The staff was super friendly and answered all questions nicely. Gave samples quick and helped pick my Gelato favors! The gelato was supper good and mindblowing awsome flavors. The daily flavors change so you get to try new and tounge blasting flavors. Also their waffle cones and Bannana splits are out of this world perfect. Want to try their Hot Chocolate next time looked amazing!!!

Lots of non-standard flavors with many locally sourced ingredients. Gelato, ice cream and sorbet - they are all good. Limited parking and seating but a great stop if you are walking along Beverly. Interior design is a throw back to older ice shops. Staff is friendly and patience! Sometimes its hard to decide - all the flavors are great!

They have a nice selection of ice cream and several sorbets. We tried the sorbet and it was delicious and very refreshing for a hot day. You could also smell the fresh waffle cones when you walked in the door, which (as a person who has worked in an ice cream shop myself) is one of my signs of a great place. I also watched them mixing a new batch of chocolate ice cream while we ate.

Delicious and nice variety of flavors! You must get the waffle cone or bowl, they are all handmade right in front of you. I enjoyed the habanero chocolate with a scoop of sticky rice vanilla......I want it again but Im 600 miles away! Yummy!

In a word… yum. Once I had gelato, there was no turning back to ice cream. Well, I do still eat ice cream, but how can you turn down something as thick, dense, and yummy as gelato?Icing on the cake, this store sources their milk locally from grass fed cows. No extra additives or fillers. And, they make their own stuff.I sampled a few flavors before settling on sticky rice and peppermint bark. I was happy with both flavors that were clear in taste and texture.The shop was small but fun. Fast and friendly service. They have window too if you just want to grab something on the go. Will definitely be back!

Ice cream was great had Nutella and it did not disappoint. Plus the employee had great taste in Hawaiian shirts as he complemented the one i had on. Go get your desert from this place if in town.

A very disappointing evening, my wife had planned a date night for dinner and we went to the Split Banana for some dessert. The website said open till 10:00 p.m. we drive there park and walk to the business and theres a sign on the door saying closed at 5:00 p.m. that would have been something nice to have shared on the website before a half hour drive in a 10 minute walk to the business.

The gelato was delicious and employees friendly. Reasonable prices for gelato made right at the store. The board showing where their ingredients are sourced from was neat.

I went to The Split Banana and picked up a few pints of gelato given wed be staying in Staunton for a few days. Everything is so good! We tried hazelnut, toasted almond, and the Highland maple because.. decisions were hard. Theyre very safe with social distancing, tables outside, hand sanitizer right where you come up to order, and everyone was friendly. It looks like itd be a lovely place to sit inside as well when things get to that point. For now, will be happily (probably quickly) continuing to enjoy the pints. :)

Delicious ice cream!

I was turned away Sunday August 2 and could not understand why . There was a man who ordered in front of us as we got to the place . The lady waited on him she went back in the place and as we were waiting, the 3 of us ( elderly) clearly had our masks on . Was told that they just closed 😡 . Walked away and noticed that when we were walking up the street on the other side, noticed that several people came up . The lady greeted them and ordered and sit down and received there order .😡is it a policy to turn away elderly people? We clearly was following current policy of wearing masks and distance . Hope you don’t turn away elderly. We will not be coming back to your place . Will go to other ice cream places in the area . Your hours are posted on web site ? Do you change them week by week or do they stay the same .

I took my 91 y.o. mom up to her favorite place, the mountains for her birthday. Had a scrumptious dinner and finished it off with some delicious Gelato. I got my usual Black Raspberry and my mom got the Maple Walnut. Both were so delicious 😋😋. It was as good as the Gelato we got in Paris.

This place was great. Nice outdoor seating to people watch, but also had both bar seating and or tables. Definitely room to bring a big family. The gelato was freaking awesome. They do small batch manufacturing, and I cant describe the potency of the flavor, but I will say my date wouldnt share a single morsel of hers....it was that good. I had the apple pie and the hunks of apples, drizzled in cinnamon, mixed with the creaminess....dear lord.

This place came highly recommended by pretty much every website reviewing the Staunton area, so of course we had to try it, and they did not disappoint. The space is perfect, right in the middle of downtown, with big and small tables for lots of kids or couples on a date (🙋🏻‍♀️). First, the selection is great- not overwhelmingly big (please don’t make me pick between 927 ice cream flavors) but so interesting (sticky rice, pineapple basil, m&m birthday cake...) and every one was amazing. My husband is a cookies and cream fan, and after trying this one, he immediately ordered a double scoop, saying repeatedly that this was the best cookies and cream he had ever had. We went last night, and he’s STILL talking about it this morning, and he’s not even much of an ice cream guy! Definitely worth a visit, we may even return tonight!

So good! Fresh made gelato in a beautiful historic building. Ingredients are locally sourced whenever possible and combined in classically nostalgic or inventive flavor combinations. My family and I go whenever possible.

A cute little place in a very walkable downtown, they have great flavors that arent too sweet made with local ingredients. The staff is friendly and the smell divine. REALLY good ice cream. Ive recently had the apple flavor, the butter pecan, cookies & cream, and the lemon basil. all were very good. their butter pecan and cookies & cream might be my favorite version of those two flavors.

Crafting gelato daily, with milk from Homestead Creamery, youll find good scoops here. Most ingredients are locally sourced. Flavors change regularly. Ive had better gelato in Italy but itll hit the spot.

This is a cute little gelato place. Big plus is that (pre-pandemic anyway) their hours dont change during the winter - they are open til 11pm. That was great when I attended MBU and everywhere else was closed. Their gelato flavors are a mix of classics and creative flavors. They definitely have the best hot chocolate in town. It can get a little echo-y, especially during busy hours, but outdoor seating is available too. You can also buy tubs of their gelato to take home.

Lovely local place, changes flavors often. Wish they had the little sugar cones instead of cake cones. Always nice employees. Limit of 4 free tastes. The banana split is phenomenal...get to choose 3 flavors! The scoops are a bit small, but cant complain too much, its gelato :)

Didnt like the ice cream at all. We were hoping for a more traditional selection as we arent concerned with organic or gluten free or sugar free or lactose free or locally sourced or anything like that, especially when getting a treat. We wont go back because its just not our thing.

Went here one evening after for a sweet treat. Its not actually traditional ice cream which was what I was thinking it was but its actual gelato an Italian style ice cream which was very very good. I small is two scooped and fairly reasonable pricing! It was super busy and very popular as I can tell. Every time I drove by its always full of people! They offer more than just ice cream, they also have sundaes, floats, milkshakes, and even coffee!

They have excellent gelato in local flavors like highland county Maple. Its a nice place to stop when walking around downtown in the evenings. Its open until 10 so you have plenty of time to get there after a nice dinner.

Interesting and delightful flavor combinations with an ever-changing and seasonal menu. You can even take some home in pint or quart containers. Plus, The Split Banana has a fun, retro vibe, and is located right on the main street, which makes it a perfect place to take a break while browsing and shopping the unique businesses in downtown Staunton.
