East Mississippi Lumber is a great store for hardware supplies. The employees have always gone out of their way to make sure you get what need. If they do not have what you need they will order it and get it to you quickly. However, on multiple occasions I have needed something ‘today’ and assumed they would not have something I needed only to find out they are the only store in town that had what I needed in stock as a result it has now become my first stop. I highly recommend making them your first stop for any hardware needs.

I try to always support local hardware stores over big box stores, and my experience here is usually great, but my experience today was less than satisfactory. I wanted to purchase a simple satin black paint, and went with the color they suggested. When I tested it out, it was not the color I had intended to buy. Most places you buy paint (i.e. Lowes or Sherwin Williams) offer a satisfaction guarantee on their paint, so I figured they would be the same. They would not let me exchange the paint because it was the color I picked out, even though it was the one they suggested. If thats the policy... fine. But they talked to me like it was ridiculous to ask for an exchange because I wasnt satisfied with the color. The gentleman also said I was back and complaining with an annoyed tone over the radio right in front of me. I now wish I had just gone to Sherwin Williams or Lowes for my paint.

Ive really enjoyed shopping here over the years, the employees are helpful and the selection is very nice. The prices are probably a little higher than they are at a big box store, but I like shopping at local businesses so I generally dont mind. I worked at Lowes for quite awhile so I am a bit of a home improvement ~connoisseur~ haha.

A great alternative to Lowes, East Mississippi has a wide variety of supplies. They stock a huge variety of modeling supplies (specifically different species of wood in 4x24 planks and dowells) in addition to the obvious lumber, paint, and fasteners. Great for studio classes and building nice models.

I have been doing business with East Mississippi Lumber for 18 years. As a contractor I like the competitive prices and the quick delivery time. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and will do whatever it takes to make sure you get the right products for the job.

I love this place. Only been once, but their selection is like a combination of Ace Hardware, Lowes, and Hobby Lobby. Theyve got a ton of stuff, from diverse lumber to garden stones to power tools to plumbing supplies. The staff are super friendly and knowledgable, and talk amongst themselves on this secret service style in-ear walkie talkie system to hive-mind their knowledge base. I finally found some woodcarving hand-tools in Starkville at this place.

Excellent CS. People are nice and the whole place has a real Mom and Pop vibe. They have a great product selection too.

After another disastrous experience with Starkville Lowes, that included late delivery and crushed drywall, we gave East Miss Lumber a shot. Drywall was a little more expensive, but delivery was 1/4 the cost of Lowes, and was hand delivered by friendly guys and on time.Happy to shop local and stop being frustrated by Lowes.

Went to buy some plywood and a few other things. Found a store employee which direct me out to the loading area for the wood saying someone would help me there. Asked an employee in the area and was told to go back into the store to find someone else which was in the same area as the person who lead me to the person I was talking to for help. Which I went back into the building saw the same person in i taled to first, so I just had to drive across town to Lowe$ which is where I had to spend my money. Everyone there had not my job attitude on helping a customer. I rather buy at east mississippi lumber company because I live a couple blocks away, but without service I have to drive across town to buy my supplies.
