There is one thing that Mclendons always gets right is their product selection. One drawback to this is by having a large product selection they sometimes have a very limited supply of each product on hand so items are out of stock a little to often.BUT, if you need a gadget for that thing that your remodeling they probably have it.I think they are the only place I have ever seen a 4 switch and a duplex receptacle trim plate in black, ivory and I believe the white one was out of stock.Anyhow, keep it up guys. Some times those hard to find items are needed and its nice to have a place locally that you can go and get friendly professional help to boot.

Ive shopped at and loved this store for years and have got to say Ive been severely disappointed by my experience trying to get a small quantity (4) small window screens made. Several mistakes have been made along the way as Ive been passed from employee to employee who makes me feel like everything aside from a priority. When Ive asked basic questions, I dont know has been the best response anyone could mutter. Communication is clearly not a strength in this department and no one has given me a reason to trust that my very reasonable expectations will be met. I will absolutely be shopping/ordering elsewhere for future projects.

I was looking for a lamp socket to repair a favorite old lamp. They didnt have it at the big box stores so I headed to McLendon Hardware in Sumner. I was amazed at the selection of sockets, knobs, chains, switches, and other lamp hardware to choose from. While I was searching for the part I needed a store associate walked down the aisle and asked if he could help. I showed him the part I needed and he found the replacement straight away. McLendon also offers a military discount.

Best hardware store I am aware of in my area, speaking as an Auburn resident. Their garden section is out of control; huge selection, and maintained by someone that definitely has a green thumb. Ive NEVER seen fuchsias like this at any other store. Like...dang. The thing barely fit in my car!

The ONLY real hardware store chain left. Not a Big Box very general supply on the shelf place. The people working here actually know what they are talking about. They have people who understand Plumbing, electrical and hardware. Great location.

Walked in and out in 10 minutes. Thy had the fan motor I needed right where I thought it should be. Neither of the National Chain stores had it in stock, requires a 5 day wait for delivery. Not these Guys! What I need when I need it. Thats what I get from a local store

I want to thank Donnell for going out of her way to help me. I called to see if they had any Sod in. She asked how much I needed .She then took the time to go out and physically count how much they had in stock. She has a great attitude, great customer service.

Just tried to check out with 100.00 worth of product and was not helped by the 4 young checkers who were totally unprofessional. Thank goodness there was one adult lady working diligently to help check me out. There was no one outside checking people out where a large majority of shoppers were at. I am handicapped and dont appreciate the run around.

Ive been to a few different McLendons in Washington now and this location is very well kept, clean, not cluttered, everything is where you can see it, and the staff were very friendly, professional, helpful people, that makes you feel comfortable shopping there. Zero stars! Terribly RUDE and unprofessional young man working the outdoor garden cash register at Sumner Mclendons today. Threatened to refuse service to us if we questioned his outdoor mask requirement. Also refused service to another customer just before us because she wouldn’t wear a mask outside in the parking lot. My husband put his mask on to finish the transaction and the Mclendons clerk continued to be nasty toward my husband when my husband pointed out that we are outside and his attitude toward customers was unacceptable. The clerk continued to be sassy and rude and continued to threaten refusing service if my husband spoke to him further. Also made a bizarre comment about wanting to do something sexual with our lemon tree we bought? This kid is clearly unfit for a customer service position and should not be working customer service in any capacity. We wanted our flowers we just spent a half hour picking out or we would not have spent a dime there. The other customer as well as my husband complained to the manager who simply gave canned manager responses with no resolution. Won’t be spending anymore money at this store.

Used to be a True Value hardware a block or two from our house. Loved the place and people, so helpful and knowledgeable! Then Lowes, home Depot etc came in. Sadly, they came with lower prices but did not and do not have what the old store had. McClendons had been my go to place ever since. Id rather pay a little more if needed to shop McClendons! I may not always be sure of what I need but I can speak with someone that is patient, knowledgeable and friendly, knowing I will get what I need and the help to find it. On many occasions Ive gone in and ended up saving money and knowing what and how to do by the time I leave.

This place has always had what I needed at a fair price. Highly recommended

I went into the plumbing department today. I brought in a tank, and a piece of water line. Explained to the guy, what I wanted to do and he went right to the part and even provided me with helpful advice. I told him another place told me this wasn’t possible when they just didn’t carry parts for 1/4” diameter line. We both laughed, it was a great time.I took my parts home, hooked them up. Works perfectly, no leaks. I’m out in Enumclaw I have to say it’s well worth the drive to talk to people that know what they are talking about.

I work here not fair to write a review but I will say that my boss Tammie is the best boss in the world. They all are good bosses actually. Plus my co-workers are just as great. Its a home away from home.

The local hardware store feeling has really disappeared and the prices are always a little higher than everywhere else but McLendons will ALWAYS have exactly what you need.

Prices are higher but so is the quality and selection of nearly all of the products sold in the store. They have items that you just cant find in any other walk in off the street hardware store. Its the type of place that you expect to see at least a group or two of old guys who know what theyre talking about hanging out there and B.S.ing about cool old guy stuff. Lol.McLendond has came through in a pinch more than a few occasions for myself personally when it came to hard to find, need it YESTERDAY items that where essential to super important projects. (Night before Christmas Eve Go Kart throttle and brake linkage) . Id recommend them to any and everyone who asked me.

They always have the odd little thing I need that nobody else has and their staff is second to none when it comes to helping out. Today I went to buy a Big Green Egg bbq / smoker that they had a sale on for the combo kit that included the Nest (stand) and numerous other goodies. They were out of stock on the kit but no less than 5 employees rallied to get all of the separate components of the “kit” that they did have in stock and they made it happen right then and there. This item is to be a giveaway for customers at my company and they wanted to make sure I got everything brand new in the package and not just their display model since it had some wear marks and weathering as display models get. Overall great experience and a total throwback to what customer service used to be and stays alive at McClendon hardware. Top notch!

McLendon hardware used to carry all things that were different for a Mobile homes, to include plumbing items. This does not seem to be true any longer, since they were sold:( Shelby in plumbing was very helpful though. I would give her 5 stars, her knowledge is good, but he customer service was outstanding!!!

Ive shopped here a lot in the past and really liked the store and the employees have always been great until today. I have a medical disability and was asked to leave the store today. The manager told me he didnt care that I have a medical condition preventing me from wearing a mask and that I had a note from my doctor saying I am unable to wear one. Every other business makes exemptions for people because the governor and the Americans with Disabilities Act say they should. Ill be taking my business elsewhere from now on and I find it maddening that they said they dont want the business of medically disabled people. I also find it humiliating that i was kicked out in front of all the customers in there.Since i cant reply, the governors orders have an exemption for medically disabled people, which you are choosing to ignore. I find it abhorrent that youre banning people from your stores for an immutable trait they possess. Weve been customers of yours for over 30 years but me and my family will never set foot in one of your stores again. Its sad that that well have to shop at the big box stores, but they are allowing disabled people in to shop there. Its also sad a store will kick its loyal customers to curb by creating a rule that is not needed.

Always friendly service everytime Ive shopped at this store. On this particular visit, I forgot my mask in my car (it was raining), and there was a young lady sitting at the entry gate who offered me a mask, handing it to me with tongs. I was so glad I didnt have to walk back to my car in the rain. I have always had a good shopping experience here.

We really like our local Mcclendon Hardware store. We usually come out of there with what we went in for.

Nobody knew where the panel nails were located. Took 30 minutes to get a piece of plexiglass cut to size. Will not return to the Sumner Mclendons

Everyone is always very friendly, helpful and most importantly they are knowledgeable. Theyve saved me on several occasions by having parts in stock that I would normally need to get from Ferguson or Keller.

Best hardware store around!!

One of the few places where you can buy Christmas lights by the foot and a great selection of bulbs to go with them.

Only complaints is that many things were not marked and the cleanliness of floors came to attention today

I like this place better then the bigger chains mainly bcuz of the crowd. The ppl I was with bought stuff so there is a great chance the bigger chains are more expensive.

Went in close to closing today needing a lock and deadbolt re-keyed. Troy and Ora were super helpful! They loaned us a couple screw drivers to make sure we could get the job done and helped us figure out the most cost effective solution!

McClendons is normally my go-to for specialty and hard to find items. Today, however, they let me down big time. I phoned ahead, and was assured they had what I was looking for, then drove over 20 miles one way to get what I needed. They didnt have it... total waste of time and gas - which is why I called in the first place!

It is my favorite Hardware store. ALL the employees are knowledgable about their products and reasonable prices. I always drive the 5 extra miles to 5hem. I have the 2 major so called hardware stores within 2 miles but I havent shopped at either one for years. Sometimes the lower price stores isnt worth it. That is my opinion.

Love shopping here. They are always super helpful whenever I have a question.

Although I didnt get what I went for, two helpful employees bantered with me and made me smile. I especially liked the re-configured check out line and I hope they keep it after the pandemic. I did find other things to purchase and I will be back.

They had everything I needed, from garden to electrical, and are well prepared for Covid conditions, including handing out masks, if you dont have one.

When I went a couple weeks ago, price labels were missing from a lot of items in the garden center.. The salesperson had to call someone on a walkie to get a price check. A very inefficient way to handle price checks. When I went back today, there were labels on everything I purchased. Glad they rectified part of the situation.

They need help in filling propane bottles. 2 times we have sat out side in the heat waiting for someone to come out.. Every time my husband or the people also there waiting would go inside and ask. They would say someone will.be right out.. Get someone that will be working around the area that can fill the propane bottles when needed. Summer is coming up and people are going to be wanting their tanks filled!!

I always choose to go here instead of Home Depot or Lowe’s! The reason? Everyone that works here knows more about things and are super helpful if you are stressed about your project! They will get you the right tools and materials! Everyone is genuinely so kind.

If you need tools look elsewhere.Nobody there knew what a Center punch or drift pin was and sure wasnt in the store.These are common wood working tools. Come on.

I have been shopping at McLendons in Sumner for many years since 2012 and have always had great service from one of the managers (I dont know her name, lady with dark hair), all the ladies at the registers, guys in plumbing especially Frank, the guy in hardware and the guys outside in the yard. For this reason I have been loyal and chose not to go to closer stores such as ACE or Lowes and drive further to McLendons. We shopped there every week to buy bags of dog food, the ladies know us well. We shop there every month for all the hardware, tools and garden supplies we need. Todays experience was bad. I was inside the store looking to purchase drill bits, afterward I needed to get concrete mix so I asked the clerk if I had to leave the drill bits with him since I had to go out to the back, but he told me no, you can take it with you so I proceeded to go out to the yard in the back of the store with the drill bits in hand. I was approached by Richard (manager), he told me that I could not bring items in the back where the concrete area is and accused me of stealing. I tried to talk to another manager about the situation but they threatened to call the police on me. I put my items back and left the store. I will never shop here again. Its about respect.

The local hardware store of choice. Friendly staff whom are always eager to help you find what your looking for. The stores layout has a lot of tight isles and crowded surroundings which can be a little congested during their busier hours. They have a small lumber yard out back that you can drive through which is nice and convenient.

Today I decided to order from mclendons and take advantage. 2 hours later they called to say my order was ready for pick up. Pretty much everything went downhill from there.The first person to come up to my truck to help me didnt know how to do curbside pickup and had me pull forward to a different gentlemen could help me.This guy who was wearing a mask on his chin instead of his mouth and nose began to tell me that I would have to go inside for curbside pickup while placing his hands on the inside of my door. After asking him to remove his hands from the inside of my truck, I told him the whole point of curbside pick up was to not go inside. He told me he would see what he could do.My order was12 5ft stakestold1 50ft soakers hose4 bags of weed and feed1 faucet splitter10 min later he comes back with:12 5ft stakes2 100ft regular hoses1 bag of weed and feedHe told me to have a great day and started to walk away. I called him back and told him most of the order was wrong. At that point he grabbed the faucet splitter from a cart. So at this point I was short the soaker hose and 3 bags of weed and feed. He told me he would fix and and be right back.15 min later he came back with:3 50ft soaker hoses and 6 bags of weed and feed.I had to stop him from putting all the extra into the back of my truck.Pretty much the whole experience was awful. I wish I could come up with anything positive to say.They did seem well staffed, just non of the staff I encountered seem to be knowledgeable.
