especially behind the first row of shoe boxes. Trash.I miss the Jacksonville, FL location. Always plenty of employees around.Cashier was friendly too.

I recently visited this store, I have been since the Covid outbreak. Now this used to be a busy store, a really nice store. It has changed a lot since I was there last (over a year?) The shelves were not stocked very well, it was difficult to find a few things or help. And I found several items with empty boxes due to theft, not just one or two, several. No one seems to care so when I found them I just sat them off to the side. Kinda disappointed in the trip after looking forward to shopping.

The Staff are knowledgeable and very attentive. They help you when you need it but dont pressure you into purchases. Its clean and organized. I Would suggest this store for outdoor gear...Camping, Hunting, Fishing. They have it all!

Literally your 1 stop shop for almost everything you need. Watch out walmart!😅. Seriously Academy surprised me tremendously! Excellent customer service and the store is HUGE. So many name brands to choose from! And the toys they have for children? Theyre not video games or tablets theyre actually games where you set up in your yard and kids get to go outside and actually use your legs to run around and play. Huge selection of outdoor toys and Equipment, games, you name it. Will definitely be a frequent visitor. Thanks Academy

I’m shaking writing this review because I’m so outraged. My mother and I were at Academy today, left in my car and when we returned I dropped her off at her car. Without meaning to I left her without her car keys or her phone. She was stranded and went inside to ask to use the phone to call me to come back with her keys. The sales employer told her he didn’t think he could and when he asked the front desk employee they said she couldn’t use the phone either. WHAT KIND OF BUSINESS DOES THIS? Not a company I want anything to do with! She then had to ask a stranger in the parking lot to borrow their phone and they refused. After many minutes she finally found someone who would let her. I’m so disgusted at Academy for allowing this to happen. She could have been robbed or taken in your parking lot and you wouldn’t just let her make a phone call. I will never be shopping here again.

I love the place but when I used my Academy credit card, it got declined. I hav a zero balance because I always pay it off to get the discount. They could offer no reason. So I used my other one instead.

They have no swimsuits in stock even though swim season is just starting. Theyve taken down their whole swim section, in fact. If swimming is your sport, youll have to go elsewhere.

Pretty packed as usual. No ammo. Tons of fishing stuff though, which Is what I was there for. Couldve used an extra register open considering it was mid day. I found that they also didnt sell the type of bait i usually get from columbia (squid). Overall I was pleased with my visit.

Disrespectful cashier and manager was very confrontational with a sore aditude and when confronted about the cashiers rude and hostel aditude wanted to act hostel himself both should be reviewed by corporate and suggestion would be need to find other employment where customers are not needed they have no social skills here ! Will not shop here again lack of caring for customers !

Good prices on shoes for my son.

We usually love Academy and their clothing brand. However, this was the grossest store I’ve been in. The dressings rooms and bathrooms obviously haven’t been cleaned in a very long time. The toilets were full of tags and boxes from stolen merchandise. We will not be back to this location.

Went to by a s&w xd. Asked man working firearm counter if I could see it. He laughed and walked away. Will not return. Sad seeing I bought 2 other firearms lthis week there.....

I got a great deal on steel toed shoes for work. I couldnt find anyone to help in the shoe department, so it took a lot longer to find what I needed.

What’s the point of placing a pickup order if someone can just walk in and get the last item of the order you just placed over 40 minutes ago. Was on hold for an hour to make sure they pulled it and when I finally got to talk to someone they said oh yeah someone just came in and got that gun. I said that’s great, I placed a pickup a long time ago.

It was ok wish they had ➕ sizes like 2x or 3x large

I purchased a folding chair 💺 and it was very low to the ground and hard to get out of it. I thought I was paying for a nice chair, but I think that its more for a child or a thin Adult. Ill know better next time.

Saw on their Website the Spartanburg store had some 12ga shotgun shells in stock at 8pm. You could not order online, only buy in store.I went the next morning and as I entered the Spartanburg store, I verified onlome the shells were still in stock. When I got to the firearms counter, they said they DID NOT HAVE ANY. The clerk said the Website isnt very accurate. How can bar codes not keep accurate inventory?I told him I had a 40 mile round trip wasted because their inventory isnt accurate. It will be a long time before I go there to buy anything. I try to buy local to support local business.

They have a better supply and variety in Bbq/smoker supplies and accessories than most general stores. They still are lacking in ammo and guns like everywhere else. It definitely one of the better sports stores.

I ordered online for curbside service and when I got there I was the only car there I put my info in while I was there and 10 minute passed and no one came to my car so I went in and no one had even got my order ready. I will not be ordering anymore for the store ever customer service is awful that was my last order that they will be getting
