If you havent gotten tacos from El Primo, you havent lived. This place is legit and the best Mexican food in town. My favorite is their pastor tacos. Make sure to buy their made-in-house salsa as well, because its delicious!

We had heard good things about the tacos and burritos here, and they did not disappoint.I had a steak taco and a pork, and both were equally delicious. Hubby had the steak burrito, which was HUGE and also very tasty. In addition, we had an order of rice and of beans both great additions to our meal.We will definitely be frequenting this place in the future. Cant wait until the weather cooperates to allow a bike ride there and a taco/burrito picnic at Cannery Square.

Amazing authentic Mexican food hands down! I can honestly say the menudo,carnitas,lengua,beans,rice, and salsa tasted like the food from my family in Bay City,Texas.

Hands down my all time favorite Mexican joint for Sun Prairie and EVEN the MADISON Area! This place has a little grocery store along with the best food as well! We we struggling to find a true authentic Mexican joint and found it! We tried the Lengua Tacos, Ribeye Tacos both a la cart and had their amazing Steak Torta! All for one affordable price too! I honestly have nothing bad to say!I was reading some of the “1” star review and some one is opinionated based on their food preference (still don’t think they deserved a 1 Star) and the other review was just not acceptable... I find it funny how she commented saying the cashier quoted them wrong pricing (sorry we’re human) and then also mentioned that she didn’t have the best Grammar? .... yet nothing on the food... so please I hope you disregard their comment and honestly just try it for yourself. For those who live 30mins out, it’s worth the drive!I can’t wait to go back on the weekend to try their lamb taco and then also their slow cooked beef soup! I’m super excited! Still after a few hours of eating here I still have a smile on my face :)*support your local business owners!*

The real deal. If you’re looking for authentic and delicious Mexican food, this is it. Excellent steak tacos at $2.50 a piece - they are larger than average when it comes to size and MUCH larger than average when it comes to beef portion. The service is fast and friendly in back and up front.If it’s your first time, listen up. You order your food in the back, between the two counters. After you finish eating, ask for your check then take it up front to pay. After you walk out the door, turn around and go back in because you’re not going to find better tacos elsewhere.

Great taco joint, other good stuff there too

Wanted authentic mexican food and thats what I got. Walked into the place and right away was taken back to the little shops I visited in Mexico. Sat at the bar and immediately was helped. I ordered the steak chicken and chorizo tacos. You can see the cooks preparing your food right in front of you which is always fun and adds to the experience. Recieved the food quickly but if I had to wait an hour for it I wouldve. IT WAS AMAZING. Very simple but the flavor was outstanding. Added a little bit of their house hot sauce which made it even better. Definitely will be going back to try their other dishes.

Ive been here a couple of times. Food is excellent and service is too. Also, they dont use styrofoam. Good for you guys!

This place is a grocery store front with a restaurant and deli in the back. This place is fantastic. My husband and I had the burritos and they are tasty, going back to try the tacos next. Everything is homemade and delicious.

A great place to try authentic Mexican tacos (try the tongue ones, they are so yummy!) and other plates (tortas, quesadillas, burritos). Food is amazing, portions are big and prices are fair. Dont forget to try the Torta de milanesa, a classic Mexico City chicken breaded sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and avocado. We havent try the weekend specials because they SOLD OUT very fast, next time we go there well try to make it before noon.

Awesome service, quick turnaround for food orders, and very friendly staff and owner. The food we ordered was fantastic. We have a lot of friends from South and Central America, so my kids have had some experience with food from those countries. They decided these were the best quesadillas theyd ever had, and that my burrito was as big as my head. It was, and it was excellent! We will definitely make this a regular spot for takeout

I think what the owner was trying to say is that there system would not quote me the wrong price but there system is a 20 year old Mexican woman, that excuse is almost as bad as the grammar, there are at least 5 other restaurants in less than 1/2 a square mile and I highly recommend that everyone tries those before considering this place *bonus tip* from the front door of this place you can actually see another Mexican restaurant that is borderline better that actually has seating for more than 5 people

Stopped in here for a quick lunch. It was delicious! 2.50 for a steak taco. They’re good size - two was enough to fill me up. Fast and friendly service! Would definitely come back if in the area again.

Most authentic Mexican around! Delicious options. The weekend specials (such as barbacoa) sell out early, by 1pm on a Saturday theyre gone, so plan to get there early if you want those! Luckily everything on the regular menu is great, so there are always good choices.

This place is no doubt one of the best place in the region. Whenever I go there I am remarkably satisfied. They hold their high level service and the highest level of cooking they serve. You can never go wrong with this place. Warmly recommended.

I ordered a pork burrito. It was amazing, the meat is phenomenal. I dont know for sure but it is not the usual slow cooked pork that I am used to, but made to order. Large portions and friendly staff. And I will go back for more of that amazing pork!!

No frills tacos and gigantic burritos, made with fresh ingredients in front of you, great salsa, nice people... Its tempting to stop cooking for myself altogether with this place so close. Come early Saturdays for specialty tacos and different kinds of meat -- it sells out super fast on weekends tho so forreal, come early.

5 stars for price and authenticity, 3 stars for taste. Would I go back? Yes, because of the price for what you get. The problem was that the burrito lacked bold flavor and “wet” ingredients. Was just a little dry and not super flavorful. Would rather go across the street to Guimo’s and pay another $3 for the better burrito.

I come here every Tuesday and get tacos. They are out of this world. Best tacos around hands down. 3 Steak tacos with onion, cilantro, squeeze the lime on, salt, and the red sauce...most bomb taco you will ever have. All there other food is good aswell. Price and portions.

Ordered the steak burrito with everything let me say this, its good that whole burrito was delicious best one in town! I say drop into this place if you need some quick cuts, or marinated meat lol! I grew up going to Mexico a lot, so I consider myself an authentic taco expert of a sort. With that said, these are the best tacos Ive had outside of Mexico. Not only that, but the ambiance of the place is exactly what you want out of a great taqueria.

Authentic mexican food! What more is there to say? Ever since I moved from Texas, this is the closest taste to quality Mexican food if had here and it just reminds me of home.

My first time ordering here, I came based on the reviews. El Primo does not disappoint! I had two tacos, 1 Pastor (Pork) and 1 Chorizo. Added cheese and avocado. Excellent flavor and LOADS of meat! At 2.50 each (plus .50 for avocado & cheese), this is steal! More than full when I left. I wish they had the carnitas during the week, though!

Ignore the people that say its average, they are just the 1% that needs to always complain. This is a grocery store with a grill in the back so dont expect a restaurant, but the food and service is a huge value for the price. My girlfriend and I eat here whenever we can and its the best Mexican food youll find in the area (we too have gone around). Plus the staff is super friendly and always in a good mood. Definitely a hidden gem in SP

Awesome authentic Tacos and other authentic mexican products in the store. Food is really good, just a couple tables and a few seats at the counter. Tacos were $2-$3 each. I tried eating 4 which was too much food. I had 2 Chorizo, a steak, and beef tongue, all were awesome. Topped with a heap of the authentic toppings (onions and cilantro, with a lime on the side) unbelievably good! Also picked up a 6 pack of Victoria beer, which I struggle to find anywhere, to take home.
