Definitely on my places to avoid list from now on, company policy forklift cant go outside of building, so they force employees to manually lift gun safe into back of pickup truck, at least they realized they couldnt do it before anybody got hurt, I got a refund

I went there for some rain gear. The employees were rude. They gave me wrong info or wouldnt respond at all when I tried to speak to them. The rain gear that I finally found was very expensive compared to other places Ive checked and they didnt have any fluorescent.

Honestly thought about placing four stars because the location is hard to get in or out of, however the area built up around them and it isn’t their fault city planning failed. The store is clean, staff are helpful, and I have not had a poor experience. We have gotten shoes, sports equipment, and ammunition here on a regular basis. Just be wary of busy times as the intersection is completely inundated at rush hour or around holidays.

Friendly helpful staff. Store is easy to get around in and find what you need. Have a wide range of outdoor equipment and prices are great. They dont always post their sale prices on every single item. Ive get there at times prepared to spend x amount of dollars and spent 1/2 that amount.

They make it easy to purchase a gun online, do paperwork in store, and get your gun the same day!

Nothing not to like about Academy. The store is always clean and well stocked. The selection is varied in every department. No matter what you are looking for they will have something at your price-point or preferences. The gun selection is getting better and prices are fair.

Lots of missing merchindise check your boxes before you leave the parking lot bought a few toys and all the accessorys werent in the box.

Decent selection except for in swimwear. A lot of things could be removed that are carried in the local team sports stores to make room for better variety in other areas. Prices are often lower elsewhere. The staff is always so nice but the unholy horrible smell near the bathrooms keeps me away from the shoe area. Air freshener is not going to help, I dont know what happens in there but it needs a major odor eliminator because it always smells like someone made chilli out of dirty diapers back there. They usually have good inventory in coolers and the gun department.

Absolutely love this store!! Has everything the whole family needs at a affordable price. Excellent return service for those little moments we make a rush to purchase without thinking. The cashiers are friendly, helpful, and awesome!!!

I absolutely love this store everything from store brand to name brand. Only downside is the shoes. Whats going on nothings ever stopped and everythings always out of the most common sizes youd think after this long you figure out youre ordering status with your supplier. Other than that no complaints.

Fun store with lots of variety for our sports and leisure needs. The BCG brand they offer is pretty good quality and often last as long as our Nike and Under Armour gear. We love that we can find all sports gear all year long, not just what is in season at the moment.

I enjoy this store for quick to the point purchases. If you know what you want, and where to find it, you can be in and out quickly. Service is usually close if you need help, and theres rarely a long wait at check out.

Our go-to place for all the last minutes sports clothing and equipment. Daughter forgot elbow pads for a major volleyball tournament. Of course they had them!

They had what we were looking for, but the guy(David) at the register kept picking his nose. It made me feel like we needed to take the things he handled home to wash before use.

I like Academy Sports, I appreciate the price being lower than most competitors. I buy kayak and fishing equipment there more than any other place. But I wish they would carry more sizes above a 2xl in the clothing and especially the sports team apparel. A 3xl isnt an odd or extreme size but extremely hard to find at Academy. I know many that shop for 3xl team apparel, Academy is missing out on a lot of sales.The 3xl items they do have are the basic logo simple design items. They dont have the fun design or vintage style items they offer in smaller sizes. What a shame.

Nice store. Well stocked. Great selections in color, style and sizes. Clearance is at back of store for shoes. Handicap parking near door and easily accessible to all areas of merchandise. Helpful associates if desired.

Busy, was able to get help in the shoe department which was amazing seeing how it seems you cannot get that in any other stores anymore. Would recommend for some great deals and good shoes, huge selection.

AWFUL! On 9/19. Ben so he said was working customer service. He took forever with just one person. I said Im going to be late for work it was only one person, my review will reflect this.. Clean store and Friendly staff. I was Greeted upon entry and was asked if I needed help while shopping.

I went in to get my arrows cut, comma but they do not do that there. Everything else there went great.

I returned a gift of several shirts in the wrong size with a receipt and requested a gift card so I could exchange for the correct size. They instead returned the amount to the purchasers card and refused to change it. I was told that since I brought a receipt it had to go back to the original card even though I simply wanted to exchange. I advise you to not bring a receipt if you just want a gift card or exchange.

Great selection, good prices, but checking out takes awhile because everyone avoids that one cashier yall know who Im talking about 🤣

Academy is one of my favorite fishing stores. They carry 6th sense gear, which is my favorite brand of gear. Although the staff didnt know anything about fishing, they were extremely kind and helpful.

I work in customer service and Im not going to lie....people seem to be a lot worse these days. I just went in to find a pair of pumas Id seen online and had the best service Ive had in a long time. Bri and Dustin went so far above and beyond to try to find what I was looking for that I had to post something. At one point, another young man came over to help look as well (apologies I didnt get his name). He was all smiles and happy to help. At no point did anyone seem irritated or put out and the entire search was their idea. I figured they were all busy and told them not to worry about it, but they moved every stack of boxes and looked behind them as well as going thru the mens to see if they were misplaced. In the end, they didnt have them but the experience was still great because of the employees. Big thank you to all three of you!

Great customer service ..only had 1 bad experience were I was waiting in line for pick up and no other customer was after me ...old lady was rude saying you need to get in line over there when she saw me standing there for more than 5 minutes behind the customer she was done helping ...I looked over and now a line had formed and the nice customer that was waiting on the far end told her no she was here before all of us waiting ...old lady made a rude gesture and said well what do you need ..are you here for pick up ...she had curly light colored hair and slim

They have really good prices compared to bass pro. Not as big of a selection but stop here first.

There was a line all the way to the back of the store and 3 registers open. Their products are overpriced as well....they gave us $5 off for being in line so long 🤷‍♀️

Ive got to admit, my son and I are jokesters. By the fishing section, there was an employee, Im guessing mid 700-800 years old, but hard at it unpacking new fishing rod/reel combos. In front of him a mountain of various kayaks, 100+ easy. We found what I needed, and I thought the ol fella could use a good cheering up. So I had my son ask him if hed point us into the direction of the kayaks....... was worth the smile and petty conversation!

Many exercise items and fishing gear but the rifle and pistol aisles were mostly empty, I did not find the items I sought.I purchased athletic gear and the cashier recommended applying for the Academy Club Card for 15 dollars off the total, which of course, after providing her my drivers license for scanning, she gave me the literature for the credit card that I had inadvertently just applied for.It would have been courteous to inform me first.

We had a Make-a-wish shopping spree here and they went way above and beyond what we could have asked for. They were extremely friendly, caring, helpful and generous. They had two employees help up around the store to make sure our young man got everything he was looking for. So, make sure to support these guys because not only do they have a great selection, they care about local nonprofits and helping with the kids. Im so impressed. Ill never shop another outdoors store again!

My Wife needed work boots. We had some other things already. When we were went to look at the boots, it was crowned...To come to our rescue...There was a young lady (Amanda) with a ladder (A lot bigger than her) We explained, we were looking for a size 8. So she carefully took her ladder through the crowd. Got to the top shelf and found some additional sizes, but not a 8. We went to several places that day. (early Christmas shopping) My Wife and I agreed, Amanda was the most helpful clerk of the day. Even not finding the boots we were looking for, she still made it a pleasant shopping experience.

Went in to try out and purchase a recumbent exercise bike. Display models were broken with pedals off of them and consoles not working. Did have a good shopping experience with some clothing and other exercise accessories purchased.

This place is a nightmare of Chinese marketing hype. One of the fitness compression belts has bad velcro that does nothing. Most of their products are rejects sent here because chinese are too smart to buy the trash. I found nothing here made in US. All the bikes suck, and for a place this huge Id hope theyd have one adult trike or quad bike for old people. Nope. Didnt even have adult bikes.

After buying a few things from Academy we noticed we got charged full price on something that was marked down. Academy workers had fixed it no problem and we went back outside. We noticed our car was locked with the keys inside and both my boyfriend and I’s phone were inside the car. The ever so kind greeter Trevor had already Seen us come in twice now and asked what was wrong. We told him we locked our keys in the car which also had our phones in there. Trevor kindly called triple A for us so we didn’t have to pay Pop a lock. Triple A came very quick and got the car door opened no problem. If it wasn’t for Trevor our day could’ve been way worse due to the fact our phones were in the locked car with our house keys. Trevor deserves a raise!!! He went out of his way to make sure we got our car unlocked. He works at the Academy for in Springfield Mo, and seriously made our day so much better as we walked in even the first time! He was joking with my bf and told him they had chiefs stuff in there when my bf was wearing Dallas Cowboys. He made both of us laugh. We both hope to see him again and repay him in anyway we can. Thank you Trevor, both of us hope you get a raise that you deserve! Goes to show there are still good people out there!

All the employees were nearby till i needed help then they all took off and found some way to be busy in another part of the store i was not happy.

Went in for specific pants for my husbands work. Finally found them. It seemed like everyone was more trying to sell KC Chiefs gear or they were very much onto stocking shelves. All of that was more important than to help 1 disabled person trying to find the pants and since the store only had 1 electric shopping cart, and I never saw someone in that elec cart the whole hour we were inside. 1 is not enough on a weekend. I am having to wear a medical boot on one foot which makes it ruff to navigate around a big store. Should have had more than 1 charged up and available. I had to hobble to the back to the dressing room to the back and back n forth like this until we finally found the pants. Needed some bullets which they were also out of. This wasnt my favorite shopping experience in your store. Sorry to say.
