Decided to surprise my Son with a Banjo for Christmas but I dont know much about them. So I friend suggested I stop in at Deering since I live local. I arrived at 10:00AM and discovered it was by appointment only. I called, explained I was at their front door and they adjusted their day for me. I was welcomed inside and given a complete explanation of the different styles of banjo, how they are designed and how each part affects the other. Truly a great experience. When I got home I started my research for a entry level banjo that my son will not outgrow (He currently plays guitar, bass, drums, and piano so not a complete novice .) but wont break the bank of this single income Dad. Website after website listed Deering goodtime banjos as top rated and after spending an hour at their company, it is clear why. They make a quality product that will last.

This is what American-made quality and customer service is all about. If youre ever in the area, and they are giving tours again, go. Its a great group of people who believe in what they do. I have a Deering Sierra 5-string and four-string Irish Tenor that sound awesome! Had a finish issue with my first Irish tenor banjo, but they stood behind their reputation and addressed it, which blew me away with their response given customer service. My wife is looking for a banjolele or banjo uke. Im trying to sway her towards their concert as, I dont think, theres another banjo that comes close to the sound/timbre of theirs. Id never hesitate to buy from Deering. Even with the occasional challenge, in my experience, theyve ponied up to address it. And thats what I care about. Life never goes exactly how I think it ought, but, when things go sideways, what is the response going to be. Ill continue to look to Deering given my banjo musical needs.

Dropped the ball with their customer service. I was informed that i would be receiving a new neck for my banjo back in July. I think i have been left high and dry with no communication on any progress or solution to my Goodtime Artisan Banjo that i bought brand new last year.

Friendly and informative, Im not a banjo player but my family stopped in and we were welcomed warmly and shown the variations of the various models.Great pride in making them here in the USA, which is a great thing in this era. If I could play even a bit of music on a banjo Id stop by more often just to hang out.

The Great American Banjo Company! I recently bought my first banjo and the staff at Deering couldnt have been more helpful. They have a showroom on site where you can try instruments, and they sell banjos direct (although at full price). They also have a repair center that will do work on banjos on an appointment basis. I took mine in for a pickup install and it was done perfectly while I waited. Theres a tour of the factory offered twice a week thats extremely interesting and highly recommended. A great company that builds all its instruments right here in San Diego!

I just purchased a Deering Goodtime Banjolele here in Australia. After much research, it was clearly the best instrument in quality and sound. But, the reality of buying anything is, there can be an issue with the product. And so it was with this particular one.I made contact with Deering and the response was fast. Sam made contact by email quickly pointing out that its a warranty issue. As we made arrangements for the most economical way for me to proceed, he gave a number of options for me to choose, appreciating the distance we are from the U.S.I posted it back, Sam kept me up-to-date on repairs (which were quick) and it was back in the mail very quickly. And, as it turns out, the repairs were spot-on!Not only are Deering instruments great, the companys service is something rarely seen anymore.
