Management should be ashamed of themselves. How do you overbook a 36 hole golf course? Took my group over an hour to finish 2 holes on the traditions course and we got stuck behind 4 groups on the third hole. They don’t offer refunds and this place is a joke. Don’t play here.

I am always saddened by the reminders of the damage done to such a wonderful golf course by previous storms. However, the staff and crew at Cypresswood has done an exceptional job bringing the course back to pre-Harvey standards. I thoroughly enjoyed my nostalgic round and look forward to more enjoyment in the future...now if I can just get my golf game to follow suit! Thanks for all that you do!

I made my first trip to the Cypresswood Golf Club July 15, 2021, so this review is based on limited experience. I was starting a series of group golf lessons. The lesson was so very fun. It was well organized and very helpful to a newbie. From what I saw of the premises they were well maintained. While not a connoisseur of golf courses, I can say that the folks in charge do appear to do a fine job of running and maintaining the entire facility.

I have played golf in the Houston area for almost 20 years, but had never played this gem until this past April. The Tradition course instantly became my favorite in this area and I have played it 4 times over the past couple months. I love the rolling fairways, the deep-faced fairway bunkers, and multiple options to play most holes. the fairways are immaculate (and generally wide), the traps are soft with white, and the greens are receptive and putt true,.If it wasnt a 45-minute drive for me, I would definitely move my membership!

Don’t waste your time. I knew something was wrong when we pulled up to a trailer to check in. No clubhouse. Cart path was so damaged i think it gave me a concussion. The food was awful. We would of better off eating at a gas station in New Mexico. It took 3 hours to play 9 holes. There is no consideration to managing the pace of play. We left after 11 holes. If you really want to golf then go somewhere else…. I mean anywhere else…...Cross this one off your list. You couldn’t pay me to play this course again.

Requested a rain check for back-9 as we werent going to waste another 4 hours continuing our round...shocked staff wasnt more apologetic about the issue! Also acted like we were being a nuisance requesting half of our money back...probably shouldve been offered a FULL REFUND considering how unpleasurable the whole experience was!

Hands down #1 best public golf course in the Houston area. I would even put this ahead of the majority of private courses in the area. Both courses are always in fantastic shape no matter what time of year it is. The tradition course is 100% worth the $75. Such a peaceful and tranquil setting. When you are on the tradition course the only things you can hear are birds chirping and the echo when you hit a bomb with the driver! Keep it up Cypresswood! The course was in great condition. Due to recent rain it was unfortunately cart path only which can not be controlled. The only reason why I have rated it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the rate of play. I played 18 on the cypresswood course and it took 5 and a half hours to play a round. The rate of play needs to be addressed to golfers and have marshals ensure golfers are playing at an acceptable rate. All in all I would still highly recommend playing this course and also would recommend playing the Traditional course which is only about $20 more but it is totally worth the cost!!!

Review №57

The course is great but incredibly poorly managed. I stopped playing golf a few years ago because I was tired of slow players and the round taking up my whole day. I shoot in the low 80s so you’d think for $200 for 2 people they’d manage it properly. They book too many people and I never saw a Marshall the entire time. No one manages pace of play and it turns a normal round into a 6 hour ordeal. We were waiting 20 minutes to hit at each of the many par 3’s. It’s not like it was two of us. We were a foursome and so was everyone else. They cram too many people onto the course and don’t manage the pace of play except at the starting tee. I don’t have time to be spending my entire morning and afternoon playing so I will not be back. Very disappointed since I’ve heard such great things about the traditions course

Tradition Course is secluded in the woods tucked off even more than the Cypresswood course. You will forget you are minutes from the busy city. The beverage cart passed serval times. The greens were rolling well, the fairways were cut well and the pace of play was very comfortable on a Sunday. The starter was informative and hospitable. Its a bit of a ride from the Medical Center area but a very good round of golf.

Enjoyable course however, it all felt very unorganized. There was a frost delay for our 8:44 Tee time and at 8:40, the 8:00 group was just teeing off... no biggie. Except the groups were very backed up and there was nobody to regulate who went next so people were just jumping in whenever they could. After that all went well, didnt feel rushed nor did we have to wait very long after the next 2 holes or so. Had it not been for that, I would have given 5 stars.

Played the Cypress course today. Our tee time for 1:48 pm ended up being a little after 2 pm. The pace of play was extremely slow. We had 3 golfers and we had to wait on every hole. One of the carts died and we had to have another brought out to us and still had to wait for the group in front of us. The fareways were very wet and several had ruts from carts. There should have been rangers on the course to ensure pace of play was kept. There also is no restrooms on the course, so it’s very difficult for females. We had to quit after 14 holes because of sunset which is ridiculous that it takes 4 hours to play that many holes.

Cypresswood Golf Course in Houston is endangering its clients by forcing them to ride two to a cart when playing golf. According to the staff, this is mandatory. There are no other options. I am 68 and in the high-risk group. This seems extremely irresponsible when you consider the fact that Corona infections are currently surging in Houston. All other area courses with which I am familiar actually require clients to ride one to a cart to maintain social distancing.
