The Comic Swap is positively the best. John is incredibly knowledgeable about the world of comics, and 100% willing to share that knowledge with anyone who walks through the door. Once I walked in and said I wanted a story-driven fantasy book with a female lead and art that didnt objectify women. I walked out with Echo, by Terry Moore. Absolutely LOVED it. When I moved to Illinois, I couldnt find a comparable small comic shop in town, and so to this day I still get my comics from the Swap. The mail order system they have is excellent. I get a list of my comics and the costs that I approve, then they come in the mail! Its super easy to add or remove books to my order. I also have an awesome deal with John where he sends me a book he thinks I might like with each order, so I can get exposed to new stuff just like I would if I was able to go to the shop in person. Love this place.

Great staff! Always super friendly and ready to offer a suggestion. The Swap has a great selection of comics, and if they dont have something on the shelf, they are more than happy to order you a copy! If you are into comics (or gaming), this is the place to go in Happy Valley.

Maybe it was a good place once upon a time. Not that great of a selection. The guy running the place was being loud and annoying while my kid and i were in there. Felt like he wanted us to leave. I bought about $70 worth of comics and he proceeded to stack and slam them into the counter like they were business papers. WILLIAMSPORT and LWEISBURG have much better stores and service. Dont waste your time here.

Great store. The staff was helpful. Trying to get my 4 year old to share my addiction of comics. They even have a Scooby Doo comic! They also have a decent tabletop game and d&d selection. Will definitely be back!

My personal favorite place for dungeons and dragons along with comic/manga related things, they also tcg stuff like mtg. I visit as often as I can and staff there is so kind and just all around great people, even better yet prices on everything are amazing. I recently picked up a copy of the alternative artwork Icewind Dale book released for dungeons and dragons and I didnt have to pay for the preorder until I picked it up! Wish I could give more then just a review to this amazing establishment.

(The owner doesnt seem to be that personable (i dont like shopping in places with grumpy employees), but hes not there too often so as long as John is there, i freaking love the place! )

Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff, this place has tons of comics and graphic novels, especially used ones at very good prices. But the board game selection is miniscule and lacking, and board game prices are not competitive. Great for comics / graphic novels, not so much for board games.

This shop is the bright point of my week. The staff are knowledgeable and nice and I always look forward to talking to them. I started subscribing with just one comic and my list has only grown. Theyll hold comics for a month if youre too busy to pick up and order things they dont have in stock.

I love this place. They always know me when I come in, know exactly what Im looking for, and even know what I dont /know/ Im looking for. Its always nice to have friendly comic book enthusiasts who dont judge when I dont know /everything/ about /every/ comic book, and theyre so excited to learn about stuff that youre into that they might not have heard of yet! Their hours are a little confusing so I miss them sometimes but theyre readily available on Google so thats no ones fault but my own. Ill be in to get my Spideypool for the month soon, guys, I promise!

Still an amazing under ground book store and graphic novel emporium.

Highly recommend. I needed assistance finding comic books, which might motivate my elementary-aged boys to read. They provided excellent guidance to the age-appropriate section, and gave me a good overview and in-depth opinion of their inventory.

I love this place. I stopped by for my first time this weekend, and the selection and service was incredible! I was looking for a specific comic, and the man working there (I wish I wouldve gotten his name!) was so helpful. He helped me find the first few issues, and he even preordered the rest and let me pick which cover variants I wanted. These guys clearly are passionate about what they do, and they want to help you find your next favorite comic. Ill definitely be coming back on a regular basis for all my comic, D&D and MtG needs.

This store has a wide variety of both games and comics. The staff is very knowledgeable about both, and there are defiantly some good deals to be had. The game selection range from Pokémon, Magic, European style board games, to new things I’ve never heard of. The store runs Friday Night Magic, and is a good place to go for prereleases and launch parties. Sometimes they have nights they just bust open new games and demonstrate them. Everyone I’ve talked to behind the counter has been super friendly. Right in the middle of State College its really convenient, and now is the only place I need to go for both comics and games.

Ive been shopping at the Comic Swap for about ten years now. I have always been very happy with their selection and their service. Even with staff changes, they always provide a welcome greeting, and are very helpful. I have found them to be very knowledgeable and able to recommend comics and games for a wide variety of different ages and interests.They offer comics, graphic novels, manga, board games, CCGs, RPGs, and more.

Seems like a good *COMIC* store, but dont go here for FNM.They have the most hostile, restrictive, and unpleasant FNM Ive ever been to. The staff running the event makes it very clear that he doesnt want to be there and he gets downright rude if you make a round go to turns.
