If you do not have small children, then it is better to dedicate this park after five oclock in the evening. Keep in mind that there are a lot of foxes that come out at this time and there are more of them than people on weekdays. In the evening there are very beautiful landscapes. We love to take photo and video sessions there. I dont know why, but the sky in this park seems to be especially beautiful at sunset.
Super pretty place, I loved the glass pyramid. We visited in winter so we couldnt see anything else except for it, but sleds and snow shoes are available for rent if youre looking for an activity. I wouldve gone sledding down the hill if we had time during our visit. I think this place is prettier in summer when you can see all the art installations. I plan to visit as much as I can in other seasons.
Wow! This is one of the most beautiful parks I have visited. Visiting in winter under snow, shows a very different side of this place. Glass pyramid is a sight to behold. Also you can rent cross country ski equipments. Snow shoes, skis ... Etc extremely picturesque. Grab a sleigh slide and slide down the slopes! Go all the way to the top, a bit tough for the unfit and see the awesome view from there!
Beautiful landscape. A great option for a day trip out of the city of Sapporo. We got some snacks with us and rent a bicycle to get around. There is a bicycle rental post at the park. Bicycle has a lock so you can leave them with no worries if you want to go in the glass pyramid or climb up on of the hills for an observation point. (No bicycle allowed on the trails to the 2 highest observation points in the park)Fountain was closed when we were there due to an earthquake but still it was worth the visit.
Moneruma Park, is a large park located at the outskirt of Sapporo city. A very nice park with the amazing winter view. Not so many people during my visit because its Monday (The glass pyramid building closed to visitor every Monday). By the way, there is a lot of stuff to see such as the Mount Moere, Play Mountain and of course the spectacular view of the snowy winter view of Hokkaido. Since I was from the hot Equatorial climate of Sarawak, Borneo (Malaysia). The snowy winter of Hokkaido never fail to make me wonder!
Danger! You could easily spend your whole day here!! XDCame here last winter. Never regret! Free public park to stroll around! You may even rent a slide or ski to have a go at the small hill~It was so fun just modeling around the park taking awesome pictures!! Definitely a not to miss place when you visit Sapporo!! :)
I fell in love into this Park.Isamu Noguchi created the master plan for one of the best leisure park in the World. So heartbreaking he passed away after he completed the Master Plan in 1988, could not see the final inauguration of this great Park. It’s a privilege to spend free time, reading, jogging, cross-country skiing and having fun with the kids who really enjoy the unique designs of playgrounds and play-mountains.
Very beautiful place thats definitely worth the trip! There isnt much buses that run by this area (nearest one is about 10 minutes away) so be careful not to get lost whilst searching for the entrance. If youre not much of an active person, be prepared to work on those thigh muscles because youre going to walking and climbing alot. The effort to reach the peaks of the hills are worth it though, that I can promise you, because the view at the top is absolutely spectacular. Out of all the parks Ive visited in Sapporo, this one is definitely in my top 5.(Bonus: Theres a bus that links Moerenuma Park to Satoland and Sapporo Beer Museum. Keep a lookout!)
Meow! We came here mid-Jan and the snow was the softest most magical thing! Recc you arrive at East Gate for the Pyramid and Mt Moere, or it is a long walk from West Gate (and a bit scary for me as a small kitty esp when it was snowing heavy!). Rental for snow gear - sleds and skis - available for cheap! I slid down Mt Moere on my bottom - since I am a ninja neko. Such a wonderful space! The Pyramid with its museum is a must for Noguchi fans. Recc riding the elevator from lowest floor (at Noguchi fountain) all the way to 4th floor for the grandest reveal. 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾 10 paws! Meow!
This place is huge. There is no entrance fee which is all the more reason to visit it.To get here you take either bus# 69 or 79 from the Kanjo-Dori Higashi station bus stop, its approximately 25mins in transit. The park has bike rentals on its east entrance near the bus stop. Its around 100yen/hr (as of June 2018) which is relatively cheaper than the other bike rentals Ive experienced in Japan. The place is well-maintained, the first building you will encounter is the glass pyramid which also houses a restaurant to grab a bite from. The whole park can be biked in around 20mins at a leaisurely pace. This is by far one of the best places to visit here in Sapporo.
This place is massive. Just massive. You can do picnic here, you can bring your family here, you can rent a bicycle and just go around all day long -- there is no limit. If you like architecture youd also enjoy the landscape planning here, designed by a renowned Japanese architect.
A very nice park. Lots of photo opportunities. Went there via Taxi (around 2500Yen) from Sakaemachi Station.
Must go if youre in Sapporo, you can see all the mountain ranges from the hill, there are also other attractions like the glass pyramid or you can just chill and play on the park.Take bus 68, 69, 79 from Kajodori-Higashi station to go to the park, you can take other cusses heading back to the bus center from there cost of 210yen
Very nice large park. Just hard to get to by public transport.
Fantastic 360 degrees view of surrounding mountains in the distance, rivers, trees, and the park itself. very windy up on the hill. steep climb. take the stairs
Worth a visit with it unique building design, 40-45 minute drive if you are from sapporo town. Breathe taking scenery once at the top of building of the pyramid glass
The only way to have a bad day here is if you make it so. Its either peaceful or fun and Im sure many people enjoy returning to Moerenuma park after their first visit.
Spectacular views from atop the hills. The Cafe inside the Glass Pyramid has a very well priced lunch bento. There is a fountain show at 10h30m, 13h15m and 16h30m.
Huge park and needed to add a lot more of activities to do here.
Moerenuma Park, a municipal park located in Higashi-ku, Sapporo, Japan. In addition to playgrounds and sports fields, the park features monuments designed by Isamu Noguchi, a Japanese American artist. Visitors can enter the park and use the parking lot for free. Driving is recommended as there are very limited buses. Also, the night water fountain show is unfortunately overrated. Not worth an hour wait. There isnt even any BGM and they spend over half an hour filling the fountain up with water and calls it a 40-min show... nothing close to Las Vegas level. The mounuments, however, are incredible and are worthy of a half day visit.
Interesting park at the outskirts of the city. Designed by a world class sculptor.
It’s been a worthwhile visit!
Access: get the Toho Subway from Sapporo central to Kanjodori-Higashi Station (~¥250) and then transfer to the bus stop behind the station to get a #69 or #79 (~¥280) which run every 20 minutes or so. Check platform for the timetables, or online if you speak Japanese. Then follow the signs to reach the park (~10 mins walk). In the winter most parts are closed. The sledding was fun even for adults but I wouldnt go out of the way to come here in winter.
Great 360° view at the top. Cheaper to buy the subway+bus ticket together if you are coming from Sapporo or Odori.
Free entry, has sleds for free too. Very fun 11/10. Follow the directions on their website to get here.
If you like art and park, this is a good place. This is a little from sapporo.
Love! Must bike!
Nice view and fresh air
- This whole park visit(including observatory deck of glass pyramid) is completely free-It can be reached by bus but the nearest bus stop is around 1 Km away. Nearest bus stops are Moerenuma Koen Higashiguchi, Toyohata, Okadamatekkodanchi & “Moeredanchi”-The park area is huge and during winter it becomes difficult to cover it up all due to heavey accumulation of snow- There is no entry fee-There are many scenic location including the glass pyramid and the top of the small hill(from where it gives you a picturesque view in spring season)-A must visit when in Sapporo
My favourite park. Went one our first day and on our last day. Difficult to get to and back to the city. Few buses.
Bit far from the city center but definitely worth going! In winter the entire place is covered with snow, creating a gorgeous winter wonderland. Just walking around is great but you can also rent ski & toboggan equipment and play around the hill. Do check if the restaurant there will be open when you visit, because if not then I suggest going after lunch or bringing your own lunch so as to not go hungry.
I think as a local I would appreciate this place a bit more than I did as a tourist. Its not bad, just kind of lacking any wow factor. Its great if youre looking for some peace and solitude though. Feels a bit unmaintained as theres lots of places where grass grows through cracks and the concrete and paint has faded. There are so many ravens here I could have been convinced its some sort of bird sanctuary. I was lucky enough to catch the sea fountain long 40 minute program which was neat. Bike rental is cheap and recommended.
Beautiful place, a suitable place to cycle and take a lot of insta shots😁
The park is huge and is used to be a garbage dump.
Very nice park
In the spring this park, a lot of japan people are setting camp under the cherry trees
A nice place to stroll around during summer.
If you seek for a off the beaten path spot, this park is highly recommended! Its a family friendly one and you can enjoy chilling out on the grass. Riding a bike there is so good. You can rent a bike for an hour for 200 yen.
This is a really interesting park, and well worth a visit if you have an appreciation for sculpture or just enjoy walking. Parts of the park (e.g. the glass pyramid, the baseball field) are immaculately maintained, while on the other hand some of the playground areas had an almost abandoned post-apocalyptic vibe, with plants growing wild through the cracks, and some of the ground looking like it had moved since the structures were built (earthquake?) It kind of added to the overall interest of the place though.
Scaleless but wonderful.
Amazing in winter. Had a grand time going down the slope, and the lady at the coffeehouse was so kind to lend sleds, let me listen to old records and have delicious snacks.
Wonderful place in Hokkaido.
Large park with lids of open space. There is a shop on site to purchase food, but options are limited. I recommend buying food on the way and have a picnic in the park. There is also a restaurant but it only serves seafood and is on the more expensive side.My only complaint is that some of the areas are run down. The pyramid looks great but the kids play area is starting to show its age.
I went in November. Theres something quiet beautiful about this park, the design is not like any park Ive been to before. I rode my bike in from central Sapporo, it took about an hour. It was a pretty easy ride, it was flat the whole way there. Theres not much food options there, I would suggest buying some food beforehand and have a picnic there. The autumn foliage is spectacular.
Giant park built on top of former garbage dump full of larger-than-life monuments designed by a renowned architect. Simply amazing. Human-made mountains, Aztec-like pyramids, space-ship sculptures, synthetic beaches. This place epitomizes nature tamed: a human-designed and conceptual interpretation of natural landscapes. Very cool playgrounds for children. By far, one of my favourite places in the city. Makes for awesome pictures.
Peacefull Place!Excellent site view!Nice museum shopExcellent galleryExcellent restaurantI had a lovely journeyモエレ沼公園❤
Nice place in Winter. Not only pyramid glass. Everyone can play ski, sledge(may also rental at pyramid glass).
One of the best places in Hokkaido I visited before
Good weather. Good landscape. Good architecture. Good choice to visit here! Im deeply impressed in Glass Pyramid. It looks like Le louvre museum in France. Amazing dancing fountain is also in the park. The best thing is Japanese children playing in the park greet you very cute.
A very big park and nice to cycle around. However, not many amenities. Adding a cafe would be good.
Simply amazing monumental landscape and buildings. Totally worth a visit and walk aroundThe drive from Sapporo is very easyYou will be amazed by this contemporary landscape design and the scale of the different components of the park and sculpturesThe main building is also very interesting to pay a visit to as its architecture is phenomenal. Check if there is any exhibition going onIf you have kids bring them along as the oark grounds are vast and they will love to run around in the large grass areas or climb up the man made pyramidsDefinitely a different place from what you could be used to see*If this post was useful please kindly 👍 it
In winter, you can take your own sledge or skis. Rental rubber boots are available. Clothes and goggles for skiing will be good. The spring is not working.
It is a park over at a recycle are, The Famous Isamu Noguchi was the Master Plan designer.Peacefull Place!Excellent site view!Nice museum shopExcellent galleryExcellent restaurantI had a lovely journeyモエレ沼公園❤
Really spacious and enjoyable park with a nice view of the city from one of the hilltops. Theres a nice sakura spot also. Bike rentals end at 1600/1700 though
Very nice and tidy park. The art objects are very geometric in nature and are an interesting backdrop for photos.
Worth a drive to the parkWide space to view the surrounding.A good place for a picnic as well to enjoy nature. There are tennis courts and baseball field near by
Highly recommended park if you are in Sapporo. One of our favourite places although its a little out of the city. We arrived a little late and it was getting dark. We liked the peacefulness of this quaint place. Can get the city view when you get to the top of the hill!
Amazing park. It takes a while to get there by public transport but it is well worth the trip. The place is great for a stroll and to see the sculptures and climbing a couple of grassy hills. Great place for kids as they can run around as much as they want and play in the childrens playground. I do recommend to bring a bento as lunch options in or near the park are either expensive or not great.
Lovely to explore on a bike. Definitely recommend cycling up there
Fun, free public park. Although many features are closed during winter, the hill(s) allow a lot of snow.
This stunning park is a little bit out of the way, but well worth this visit. More of an art installation than just your averge park.On my trip it was a cloudy day, which actually made the visit quite pleasant as it was cool enough to comfortably traverse the park several times. The bike rentals were too cheap an opportunity to pass up, though be aware that if youre taller than your average Japanese person, you might struggle to find a bike that fits.
I think it is worth going. It was a bit far by public transportation from Sapporo. The buses dont run often from subway stations. I would recommend to go to the park when it is nice out. The public bathrooms are out of toilet papers. :(
I went to this place in mid March which is still winter and the snow in here is still thick. The snowscape in here is fantastic. Theres a small mountain named Mt Moerenuma that you can climb freely without any special equipment. If you love snow, Ill recommend this place as your place to visit in Sapporo.
Lovely lawn, cherry blossoms, trees and hills... perfect one day trip with family and friends !!
Was there 2017. Amazed by the overall setting, design, ambient of the park. Nice with art, park and the architecture.
My favorite spot in Sapporo! Its a nice retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Relaxing place. Lots of green area. Mt. Moere can by easily climbed via steps (about 200) or through the unpaved slopes. Its a place where you can unwind during weekends.
A bit far from Sapporo downtown but worth the journey, rent a bike and go around the giant lake and climb the hill. A fresh breath of air outside Sapporo downtown
Isamu Noguchi had a vision for a park for children and this is the culmination of his vision. It is an amazing park. It’s a big park and if you’re from New York, it’s what flushing meadow park could be and similar to storm king but you can actually interact with the sculptures. The whole park is interactive, meaning you can climb the hills, have a picnic in the fields, and i have seen kids play in the fountains, etc. I highly suggest renting a bike and ride around the park. It’ll only set you back ¥200 for two hours with an additional ¥100/hr afterwards.
This park is very cool!we visit on winter. You can rent a rubber boots if you want to walking or playing snow in this park. There are no entrance fee
Sledding and cross country skiing.
I want to go back in here because this park is just so beautiful.
Very nice park. In winter the hill is a great place for sledding.
This place had free parking. It was an enjoyable place to take a relaxing stroll. The picturesque small hill which brings climbing visitors to the summit offers a nice view of the city. The climb was managable and should be suitable for kids and physically well elderly. During spring, eagles can be spotted on top of the hill flying. The park has a vast space. Visitors can bring activities to the park, e.g sports and picnics.
Great park. Wonderfull sculptures. The restaurant in the glass pyramid is excellent!
Fantastic park. Rent a bike at the bike rental shop, a short walk from thr main entrace and near the parking lot. Park is very big so definitely rent a bike so you can enjoy and get to see all the sites within the park.
A very beautiful place: park-sculpture. Just rent a bike at entreance (200¥ for 2h) and take a tour and understand what I mean! The big fountain (40 min) show its worth. Free entrance all site.
A park designed by Isamu Noguchi. There is a big fountain, and it blows water like a geyser. It is very impressive, so lets look at it once. Events are held at the pyramid made of glass. It is good to check the web page and then visit.
Very large with lots of playgrounds. Great for all ages.
- Slow pace- Peaceful park- climb to the top to fully enjoy the view
