Visited from out of town and were bummed to stop in on a Tuesday only to find out their kitchen wasn’t open (we’ve heard good things about their breakfast!). Our bad luck continued because when we asked for ice coffees (lattes) we were told they didn’t have ice. Not sure if that’s a usual thing or if they were just out, but either way was a bummer. We settled for some hot coffee on a 90° day. It was a sweet, tasty latte and their space was really cute! We were just bummed we didn’t know about their breakfast hours and that we couldn’t get cold drinks on a hot day.

This is without a doubt one of the best unexpected breakfast experiences Ive had. A very relaxing atmosphere with an inviting feel. The DIY decor makes you feel like you are enjoying breakfast and coffee at a friends house who has a gift for creativity. I highly recommend ordering a latte and selecting one of their housemade syrups. The only thing more impressive than the perfect quality of my latte was the flavor packed breakfast sandwich served on a freshly made biscuit. If you havent had the opportunity to visit this gem dont hesitate on doing so any longer.

Eugene, take note! Main Street in Springfield has got it going on! Washburn Cafe has the same hipster vibe you can find in Portland. Went for coffee and brunch. The sign on the front door made me smile. Awesome bagels, coffee, good service, sat outside in the sun at the picnic tables. I feel like they need a little bit better ventilation inside...it was a little smoky, which is why we chose to eat outside. I had the special...The Italian. It was a little dry, but flavorful. Our daughter had the Monte Cristo, which was amazing. Our other daughter had the biscuits and gravy...also amazing. Husband had the breakfast sandwich ...would also recommend. Overall a great first experience! Will be back.

I sat at a small picnic table on the sidewalk out front with a friend. The friend went inside to place the order for our brunch as they dont have table service. I had a breakfast sandwich with pork belly, egg, sriracha mayo & cheddar on a house made biscuit. The biscuit was soft, buttery and flaky...near perfect. (Aint no ones biscuits as good as grandmas biscuits.) To drink I ordered a chai. They serve Tanglewoods ginger spiced chai, I chose to use oat milk. It was very good but did not deliver the spicy punch I prefer. They have limited seating both outdoors and indoors due to COVID. This will be a location I return to many times.

I go to Washburne regularly for lunch in the middle of my work day. I usually get a tuna melt and it is so, so good—but Ive enjoyed everything else Ive tried, too. I brought out-of-town friends here for brunch and we all enjoyed what we ordered. I got a PBBGH (I think is how its spelled—peanut butter, banana, granola, honey) and it was sweet, sticky perfection. If youre going for an espresso drink, try the Butterbeer Latte!

Best coffee in town. If you like single origin roasts it doesn’t get simpler or better than a hot cup of dark coffee from the Washburne. The baristas know what they are doing and will help you out if you don’t. It’s a welcoming place where you don’t need to feel like you must defend your ‘coffee knowledge’ but you’re absolutely welcome to share it. If you were enticed into the shop by the lure of a warm latte you’ll be more than happy with the results and you’ll be most excited to find some of the most delicious food in Springfield inside as well. Come for the delicious coffee, stay because it’s comfortable and you could spend all day eating homemade biscuits, pop tarts, delicious greens and pickled vegetables. And on the weekends...amazing donuts and fried chicken biscuit sandwiches. If I had to choose one establishment to visit for the rest of my life, this would be it.

The Washburne Cafe is the greatest (not so hidden) gem of Downtown Springfield. I struggle knowing where to begin when I talk about this place. The staff and owners alike are among the most generous, honest, and kind people you will find in any city, USA. They care about the product they serve, they care about their employees, the truly care about the community and their guests experience, and it clearly shows. The coffee is second to none. They have certainly mastered art of the perfect cup of locally roasted coffee. The most impressive aspects of this cafe, however, reside in the food. I have had nearly every baked good on the menu and have never fallen anything short of amazed. They bake on sight daily, using quality ingredients and highly technical and creative methods. Their savory food leaves nothing to be desired itself. It is immensely impressive that a coffee shop/cafe such as this can produce such high quality, delicious, home cooked food. Whether it is house cured and smoked Pastrami, Fried Chicken Sandwiches on Friday, dressings made from scratch, rubbed and roasted pork belly, sourdough breads they have started, risen, and baked in house, rotating soups from scratch, their house fermented hot sauce, or any other of the multitude of incredibly impressive and delicately balanced foods they prepare daily you cannot go wrong ordering breakfast, brunch, or lunch from this utterly fantastic neighborhood cafe.

No one greets you when you walk in, they just stare at you like you made a mistake walking in and make it awkward, and ordering can also feel uncongenial. The Washburne Cafe has changed. Perhaps for the better. I miss the endless chalkboard menu and comfort living room style decor of before. However, the new and improved Washburne Cafe is a modern refresh that doesnt disappoint its inner city roots and customers. The floor plan is much more open. The decor is modern and sleek, while keeping it local-Oregon based. The menu is much smaller but the food and drink quality remains superb. The atmosphere is inviting as ever. The only problem I have with this place is the SLOW service. You can wait over 10 minutes for a latte and the weird thing is that there is oftentimes no line of customers. I thought it was a one time thing, that maybe they forgot my order, but no, its happened at least four times. I havent yet eaten here, although friends I was with did, and they liked their food. Ive just been in to have tea with friends and family, and it reminds me a bit of the cafe where Friends always met. They have a nice selection of teas and coffees, and a sandwich menu, and desserts that looked really tempting, even to a person who was not ready to eat. There is a comfortable seating area, as well as typical tables and chairs, some local decor, and an almost cafeteria-style atmosphere. They have a station where guests get their own ice water, and you order and pick up your food at the counter. It can get quite loud inside. I wouldnt recommend it for business meetings or book club. The staff behind the counter were friendly enough, but they werent super swift to bus tables - my mom had to wipe off the table we chose to use.I want to give this more than three stars (average) rating, but I really cant until I try the food myself and see.
