Tuffys is a great place to go that I trust as a female. They are not overpriced and even my last visit I had a small repair but Steve was very kind and set me on my way with the car fixed and at no charge you cannot beat that. They are good folks over there and I am very happy with each time I get my car serviced there.

I tried to set up an appointment to get my oil changed but they were booked full. They told me to drop it off and they would get to it. I forgot the first time and they were more than willing to let me pick another day. I was late on that day as well. But they went out of their way to change my oil AND rotate my tires, replace my wipers, replace my hood clips and other things. They did it all complimentary and I would recommend this location to anyone. The guys working there are down to earth and very helpful.

I visited Tuffy tire and auto service today for one of my car issue and it was my first time visit. The owner was very professional and very much caring. I am really impressed with the service. This is the best among all the others I have visited in town and highly recommend to try out. True value for money.

Management seemed rude brought truck in for drivers side manifold gasket was quoted 500 or 600 then after looking at it they said I needed both sides and when I said was not why I brought it here manager was rude and said well we saw that it needed it he also informed me that the original quote was wrong and a manifold gasket would be at least 8 hours labor at $112 a hour getting it done by one of the best exhaust guys in central illinois for half the price including new manifold

I taking my car there the get a power steering flush car wasnt hard to steer at all as soon as they charge my card a guy who look at me with an attitude when I first came in worked on my car and some how my power steering have air in it and they refuse to fix it now Im out of more money I dont recommend especially if a person got an attitude to work on Your car

I would highly recommend Tuffy Tire & Auto Service. I had not previously used Tuffy but went there on a recommendation of another repair shop. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. They were able to get my car in quickly, found the problem, discussed options for the repair, and fixed it correctly the first time. Zach Williamson was great and will be my first choice for future repairs.

I was able to get an appointment within a few days! Had to get my wheels alligned and my dealer is on the other side of town. These social distancing days, I did not want to wait there for my car to be serviced. I was able to come home and then go back to pick it up. They had hand sanitizer available and only let one person in the waiting room at a time. I am very happy with my repair and with this shop.

I love everything about Tuffys. You definitely know your car is safe in thier hands and yours afterwards!I love getting my oil change done here too.They offer a great deal where you get a free tire rotation with your old change so you dont have to worry about remembering when to get them rotated.Amazing crew! They are always so helpful and also do full inspections so you know exactly what needs to be done to your car and go from there.

Got the job done right

Tuffy probably have the best mechanics in town but, they will charge you 4x more than any other shop and still cant figure out whats wrong with the car! They charge me 600$ for working on my car to find out why my lights are on, but they couldnt find the problem and couldnt fix it! But instead they charge me WAY TOO much money for playing with my car! Looks like they just like to robbed people; no offense please! Be aware of this place!

Really a great place. These guys take the time to explain, give options and offer suggestions. Granted we may not always like the options but (1) they will give them and (2) they will not screw you over. Good reliable service.

My dad and I got tires for a vehicle, and they found further repairs to be done and were very friendly and informative about the situation. Also very fair pricing. My family and I would highly recommend this business.

Gary and his crew are the best! My daughter and I have been taking our cars here for a couple years and trust them totally.Been to other shops when Tuffys is busy...just not the same experience. Here they will give us the estimate, on the low side and how high it may go if there are other issues.Very pleased to say they dont take advantage of their customers. Took my car in to have front end noise diagnosed. I was told that car would need new shocks. I had a second opinion and another shop and was told shocks were fine the noise was a $20.00 part that could be replaced. I saved $400.00 by going else where.I will never do business at this Tuffy shop on Wabash and advise everyone to beware.

Spent $560.00 on tires at Discount tire they dont have a allinment machine sent me to Tuffy for discount on allinment discount is $10.00 big deal could have went to firestone and got everything for 600. The person I talked to was over the top rude. Never again

My daughters car experienced electrical problems on highway 55 traveling from St. Louis to Milwaukee for school. I called the 4+ star rated locations and chose Tuffys based on their ratings and my very pleasant conversation with Dave. They took care of the car promptly, were extremely fair regarding price and got her back on the road. They even called her the next day to ask if she made it safely to Milwaukee. I would recommend them to anyone anytime!

We were from out of town when our truck broke down and they did everything they could to get us back on the rode. They went above and beyond!!! Wish they were in our Hometown. Very knowledgeable and reasonable with their prices for warranted mechanical work.

Customer service was excellent. Seemed like a very friendly place during my visit. I got my brakes checked there and they did a great job. I am satisfied with the results.

2013 review.Do not take your car here unless you have some deep pockets.First time I went here - no issues, fixed my injectors, used the one I bought from Autozone (technically they arent allowed to), gave me a discount since I was friends with a regular.Second time I went here they did $1,000 of work to not fix my original problem, which was an oil leak.Third time I went here (just three months later) they did $1,400 of work (I refuse to believe $1,400 of maintenance went unnoticed three months back) to STILL not fix the oil leak.Fourth time was for a buyers inspection on a used vehicle, and to have my regular checkup done. They did not charge me for the buyers inspection, but told me my leak was caused by my water pump, which they replaced for $700 and still did not fix the original problem. They also told me that I have a coil spring on my new car that might unravel and blow a tire, and tried to sway me from leaving due to it being a safety hazard.Fifth time I had blown a fuse due to snow getting in my window buttons and melting - they told me it was a $350 combination switch. When I took my car back to the dealer to fix some of the defects I had driven it off the lot with, he fixed the problem in 10 minutes and told me it was a $2 fuse, and did not charge me.They lie to stupid people to scam you out of money.Apparently Im a stupid person.

WARNING: be careful to read the negative reviews. They apparently have a history of stealing peoples money by telling you it needs repairs that your vehicle doesnt need at all.I went there for an allignment AFTER just having the front end fully inspected. And I only made sure to have my mechanic check it out before I went in to tuffy because I read the reviews stating the same thing I did above.So, after having an inspection of the front end with nothing found wrong, I went there for an alignment. Because theyre the cheapest (for obvious reasons). Hoping for the best but expecting them to try something shady like they ended up doing.Upon arriving they told me it was making a terrible noise, and needed wheel bearings. I of course let them know I just had it inspected and it was fine. So I of course left, and went back to my mechanic. Once again inspected and nothing found wrong.Went to a second mechanic, and again they found nothing wrong. Only this time the second mechanic I went to for a third opinion stated tuffy is famous for trying to rob their customer this way, and both customers there agreed as well and had their own story to tell.

Ive been going there for years and they have done work on several vehicles that iveI had and they have always done a good job and quicker than I expected. THAKT YOU TUFFY AND THANKS FOR THE CUPCAKE.

They said they would have my vehicle done Saturday for $429. Then charged me $616. Also they broke a different part of my vehicle and told me they would not be able to fix it until Tuesday. I was 2 hours away from home. Had to find a truck and trailer to get my vehicle home because it was undrivable. They were also unwilling to refund ANY AMOUNT. The owner said I “hurt his feelings “ that I asked for any money back. I didn’t ask for the whole amount back, just the money to fix the part they broke. He said it is now my problem. Never a call to tell me there were issues. Just a demand to pay for a car they broke and did not fix. Unbelievable. I would tell anyone I know to never go there. Yikes.

Our truck brakes locked up on us just as they were closing. They took us to the hotel and worked us into what was an obviously busy schedule. Becka and Gary are some seriously Good People. They warmed our hearts.

I would definitely recommend them. They are great. They told me and showed me exactly what was wrong with my car. I only went in for them to look at 2 things and they ended up finding 5 things that was wrong with my car. I really liked that they didnt try to hustle me out of money like other places have by telling me things needed fixed when really it didnt.

Was on the way to my brothers wedding and needed a quick tire replacement as one of my back tires was starting to lose its tread. Called and talked to Richard who seemed very nice and he told me they had the tire I needed but it was just at their warehouse across town and they would just need to send one of their guys to go get it I thought that was a little strange but yeah whatever just get it done so I can get on the the road! Gave Richard the car keys and went to eat some pizza while we waited. Came back an hour later, car was on the lift but no new tires put on yet, Dave caught me and explained that the bearing hub was going going out and needed replaced, told me it would cost an extra $400. I politely declined and told him I was in a hurry could they please just get the tire put,on so I could go?? Nope, they didnt have the tire yet! Unbelievable, an hour later the tire showed up, delivered by a USPS delivery truck! I soon realized I had been lied to, there was no warehouse across town, these swindlers ordered the tire from Wal-Mart for $66 and had it shipped a couple blocks to their shop, charged me $119 for the tire and set me back 3 hours on my trip. Look im not afraid to pay a little extra for a good speedy service, but I dont appreciate being lied to. They put my vehicle on the lift and took the tire off and I was stuck. They used stalling tactics and ambush sales tactics to try to cover the fact that they were waiting for the tire that they were having shipped from,Wal-Mart to be delivered, not by one of their guys but by USPS. I would never recommend these people to anyone. They seem nice upfront but they are dishonest and swindlers in the back. STAY AWAY!

Came in to get my muffler checked out, the staff and mechanics were awesome! Got me in and out in no time! Would definitely recommend this place to others.

The mechanic was loud, rude and totally inappropriate with me regarding his opinion of my car interior. He did it in front of another customer AND loudly repeated himself several times over.

Drove my daughters car there on Wednesday night for a Thursday morning appt. put the key in the slot. Didn’t hear from them by 4 on Thursday so I called and they didn’t even know the car was there. Stated the key slid under a desk. We took the car because there was a noise coming from rear break. However the car hasn’t had any trouble stopping. Front break pads are new and we could tell rears needed changed. Within a half an hour they called back and said car needed $1300 worth of break work. We asked them to just do an alignment and we would take care of the breaks ourselves. They responded with they couldn’t do the alignment because the breaks don’t work due to left front break hanging off. Remember we drove the car there without any stopping problems! We have also recently had the car at another shop replacing tires and no one mentioned a break hanging off! So you take a vehicle there that has breaks and after they put there hands on it it no longer has breaks. They also told us the anitifreeze tested unsafe but “my meter isn’t very accurate so I’ll check it with someone else’s meter”. Are u kidding me!?!? Super pissed and highly disappointed!! This is exactly why people don’t trust mechanics!!

Best mechanic shop experience I have had, nice people who arent the type to screw you over. I was in from out of town and showed up to the shop at 4:00 P.M. on a Friday evening thinking I had an alignment issue. They lifted the car and found out i actually had a bad wheel bearing in the front left tire which made sense since I had heard a wobble noise coming from there. Even though they were about to close in 2 hours they took on the job of changing my bearing because they knew I had to hit the road and had no where to stay. They stayed an hour late to get it fixed and even helped a lady whose car broke down at the intersection outside get a tow truck and ride to her house. They also shared some of their deer meat summer sausage with me and I chatted with Richard behind the desk until everything was good to go had a pretty good time actually. Charged me $450 for a bearing replacement which is fair considering the range for that job is between $350 and $600. Would give more stars if I could. Good place to go.

I was passing through town on a road trip and decided my A/C, which had been struggling to keep the heat at bay during the hottest hours of the day, was going to need to work better if I was going to survive the rest of the trip. Tuffy replaced some leaky valves in the A/C system, and refilled the system with refrigerant, dye, and compressor oil. The engine ran really rough but the AC worked. Five weeks later on the drive back to Houston from Philly the AC stopped working. I took my car to my mechanic in Houston and they said the refrigerant was overcharged. They removed some refrigerant and the A/C worked again for about two weeks before the compressor died. It turns out that overcharging the A/C can damage the compressor, a fact that is well known to mechanics (except apparently the ones at Tuffy). So Tuffys mistake is going to cost me around $1500 to fix. I recommend you take your car some where else for service.

They r very kind people they want to make sure that u get good service.there prices could be lower that would be great.when they itemize ur bill im not getting why u pay different amounts. For there supplies thats one thing i dont like. If u have like rear brakes put on u pay a fee for the tools they use then they work on something else and again u pay a fee for those tools.thats what i want explained to me.i feel like they r over charging for all that.

I went to the same mechanic for my entire life before relocating to Springfield. While searching for a new mechanic, I was hesitant but referred to Tuffys and am glad that I was. Gary, Becky, and the mechanics that work there are phenomenal, genuine people that go out of their way to make you feel like family. My last car was a real lemon (which is hard to live with on a teachers salary) and the Tuffys guys would help me prioritize what services needed to be completed first. When I finally got around to finding a new car I made sure the mechanics at Tuffys had a look before I signed any paperwork and I am glad that I did. There are never bad surprises with your car when you have good people like Dave, Rick, and the guys at Tuffys looking after it.As long as I remain in Springfield, I will remain a Tuffys customer!
