Very cheap mentality by this store. It’s an alright store but they nickel and dime. Clearly marked Free Samples by Sumatra ata is being sold OR we must buy 10lb aata for the free sample by manufacturer.Indian stores already don’t take returns which is bad in itself so only buy Indian only stuff at these stores.. that too only if it’s not available in costco or WF.
Youll feel like a chennai super market. Great place..
One of the better Indian grocery stores in Sunnyvale, Madras groceries offers everything you may need from Indian snacks, fresh vegetables, frozen food, sweets to general household items. The store is clean and easy to shop with enough space for you to move the cart around. Staff is helpful and checkout is quick. We pair the trip with a quick meal at Madras Cafe next door which works out very well. There is sufficient parking available for the store. Ideal time to visit is after lunch or dinner time since the store isnt too crowded then.
Had a great experience with curbside pickup at Madras Groceries. Everything was well packed in boxes(masala powders, fresh vegetables, snacks, dairy, yogurt, etc) and delivered directly to my cars trunk. Prices are same as instore prices (didnt see over priced or marked up). It took just 5 minutes from my arrival to leaving the place. Curbside made job much easier. They had 2 parking spots reserved for curbside pickup. So, no need to park far away from door. Email them your grocery list ([email protected]) and they call you when order is ready for pickup. Thanks to store Manager Vairavan and team. We got 95% of items in the quantities mentioned by us and I am satisfied. One small suggestion for them is to email back which items are out of stock for us to easily sort out at home or mention them in the return receipt pasted on the boxes.
Nice store for Indian groceries. Wide variety of sweets available. Vegetables are also very fresh here.
BEWARE - check your receipt. This is the third incident of me noticing them adding &1-$5 extra on my bill. First time, I noticed a charge of $5 something on my way to the car after checkout. I went back in and inquired, and the guy promptly corrected and refunded saying it was from an earliar customer. Second time, while they were scanning, I noticed a product on my grocery list which didn’t exist so I asked them and she promptly corrected saying it was typo. Today, the cashier added 2 water melon (1.99 each) and I noticed while checkout and said, I have no water melon ( I had very few products in my cart today) and she said, oh, the chutney is for 2.99 so I used water melons code.. she promptly deleted the $3.98 for 2 water Mellon and manually typed in 2.99. Today, I am convinced there is something fishy in this store. I hardly ever check my bill and I have already caught three instances. Please leave a comment here if you have seen this too. I would like to give them the benefit of doubt but now I don’t have doubts that they are charging extra on every bill for every customer on purpose. Also, now that I have started paying attention in this store - drumstick leaves were 1.99 last week and 3.99 today, hmm.Moringa plant I bought from them, they said at counter - $40 but they don’t display price before.
Good collection of daily need items. Staff is very helpful.
Ive been shopping here for 10 years now. Its my home away from home. Reminds me of the sights sounds and aromas of back home in India
Good inventory. Although be careful at the billing counter. They sometimes add additional items and charge you extra. I was charged $2.99 extra for a cryptic item grocery.
Good place to shop. Bit pricy compare to india cash n curry, but we equipped with all items
Neat, clean and respectful staff. Always well stocked with fresh vegetables and other grocery items. I live in San Jose but always come here for groceries.
Clean store all the spices you need its there
Place is not organized, everybody walks hitting bcos they have managed the lines, or even the items sections well. More importantly there will be no price tag on most of the items . When we ask for price at checkout they don’t have in their computer, instead they ask next person or run to their owner and discuss and say different prices for different people . Also once they even kept different leaves and were selling telling that’s been leaves . But in reality it was not been leaves . Also store is not clean, in hygienic
Youll find everything here. Always crowded
Great store to shop for Indian Groceries 👌👍
You can find your taste here
One phrase to sum it up is True Indian store with the Indian store ambience from utensils to cook to the frozen products all can be found here.
They cheat my selling stale rotis & theplas at very high prices.
The Newark location has been open as advertised for more than a month but 99% of the store had no prices displayed. Utter waste of time to have driven there after getting to know about them on the radio. If they can spend money on ads the least they can do is hire people to set the shop up properly before opening. The girl at the cashier was juggling between taking care of the cash register and arranging stuff on the shelves. Wont be returning.
Like veggies, but lazy to chop them for cooking ???This is the right place for you .They chop okra and beans and carrots, which looks fresh .A good indian store in the neighborhood. Frest veggies. Fruits also . And yes you can buy vessels and untensils which you dont get in most of the other stores. The have plants also to purchase for your garden. There is no curries section like you find in most indian stores in fremont .They have frozen theplas. They are awesomeFriendly staff.
Good location. Right at the corner of El Camino Real and Bernardo Ave. Great selection of fresh vegetables, Indian groceries from spices to specialty items like Hummus in the cooler😋👌
No price tags for most of the things no price scanner. Every time you have to check with the person at the counter who is busy most of the time. Most of the Indian stores in the Bay area, the same situation. Hope the store owners come up with a proper solution.
Nice shop. Get everything here including grated coconuts...
The prices are not displayed for most of products and at the checkout we realize that the prices are huge! the staff is not friendly no smiles no welcoming, it was an awful experience. I will never return to this store!
Vegetables are really fresh. Go to place for indian groceries. Could definitely be bigger and more organized.
I have been here twice and will continue. The service is tops here. The quality and variety are better than most. Well lit and clean. The cashiers are efficient and the dudes stocking the shelves accommodated my questions directly.
A store for your everyday needs. Has a rich collection of items, grocery etc used in Indian homes.
Very good place where we find all south indian grocery items even ponni rice, tamarind, seeraga samba rice, etc
A nice all purpose Indian Grocery store in Sunnyvale offering almost everything you may require in an Indian Kitchen or a South Indian Kitchen while in USA.The prices are reasonable and good brands available.plenty of parking available outside the store.Fresh vegetables are also available.a nice store .
Love to get Idly batter there...
More Spacious as compared to other Indian supermarket. The stuffs is properly organized. I like the separate section for utensils and other households.
While the place has great Indian options, it was too crowded and small. I would have preferred if it were a bit more spacious cause moving around it self was very difficult.
Indian grocery store with a bias towards south indian items. their vegetable selection isnt as vast as new india bazaar or india cash and carry.
Good very helpful.
Cleaner place than most other Indian groceries.I wish their vegetables section has more Indian origin products compared to other grocers nearby
Want to share fantastic experience with grocery curbside pick up from Madras groceries: 1) they have designated parking spots for curb pick up (see picture). 2) they put your groceries inside the trunk 3) everything was done the same day: they called back after receiving the email with grocery order to let us know what time we can pick it up (and if were not available, what time we would like to pick it up). 4) the pick up took literally 3 minutes! P.s. There was a loooong line to shop in the store and I really dont understand why ppl line up and wait when you can do curbside pickup? (I mean I like shopping in person in general, choosing my own vegetables etc.. but its just too stressful and time- consuming during pandemic..). P.p.s. they dont charge anything extra for this service! Highly recommend!
This store has real good, fresh groceries.
They mostly have all Indian products. American chocolates are sold over priced so rather do t buy it here. The shop is decent sized and usually crowded. They were recently selling off all Diwali items at cheaper rate post the festival. The restaurant adjacent to store is good too.
Nice inventory of Indian food at good price.
Nice Indian store.
Like the collection and how things are organized consistently. However, Ive noticed that vegetables and fruits are often fresh but NOT always, had to throw away few times because they got rotten too quickly (esp fruits). I tried to explain what happened to coconuts I bought few days ago and I was asked to bring them for refund! Another thing that I personally dont like about this place is that 80% items have no price tag!! It makes the shopping experience awful as I dont know upfront how much Im paying :( Of course one can check price at the counter but that defeats the point of having price and tags in the first place.Would recommend if you dont have other options. Id definitely buy vegetables and fruits from somewhere else.
One of the best store for the Indian community. They have a separate section for pooja items which makes them top among other sellers. Usually we drive on a weekend, do the purchase and grab some food at their food store which is right next door. Definitely recommend it.
Makes me feel shopping at my hometown. With Tamil songs playing this is the go to place for anyone who misses Mylapore or Adyar 😁
Nice collection of groceries that meets the Indian citizens
One of the pricier Indian stores in the area.Visited often in mornings but vegetables werent fresh even at that early time. Not worth paying higher price for lesser quality. But the good thing about this store is the big section for Indian utensils and puja items, as well as traditional Indian medicines and organic spices. Not seen such a good collection in any other desi store in the bay area.
Highly organized, has almost everything you could hope for at decent rates.
Great selection of Indian groceries and huge section of non perishables
A very clean and well stocked South Indian grocery store.
Lots of stuff! I know what to do with some of it, the rest is a mystery, subject to future research.
This is a well stocked Indian grocery store and arranged well as well. The staff are extremely helpful. Only tip I would give anyone trying out this store for the first time would be look out for the crowd if you are shopping at a peak time. I would recommend this store
As the name goes a very good place for all type of Indian groceries and vegetables .also has lot of variety of ready to eat items
After trying multiple Indian stores in the Bay area, this has been the best and most satisfying one. You find most of the items youre looking for and they have almost all brands from India. Items are kept well-organized and the place is also neat and tidy. Would always recommend this place to the newbies in Bay area.
Very expensive, you get the same product few dollars less few blocks away
Great balanced selection of desi groceries, both dry and fresh +unique frozen veggies, including utensils.
Store had good options for indian, asian foods
Ideal for South Indians mainly Tamilnadu people to buy authentic items. Price s bit higher but service is good. The staffs are very helpful in finding items.
One of the best places to have authentic south indian dosa at a cheap price. Worth more than the price you pay.
Good place to find Indian groceries. My one complaint is that they dont have proper price tags for a lot of products in their shelves. Only way to know the price is to take them to the counter.
Good groceries, reasonable prices
It was a horrible experience. I bought some podis from them and they are all expired. and on top of it they have changed the expiry date with pen. I am going to report this to department of health Santa Clara county as they are selling expired products.. Store is over crowded and don’t follow COVID guidelines at all.. Never going back there
Dont expect too much from the name. They are little bit south Indian than a typical Indian grocery store. Fresh produce. Sad shopping carts
One of the best Indian grocery stores in Bay area
Madras groceries has wide variety of Indian grocery items. Some items like cold pressed peanut oil are available here, which are not available in other stores. Also it’s proximity to South Indian restaurant “Madras cafe” makes it a convenient place to shop and have lunch. You can also request the store manager for any specific item, he has helped us couple of times.
Well maintained store with many household items available.
All Indian grocery, now available, curbside pickup. Very nice people, who go extra for customer. Love the experience.
Go to for indian supplies
Lots of foods and some Indian dishes here, fast service
Youll find most of your regular Indian groceries
Plus : Lots of options to buy. Samosa is very good.Minus : More waiting time in queue to bill the items
Its a good place for all Indian items. Popular brands like haldirams, mothers recipe etc are available. Most of the Pooja items are available. Well maintained and good service.
All good. we were regular here during the hard lockdown days.
Amazing store. All the spices you could ever want at really low prices. Lots of large bags of pulses and rice too. They also have great fresh produce that can be hard to find. I also love their frozen sundries. Also, as a Brit living in the bay area I am excited by their British items. My husband is thrilled to have real dairymilk chocolate!
Good store with a lot of variety in grocery and fresh vegetables as well
All the things! at great prices!
Lots of parking, But no social distancing followed, Good variety of Indian Groceries, Next door food place makes this a worthy visit
Best spot for indian groceries!
Clean, spacious aisles, products well labeled and they have all the essentials
Price of item 2 dollars on register more. During covid it was complete rip-off still they are taking customers for a ride.
Its pretty good. Many Indian vegetables, spices and goods are available. Vegetables are mostly fresh. I never had any complaints about it. Staff is helpful.Lot of parking spots are available. They usually have 2-3 counters running so queue wont get too long and you can be out of the store in 20 mins or so with average amount of shopping.
Love this store but was very stressful with so many people in the store with little consideration for social distancing. I think that needs to be handled better.
They expanded this place a lot since I was here a couple of years ago. It is very well laid out and has a lot of variety of everything! It was a very pleasant experience shopping here today. It could be that I was there around 10:30am and its not a typically busy time for them.
High-quality produce and a wide variety of products.
We drive down from San Francisco on a regular basis to shop here. The city doesnt have any Indian grocery establishments of this caliber. They have a great selection of quality items at reasonable prices - the stuff one would get back home in India. The stock is always fresh. They also play great Bollywood and other Indian music that enhances the overall shopping experience. It is a little slice of home away from home. I hope they dont change. The nearby Momo truck and Dosa/Idli joint are an added benefit of shopping here 😜P.S. I really appreciate that they are not trying to make extra money (like a certain establishment in Berkeley) by reducing your choices and pushing some private / in-house labels.
Good selection of groceries at a convenient location. They also have some special items like freshly grated coconuts and some items from Grand Sweets that are reportedly flown in. Close to 85/101 it’s the nearest store for someone living in the Peninsula. While you are there you can also eat at the ever popular Madras Cafe ( decent South Indian food but definitely overrated, but that’s another review:) )
Becareful as all sales are final (i think because of covid)
Neat place for all that you need for an Indian kitchen and home. Had grown over the years since I last saw it. Almost doubled in size since my last visit 4 years ago. Lot of brands in each product. Good place to go for Indian items with a quick turnaround.
Way expensive than other indian stores in the area.
I love this place. They have wide options for all Indian groceries. They stock fresh products!
They have most of the brands of products you are looking for. Products are priced appropriately and good quality.
