Mark Ross was an amazing person who had such a passion for music! I always look forward to my chats with Mark who was a well traveled musician with lots of great road stories. I look forward to meeting the new owner who I heard has the passion much like Mark did.RIP Mark and LETS GO BUCS
I had a vintage amp that needed to be repaired and a friend told me I had to go to Alley Cat. My amp has never sounded better! Best prices and so many years of experience! Amazingly kind, competent, and honest people. I won’t go anywhere else.
Marks a great guy and knows his guitars and equipment. Hes also just fun to be around. The store is well stocked with everything youd ever need.
AMAZING owner. AMAZING service. The owner is still very passionate about music and sharing what his encyclopedia of guitar knowledge even if you are not buying lessons... bought my first guitar from here when they had their old location. LIFE CHANGING. They have always treated me so well with negotiable prices and tips even though Ive never paid for lessons here.. such a good vibe here to start or maintain your own musical journey.
I never got his name, but when I came to the store the guy working there was very friendly and helpful for finding what I needed for my guitar.
Mark really knows his stuff, and is a great guy! Good selection, great prices. I bought a used electric and new amp from him and they have been stellar.
Ive been playing guitar for several years, but I took a guitar lesson here and was really thrilled by what I was able to pick up. Also, their selection of guitars is outstanding for a store their size, and they are hands-down the best dealer of G&L guitars in the region, possibly even the best state. A great (and welcoming!) experience through and through.
You wont find hundreds of guitars here, but Mark makes sure everything is quality. Usually plenty of vintage or used amps, plus the custom Barker amps. You can usually get a proper deal here and any questions you had answered. Great place.
Mark the owner is super knowledgable and helpful. Happy I stumbled upon this gem of a store while I was in town.
Local, honest, and helpful.I am a pianist who has decided to pick up the acoustic guitar again after a decade away from the guitar. I was pretty apprehensive about buying a guitar and just going into another realm (guitars) that I do not know much about. Mark, the owner and well-known local guitarist, and Sarah immediately put me at ease. Alley Cat Music is an intimate shop, with many guitars in my price range (~$300), and it felt like I was immediately among old friends. The three of us sat, talked and told stories for an hour or so while I played a half dozen different guitars. In the end, and based on my playing style (thats using style graciously, ahem) we picked out a lovely-sounding acoustic dreadnought made by Teton. The entire process could not have been more encouraging and assuring. Thank you Mark and Sarah. Heres to many more years of creating and sharing music for all of us.
A good place to buy a nice guitar
