4stars because the server was great and recovered me as a customer, its not hard to cook an over medium egg especially if you run breakfast restaurant, someone besides the customer, Cook/expo/food runner, should have seen that the eggs were completely over cooked .... really over cooked. Our server Layla did a great job in service recovery. The portions are large for the money, the food tasted great, but when you cant get an egg cooked properly, it ruins the whole experience. My wifes food in the picture was perfect and very tasty. We will be back, buy only because Laylas service was excellent!!!
First impressions are always important, they set the tone. While the building Sunset Bistro is in may have a few years on her the caretaking is obvious, clean exterior and parking, immaculate interior. A ready selection of serve yourself coffee makes it feel like home! The menu has a wide selection of breakfast and lunch items! I went with the country fried steak breakfast, with over easy eggs, potatoes and biscuit. The food arrived hot ( the potatoes were plated a bit too early, but they were still warm ) the eggs were cooked properly with a perfectly runny yolk and no white. The biscuit was a star all on its own, likewise the potatoes had been given proper attention with the addition of peppers and onion. Its important to note as well the sausage gravy was delicious, no extra grease, and perfect on the salt. Some of the best Ive had in the entire Charleston area! The country fried steak was exactly what youd expect, tender, flavorful, again balanced on seasoning and salt. I worried the salt of the gravy combined with the country fried steak would be too much, glad to say I worried unnecessarily. Im looking forward to a return trip to Sunrise to give a review of future meals!
Very nice place, the smell of coffee is a wonderful greeting when you walk in. And a good choice at the coffee bar. Food was delicious and service was friendly. Definitely going back to try more of everything!
Surprisingly great and cozy place for brunch. The service was great! I had the Flower Town Veggie Omelette with Toasted Herb Bread (see pic.). Delicious!
Food was very good. Fresh jalapeños instead of pickled, friendly staffed. Size of the soft drinks was really big and also offered a to go drink. Highly recommend this place
My first time here and it was amazing. The food was on point and the service was great. She had a wonderful smile and her boyfriend is a 49ers fan also which is a plus. (Lol) but she did a great job and we will be back very soon. When we do I hope we get her again. I am sorry we forgot her name. She told us she was new but she did a great job. Thank you.
Hamburger overcooked and on dry no condiment bun. Service was great though. Would not deliver a muffin with a candle in it for our guest birthday by order if manager. Two young waitress es had awesome smiles, good attitude
I love it, I love it, it’s a taste of something a little different from the norm. Homemade, definitely beats chains like Denny’s, Ihop etc. well it’s hard for most to top Cracker Barrel’s pancakes, but other than that, you gotta check it out. The one in Summerville, that’s the one we stumbled upon.
What a great spot out here in Summerville! Found this place Sunday while looking to go and get some breakfast and I am glad this popped up on my radar! Great place with great service. Very friendly atmosphere! Now the food, oh good lord the food! It was delicious! Everything was cooked perfectly and nice and steamy when I got it! I got the fried chicken and grits! It did not disappoint! I will definitely be back! They also have a coffee bar with about 5 different kinds of coffee you can choose from! Just go on up and get what youd like!Fried chicken with sausage gravy, eggs, grits, and toast! 👍👍📸 @forked_by_marino
Food was alright by eggs Benedict was Luke warm some of the coffee in cups that were dirty but the place was pretty clean
The Jamaican me crazy coffee is genuinely the best coffee Ive ever had. They also have the best shrimp and grits around since Hen & Goat closed. Get the fried chicken biscuits and gravy, trust me, its fantastic. Get anything, its all fantastic
Best sit down breakfast in Summerville! Great service, very friendly and awesome food! Very reasonable prices and the coffee bar is great!
Great place! Shrimp and grits was great! Second time going, love visiting when i travel home.
Food was good. Service was adequate. I had an encounter with manager because my bill indicated something I didnt get. Didnt appreciate the debate and the lack of effort to resolve issue. What happen to the customer is right? Too many restaurants around to not offer better customer service. Being in SC its difficult to not consider the race card in instances like this.
My family and I LOVE going here for breakfast! We all enjoy the food, coffee and service! Its a Mom and Pop type of place which makes it a great place to eat! The coffee is unlimited, you can get your own cup as many times you want. They also have different flavor coffee so you can try something new each time. Theres outdoor seating if you want to enjoy the outdoors. Sometimes you can catch live music being preformed here while eating. It can get pretty packed on the weekend so get here before the crowd does! Their food is so good and at an awesome price. I would try out this place if you are in the area!
The entrees came out hot and made to order. The service was a little off from the first time earlier this year. Overall I would recommend this spot for a great meal.
Waitress was friendlyGood excellentI had crabby shrimp n grits 😋
If youre looking for the best breakfast in town, this is it! Absolutely amazing, best down home cooking!
The food is Great! The service was fast and friendly.
We had breakfast, eggs, waffles, crispy bacon. Pricing was good, staff friendly, but it did take awhile to get the food or as it was carry out, I was in a hurry. Would recommend
The food is so good you won’t be disappointed. A local friend took me to this place. When we first arrived I was like “what the heck was this building before?” It was a club - as in night club with music and dancing, etc (won’t let my imagination go too far with that). But don’t let history define the current reality. The food is delicious. I had the chorizo grits bowl and it was incredible. Their grits are probably the best I’ve ever had. The service is friendly. The prices are pretty fair for what you get. The environment is interesting when you know the history, and it is easily ignored while you’re eating such great food.
I saw the pictures of the food online with reviews that raised my expectations so high. We drove 30 minutes to this restaurant and we’re VERY disappointed! The dryness is real! The biscuits were very very dry and not even a pat of butter was on It. I ordered the corned beef hash and got a very large portion of a store-bought shredded potatoes and slices of “corned beef”. It all tasted very bland with roasted bell peppers from the can. The bread on the grilled cheese was very dry and sharp that it could rip your mouth. The grits bowl was not good either. We regretted traveling the whole way there and also spending all that money for that. I don’t think whoever is making that food is a trained chef. I hope they make changes to the quality of their food.
We had Joe for our server and he was great! He was very funny and friendly and really seemed to enjoy his job. The food was very good.
Great food, good coffee selection and good service. Great spot for brunch and a carafe of mimosa.
This place is awesome great menu super nice employees. I got an item off their special of the day menu and it was the best omelet iv ever had. Would strongly recommend
Food & atmosphere was great (1st time visiting) will visit again soon.
Delicious food!! Service slightly slow but well worth it. I would definitely go back.
Homemade BAGELS! Their bagel melt was delicious & quick. Priced in line with bagel shops so worked perfectly for me needing to grab a quick breakfast and who doesnt like scallion cream cheese with a tomato ...
Excellent food and service! Breakfast was delicious!!! Fair prices. Enjoyed!
Super good food and quick service
Food was delicious, and Im upset that the plate looked so good that I dug in right before I realized I should have taken a picture cause I was well plated 🤌🤌
1st time visiting Sunrise. We were greeted warmly at the door and our server Dominique (hope the spelling is right) was awesome. The grits were awesome and the open face western omelet was great. Nice people and good food. Well definitely be back.
We have been wanting to go to Sunrise Bistro in Johns Island for a long time but have never made it. Recently while in Summerville we decided to check it out. Hubby wanted breakfast and I wanted lunch. This place offers both at the same time. I had a Reuben. It was corned beef which was plentiful. I should have asked for it to be grilled which is how I like it. It was very good though. Hubby wanted coffee to go with his breakfast (which he enjoyed) They have a nice coffee bar where you can get your own. There were around 4 choices. Our server was excellent. Wish I recalled her name. She was very attentive. It took a while to get our order. Seems like it was the same for all the customers. No one was complaining though. Many of them stated that it was their first time there too. We read somewhere online that they served dinner on Friday and Saturday. I asked the waitress and she stated they stopped that service because they didnt get enough business. Personally, I would have like that. Wish I had known they offered it. We will go there again.
It was delicious. You get a very generous amount of food for your Buck. The service was quick and accurate. Will be returning soon!!!
Excellent breakfast restaurant!Have any of the open face omelets.
I feel like Sunrise needs to advertise, because EVERYBODY needs to be enjoying their interesting and well-prepared food! We always are pleased with the chefs creations; they are flavorful and beautifully prepared. Prices are fair and the service is friendly and prompt. Please take a trip out and prepare to be well-fed.
Im there weekly for a networking meeting and the food never disappoints. My family has been frequenting Sunrise Bistro since it opened. My favorite is their Bacon Caprese Omelet but I do try other items and havent been disappointed. Lunch items are great as well. Portions are great. You will not leave hungry! Friendly staff, clean bathrooms and I love the local feel it has to it.
Favorite place in the world for brunch with the kids. Coffee is incredible!
Today, This morning I treated a co-worker to breakfast. I ordered Corned Beef Hashshredded potatoes, sliced corned beef, onions, and peppers, 2 eggs on top with toast ($11) for myself and a*Half-Pound Breakfast Burger one sunny egg, cheddar, bacon, kaiser roll, grits or potatoes ($12) for my co-worker. I called in my order at 8:00am hoping that it would be ready when I arrived at the restaurant to it up. I paid at 8:14am. It wasnt and after waiting another 8 minutes, I received my order at a total costs of $29.44, which included an 18% Automatic Gratuity My co-worker enjoyed his food. My food was not as enjoyable. The corned beef was chewy not tendered. The shredded hash brown potatoes were not very seasoned or tasty. I had previously enjoyed the Shrimp and Grits, but this was not an overall good experience.
What a delight! Weve heard good things about this place and have been wanting to try it. It is tucked away and doesnt look like much from the outside. Inside is nice, clean and modern. Coffee bar is great! Jamaican me crazy was delicious! We were sat right away by the friendly waitress. I ordered the breakfast burrito and my wife ordered the flower town veggie omelet. Food came out fresh and hot! Everything tasted great! This place tastes like grandma is cooking; a very wholesome taste thats hard to describe. To me it seems like they use real ingredients; eggs, butter and what not. You can tell when places use egg beaters or commercially used food products. This place doesnt seem to. My burrito was checked full, tastes great and the potatoes were on point! My wifes omelet was equally delicious and the toast on the side was really good! I want more people to know about this place and at the same time I dont; I want to keep it to ourselves! A very delicious and friendly breakfast place. Will come again!
I love coming here because it is a great brunch spot with plenty of room. We never had a long wait or wait at all when coming here. The food is great and has a coffee bar with many choices.
10$ for an omelette. Not bad, right? Its basically just a fried egg, maybe two, topped with diced tomato onion and pepper. Last I checked... thats a fried egg with stuff on top, not an omelette.Chicken and Waffles were advertised on the site which is why we went there. It turns out theyre seasonal additions. I normally love Shrimp and Grits, but even this was disappointing.Pros - AtmosphereCons - Food wasnt great, over-priced for what was offered.
Great food! Didn’t like the drinks. Iced tea was weak. Love a good coffee bar but took the wind out of my sails with a weak house brew and flavors like ‘candy bar’ and ‘birthday cake’. Can tell when a coffee bar is run by somebody who isn’t a real coffee drinker
Long story short, not one employee asked us for our order after sitting for 15 minutes. And please note that the lady you have training new employees is teaching them to ignore customers. We told her no one had taken our order and she then just proceeds to jabber on about something else.
Food was great, waiter was wonderful, unlimited coffee, their own brews large selection. Comfortable atmosphere, clean including bathroom.
We absolutely LOVE our server Dominique ❤. She is the highlight of our week every Saturday. One of the reasons we keep coming back
My go to for breakfast in Summerville, Chelsea and her team do a great job!!
Never knew this place existed so for my 1st time there the food was great & priced well. Ill return
Amazing food, best coffee bar around. Quick service. Couldn’t be more happier, glad we chose to skip Waffle House n ihop for a change
Girls Bunch and we decided to try this spot. We had French Toast Sandwich---Smoked Salmon Omelet---Crabby Shrimp & Grits---She Crab Soup and of course a Mango Mimosas Carafe. The She Crab Soup was bland, too thick, you could taste the flour and Im still looking for the crab. The French Toast Sandwich was good and per the menu it came with grits; however, we were charged then told the menu was incorrect. Okay, it was only a dollar but why are we paying for the establishments mistake and how many other customers did the same. The Crabby Shrimp & Grits should be renamed Shrimp & Grits because the look and taste of crab should be prominent in the dish. Lastly, the Smoked Salmon Omelet and the Mango Mimosas were the stars of the show....yummy! As for our waitress, first rule of Waitressing 101---learn or know your menu!
Amazing Food..super long wait
I love this place! It’s a simple, casual breakfast/brunch restaurant that has an awesome menu selection. It’s also a great place to go for Sunday brunch after church (they are good about keeping guest off long wait times).
Loved it! Food was great and they accommodated our family of 7. We didnt want to be crammed in with the masses so they put us in an area with lots of open tables. Well definitely be back!
Great atmosphere. The food was good.
The food was really delicious. Dont let the exterior fool you, the food is a little more upscale and classy than the outside would suggest. We came for Sunday brunch and enjoyed our meals. Only issue we had was our sons meal wasnt put it a the same time and it took a long time for it to come out. But that happens.
Always get great service here. If you enjoy shrimp and grits for breakfast they have some of the best varieties.
I got the Texas Stacker with a side of House Potatoes. The portions are large and, most importantly, the food is fantastic!! The grits are wonderfully creamy and the eggs are always cooked to perfection. The biscuits are moist, fluffy and flavorful. We have also had the vegetable open faced omelette and the vegetables are very fresh and, again, the eggs are cooked perfectly. The service is very friendly. You can serve yourself at the coffee/tea bar. Very casual, Mom & Pop atmosphere. Ample parking.
Had the burrito and grits.Clean and mostly friendly atmosphere.
This place has now become one of my favorites. Service was prompt and always with a smile. We were greeted promptly at the door and by every person who passed the host stand to ensure that we were being helped. We were seated in a cozy table in a corner. The tables are perfectly spaced apart, so our 3 year old was able to run laps around our table to entertain herself. Mia, our server was amazing. She helped guide us through the menu and pointed out the coffee which is the best idea ever! They have various flavored coffee and a regular plain as well if you feel less adventurous. The portions were perfectly sized, and each entree can fill you up easily. All in all, it was a great experience. We cannot wait to come back again soon.
They had the audacity of serving burnt ham, grits was so thick and gritty, needed more time to cook. We asked to bring us the muffin first before the breakfast and after 15 minutes we had one muffin and the wrong order.
Placed order ahead and ready when I arrived!Staff was friendly and attentive! My 3 meat shrimp and grits was absolutely delicious 😋Will definitely be back
Surprised me. Better than I thought it might be very nice.
Love this place! So much food, nd very gd!!! Good service
Love it here..worth the 20 min wait to get in!
This was our second visit. I tend to be that guy who posts reviews of places that I enjoy in hopes of letting others know about it. Seldom do I post negative reviews. Im torn on this one. Overall, it wasnt a good experience. Lets get that out front. There were definitely not enough staff to cover the front of the house. The servers were busting their collective butts trying to keep up while being courteous with their customers. My French Toast was cold and tough. My side order of sausage came later instead of with the food. My wifes omelet was over cooked and tough. Her toast finally arrived as she was finishing up. Terrible? Nope, but annoying.Recap:Servers - AKitchen - CManagement - D
Best breakfast I’ve had in a long time! Wonderful variety and great customer service!
Great breakfast menu with many options. Our food was really good. We had the country fried steak and the Old Trolley Farmers omelet. What it lacks in decor it makes up with great food and great service. We will be back.
This place is amazing! My boyfriend and I just finished having breakfast here and I couldnt wait to leave a review! Our server, Dakota, was wonderful and very sweet. The food was amazing! The atmosphere was very welcoming and while there were a lot of people there, it wasnt loud at all. Everyone was so kind!
Absolutely delicious food. Atmosphere is quaint and employees are so nice.
Really good breakfast, fresh!
It was great! We will return.
This place and food was amazing our waiter Joe made it even better, restaurants need more people like him!
I tried their pumpkin pancake special.... they dont usually have pancakes. My first batch was doughy but the next batch was perfect. I will definitely be back.
Shrimp and grits was amazing!
Stood in line for 15m waiting for a table. Owner was complaining he didnt have enough staff to clean tables. And a waitress stood there talking to some people that were in line waiting for a table also for like 5m. Im thinking she should be cleaning tables or something to help us get seated. There was like 10 people in line. All the while I was looking at clean tables. We were sat down at a high top table that rocked so much. I actually asked for another table. They wanted to put us at another high top that rocked just as bad. I asked if we could just sit at a regular table. They didnt have any available they said. As we walk out were looking at empty tables. We didnt stay and eat there. I was to put off by the service. Im sorry but for the prices you have pay and you have to get up to get your own coffee (thats how they have it set up) I wasnt impressed with this place. I have been there before . The food is good but the service sucks. You get better service at Burger King.
Food was not good at all. I was disappointed.
Great service and really good food. Definitely recommend you check it out.
A favorite breakfast spot!
