Wonderful trails. Beautiful lake that you can go kayaking and fishing

Very nice visitor center. Lots of interesting Wisconsin history facts. Like a mini museum. Awesome rocking chairs with a view of the woods. Large gift shop.

A fantastic green space. The upgrades they have been making are wonderful.

Deer come really close to people! It is a well-maintained, beautiful, and peaceful park. I strongly recommend it. We walked on our way to the Upper Peninsula and stopped in Stevens Point just to have another walk in this park.

I love this park. They are very concerned about the health of the forest even if it means cutting down some trees to destroy an infestation of undesirable insects or bacteria. They also take excellent care of the gravel trails and wooden boardwalks. A true jem in Stevens Point.

Beautiful grounds, excellent hiking..I saw 4 deer, lots of butterflies, a snake, other small critters. Friendly and informative staff. I will be visiting here often while visiting the area!

Absolutely beautiful nature preserve. Schmeeckle has many of Wisconsins animals for people to view from the convenience of a gravel trail.

Beautiful trails, fun and engaging programs, and peaceful wildlife. We have gone many times as a family and our children enjoy being there. They run various free programs throughout the year and also sponsor many free events for the community. We always have an amazing time when we visit.

It offers a beautiful walk through the woods and around a small lake, where people were ice fishing the end of February. The trails were not cleared of snow, so not w/c accessible, but the snow was packed down and it was easy walking with hiking boots. A variety of paths allowed for short or long walks. The visitor center has a small shop with snacks, books, cups, clothing etc., an exhibitions that tells about the history of the area, and a sunroom for bird watching. Overall very kid friendly and the perfect activity to fight cabin fever in the winter.

There is ample parking and the natural area is lovely.

Always great, knowledgeable Staff here. Theres a Natural History Museum, Conservation Hall of Fame, porch with benches for picnics, a meeting room with projector and other amenities, and a gift shop with some local critters. Always fun to visit! UWSP students also have programs here often so ask Staff about upcoming programs!

The Schmeeckle Visitor Center is a great resource for people of all ages to explore the natural resources. The gift shop has some really great merchandise and the staff are always friendly and helpful, willing to help visitors with any questions or concerns they may have. My favorite aspect of the visitor center is the animals on display in the gift shop, mostly Diablo the tiger salamander. The bull frog is also pretty neat; you can sometimes get him to jump at your finger as if its a worm.Overall, the visitor center is a lovely headquarters for both Schmeeckle Reserve and the Green Circle. Stop in on your next visit!

Schmeekle Forest Reserve is not what it seems on paper, words alone can not fully describe this plot of forest. This areas is ran by the University of Steven point Wisconsin and not by a state branch, meaning there goals are different. Plenty of programs for all ages and a natural trail system that winds through out the reserve. This also valued resource to the college of natural resource and I personally have done research here.Some events as the candlelight hike are an iconic attraction that many residents come to visit. I return often and will be proud to assist this reserve.

Beautiful and big place to go hiking.

Fall in Central Wisconsin is always more beautiful when in the company of one of our many bodies of water. This beautiful piece of heaven is bike/walk/run friendly. You will see some of our many species of birds. Watch the deer drink from the many streams. Kid and family friendly. Free to the public.

It gives a place to buy cool stuff for a place I already liked and has a small museum alongside bathrooms and a water bottle filler. Air conditioned, too. Great stop while hiking through the main reserve.

Schmeekle is a beautiful place to take a walk and enjoy the outdoors when you are in the city of Stevens Point. Please remember that no dogs are allowed. They have an informative visitors center and a great gift shop. I have gotten a lot of unique items over the years for gifts.The UWSP students often lead educational hikes and they have fun nighttime candlelit walks a couple of times a year. Definitely a place to stop and explore.

Theres a visitor center and lots of hiking trails, a man made Lake, and tons of nature and animals to enjoy. Went on a candlelight hike tonight with 400 carved pumpkins along the trail.

Awesome facility! Always so many fun and interesting items for sale and to observe! Always some type of activity going on, theyre always improving the trails and surrounding area!

Amazing Reserve in the center of a city. Eco friendly. Family oriented, open 8 to 5 daily pretty much all year round. Candlelight hikes for spring and fall.

Had a great walk on the trails and boardwalks. We saw a lot of wildlife including deer, muskrat and a pair of Canadian Geese with their goslings.

It was the parking spot for those going on the Wisconsin Wetland Association field trip. The reserve hosts many activities. On the day we visited they had a group of school kids who were learning how to band birds.
